Worldwide Cyclery Hey i have a 120 mm x-fusion rear shox and i wana upgrade to a good brand like fox or rock shox ?? What you recommend and how do i make sure that it will fits?
@@absolutemtb6696 X-Fusion make fine shocks. Changing to a Fox or RS might not be an actual upgrade, depending on the specific model. I actually liked the X-Fusion 02 PVA on my old bike more than the Fox DPS Evol on my new bike... Now going to try a Manitou McLeod.
@@WorldwideCyclery Ik im a bit late, but if I swapped my shock from like the *big part* facing downwards to facing upwards, would that affect my riding??? pls mention back
I upgraded my SC Bronson from a Fox Evolution POS rear shock to the DVO Topaz last year. I struggled for a bit trying to understand the mounting hardware but eventually came to realize my Fox hardware would fit the Topaz. Although I ended up ordering a RWC needle bearing kit for the Topaz. So far the easiest shock ever to do a complete rebuild on, and it requires no special tools. Then too, it's like Prince sang in Lil Red Corvette, "The ride is so smooth". Get you some.
Good stuff! That is some seriously important stuff to know if you are trying to get a different shock on your bike. Quite the learning curve with this MTB stuff!
The hardware is very cross-compatible on modern shocks: I have a RockShox Monarch Plus RC3 that has been installed with full RS hardware, full Fox 5-piece (poly bushing) hardware, and RS spacers with an aftermarket poly bushing and an aftermarket reducer (for custom offset). I've also used old Fox 2 piece and 5 piece (DU bushing) hardware and full RS hardware, as well as new Fox 5-piece (poly bushing) on Fox shocks. If your shock was made in the last 5 years it'll have the 1/2" by 1/2" (12.7mm by 12.7mm, diameter by width) mounting point that everyone uses. If it was made in the last 10 years, 95% chance it'll have the same, with some small exceptions that used 12mm hardware.
Thanks so much. Just picked up a used bike with a rattle + play on the top connection with the frame. Wondering what sort of hardware. No way to post a photo here eh?
Do you need new hardware when you're replacing an existing shock? if so why, b/c it's assumed to be worn out, or it's 1 X use hardware? Just curious, thanks!

I am planning to change the rear travel of my giant yukon fx, can you guys have any idea what is the compatible shock? Its 6.5 eye to eye and 1.5 stroke. What brand or specific rear shock fpr replacement?

I just upgraded my stumpjumper expert to fox dpx2 got the hardware kit from your store too! Original size is 210x50 but went to 210x55, seems working ok so far. But my question why is the upper eyelet is playing a very tiny side to side movement if I force to move it! Is that supposed to have a little play or should be tight?

Unfortunately, I don't have a definitive answer off the top of my head on that one. I'm pretty sure the Super Delux comes in that size but I'd contact Rock Shox to double check on that. If you call them and can't get any info easily just give us a call then we can contact them to double check on the sizing for you.
I bought a replacement rear shock of the same brand but 4 years newer (slightly different model but eye to eye is the same). Do I need to also buy new mounting hardware? (It did not come with the new shock)
I bought recently a RS XX and I replaced an old Fox RP2 and I've seen on youtube that you can take those black bushings out with your hand but on mine was very difficult to take them out. Those bushings came with the sock and were made for that brand. After that I've tried to replace those black bushings with the bushings from the Fox shock(gray) and I had a similar situation, I had to use a vise for that. Fox had those plastic bushings and was easy to fit the others that enters inside but RS metalic bushings have a paint or something rubbery inside and you need to press the black bushings with a special tool... Now I wonder if is ok to leave the bushins from Fox like that? 🤔
I have a new GT force 29er expert 2020 and I’m just wondering if I for example buy the new DPX2 2021 kashima do I need I get it custom tuned even though it’s the same model just a newer model Looking forward to same feedback thanks 😊
I'm new to all this. Suppose I have a bike with a rear shock that has to be pumped up to really high PSI to support my weight. All else equal, that seems undesirable. If I can fit a shock of the same length (so it fits in the frame), same bolt sizes, and the same stroke, but larger diameter, would the reduction in PSI be desirable and significant? Would it screw up the feel, or does that depend on the individual shock? If I can find a longer and larger diameter shock that otherwise fits, can I simply use it over the last part of its travel (lots of sag), or does that also mess up the feel?
