Why My Channel Sucks Lately

  • A lot of you have been wondering where I have been... I really struggled with publicizing this, but ultimately I feel that honesty, transparency, and authenticity is always the right choice.
He truly was my biggest supporter, in life and RUclips. In fact, he was so fascinated with the business-side of RUclips that he would've wanted me to monetize the heck out of this video, but I feel that would come across horribly. If RUclips plays ads that is out of my control.

Dude your channel doesn't suck. I'm going on my first solo Vegas trip tomorrow because, in part, to your videos. I'm pushing myself past what I would have ever thought of doing because of your attitude to life.
You should know you have a positive impact in real people out in the real world. I hope you're doing well man, and I'm really sorry to hear about your Father. Your audience is here because of your authenticity and trying to give advice to other travellers. We will still be here for you no matter how long it takes for you to grieve the way you need to.

Grief and sorrow does change the attitude.
I hate when people say GET OVER IT.
No, work through it. There is nothing like a Dad and son bond.
I love your channel. That’s all sir.

Video should have been titled A Tribute to my Father. He deserved every word you said. Father and son relationships are everything. My Dad was the greatest man I have ever known and now I work hard everyday to bring the same joy to my son that my Dad brought to me. Your videos are amazing in part because your Dad was amazing. You are him. He is proud of his son.

James, I’m not a typical RUclips commenter, however I felt compelled to tell you how much my wife and I appreciate you and your videos. We’ve been watching for years and you’ve inspired us to pursue travel and ignited a greater passion for adventure. Thank you for your hard work, resiliency, kindness, and desire to inspire us all. Obviously nothing can replace your dad, but throughout the rest of your life you will be the beneficiary of moments and reminders that you carry his love with you everywhere you go. I pray that this will bring a measure of unmatched comfort whenever you need it most. Thank you for what you do, keep pursuing your dreams, and safe travels my friend

There are still times that I go to call home to talk to him and forget he’s not there. This was a brave video and I congratulate you on your courage and openness and the fact that you stay positive.
Watching your videos and traveling has inspired my wife and I we are going to try and start our own channel soon. We will be making our first video in Key West at the end of July.

My father grew ill, suffered from MS and was hospitalized. I was on my way out there but the medical team said he "was gonna be alright " . He passed 2 days later, not a day goes by I kick myself I didn't go. Then my mom passed in 2019 , in Houston in the parking lot of a brewers / Astros game . Not a day goes by I don't think of them. Mama Coolist, you have an amazing son that produces incredible, honest travel videos that sometimes create friendships even he's over at another sunny beach. Our household went to Lopesan Costa Bavaro three weeks ago, and I met a gentleman from the UK while watching the sunrise over the party boats just offshore. About five minutes into the conversation, we both found out the reason why we were there was because of some RUclipsr that goes by Coolist highly recommended it. James, your content is amazing and it was so cool to talk about it with a stranger that soon became a friend. We're going to try to cross paths again next year from opposite sides of the globe. Regarding your father, my dad beat Stage 3 Esophageal cancer, and I get to cherish my bonus time with him. I'm happy to see that you had the opportunity to do the same. I am anxiously awaiting your journey back to happiness...keep up the good work!

First off, my deepest condolences. That is rough stuff, and I have been in your shoes. I lost both of my parents at an early age. My mother when I was 15 and my father when I was 29. I'm 55 now and it still hurts, but as you said, I was lucky to have been born in the US and had them as parents. I appreciated you opening up and explaining why you thought your videos were off, but you didn't need to. I wonder, and find it remarkable how you even mustered the will to do any videos with everything that you had going on. Kudos to you showing your personal human side. Took a lot to do that. Too tell you the truth, I didn't notice any downgrade just the length between videos was more. I thought it was just being tired from having that much fun partying, eating, and drinking all the time. Anyway, I just want to also thank you for sharing your passion for travel, showing us cool stuff, and your honest opinions. It really helps narrow down hotels that are out there. Someday my wife and I hope to take your advice and hit one of these hotels. That's if, like you said, the new 1 dollar still is a 10 dollar bill or more the way it's going. You are awesome at what you do and look forward to more. Keep your passion going, and take time for yourself to heel. Stay safe and take care!

Well damn. I'm watching this through blurred vision. I lost my dad in 2020. It was swift and brutal - three months from the time we found out until the time he took his last breath. I'm sorry to say, it still hurts every day. It sounds like we had similar relationships with our fathers. My condolences, James.

Take things one day at a time James. It never goes away, but it does get better with time. You had a great father it sounds like, and one day you will pass on the lessons he passed on to you. That is the beauty of having that kind of dad. His light and wisdom lives on in you. Peace to you as you walk this journey man. Been there and I feel your pain.

The algorithm has not failed me. You do pop up in my feed.
18 months? I found you within that time. I came for the travel advise, but you stayed for the human connection that we all sorely lack. Don't be so quick to discount that.
I'm sending you the biggest digital hug, handshake, whatever...
    Find some stillness. Reflect. Appreciate.
Thank you for what you do. You've made a difference in my life and others. No matter how big or small.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend my mom September 2022 and went on vacation July 2023 with my friends for my first birthday without her on this earth. And although I enjoyed my friends. There was a part of me, still a part of me today that will forever be sad. I try to live in the moment. Let myself cry when it comes, but I continue to make good memories bc I know that's what she would have wanted. Prayers to you. Grief is a life long journey 🙏🏾

I totally get how you feel. I lost my Mom six years ago unexpectedly and it's tough. Talking about it, like you did, will help you get back on your happy path. I appreciate your videos, especially the ones about Punta Cana as we are thinking of going there soon. I like to be informed and you do a great job! Keep it up!!

Oh man you just made me cry so hard and then the pictures at the end...so sad and yet so happy because you can see the joy in your face when you are around them. So tough cuz it makes me think of losing my own parents and how hard it will be. This is my 1st time commenting on your stuff although I have been watching you for a long time and have watched your videos numerous times. You travel and have the same interests as my husband and I, so I know I'm getting honest like-minded content when I watch your videos. We are set to go to Royalton Chic Cancun in December and so excited that I have watched that video, Royalton Punta Cana, and the comparison videos so much lately its crazy! Thank you for your content and for keeping going...it sounds like this has been a rough year and half for you and yet you still put on your game face and get done what you need to. Thank you for being you and hope you find inner peace! Sending good vibes your way!

My wife and I are both battling cancer and have for 2 years. We have been married since 1982.
I find your channel to be therapy (and have been following you since 2022 or so) as we can’t physically travel like you anymore. We are going to head up CA Hwy 395 to the California High Sierras and Tahoe this week. Please keep going as you can.

    Hi James!
My husband and I have watched your videos for over a year now. This video hit hard. We lost my FIL Feb 2023. We relate to everything you said. We laughed when you mentioned the projects in Harlem- it’s where my husband was raised. We are so sorry for the loss of your dad. It was beautiful to see his pictures at the end. This video was a great reminder of how lucky we are. I wish I could say more and more eloquently but my watering eyes won’t allow it.
Looking forward to seeing more content.
    James SR is smiling down.
