to me the og map felt like it had alot more love, sneaky places to hide, hidden rooms with chests, fun goofy eastereggs and all sorts of stuff. game takes itself too seriously now
the map itself was hot ass, but it had the smaller things that gave it life like the working basketball hoops. i get that they don’t have basketball in Europe but come on, theres a soccer field that diesnt shoot confetti when you score 😐
I think the Ted talk I watched from school can be a good example in this being that having a lot of space starts to drain you and make you unhappy while having smaller things makes you at peak happiness and more manageable to deal with, OG Fortnite was small and easy to have fun with I agree, I think it's the just building part of it that killed it for me since now sweats made it unplayable and the false promises they made saying stuff like they'll bring back the OG Pump when they just made the nerfed and changed pump.@@stanloonaguys_
@@Steve21_harris i am good. being good at the game only provides fun for like 2 weeks and then the game gets boring. having fun shit in the map to discover keeps it fun for longer
Remember back in chapter 1 when we had wallpapers in battlepass that not only showed bits of the story but also had the location of a hidden free level token that you could search for it? I really liked that, it was the little things they did that made the game unique and fun, it had it's own goofy but cool personality, we don't really have any of that anymore
What confused me was why bring back OG Fortnite to get attention on the game for what was to come with Chapter 5. When Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, Fortnite Festival, Hyper Realistic Graphics and Vehicles, and more collabs were the exact opposite of what people liked about OG Fortnite.
I’m pretty sure it’s cause the player base was low and that epic wanted more players to play their game and they knew OG would attract their playerbase
I think it was to be like "look see it wasnt all that good just nostalgia" but it backfired, i mean thats why CSGO has lived so long because you made something people kike o dont change it
Epic hates OG Fortnite because they hate BR. They want to be a metaverse. They want to be Roblox. Being known as a BR game or having BR be BY FAR the most popular mode is holding that back. It's that simple. This would explain why they stopped with weekly updates. Why BR always feels bland and copy/paste now. Why there's no story. Why they ruined the locker UI by splitting everything up. Why they got rid of the old school cartoony graphics. Why summer and winter events suck. Etc. They don't WANT that identity. They want us playing garbage Creative 2.0 or Lego or racing, etc.
They’re milking this game with collabs so people will keep playing. They also keep using legacy styles for the Fortnite crew instead of having extra styles because they’re lazy and think people actually want that
Great video! Glad I got this recommended to me. Donald Mustard had such a creative vision. He cared about his players so much. The current higher ups now don't have that sorta feel anymore.
Epic doesnt WANT BR to be their main focus anymore. When Tim Sweeney took over, he had a vision of turning Fortnite into a "metaverse". Thats why they largely do not care about BR anymore. Every season feels the same. Seasonal events are trash. No more live events or story. At the end of the day, they have much bigger goals for what they want Fortnite to be, and putting so much focus into BR just isnt worth it to them anymore. They'll probably keep doing a yearly month long OG season just to get players back on the game, just so they can push their new unreal engine projects into people's faces. Its no coincidence that they did the OG season right before releasing Lego fortnite and rocket racing. Fully expecting this to be the new norm Sorry for the essay, but thats my 2 cents
they werent doing og fortnite as a money incentive. they did it for the true hardcore fan base. fortnites obviously doing fine, idk why they'd need to make more money.
@@pubs7826Thats why fortnite went from like 2mil concurrent on br in season og to 100k on br in ch 5? Be fr fortnites old formula is far more popular.
@@gronkasaures-rex9711 that's not true, across all br modes there's over 800k players on the game rn and that's at the end of a season. there was probably close to 2 or 3 mil at the start. stop acting like u know what ur talking abt when u dont even look up the facts. and no the old system wasn't "better" It was js nostalgic
a lot of things that made chap1 the best chapter (imo) was the loot diversity in a way that guns actualy evolved (getting buffed and nerfed) with items interacting with builds and without forgetting the traps
I agree with what you are saying, but I believe that Donald still wanted BR to have the spotlight, in terms of love from epic and events, ECT. That is why he left, he liked what epic was doing to expand fortnite, but he didn't like how BR was just becoming a showcase and not the core of the game.