Can you fit a shock that is 2mm bigger? My current shock is 150mm eye to eye and 30mm stroke, whereas the Fox shock I'd like to get is 152.4mm eye to eye and 31.74mm stroke. Would it damage the bike or alter the geometry so badly?
It would depend on the bike and would probably take some trial and error to determine as well as voiding any manufacturer warranty. We always recommend going with what the bike was designed to use. :)

Why does the stroke have to be the same, isnt the eye to eye and fitting hw that has to be compatible with your frame? Without checking perhaps eye to eye and stroke are standards. Im just thinking the reason to upgrade is either more travel, more adjustability, old one broke or just want the latest and greatest although old frames probably wont take metric shocks. Can you ususally use old fitting hw on the new shock, ie standard eye diameters and width. I know you said stay with same brand so if both are Fox for example or still not that simple? Makes buying online a bit more difficult..
MidLifeBiker if you change stroke lenght it might develop some clearence issues. Your linkage system might hit your frame before you've even used all of your travel. You must do some changes to your linkage and maybe even for your frame if you want different stroke lenght to work properly. Some bikes might however be easier to mod. Some probikes might have these kind of mods but they have factory engineers to work with.
Santeri Mäkelä is correct, changing stroke can cause serious issues with your frame. Regarding using old hardware, if you are swapping the same brand shock you should be fine with the old hardware. However, generally when purchasing a new shock we recommend you buy new hardware to go with it. That way everything is new and in perfect working condition when installed :)
Worldwide Cyclery I have a 2018 canyon strive al 6.0 and currently have a monarch plus r..what would be a good upgrade with lockout for my bike...appreciate your input
justin in buffalo I've never had issues with Fox Float dps rear shocks. Easy to adjust and tune with volume spacers to your liking. Seems to be pretty reliable too. According to canyon pages strive 6.0 should have monach plus rc3 with a lockout option not sure though. Also DVO topaz t3 might be a good alternative with even more tuning options.
I currently have a Fox DRCV shock on my 2014 Remedy. It’s a pretty linear shock, and I want to add volume spacers to it, but I guess that isn’t possible given with how the DRCV is designed to work. I don’t know if I will replace the shock all together, but I’ve heard that Vorsprung has some options that might be what I’m looking for.
Worldwide Cyclery I would classify myself as an intermediate rider that primarily rides all mountain / trail terrain (not quite as aggressive as modern day Enduro tracks, but also rides XC trails). I love trials riding too and so I want to get better at fast, technical descents, as well as overall bike handling skills. Currently, I have a 140mm F/R platform that has a pretty linear lev ratio, and as I try more technical terrain and trials techniques, I continue to bottom out my rear shock.
Nice! I would suggest checking out the Fox DPX2, Monarch Plus RC3, and DVO Topaz. All are great options that should significantly improve your bike performance. You can send us an email at info@worldwidecyclery.com and we can help you out with sizing too :)
Theoretically you can but only by a fractional amount. You might be able to swap yours out for something 2.5mm or maybe 5mm longer but anymore than that and you are most likely going to cause some issues.
Repaired usually, but ifyou ewally messed your shock up then you are basicly forced to buy a new one, but if i were you i would just let it get checked out
Need some help on this, my rear shock spring is 215 x 63mm so will any 215 x 63mm air shock fit my bike? having lots of trouble trying to buy one as don't want to waste my money, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for watching, you can send us an email to info@worldwidecyclery.com to get more detailed help but all you need to do is measure the eye to eye and the stroke of the shock on your current bike and you should be able to use a new air shock with the same measurements. :)
Manufacturers design their bikes around specifically sized shocks and it is not recommended to use a different size then what your bike was designed to use. What you are trying to do will work as far as the shock fitting because the eye to eye measurements are the same but increasing the stroke will increase travel which can be risky as you run the chance of frame and tire interference. So we would say it is possible but not recommend and if you do go this route just be careful. :)
Worldwide Cyclery thanks for the speedy reply , I’ve actually bought the shock and fitted it today there is no contact with frame and rear tyre on full compression ! Fingers crossed it’s all ok, if I get a 160mm front fork instead of my 140mm would this make The bike handle like crap and raise the B.B. too much ??
