This was a day or two before Angelina and her family moved from Norway to the USA. The introduction starts in the middle of a sentence, but I did see this live back then and believe I can remember, it is her cousin on the guitar. Here is what they said in the introduction. He: "...(...) the ten-year-old's cousin. Fortunately, she came to visit us before leaving for the USA." She: "And we're getting goosebumps because we've listened to the soundcheck. I think one of AJs most impressive but often unmentioned talents is her natural ability to subtlety walk the lyrics outside the framework of the music without it sounding out of place. It is what made Frank Sinatra so good and she does it so naturally that it has to be an inherent gift. It is the reason that she has taken jazz standards and impressed so much and made them sound so uniquely hers. A lot of young people can sing these days but rarely can they make a song recorded by hundreds of artists before them sound like it was written for just them.

This recording is probably from a roof in Oslo (Norwegian Television), as the presenter said they got a short visit just before Angelina traveled to the US. So in that context, this song gets a deeper meaning.

Angelina can pretty much sing anything. She never rushes, doesn't fret for an instant having her vocals very exposed, uses the spaces between notes to maximum effect, and as you said, embeds in nearly every syllable a portion of the message she is conveying. Stellar!
This is 10 yo Angelina singing on the roof of the TV 2 studio on a Morning Talk Show in Oslo. She & her family flew to the US later that day for an extended tour. Two years later they all moved to LA where she currently resides & goes to high school, although they return to Norway for visits.
Hi Keith! Apa kabar? I just want to point out that this show went live from this rooftop in the evening, not morning. It was aired live around 20.45 that evening (the host even says "have a nice evening"). The early hours of the next morning, around 06.00, they were on their plane for LA. Great reaction CHRIS. You MUST hear the other 3 songs she sang to win. Gloomy Sunday, Bang Bang and to me the most phenomenal was "I'm a Fool To Want You" which she sang the entire song ACAPELA. She was 7 at the time. Then at 10, Feelin Good the "LIVE on The Stream Gir Tilbake" version. And for Queen fans, The Show Must Go On. At 12 her version of Amy Winehouse Back to Black. She had to rewrite the lyrics or her mom wouldn't let her sing it. Enjoy the journey.

You might want to check out Angelina's version of 'My Funny Valentine'. It's an older song that could possibly disappear if the youth of today don't sing the song. Angelina is 9. It's incredible IMHO.
Way better than the Ella Fitzgerald version. During the first 6 months of the shutdown, this was my nightly lullaby. It brought me so much comfort and joy. Always in my Angelina top five.

Close your eyes and the sound could come out of a good working old fashioned jukebox and than open them and you are looking to a 10 year old Norwegian girl singing this in the year 2016 (I checked it on RUclips).
I believe this was shot for a TV show in Oslo. This is probably the roof of the studio. This wonderful performance epitomizes how amazingly unhurried her delivery is. The other word that describes her singing to a tee is "effortless". She gives us that sweet, knowing look and we can see that the music is just flowing from her like a stream. I have found myself saying many times that Angelina has just delivered my favorite version of a song. We are truly blessed to have great artists like her to enjoy. Cheers Chris!
You briefly mentioned how she's developed since the iconic _I Put a Spell On You._ Considering that recording was around 1½ years earlier it means there would be something like 2500-2700 hours of practice between these two recordings. I'm not saying she wasn't blessed with a huge portion of natural talent, but she was also given a rich dose of determination, self discipline and, perhaps most of all, an endless love for music in general and singing in particular. It's often said that you need something in the order of 10,000 hours of intensive practice to achieve mastery of complex skills, but it's also very important to have a teacher who can identity what you should focus on during each of those hours. When listening to Angelina's impressive development during her early years, we must pay respect not only to her own hard work, but also that of her music teachers and the important stimulation she's had from the fellow musicians who's spent their time rehearsing and performing with her. And of course her fantastic and supportive family.

She once mentioned that she practice 4-5 hours every day, no excuses.. Her different vibratos (falsettos.. ;-) she probably rehearse with metronome.. That's what we do in the brass playing world..