Disagree The Weapons weren’t balanced at all and you’re acting like the weapons are never balanced now when in reality they changed the guns the same, the only reason it feels different is because of no weekly updates
@@joeywhite1463 You are like 12 years old with the way this comment sounds. The new maps are trash, OG fortnite is one of the best games ever and united the gaming world
@@joeywhite1463Minecraft is literal pixelated blocks and is the best selling game of all time what are you on about? Just because a game doesn’t look like war zone and play like apex doesn’t make it a shitty game. You think the map is trash but give no valid reason.
Wanted to add this comment to support OG Fortnite. I started playing Fort way back in late 2017 before it spiked then took time off for several years (life stuff) & played mobile on & off, but now I’m back on console & the game I feel has definitely lost it’s identity. Like I don’t feel connected like I used to. OG Fornite was an incredible experience compared to what the game is today.
It’s pretty simple epic doesn’t care about anything that made Fortnite unique and what it was, all they care about is Collabs that’s why they got rid of Donald mustard that’s why we haven’t had a just pure fornite season that didn’t revolve around some collab since probably chapter 2 season 2 or 1
They didn't get rid of Donald Mustard he stepped down, it was his decision. The plan was always to be a metaverse, even Donald Mustard wanted the game to be like one.
@@ltisdabest21yeah but BR was supposed to still be the main priority, Epic started to ditch battle royale and just normal Fortnite so Donald left, plus it’s obvious that Epic is purposely making the game worse so people play creative 2.0 which has gotta be one of the worst strategies in gaming history
Idk what you mean by “Season that hasn’t revolved around a collab” We’ve only had two (Both being Marvel, and one isn’t even out yet and I’m typing this). Yes, nearly every Battle Pass after C2S2 has had a collab skin, but that doesn’t mean that the season completely revolves around said collab
As a player who joined in chapter 2 season 1, playing Fortnite og was extremely fun and I absolutely loved the art style of the older seasons. The simplicity yet the complexity was insane. Something about a game having such a simple premise (land, loot and be the last one standing) and yet being so complicated, by having many strategy's and different fun things you could do in every game made it never become repetitive. Modern Fortnite is way to complicated, with all the bossed sprinting sliding, wall mantling, weapon mods, teleporting water, etc. I THINK FORTNITE SHOULD GO BACK TO ITS ROOTS OF BEING A SURVIVAL BASED BATTLE ROYAL. Every one forgets that it was originally planned to be a survival game, that's where it got its cartoony graphics and post apocalyptic style from. Look at Retail Rows for example, it looked abandoned and destroyed making it seem post apocalyptic. I along with many other players loved that type of style the game had, the weapon designs also looked cartoony and post apocalyptic being a lookalike to a real weapon and not actually being a real life weapon like the scar. there is no real life scar but there are weapons that look similar to it. Other weapons like the tactical SMG look like they were built out of scrap parts and look very cool. I think Fortnite should go back to being a simple battle royal with cartoony graphics.(sorry I just felt like ranting💀)
@@jacquestube That modernized is the exact reason why it was way worse then chapter 1 that whole chapter had like 3 good seasons and even that is a stretch
@@somefatkid2080 look I never played OG originally but I did play the OG map when they brought it back and it was okay but it was I didn't like how if you fell into the ocean you died I didn't like how there was such a shortage of Shield I didn't really like the weapon choices either. You can say three seasons if you like but those three seasons were fucking awesome season 1 was amazing season 2 was amazing, the Alien Invasion one was great the Marvel Avengers season holy shit that's probably the best season of the entire fucking game. It's all downhill from there
@@jacquestube If you think those seasons were great you should of been in the actual chapter 1 of fortnite they were miles better in every way the season og you played is very different the sprinting was never there the loot pool was similar but very different water wasnt swimmable and the things you had a problem with were what shined with fortnite the old cartoony feel that doesnt take itself seriously and it doesnt feel modernized those seasons in chapter 2 you mentioned were all great but they werent on par with the best chapter 1 seasons not by a long shot
I don't think it's even that "complex" right now. More like optimized. Think about it: Epic laid off 800 ppl 7 months ago, a lot of others quit over the years, like Mustard. The core fortnite team that was invested in development of the game and actively played it is mostly gone. There's no incentive to add quirky trifles like silly vehicles, weather systems, different fishes and so on - because for the majority of stuff at Epic games this is just another day at work and not some passion project they feel personally attached. It's more of an "industry standart" type of work, hence it feels so unengaging. Fortnite's goal today is to create a "metaverse" system in which it will be easier to sell a lot of cosmetic items. Great video.