It sounds to me like you are looking for more DH performance since you are increasing travel. Not sure which bike you have but I say give it a try, if you are starting with a low BB it shouldn't hurt your descending performance that much. Let us know how everything turns out!
Worldwide Cyclery brilliant thanks .i have a 2016 orbea occam 140mm travel but want to use it for more enduro and downhill bike parks ! Can’t justify the money to buy the new Rallon yet so gonna try and add more travel 👍

There are a lot of shocks tuned specifically for certain bikes but many are cross compatible. If you are buying an aftermarket shock it should be fine to install on almost any bike as long as the size is right. If you are buying a used shock that was OEM on another bike then you may want to make sure that it's tune is compatible with your bike.
I have ridden the DPX2 on several different bikes and I have been really impressed with the performance. The volume spacer kit also makes it really easy to fine tune. So, I'm planning to replace by shock with a FOX Float DPS LV, and the guy from FOX tells me I need to go with a 195 x 45 but I need to change the amount with a bikeyoke (www.bikeyoke.de/en/stumpjumper-2010-2015.html) which I already purchase. To be honest I don't know if that is the right shock to replace it with, according to this: I might loose some travel. What would you recommend?
Depends what kind of riding you like to do, what do you typically ride?
Could I get a shock with a a longer stroke?
Theoretically you can but only by a fractional amount. You might be able to swap yours out for something 2.5mm or maybe 5mm longer but anymore than that and you are most likely going to cause some issues.
that shiney bike on your back bro , can u give the specs on those, i could make it as my dream bike. lol
haha thank you! Send us a msg at info@worldwidecyclery.com and we can provide the specs for you :)
would i be alright if i were to buy a 185x52.5mm and my stock shock is 185x50 ?
IF i'm 330lbs and get a diamondback recoil 29er, What size shock should I get??
is it cheaper to get your shock repaired or getting a new one?
Repaired usually, but ifyou ewally messed your shock up then you are basicly forced to buy a new one, but if i were you i would just let it get checked out
Is this suspension compatible to fit an Ariel rider x class
Need some help on this, my rear shock spring is 215 x 63mm so will any 215 x 63mm air shock fit my bike? having lots of trouble trying to buy one as don't want to waste my money, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for watching, you can send us an email to info@worldwidecyclery.com to get more detailed help but all you need to do is measure the eye to eye and the stroke of the shock on your current bike and you should be able to use a new air shock with the same measurements. :)
@@WorldwideCyclery thanks man, and then if I just buy the correct mounting hardware I should be OK?
im thinking of upgrading my rear fox shock from a 200x51 to a 200x57 what difference will this make to the bikes handling etc
Fingers crossed it’s all ok, if I get a 160mm front fork instead of my 140mm would this make
The bike handle like crap and raise the B.B.
Can’t justify the money to buy the new Rallon yet so gonna try and add more travel 👍
danOmtb Im in the same boat, same bike. Is it working? Was wondering if rear tire would touch the chain guide mount?
My question is if I can increase my rear shox travel?
I like how it's been a year and no one's answered your question on here
Sorry for a No related question, want to get 2.5” front tire to my 27 mm inner rim, would act weird?
Ive got a 2.5 on a narrower rim and its fine. If you get Maxxis dont get the WT version as that is designed for wider 30mm plus rims.
MidLifeBiker Thanks!!!
My shock is a 190x51, can i use a 200x 51???
I have a giant trance 2 small frame and I want to buy Fox Racing Shox Float DPX2 EVOL LV 3POS Factory Rear Shock can you tell me what size do I have to buy 🙏🏽

hey, just wondering, i wanna get a canyon spectral al 6.0. it comes with 160mm at the front and 150mm at the rear. would it be possible for me to upgrade the shock travel by 10mm rather then just put a spacer in it as i would like more sag/travel as i do lots of heavy enduro stuff.
what brand dial caliper do you use?
Hello guys I'm looking to upgrade my rear shock and I'm between 4 rear shocks the dvo topaz t3 air the rock shox monarch plus debonair the bos kirk 2 1way and the cane Creek db il air,any suggestions would be much appreciated.I have an intense spider 26"and i really like the bike but the fox float r that came with the frame is beyond repair plus i need a more heavy duty rear shock. Thanks in advance.