Haha....that must be something of a bummer saying that you don't know the buildings in picture when you are from Oslo. Those building are so to say defining the centre of Oslo. They are standing on the rooftop of TV 2 head office (at that time) in the main street Karl Johan. Behind you can see Oslo's main church the Oslo Cathedral (Oslo Domkirke) standing at Stortorget. The church was ready build in 1697 so you should have had some possibilities to notice it. The tower was however added first later in the 1800 hundreds sometime .....so that might have confused you. The other two tall buildings is Oslo Plaza hotel (from 1989) and then to the right Post(giro)bygget (from 1975). That must be like being from Paris and can not identify the Eiffel tower....
Well, Domkirka was going to be my guess, but never having seen it from the top of a roof before, nor being able to remember if it had a clock tower made me not want to make a guess and be wrong. And if you are going to compare the Eiffel tower to a building in Oslo, I'd say the town hall Is much more visually easy to identify from any angle than Domkirka.

Chris, in case you don't know there is an interesting story to why Angelina performs barefoot. She was traveling in the mid-east with her Grandmother Mery who is Iranian and Angelina ( who was 6 at the time) saw a young girl around her age who was weighing people with a scale on the side of the road to make money to help support her siblings. Angelina noticed that the girl was barefoot and that her feet were scarred , she stopped to talk to the girl and found out that she could not afford shoes because she was poor. The girl asked Angelina what she wanted to do when she grew up and Angelina said that she wanted to sing for the world and told the young girl that from then on she would perform barefoot until all the children in the world had shoes. The young girl said that she would forget her and would pray for her. Angelina wrote a book about the encounter when she was 9 years old and it was published making Angelina the youngest published author ever in Norway. Also Angelina gave the girl the shoes off of feet. Angelina has never forgotten her promise to the girl and still performs barefoot to this day!

Some thoughts about this performance (in addition to the fact that Angelina was 10 years old, of course): 1) She's outside on a rooftop in Oslo (not in a studio); 2) She's singing for a television audience (there doesn't appear to be a live audience); 3) She sings it in a single take; 4) She is, of course, singing in English (not Norwegian). Then you can talk about all the other stuff (how she's matured, has more power now, how her breath control is better, etc.). None of that changes the fact that this was nearly perfect. You said you have been struck some times and i think doing Dimash and Diana you need pause every less than 23 seconds(maybe 20 is limit) to do correct by Copyright. For Aurora might be same. When it come to Angelina it is a bit different. Agt and all she have done by Republic records is copyrighted and need pause every 20 second and then you talk/ stop video by changing to a picture for some seconds 3-4. Tv 2 norway like the one you do now are sometimes hit if you dont pause enaugh. Yes, that IS the best version of that song ever recorded. That's how you sing a song. I learn something different every time I hear it. This time is was the subtle build-up on the line "There's no love-song finer" and the slightly retracted inflection (if that's a term) on that word "finer" that seems to be one of Angelina's trademarks.
In a good sense, we can say that she is "channeling" Ella Fitzgerald, because not only does she follow the melodic line by imitating her voice but she conveys all the feelings delivered in the song by Ella. It is hard to fathom that a 10-year old can lay bare your soul with a voice like that but she does it as well in her remake of Amy Winehouse's Black to Black, Summertime with NRK Kork, Feeling Good on The Stream Gir Tilbake and at Allsang På Grensen, Sing Me to Sleep and Faded with Alan Walker at his live-streamed Heading Home event, and finally her remarkable take on Baby Fuzz's I'm Still Holding Out for You.

Angelina can pretty much sing anything. She never rushes, doesn't fret for an instant having her vocals very exposed, uses the spaces between notes to maximum effect, and as you said, embeds in nearly every syllable a portion of the message she is conveying. Stellar!

This is 10 yo Angelina singing on the roof of the TV 2 studio on a Morning Talk Show in Oslo. She & her family flew to the US later that day for an extended tour. Two years later they all moved to LA where she currently resides & goes to high school, although they return to Norway for visits.

It was aired live around 20.45 that evening (the host even says "have a nice evening"). The early hours of the next morning, around 06.00, they were on their plane for LA. This performance of “Every Time We Say Goodbye” was in 2016 when Angelina was 10. She sings it in the style of Ella Fitzgerald from her 1956 classic on the album “Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Cole Porter Songbook”. Angelina and guitarist Tommy Kristiansen were on the rooftop of TV 2 in Oslo, performing on the TV show “God Sommer Norge” (Good Summer Norway). Both the audio and video quality are amazing. The purity of Angelina’s voice is astounding! Here is the translation of the hosts’ comments at the beginning - Man: “Angelina Jordan is standing behind us. This ten year old has got the whole world at her feet. Luckily, she stopped by with us before she goes off to the USA.” Woman: “And we are expecting to get goosebumps because we have listened to the rehearsals. So, just enjoy it and enjoy this Monday evening too.” Man: “Have a good one.”