This did not age well😭 now the item shop is 700 pages long with the same 50 skins the locker has 250 tabs the battle pass has 4 tabs and even the lobby has thousands of modes
It really does feel like Fortnite is just a marketing stunt to show off what they have and what they can do rather than being its own thing and owing it. It’s so disappointing to see this, season og should of showed epic what they should of done moving forward, before a new map felt crazy and exciting now it’s just a new patch and that’s it chapter 3 and onward really had me stop caring about new maps
Exactly bro epic needs to stop showing off their graphics that we don’t want, they look cool but we want the cartoony bright style 1-3 had not the style we have now
Fortnite is really a test for Unreal Engine 5 so they use the game to test out the new features of that specific engine and Collabs are used to make more money off of the game. without collabs, if the game still stayed the same like it did in 2018, it would've kind of gradually died down a lot with a majority of the playerbase not playing it anymore and plus there wouldn''t be that many new players so Collabs adds a lot of flavor and texture to the game
I don’t care if they bring back chapter one ever again I just wish we kept the same art style and same graphics from the beginning like the purple nights and the orange sunsets. I wanna see the secrets like in chapter 1. Stories in the map changes
that month of og was the most fun ive had playing a multiplayer game in years and made me start wanting to play competitive again. completely lost interest in the game once it ended. really do miss wanting to grind that game
There are a lot of changes that could make Fortnite better in my opinion like less collabs, more live events, simpler guns, etc. , but one big one I don't think people talk about much is bringing back the old style of the game. The chapter 1 look of Fortnite was iconic and when it got replaced in chapter 2, it felt like a whole new game, or at least to me. Now it seems like every season, Epic Games is trying to make the game seem more and more realistic, when the thing that people fell in love with at the start was the cartoonish graphics, the janky looking guns, and the bright colors of the game. Even small changes like them removing the rarities on skins makes them feel less collectable compared to back in like season 4 when they sold what would be rare skins nowadays as legendry's.
@@Its_A.Secret618Chapter 1-3 has cartoonish graphics but chapter 1 had the most cartoonish ones. Like yes ch2 and ch3 graphics is way more cartoonish than chapter 4 and 5 but ch2 and ch3 was still trying to be more realistic than chapter 1
I agree with you 100%. The collabs are getting ridiculous. I didn't ask for the magneto gloves. They also took away a map that me and my friend loved and that was Hazy Hillside. While no map can beat the original, Hazy Hillside just felt so engaging and peaceful. I loved the location and the fact that they removed it was awful. Also the live event I tried to Attend for one of the seasons I couldn't. It was at 2:00 am my time, but I still sacrificed my sleep for the live event only to be kicked out of fortnite despite being there like 1-2 hours early. I also agree with you on how every season feels the same. It always feels so boring. Like come on, Fortnite doesn't feel like fortnite anymore. The only reason I'm still playing it is because my friends play it. I only play it with friends and not solo.
Season OG is probably the Season I preformed the worst at (getting only 9 crown wins lol I suck) but man it was so fun to play it. Me and my friend especially had fun when the Quad got added in and wow, we'd just boost and laugh our asses off whenever we spun out of control and landed on the ground. Season OG was amazing
the game was dying bigtime then they brought the one reason what made fortnite fortnite which was chapter 1 fortnite and it revived the game so much it struck them a deal with disney the fact that they dont want it to exist makes me sad bc its literally what made the game thats why EVERYONE came back.
Yep epic games partnering with Disney has hyped people up but Disney is known for making bad decisions in their company so I wonder if they will do the same to Fortnite
This is ironic looking back because we have reload, the new OG mode coming in December, and 3 other battle royale modes in the works for chapter 6. I agree with most of these points when talking about the game as a whole though.
This couldn’t be all the more apparent after they DMCA’d Project ERA, which was currently on Season 8 of Chapter 1. Epic hates the notion of people enjoying BR over their new metaverse-y modes. They want you to play their Need For Speed, Guitar Hero, and LEGO Worlds/Minecraft gamemodes *cough* ripoffs *cough* instead and forget about BR entirely once you get bored. Why do you think LTMs aren’t frequent anymore? Remember Solid Gold, Close Encounters, Unvaulted, and Floor Is Lava? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
100% true and I feel like they poured too much money into it for it not to overtake BR so they’re doing everything in their power to shove it down our throats
Brilliant editing, and brilliant explanation! The month of OG feels like a dream compared to the filth we have with chapter 5. As a competitive, serious player who started in chapter 1, nothing they’ve done since chapter 4 began has been nearly as cool or played as well as OG Fortnite.