Hi I have a X-fusion rear shock and it's squeeking and bottoming out even though I have 200 psi in it and I want to upgrade it, the length of eye to eye is 190mm what do you recommend
Hey, Peter thanks for watching. Please send an email to our boys at info@worldwidecylery.com. They will be able to see what is compatible with your bike and make some great recommendations. :)
How does that correspond to travel .
Cosmo in the back is even like "say whaaaa."
I have a cannondale trigger carbon 1 it uses a fox dyad rt2 pull shock is there a replacement shock I can get ? Travel is 140/85
Unfortunately you can only run the DYAD in those frames since it's a pull shock.
Does anyone have any rear suspension suggestions for a merdia one fourty 800 2019
Want to replace my Rear Brian Shock on my 2013 Specialized Epic Comp. HELP!?!?!?
What is the meaning behind rear shocks placed upside down ? 🤔 is it even possible or are there specific shocks that just "appear" to be upside down ...
Hi there I'm back again, will a fox vanilla R have the size bushings as a fox float ctd evolution? They are both 215 x 63mm, any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks for watching, can you please email our guys at info@worldwidecyclery.com with the detail as to which bike you have so we can help you out. :)
Good morning, you can do a maintenance of the Shox vivid Air R2C 2012, because mine is defective, and I can not fix it. Would you also like to know if I can replace nitrogen with normal Air Pump? Thank you. it would also have to show this maintenance in the IFP. Or I could do the maintenance of some Shox that had these two compartments, the Air is the oil, so I can build up the courage and be able to do maintenance on mine, because in my city it does not do maintenance and I would have to send the Shox to a city that is more than 1000 kilometers from mine. Thanks. I'm form Brasil
Hey Thank you for watching our video! Can you please send this in an email to us at info@worldwidecyclery.com we would love to help you find what you are looking for! :)
Can i got from rockshox to fox? Anything to consider?
You can, you will need to get the correct size mounting hardware for the respective shock brand but you can switch on most bikes.
How does travel fit into this?
Working on upgrading to a not 5th Element
If I have a 120mm bike, what do I have to change to make it say a 140mm bike (in the rear)?
Send us a msg at info@worldwidecyclery.com and we can help you out :)
Worldwide Cyclery Ok. Thanks!
Does a shock need to be tuned for each specific bike or can I just fit it?
There are a lot of shocks tuned specifically for certain bikes but many are cross compatible. If you are buying an aftermarket shock it should be fine to install on almost any bike as long as the size is right. If you are buying a used shock that was OEM on another bike then you may want to make sure that it's tune is compatible with your bike.
Looking to upgrade the shock on my YT Jeffsy 29, any recommendations?
Send us a msg at info@worldwidecyclery.com and we can help you out :)
hi all, i have a Yeti sb5+ and a want to upgrade my rear shock, which one do you recommend ? fox DPX2 or Rock Shock?
I have ridden the DPX2 on several different bikes and I have been really impressed with the performance. The volume spacer kit also makes it really easy to fine tune. This is the size you will need, check it out: www.worldwidecyclery.com/products/fox-shox-2019-float-dpx2-rear-shock-7-875x-2-200x51-3-pos-adjust-kashima www.worldwidecyclery.com/products/fox-float-x-and-dpx2-air-spring-volume-tuning-kit-1-2-shaft
Fox X2 is the one
i have a fox DHx2
Justin Rees nice! Do you like it? Best you've used?
I have a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Expert Carbon EVO 29 2014 (www.specialized.com/us/en/stumpjumper-fsr-expert-carbon-evo-29/p/49655?color=151503-49655&searchText=93314-2302) the shock that came with the back just doesn't lock, when climbing you can't really standup because the sag is unbelievable, all watts go down the shock. Also, to fit the LV, the shock will have to go upside down, which I don't this this will affect anything.
0:00- 0:03 is this a JoJo's refrence
Seinfeld :)
Worldwide Cyclery oh yeah!!!! I always get that confused with the JoJo's part one ending
Worldwide Cyclery haha the clue was Kramer on the screen. ;) Great vid
Can you help?
What if my shock size its 185mm x 55mm and i want to fit new one which has 200mm x 57mm???
Ha, love the Seinfeld intro.
Can we get a more indepth video
I am sure we can put something together :) What other information are you looking for?
You could do something on the different tunes available and how to figure out which one to go for depending on the bike and riding style.
Can i install 216x63 replace my exist 210x55?
Gotta like a good stroke ;)
