Really cool to see German trains & stations and trains from Denmark operating the Israeli Railways!!
lol they are not "german themed". They're german.
As much as people love to trash, the trains in israel are damn good, because their German made.
the blue ones at least.
The trains in Israel are like German Railways Trains
Yes, they were bought from Germany.
thats because they are german
The double decker trains are like from Switzerland.
I hate Israel becuse they bought off
@@shereshjacob No, they're german.
I see you visited the museum. The building itself was the train station for trains to Damascus. 5 years ago, they opened a new route to Bet Shean and Afula which were on that old route.
Nice! You even got to see the Israel IC3 (flexliner). Though, some have been withdrawn, and sent back to Denmark, as spare part for DSBs IC3 fleet
Nine units were bought third hand from Sweden in 2004 when the line they operated on was electrified and SJ considered that they didn't need them.
@@johannessamuelsson6578 very true, DSB had 4 of them, the remaining are still running (or am i wrong?)
@@CopenhagenRailProductions There Used to be 20 Y2 class units in Sweden, of which one got scrapped after an accident, six remain in Sweden, then the previously mentioned batch of nine...
And the rest were returned to DSB.
The exact city they got send back to was Viborg
I'm so proud that the ic3 is made from my city
German trains with American railroad crossings in a Middle Eastern country
Hope someday can visits Israel.
Interesting.....haven't seen a lot of rail photography / videography from there...
to me, the amount of documentation is reasonable if compared to Saudi Arabia imo
That is because security is strict there, actually it is forbidden to take photos/videos in the train or on the platforms (as they say the security .
I love trains and took many pictures of my homeland rail company, but I always get scold by those security personnel for photographing
How did you manage to take photos or even film, those security bust... are always on my As.. when I photograph a train that is internationally used, like the Bombardier Double decker train or the IC3
Looks like they're using a lot of German trains
And Danish!
even some mark 2 carriages made it at one point
the signals look like British-German hybrids and of course, the American grade crossings
It's all European technology
Because trains in isreal run on standard guage
With American e-bell :)
Are you gonna show us the Carmelit in a future video? It’s almost always in your title cards but we haven’t seen it in a proper video
It will have a dedicated video (and an appearance in Part 2 of the vlog), don't you worry!
@@DavidFrankal Cool, looking forward to it!
Hi David - great video! Do you know if the old Tel Aviv to Jerusalem line is still open following the opening of the high speed line?
It was when I visited in January 2020. But I think it's been suspended due to COVID since March 2020 and it isn't clear if/when it will reopen
Unfortunately, the line will be closed forever, but it is currently being preserved.
at first i thought this was europe
Do they ever run single-unit (3-car) IC3 trains on the Tel Aviv - Malha line? If they dont, then they might as well move some push-pull sets to that line.
Israel Railways actually have 24 Desiro HC sets scheduled for delivery this year, which means they actually could do this cascade and get rid of the IC3s.
I believe only IC3s can run on that line due to tight curves
Did you do all the stations in Israel?
I think there are only 68 so it might be doable.
Ha, I did not but it wouldn't take very long
How easy or difficult is it to navigate around the system if you don't speak, read or understand Hebrew?
Not a problem, signs are in English as well and you can navigate yourself around with Google Maps or Moovit.
How does the service people react on trainspotters?
Damn, I've been to Israel once, but I have to go once again, for trains :D
You might get suspicious looks if you aren't travelling. I didn't have any issues, but all these clips were filmed whilst travelling
@@DavidFrankal It seems reasonable. Tripods and stands are, presumably, prohibited?
@@naruciakk Didn't try. Probably. But I've been told off for using a tripod in the UK so that wouldn't be that unusual
Are the English people allowed to travel to Israel because of the good COVID vaccination situation in both countries?
This was filmed in January 2020!
Why are there comments on a TRAINSPOTTING video about the whole geopolitical thing with Israel and Palestine? Pardon my slight rudeness, but bugger off with that stuff. Trainspotting/railfanning is a form of escapism at times, especially videos of it like this. Surely you can set aside the sentiments you have in regards to that whole issue and watch trains for nearly 25 minutes.
What's the train at 0:10 ?
A Stadler Flirt, of Hungarian MÁV
Slight misconception with Haifa. Although the station you were at was Haifa central. The actual main train station of Haifa is either Hof Hacarmel in the south of the city or the much larger and huge station merkazit hamifratz to the North of Haifa.
German Train Cars, with american Engines nice
We can see that the catenary for electric traction has been laid down, I wonder why there are still few electric trains running along these lines
It’s because there is only 1 line that is fully electrified currently (Tel Aviv - Jerusalem), so the rest of the lines only have catenary in certain sections.
Germany looks different in this one
haha yes, but the DD have specific equipment for the needs of Israel railways
German Dosto Wagons ❤
20:36 Why is only half of the "Steuerwagen" on this train for passengers? (im sorry i dont know what "Steuerwagen" means in english)
I was wondering that too. (English word is driving trailer) I wonder if it's for a generator? Maybe the locos can't provide power for heating and air-conditioning etc.
Most of Israel's trains are still on diesel and require the cabs to work with them, so that's the power generator.

Free palestine
Indeed yes. They need to free themselves from the yoke of terrorists and authoritarian governments. Maybe then they'll be able to begin building a state - perhaps with trains. You can rest assured that the minute Palestine opts for peace Israel will do anything for them.