@@ltisdabest21the problem your statement is that it's objectively wrong. Objectively, the older chapters were better which is clearly reflected by player counts and how much the game was relevant in chapter 1 and 2
Donald Mustard's last season he worked on was Vibin Donald left because Tim Sweeney wants to focus more on the Metaverse the live event team moved to Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and maybe Fortnite Festival I think
yea like on the old bootup screen with creative + save the world, they should put og and modern fortnite. og could have all old ui, mechanics, and weapons back without modern fortnite contaminating it like it has been. reload is a joke tbh
@@EshDerp1425_MonkeIt wouldn't do that much, I've played fortnite since about season 3, I've seen bigger moments. It wouldn't affect the servers that much dawg.

I feel like the story of Fortnite is a small company coming out with something they didn't know would be one of the biggest games in the future, and how that money brought them into greed, where they no longer care about the game or players, but rather the income they make. That would explain why the game is so unoriginal now and how its not getting better any time soon. Its crazy to hear how Donald talked about when the game first came out how we he wants it all to be original to Fortnite, and now it seems he and his team couldn't care less about what they add to the game, just as long as it makes them money they are good.
The whole "losing identity" shit that people are talking about now makes my blood boil, because when I felt this way in 2020-2021, I always got people telling me I was just being overly nostalgic and didn't like change; when it was clear that the shift from original content to collaboration oriented content was a sign of things to come. I personally dislike the shift from the cartoony to realistic style HEAVILY because it ruined the game's identity for me a long time ago. The instant Chapter 2 dropped and Save the World got discontinued, it was the beginning of the end times. It might be a hot take but Donald Mustard is partly to blame; he wanted to make Fortnite his ultimate fanfiction and as a result, that betrayed its original aesthetic, also giving Epic the opportunity to build a "metaverse". Now Fortnite feels like it's trying to sell me shit from other companies all the time rather than being an independent experience that stands proudly. I don't play PVP games often and I certainly don't care about Battle Royale anymore.
@@TheKillerMothI love the "identity" chapter 2 had. The collab secret skins, collab locations, and even a Marvel season was such an original part of the game that took so much effort and creativity from Epic! Truly such an inspired era. Very distinct.
@@SuperStarK1n nitpicking hard, more then the majority of skins were original the marvel season was one season we had 7 other seasons that weren't collab based
I just found out about Season OG and it is a very interesting case here. As you mentioned, Fortnite lost a lot of its player count by 2018 and I feel like the true OGs would've appreciated a Season 3/4 comeback instead. I was one of those players who smashed out seasons 1-4 and sort of stopped playing much during Season 5 and I never played after Season 7. To me, even Season OG doesn't feel as OG as it probably should because I was still relatively new to that season at the time.
This is the video I wanted to make. THANK YOU! I just want the game I played years ago... and it isn't nostalgia - I genuinely think OG Fortnite was just better in nearly every aspect.
agreed. When I came back to play I was like, "Where did the old maps go? Where is fortnite? What is this game? Is this fortnite now?" Because back when I quit there was a shark in the water that would jump out to eat you and the og map was still a thing.
@@PokidotGamerX 1) Sharks weren’t introduced until Chapter 2. 2) The OG map was Chapter 1, not Chapter 2, so you are wrong about that. Each chapter introduces a new (and unfortunately worse) map.
I tend to look back on older seasons and the little things in them like the hud, style or even the graphics of them and it all just makes me feel nostalgic for that much simpler more focused on style and art direction era of Fortnite
This season started strong with the Midas stuff but then they ruined it with Avatar and SW. Except the Cado Thorne Season, it always goes the same for me. I get hyped in the beginning, buy the BP and then after a week I lose my interest because some random collabs I dont care about become the focus point. I then come back solely to finish the bp and get my vbucks back and the cycle repeats. Until the next OG season, I think I‘ll drop out and spend my time otherwise.
You know, most of all, I'm afraid that our attempts to reach the epic management will not help and the game will slide to the level of an ordinary money squeeze.
