Yes i started my business 20 years ago and there was no internet, so i started with people i know, my church and took pictures of every and volunteer and built my business from the ground up! It was so rewarding to make money from you gifts and creativity!

I just got my first event because I hyped my babies birthday party up so much that my daughter's friend mother actually asked me for help. That was the moment I spoke so highly of myself so naturally. After getting that party I gained two more birthday parties from my daughter's class. I have a Disney Princess Workshop birthday party and baby shark party at the end of the month a fairy party. I'm so happy I started opening my mouth. I Definitely take advantage of working at a daycare. I'll start with birthday parties and baby showers. Hopeful weddings will come soon 😁

I do balloons for friends and family members at no cost to them but now people in large Organizations are asking me to similar balloon arches for them. I have several arches, equipment and etc. I really don’t know what to charge for them and I would like to not under price my work. I also go above what I’m asked. I was wondering how to have a price point for the area we live in.

I have already told my friends and family that I want to start a party-planning business and. they are excited. Most of these people already know my work because they have been seeing my work for the last 10 years. I have been planning parties for my job for the past 29 years. Like you said people don't like to pay. I usually will explain what today's prices are and then my fee.

Hi! I am a new here. I have so many takeaways. I am literally binge watching your videos one by one. My best friend and I have been planning and executing (from concept to decor to coordinating) events for close friends and family on a small scale for years. Recently, a family friend asked us to help with her wedding reception, we ended up doing everything from scratch and everyone was in awe. With a passion, established relationships with vendors, and with faith - we decided to start our business! (Yay). I have one "mental block," we only have photos from that one event. So how do we start a social media page, market to get clients, with photos of only one event?
I would start creating a social media page and use the photos you do have. The next pictures you can do is create mockups or style shoots to show people what you can do since most people need to SEE your potential vs believing in your word. Hope this helps!
As for which tip I'll use...I was very careful not to bite off more than I could chew when I started my biz, but the way social media sites list my services makes people contact me for general party equipment rentals. So, next year I may expand to offer tables and chairs for small parties, but only the amount of inventory I can store at my home without investing in a storage unit.

That's great! Starting with event rentals first would've been my suggestion to you when you first start vs starting with event decorations as an entire event. It's a lot faster to scale with getting known for rentals first vs the other way around.

I understand this so much. But the first thing is to stop believing you can’t do this and tell yourself anything is possible. Secondly, start doing family events and take pictures of what you design. I am really enjoying watching your vids and have been binge watching at work all day LOL. I am a beginner in starting my business but have been decorating and planning events for a few years now (for free) for myself and family members. You have probably answered this question in another video but I am so totally confused on how to purchase the items for my clients events. Am I paying for all of their items with my own money that I want to include in their event and they pay me back? Or does my packages need to include my base pay plus what I believe their event decor will cost? I hope this question makes sense. Hope to hear from you really soon! You’re very welcome. I usually collect a non-refundable deposit from all of my clients in order to pay for the items I need for their event. I used to come out of pocket with my money and just wait until they paid the whole thing but this won’t serve your business long-term
I would try both and see which one makes you the most happy and which is in the highest demand. Also depending on your clients that have events you can upsell either the decorating if you are doing makeup or makeup if you are decorating.
My advice is based on research that BIG corporations have done for years. If you want to know why I advise to focus on one design, please read “The One Thing” by Gary Keller. You can design everything, it will just take you longer to scale your business. Look at the businesses within your community; McDonald’s sells coffee but it’s known for fast food, Starbucks sells food but it’s known for coffee, etc. My goal is help event designers make money the fastest way possible and based on my knowledge & research, focusing on one design has my designers in my coaching program making $3-$5k per month with their designs once they’ve been coached by me rather than getting inconsistent sales because they’re focused on doing it all with their events. Just like your channel is focused on selling things on Etsy vs selling products anywhere…focusing on one thing is the fastest way to scale with anything we do in our lives 🥰

Thanks for all these wonderful tips! I have one question.. How do I advertise my event business without real pictures? I have not done any real parties yet so I was using stock photos. As a potential client doesn’t this look bad?
Good question! I would create mock-ups of what you can offer to your clients. If you decide to use stock photos, be sure to explain what your followers should be focusing on [ie: the color combination] and always give credit where it's due. I hope this helps!
Love all these tips! I have a question though. I’ve been wanting to start a biz but hesitant. Someone i knew from work years ago randomly hit me up and asked could i do decor for a high school prom! It’d be my first full event outside of doing family and my own wedding and that’s a huge event. I don’t have much besides a backdrop stand i use for balloons but i know with a school prom budget and a team i could do this i just feel like idk where to start with pricing and she wants to meet about it soon.👀👀👀

Start going to networking events. This way you can build relationships with other vendors in your area. This is a quick-fix but this will help you long term. In the meantime, just use what you can…maybe ask your community church to use their space.

I am really enjoying watching your vids and have been binge watching at work all day LOL. I am a beginner in starting my business but have been decorating and planning events for a few years now (for free) for myself and family members. You have probably answered this question in another video but I am so totally confused on how to purchase the items for my clients events. Am I paying for all of their items with my own money that I want to include in their event and they pay me back? Or does my packages need to include my base pay plus what I believe their event decor will cost? I hope this question makes sense. Hope to hear from you really soon! You’re very welcome. I usually collect a non-refundable deposit from all of my clients in order to pay for the items I need for their event. I used to come out of pocket with my money and just wait until they paid the whole thing but this won’t serve your business long-term

I would try both and see which one makes you the most happy and which is in the highest demand. Also depending on your clients that have events you can upsell either the decorating if you are doing makeup or makeup if you are decorating.

I am going to implement "not using funds from my other sources." I am NOTORIOUS for it LOL 😂
I was too especially early on in my business. If you have to use funds from your 9 to 5 or other sources track it all.
you can make everything ! you need to pick a style and find customers that like the designs you make.
My advice is based on research that BIG corporations have done for years. If you want to know why I advise to focus on one design, please read “The One Thing” by Gary Keller. You can design everything, it will just take you longer to scale your business. Look at the businesses within your community; McDonald’s sells coffee but it’s known for fast food, Starbucks sells food but it’s known for coffee, etc.
My goal is help event designers make money the fastest way possible and based on my knowledge & research, focusing on one design has my designers in my coaching program making $3-$5k per month with their designs once they’ve been coached by me rather than getting inconsistent sales because they’re focused on doing it all with their events. Just like your channel is focused on selling things on Etsy vs selling products anywhere…focusing on one thing is the fastest way to scale with anything we do in our lives 🥰

Good question! I would create mock-ups of what you can offer to your clients. If you decide to use stock photos, be sure to explain what your followers should be focusing on [ie: the color combination] and always give credit where it's due. I hope this helps!

Someone i knew from work years ago randomly hit me up and asked could i do decor for a high school prom! It’d be my first full event outside of doing family and my own wedding and that’s a huge event. I really need the info to get supplies for the balloon business. I'm a baker and . started making gift baskets. I've been wanting to add the balloon business to this. Hi this new to me I don’t know find good place have a event party. Space without breaking my pockets.
Start going to networking events. This way you can build relationships with other vendors in your area. This is a quick-fix but this will help you long term. In the meantime, just use what you can…maybe ask your community church to use their space.
