Hands down, HEART was the best female band in Rock History. I’m 1 of those women who think Rock should only be sung by guys, except Heart. To this day, Anne and Nancy are legends, and their voices have never changed. They sound as good today, as they were in the 80’s. They still give an unbelievable show. This song always makes me happy. I grew up on them (48 now) and this song’s energy is so contagious. “Now walk those legs right over here...” oooh!! 👍🏻🙆🏻♀️
Back in 1986 my sister and I were in a talent show. We did a lip sync, air guitar performance of this song. If I were able to share a picture in my comment I would, haha! Good times!
Funny thing is, Ann and Nancy absolutely HATED this and other videos they did in the 80's. They weren't comfortable being over-sexualized like they were. You can see they make Nancy like a Lita Ford clone and Ann struggled with accepting her weight all because of pressure from the record label.
@@RandomPau Yeah the songs aren't bad and they did perform them live through the years. They just got swallowed up in the 80's hair-band vibe, weather willingly or not. But if they didn't take a chance to roll with the times they wouldn't have had the second wave of their success like they did. Double- edged sword. Hell I grew up in the 80's and everything was about sex, drugs, and rock n roll. Not complaining. My teen years were pretty wild!
both sisters can sing. sadly several music magazines hinted that not only where they sisters but also lesbian lovers. as ann's weight problems continued the male members of the band wanted to boot ann. nancy wasn't having any of it so they both quit for a while and kept the name but performed under other names for a while.
Lots of memories here. I was a single mom to 4 little girls when this album came out. Many nights, my girls and I cleared the furniture in the living room and using hairbrushes for microphones danced and belted out the songs on this album. We just about blew the doors off that rocking single wide trailer I was renting! All the girls are grown now with kids of their own, 2 of them are grandmas, but they still love Heart's music.
These two sisters of Heart were always so talented.. they rocked the airwaves in the 80's and gave me great days riding down the highways of America well into the 90's :)
I truly enjoyed your reaction to this song & video. Ann & Nancy Wilson are true hall of fame legends. Nancy's guitar work is still very influential today. I remember when MTV premiered this video in September of 1985. The video & album went to #1 and the song hit #4. Lita Ford released her video for, Kiss Me Deadly, in February of 1988 and her label made her look like a clone of Nancy Wilson. The female band, Vixen, released their debut album in September of 1988 and their label made all four of them look clones of Nancy Wilson. Lmao... I miss the '80s.
Lol, the bigger the better. When I was going put to party, I was always concerned about my hair not fitting in the car. Compared to what's happening now, I kinda miss those days, simpler times. Great, now I sound like my grandmother.
When this video was filmed they did headshots because they didn't want to put Anne on because she was overweight. They did the same to c and c music factory had a skinny girl portray the singer. Today they are mad because Adele lost weight . People are strange Jim was right
I remember both those entertainment media instances.. and it's a shame... so many talented women in the music business can be large and are beautiful. My mother was Latina and not skinny but strong and had the biggest heart for giving to others. Adele is very beautiful big or skinny now and I hope she only did it for her health and not for approval of the masses or industry bosses.
Who today is upset Adele last weight? Surely not the music executives. I mean look at Adele's earlier videos they did the same to her. I don't see the correlation. *shrug*

I've seen Heart live before. It was in the middle of the 2000s, but both Ann and Nancy Wilson were still sounding pretty good and still rocking after so many years.
One shameful fact: they thought that Ann had put on a little too much weight, so they barely show her and concentrate on her skinny, blonde sister, even though Ann is the lead singer. Ain't nothing wrong with being thick.
terrex28 Yes, so sad. Ann’s voice is the showstopper in this band but unfortunately it’s always about image. Thankfully times are a’changing some now, but we still have a long way to go.
Nancy Wilson said her vixen like appearance in videos like this one was an illusion. After having seen Heart multiple times live over 4 decades, uhh, no it isn’t....
Love ❤! I Remember when this song came out! God how I miss the 80's! I had the time of my life! Back then. TIME IS THE HOURS THAT COME, AS THEY COME JUST TO PASS! 😥😥
God, I haven't heard this song for YEARS! I forgot how GOOD it really is. Of course it's Heart so it's going to be mind blowing, like every single thing they have ever done!
💯🤘🤘 And Ann hated that song for the longest!!! Especially when she first heard the "whiney demo" as she called it. So she if course rubbed her magic on it, but still resented it for a long time, mostly because of what the label was putting her through then. But it is fantastic and she has grown to actually love it and performs it again. Funny enough, Lzzy Hale covering it is what helped her gain her more appreciative view lately of it. That came directly from Ann in an email response to me asking her about the while history with that song. I was actually surprised to even receive an answer at all. It was very cool of her to take that time!!! 😊
Ian Crouch I like that in concert they change it up and it starts out kind of acoustic until she gets to that second chorus and then really goes nuts on it
One of the fun songs of Heart. Holly Knight brought her lead guitarist from her band to write this with the Wilson sisters. HK played keyboards in this recording. The only song the sisters wrote from self titled album that was a hit. The other hits were written by outside writers. The record companies forced them to hire outside writers + hire guest performers. They hated those demands!
Wow I was a freshman in high school when this came out. I remember hearing this every day on the bus and mtv playing this 20 times a day in 1985 when mtv actually played rock music what it was intended for
I have to laugh, this is when Heart went from being a rock band to a hair band. Big make-over with big hair, over-the-top outfits and lots of pouting. They also used outside songwriters but it succeeded, they sold a lot of records.
If you like Heart, its their great come back from their late 70's, they came with this song called "What about Love" which is a big hit and then after this song, they came another big hit in "Never".
Holly Knight is a genius, you need to react to her band Device with Hanging On A Heart Attack (which also featured one of the writers of this song Gene Black in the band on Guitar), and her solo hit Heart Don't Fail Me Now (which had Gene Black on Guitar on that track and her album)
I used to work as a stagehand at a local concert venue. I got fired for speaking to the talent when in a packed catered dining room there was no tables anywhere. Nancy sees this and offered me a chair at table with her and Ann. I sat down and first thing I did was say thank you for the seat . Then said "OK let's get this fanboy shit out of the way and told them how many times I'd seen them perform. My boss sees me talking to them and fired me while still sitting at their table . Nancy spoke up and explained situation. I got to finish the night at work but was never called to work a show again.
There was, and still is, so much noise around Ann's weight but I'll be damned if she hasn't always been one of the most beautiful women on the planet in my eyes. Not to mention a voice that demands even the angels sit down and shut up. If you want a tear-jerker listen to her acceptance speech at their induction to the R&R Hall of Fame. She's the best right alongside Janis.
Oh the styles back in the day. I even let my Boho style go (for about a minute) to emulate that hair. With hair past my butt, it was quite a feat, ergo, "for a minute" These lades were (at least to me) the prettiest in the R&R scene. Still beautiful to this day, and Ann's voice is still amazing!

I bet they didn't hate cashing the checks for this album considering it's their biggest selling album ever by far (5 MILLION units sold in the U..S alone). Now they basically never play any of their 80's hits because they didn't write them (easily verifiable fact), or if they do play one they completely change the arrangement/s so as to essentially render the song/s unrecognizable. I lost all respect for the Wilson sisters years ago. Their biggest period business wise was absolutely in the 80's, and I didn't hear them complaining at the time, then when grunge came in and killed the 80's they (like so many others) claimed they hated the decade, and now basically won't touch it. Well so far as I know NO ONE put a gun to their heads and made them record these songs that enabled them to make millions of dollars from touring and album royalties etc..