I find it funny that they pushed Lego Fortnite, rocket racing, and festival so hard and yet it has about 5 times less players then battle Royale. Fortnite is slowly becoming more like Roblox, having no main game mode, but having a bunch of different games on it. They are also slowly censoring certain things such as skins in creative, the path they are heading down is a greedy corporate one, similar to EA or Ubisoft.
A lot of the things you said is stuff ive been saying since the beginning of chapter 5 ( with og as well) and its nice to see someone talk about these complaints ive had
honestly i agree fully with this idea however i do want to say that a big reason as to why they might not be in love with the idea of OG fortnite is because whenever they release the new seasons and nobody likes them people still play and still support it by playing what they say is "bad". if people just stopped playing out of no where then epic being epic would likely give us what we want
season og was a month long to keep the og map from losing its specialness by being around for too long if they didn't think season og would do well they wouldn't have put it right before chapter 5 they were trying to attract as many returning playings into trying the new game modes lol
Yeah I don't understand how everybody that talks about season og actually believes Epic hates that season. Epic knows people really liked the older seasons that's why they plan on releasing a season og for chapter 2 (if leaks are true). They also stated that they saw the success season og achieved and that they want to bring it back.
@FattestGarfield🗿 They’re gonna end up pulling in a fraction of the people who came back for OG 1 and then all the chapter 2 glazers will be proven wrong
What really annoys me with reload (as much as I genuinely love it, usually more than the main br season,) is that it shows directly that epic still knows how to make a map and new poi’s that fit perfectly into that cartoony chapter 1 -3 style. And how to make a good loot pool without making copious amounts of terrible new remakes of beloved weapons and also how to use old poi’s in a new map without them overshadowing everything else. It’s really upsetting to see incredible poi’s like the dock poi and the forest poi on The main reload map and the new mineshaft poi, desert town poi on the new reload map. If epic could just make a map using the chapter 3 graphics with the reload style poi’s with a few old poi’s mixed in every now and again without flooding the map with collaborations or new poi’s meant to be more realistic or formulaic for a battle royale game that goes through minimal changes throughout the entire chapter (pleasant piazza for example) would be so much better for the game and to see epic showing their capabilities of doing that and their understanding that players want that, to see them not do it to their core game mode is sad.
A new chapter for me just feels like chapter 1 again but way more different now 😢 since they’re lootpool in chapter 5 s1 was just 6 FCKN GUNS and everyone using the same loot basically
Dumb modern day gaming decisions like this, is why I stick to games like OG Tetris. People who don’t like OG Tetris, either haven’t played it, or wouldn’t know a good game even if they programmed it and probably think EA is the best game company in history.
The bew modes should've been separate games. The items wouldn't be a problem since Rocket League has proved that unlocking certain items in one game can "unlock" them in the pther games.
I feel like one of the main things that made fortnite, fortnite was Donalds amazing story writing. Chapters 1 - 3 felt like one big book with each live event ending on a cliff hanger making you wonder whats next And each end of chapter event felt amazing The End resulted in the zero point recreating reality zero from the ground up The End² resulted in the island being double sided which was amazing feeling especially in that 1st flipping scene and felt like a superhero movie for the whole experience Fracture was..... Pretty mid gameplay wise tbh but in the lore it was amazing! The Zero Point finally exposed and uses all the power it has left to gather parts of every reality it has ever made to make a new island and atmosphere just to keep it & the loopers safe becoming dormant since then After Fracture the storyline just hasn't existed, most of the chapter 4 seasons didnt make sence aftwr season 1 All of the Mega biome rifts in somehow?? I thought rifts were connected to the Zero Point & thats dormant so how does that work?? Then the next season theres just a jungle inside the island? The fracture event had no jungles what so ever & if it did we would have seen them in the islands floating around. Did the Zero Point stick them there as one last security measure during fracture or something? Because theres no way reality zero Reality 659 and the ageless' reality all makes a perfect jungle naturally. Then the next season Kado Thorne just somehow puts 3 massive chunks of his reality throught a time machine?? How does that work? Then season OG happened which What the hell happened inbetween season 4 & OG? We never got a cinematic. Anyway 1st 4 mins of the big bang were amazing A great recreation of the end (atleast music wise) i still don't get how strapping a time machine on the rocket forces the Zero Point to big bang again but ok whatever Rest of the event was just 1 big advertisement. Anyway my thoughts on actual Gameplay since no one will read that big Yap session about the zero point. Personally I think they should just keep it simple, like they did for chapter 2 Season 1 This gun shoots fast This gun shoots slow No mods no nothing just a simple gun and thats it. Don't think they would need to do anything with non gun items Most of them this chapter seems like they would be in OG Especially since flowberries are just portable hop rocks. Also if the leaks are true and we get chapter 2 for our OG this year it should really be renamed to "Chapter 2 Re-Looped" instead of Chapter 2 OG since atleast in fortnite terms OG means OriGinal Chapter 2 is not the Original map so therefore should not have OG in the name of the season. Anyway yap session over bye 👋
Fortnite OG was the first season since Chapter 2 Season 3 I played daily and regularly with my friends who had returned when OG came back. None of them play anymore and quit when chapter 5 came out.
