This a great visualisation to explain forming the maul, but shouldn't the 2nd arriving player technically be from the attacking (ball carrying) team to officially form a maul?
Thank you very much. A maul consists of a ball carrier and at least one player from each team, bound together and on their feet. So the 2nd arriving player can be from the attacking or defending team. Thank you for supporting Rugby Basics.
@@rugbybasics4269 Thanks for the response! I still don't seem to think a maul has technically formed at 1:00 though. "a ball carrier AND at least one player from EACH team.." There is a ball carrier and two defenders but no other player from the attacking team. So wouldn't a maul only from at 1:18 when the other attacking players join?
