hey, your channel is really underrated. When I checked your channel, I was just dumbstruck. Your first video felt like you were in the job for 5 years already, the production quality was that great, shit, it was beyond that. I loved how you portrayed the struggles women face through the lenses of the series you tackled. And this one, another amazing work. Keep it up man, keep on grinding and keep spreading your channel on twitter, reddit, everywhere you can, because your works are spectacular. I genuinely hope you achieve the status you deserve some time soon
Im just so impressed by your channel. I would have never guessed the Sharp Objects video was your first, or this being your second. Youre very intelligent and well-spoken. Your editing is engaging too. Thank you!
I actually worked on the Leftovers while at HBO - but I had read the pilot script & just "didn't get it" - so I didn't watch the episodes for a number of years. My boss told me a few times he thought I would really like it & eventually I watched it. By the end, that scene in the bunker & walking out to watch the missles coming in had me sobbing - as did the very end. It was weird, but powerful and deeply moving. Goes to show, sometimes you gotta give things a chance
More, please :) I love the show but i think i love more seeing how other people love it too. No other show has made me suffer or rejoice like this one. The pace of it, the tone, the performaces, the forth and back of the characters dialogs, the music omg the music.... And I could go on and on. But things as they are, you will say it way better for sure, so please, more :)
just finished season 3 and came to watch this vid after the one about the sharp objects. this was very funny. and an education in film language. thanks mate
Love the video. Started rewatching the Leftovers recently and made me curious about seeing if there were any RUclips video essays around. There are very few on RUclips. Very glad to have found this one and wish there were more like yours. However, it would be nice to have some interesting video essays like these in a way that isn’t just you doing exactly the same thing Contrapoints/Lindsay Ellis/Hbomberguy/Philosophy Tube/Folding Ideas does. I mean I really like their videos too, but we got that aesthetic already.
You'll get it. It's a very human show that anyone with depth would get. Its not even a religious show though a few characters are religious and they are characters who are easy to connect to. The primary characters vaguely are agnostic. The show is in modern times and these scenes of the religious people in the 1800's is just a 5 minute opening to a later season. The scene parallels with our main characters in modern times. The show hits on people's faith being broken mostly on how their faith was broken in their partners, parents, friends, ect. And a couple characters share how they feel their faith in God has been destroyed. And the world's faith has been broken in ever finding peace and joy again.
Phenomenal video, keep it up ! What's the name of the background music ? it's a remix of the Departure, but I couldn't find it anywhere online, not even in the Soundcloud you mentioned in the description. Thanks !

Thanks for analyzing the Leftovers… I feel it’s such a beautiful series that isn’t really recognized ❤

I watched the first few episodes in 2014 when it aired and had trouble, too. One of the best decisions I made was to try again in 2016 lol
This is fantastic. Lots of realisations I didn't clock onto in my first watch of Season 3. Time for a rewatch!
I’m glad it inspired a rewatch! There were so many things I didn’t notice until I started writing the script for the video

My friend Sasha made it for me for this video! I can ask him to put it on his soundcloud and let you know when it’s up
@@nickcurl That'd be fantastic , thanks ! Make sure to let him know his remix is one of the best ones for Max Richter's Departure.