Idea #1 - Cycle through OG Seasons weekly: Instead of having every season available at once, or only having one OG Season indefinitely, cycle through different seasons weekly so people aren't getting tired out of the same thing over and over again. Idea #2 - Transforming the Season 1 map: The Season 1 map + Tilted Towers is here, but with a twist. This map gets separated into multiple islands, some stay relatively the same, others get complete makeovers, this would tie into the lore somehow because this shouldn't happen naturally (it'd make no sense). Slowly these islands would come together, connect, and create a new island, Welcome to The True Reboot!
I love Fortnite, but one of the biggest problems with Epic Games is the treatment of the games they bought. They are blind to what the community of those games want and don’t want. For example in Rocket League they removed trading, which was a pillar of the game that no one wanted gone. I hope they start to hear the backlash from the people who want to save their game.
Fortnite OG was the last season of Fortnite I will ever play regularly. I’m 23, with a full time job. Everything they’re doing with the main game is just way too much. OG Fortnite let me just hop on and play with friends like old times and have fun. Doesn’t feel the same way now
I really miss the OG maps in fortnite. I loved the neon city. Now granted, I absolutely love zero build because as someone who's bad at building in fortnite, It's a great gamemode for me without having to worry about enemies spamming walls in front of them faster than I can shoot it down no matter how much I shoot it. However, I would have liked to have seen zero build also have the OG maps, like the neon city and the OG houses you could loot. Me and My friend have started playing reload mode because it feels so nostalgic with the OG fortnite style that I knew and grew up to love back in season 2-3. It felt like how fortnite was supposed to be. I just feel like fortnite has definitely lost it's identity, because it doesn't feel like fortnite anymore. At least to me, it doesn't feel like the fortnite I once knew. I feel they've changed it so much that it doesn't really feel like fortnite anymore.
Honestly your right I can remember a time playing if fortnite my friend made a story about his skin being a toy soldier and how he was abandoned by his owner being rifted into the world to fight we laughed I don’t think we ever had those types of memories in new games
I’ve always thought ch4 and beyond feels like modded fn, ch2 and 3 changed the art style a bit but you could still see that was inspired from the old one, ch4 and beyond is literally just throw anything at the wall and hope it sticks with no regard to the identity of the game. There is still a part of the development team that tries to be consistent with the games identity and I see that in things like the shockwave hammer, the rocket ram (which are highly regarded as the fan favourite items of ch4, I wonder why) and some of the ch5 items like flowberries/flowberry fizz feeling like very goofy fn style items, but it just doesn’t matter when they add anime mythic or decide that every weapon now has mods and bullet travel and change the game to look nothing like what it used to
imo, as an old player who played from season 5 to 8, and only got back into it last december (true story the peter griffin skin alone got me back into fortnite lmao) ive been heavily enjoying the wackier and more out there ideas. airbending was one of the most fun ive ever had in fortnite i aint gonna lie. but i 100% understand the greivances with the wacky ideas that stray further and further away from fortnites true identity and totallu sympathize.
it would be so cool if they would make a weekly rotation of the first 10 seasons and every week we get to play a different season. maybe even include some early chapter 2 seasons.
Had a lot of fun with the Fortnite OG thing they did. Made me not only comeback to the game but I found myself playing it regularly throughout November. Wish it came back
Y’know, Fortnite is really something. You can have goku doing a fucking hollow purple at Travis Scott while his teammate, Eminem fights Aang with My hero quirks while spiderman third parties the fight and ends it with a kamehameha.