Great reaction CHRIS. You MUST hear the other 3 songs she sang to win. Gloomy Sunday, Bang Bang and to me the most phenomenal was "I'm a Fool To Want You" which she sang the entire song ACAPELA. She was 7 at the time. Then at 10, Feelin Good the "LIVE on The Stream Gir Tilbake" version. And for Queen fans, The Show Must Go On. At 12 her version of Amy Winehouse Back to Black. She had to rewrite the lyrics or her mom wouldn't let her sing it. Enjoy the journey.

A 10 year old girl (but if she were 8 or 9 or 11, it was the same 😀 ), who in perfect autonomy has so much sensitivity and musical intelligence to recalibrate a song like this and do it in such a perfect, accurate, sweet, soft way, balanced and ... much more, it is simply unreal. By association, compared to the position of the show, we could say that it's certainly her voice is already close to heaven. You might want to check out Angelina's version of 'My Funny Valentine'. It's an older song that could possibly disappear if the youth of today don't sing the song. Angelina is 9. It's incredible IMHO.

Way better than the Ella Fitzgerald version. During the first 6 months of the shutdown, this was my nightly lullaby. It brought me so much comfort and joy. Always in my Angelina top five.

Thank you Chris! Angelina is so special in bringing ancient jazz songs back to life (this one is from 1944) and really do them proud. Close your eyes and the sound could come out of a good working old fashioned jukebox and than open them and you are looking to a 10 year old Norwegian girl singing this in the year 2016 (I checked it on RUclips).
I believe this was shot for a TV show in Oslo. This is probably the roof of the studio. This wonderful performance epitomizes how amazingly unhurried her delivery is. The other word that describes her singing to a tee is "effortless". She gives us that sweet, knowing look and we can see that the music is just flowing from her like a stream. I have found myself saying many times that Angelina has just delivered my favorite version of a song. We are truly blessed to have great artists like her to enjoy. Cheers Chris!

You briefly mentioned how she's developed since the iconic _I Put a Spell On You._ Considering that recording was around 1½ years earlier it means there would be something like 2500-2700 hours of practice between these two recordings. I'm not saying she wasn't blessed with a huge portion of natural talent, but she was also given a rich dose of determination, self discipline and, perhaps most of all, an endless love for music in general and singing in particular. It's often said that you need something in the order of 10,000 hours of intensive practice to achieve mastery of complex skills, but it's also very important to have a teacher who can identity what you should focus on during each of those hours. When listening to Angelina's impressive development during her early years, we must pay respect not only to her own hard work, but also that of her music teachers and the important stimulation she's had from the fellow musicians who's spent their time rehearsing and performing with her. And of course her fantastic and supportive family.

She once mentioned that she practice 4-5 hours every day, no excuses.. Her different vibratos (falsettos.. ;-) she probably rehearse with metronome.. That's what we do in the brass playing world..

The intro translated was 'The world lays ahead for this ten year old feet, thankfully she came to us before leaving for her trip to the US' 'We are expecting goose bumps, because we have listened to the practice, enjoy this and enjoy this Monday night' - I am trying to identify the building with the clock on it, but coming up short (which is shameful, having given this is my home town, even if I haven't lived there for a few decades).

Haha....that must be something of a bummer saying that you don't know the buildings in picture when you are from Oslo. Those building are so to say defining the centre of Oslo. They are standing on the rooftop of TV 2 head office (at that time) in the main street Karl Johan. Behind you can see Oslo's main church the Oslo Cathedral (Oslo Domkirke) standing at Stortorget. The church was ready build in 1697 so you should have had some possibilities to notice it. The tower was however added first later in the 1800 hundreds sometime .....so that might have confused you. The other two tall buildings is Oslo Plaza hotel (from 1989) and then to the right Post(giro)bygget (from 1975). That must be like being from Paris and can not identify the Eiffel tower....
Well, Domkirka was going to be my guess, but never having seen it from the top of a roof before, nor being able to remember if it had a clock tower made me not want to make a guess and be wrong.
And if you are going to compare the Eiffel tower to a building in Oslo, I'd say the town hall Is much more visually easy to identify from any angle than Domkirka.

Chris, in case you don't know there is an interesting story to why Angelina performs barefoot. She was traveling in the mid-east with her Grandmother Mery who is Iranian and Angelina ( who was 6 at the time) saw a young girl around her age who was weighing people with a scale on the side of the road to make money to help support her siblings. Angelina noticed that the girl was barefoot and that her feet were scarred , she stopped to talk to the girl and found out that she could not afford shoes because she was poor. The girl asked Angelina what she wanted to do when she grew up and Angelina said that she wanted to sing for the world and told the young girl that from then on she would perform barefoot until all the children in the world had shoes. The young girl said that she would forget her and would pray for her. Angelina wrote a book about the encounter when she was 9 years old and it was published making Angelina the youngest published author ever in Norway. Also Angelina gave the girl the shoes off of feet. Angelina has never forgotten her promise to the girl and still performs barefoot to this day!

Re: Angelina .. doesn't matter if you call it vibrato or peanut butter .. if Angelina is doing it it's worth speaking about it. You are charming and I truly enjoy your reactions and look forward to more. This song today is one of my favorites (I still haven''t figured out which of her songs are not in my favorite list) ... and I always thinkwith this song, as I do with various of her songs, that she is singing about Grandma Mery .. because she always was and still is so important in her life. She most definitely was her muse, and supported her delight in music and her desire to sing all the time and learn how to sing like anyone she admired. The jazz greats happened to come first in her excitement and Grandma Mery was super supportive, as I understand it, of as many hours as she wanted to sing in a day. I believe that is the base, or core of Angelina's extra-ordinary voice.

Some thoughts about this performance (in addition to the fact that Angelina was 10 years old, of course): 1) She's outside on a rooftop in Oslo (not in a studio); 2) She's singing for a television audience (there doesn't appear to be a live audience); 3) She sings it in a single take; 4) She is, of course, singing in English (not Norwegian). Then you can talk about all the other stuff (how she's matured, has more power now, how her breath control is better, etc.). None of that changes the fact that this was nearly perfect. Hi. Norwegian subscriber that voted on Angelina through NGT 2014 until victory was safe. She got 46% of all votes given in the final, rest got 54% divided between the res contestors. Great and lovely reactions from you always, love them. You said you have been struck some times and i think doing Dimash and Diana you need pause every less than 23 seconds(maybe 20 is limit) to do correct by Copyright. For Aurora might be same. When it come to Angelina it is a bit different. Agt and all she have done by Republic records is copyrighted and need pause every 20 second and then you talk/ stop video by changing to a picture for some seconds 3-4.
Tv 2 norway like the one you do now are sometimes hit if you dont pause enaugh. When it comes to the videos from her channels you should be free to se all without break, because i think she want this comercial for her. I never heard her channel strike for copyright yet.

Yes, that IS the best version of that song ever recorded. That's how you sing a song. I learn something different every time I hear it. This time is was the subtle build-up on the line "There's no love-song finer" and the slightly retracted inflection (if that's a term) on that word "finer" that seems to be one of Angelina's trademarks.
In a good sense, we can say that she is "channeling" Ella Fitzgerald, because not only does she follow the melodic line by imitating her voice but she conveys all the feelings delivered in the song by Ella. Thanks Chris for your sincere reactions - I do believe this one will eventually end up in the AJ hall of fame - it is a remarkable performance among many in a significant year of her professional growth and development if you can contemplate that for anyone her age. It is hard to fathom that a 10-year old can lay bare your soul with a voice like that but she does it as well in her remake of Amy Winehouse's Black to Black, Summertime with NRK Kork, Feeling Good on The Stream Gir Tilbake and at Allsang På Grensen, Sing Me to Sleep and Faded with Alan Walker at his live-streamed Heading Home event, and finally her remarkable take on Baby Fuzz's I'm Still Holding Out for You.
By the way this was her last performance she did in Norway and you can feel a special glow in her performance. I guess since she was going a big step for her moving to USA(L.A.) and she was exited and curious how her life would be for the future.