Fortnite as a game has always been changing so it’s no surprise that its identity changes too. It’s weird when you have people that want to experience what the game was like years ago but if the game never changed it would have died much much sooner. The game is an absolute blast with friends (both new to the game and veterans) because the game is never the same. But making OG a separate mode where it puts old seasons in rotation for about a week at a time would be really cool.
Damn I wasn't even missing OG Fortnite until I started watching this. What a great game, man. I came back when they did that rewind season last December I think. Game just felt soulless.
As a person who started playing in chapter 2. Season OG was my second most favourite season, after season 2 chapter 2. I hope that they'll do season OG chapter 2 or something
I don't think the metaverse idea is a bad thing since Fortnite has actually building up with this idea since chapter 1 with the whole thanos event in season 4, it was more of a gradual thing that was a part of Donald Mustard's plan which meant that the game was going to change and evolve over time to a completely different game plus the metaverse idea sounds good because people can play with either their favorite character from a TV show or movie or their favorite musician, it brings up a lot of fun opportunities for the game. They also change up the whole look for Fortnite because Fortnite is basically a massive ad for Unreal Engine 5 to test the new features of that engine and how everything works. Plus as many people have said before, if the game just stayed the same look and everything else, it would've probably started to died down around chapter 1 season 8. so a lot of these changes were needed to keep new players engaged into the game for a long time
Yeah but donald mustard didnt want br to be left in the dust with no storyline, events, and its charm being thrown away. This is exactly why he left because br was being taken as a side project while the metaverse is the big thing, this isnt how he was envisioning the game to evolve, his main idea was br, the map, storyline, and the zero point being the essential core to fortnite holding the game together (in terms of lore, and possibly even ultimately) while uefn, the metaverse and the modes are floating around the main core being battle royale, this is atleast what was said on the interview, the team was working on the modes in mid 2022 and therefore the last season he oversaw was ch3 s3, the exact time this whole thing happened. Now the game could have evolved with its unique identity, charm and style it originally had WHILE also being donald mustard’s envision of the ORIGINAL metaverse, this would still keep the same idea the team had WITHOUT stripping away its originality and ever evolving br magic and charm. So no, the game wouldnt have died, unfortunately epic is just expanding the metaverse idea too solely while costing the life of br, game’s originality, identity, style and charm.
@@krxize Yep I agree that the game shouldn't remove live events and the map changes since those things were an essential part of the game and would make people more hyped for the next season, nowadays, we rarely have any longlasting hype for the newer seasons since we don't have big live events anymore, we only had one during the past year which was the big bang event and that one was kind of weak but yeah, as I said the metaverse is a good idea, they just needed to have a nice balance between live events, LTMS, and the new game modes

I can picture Tim sweeney crying himself to sleep when Fortnite: OG was the success it was as it basically said "Nobody fucking wants or cares about your metaverse shit"
Alright some points are correct but Og fortnite would have Collabs because donald wants you imagining you as a kid playing in a backyard With action figures so he got collabs because its wacky So yea I like collabs :)
The issue with the collabs is that its the main selling point now, i dont remember collabs being in the battlepass, just the shop and maybe a gamemode instead of adding op weapons to the core game
I personally, like the way they do it. Any game, for it to live longer than a basic cycle of time, has to be able to consistently pump out massive amounts of content and appeal to a wider and wider audience base. This important fact is missed by most idiots who hate on the meta verse mentality. They fail to see the bigger picture- the fact that this meta verse is inevitable, to create that necessary content influx. The something for everyone mentality is literally vital, and even though Epic might not be doing it properly, atleast they're trying, and they're letting the players have fun along the way. You choose to have fun. The game can be trash, but if you have fun friends it's still fun. The reality is, it's not the game that's bad, it's the people that have grown older and desperately want to recapture the frenzy of their childhood. As someone who works with younger kids, I see the same spark that I once had playing fortnite in their eyes, when they play the same season that you deem trash. It's not the game. It's the player. The sooner people realize this, the sooner they'll stop hating on the game.
TF2 not having a major update for 7 years but a update only adding a few new maps.makes it hit it's highest player peak: You dont need constant slop, you need to have enough good content to hold the game up long after the devs stop caring
this is not true at ALL, i dont even know how you believe this. Team fortress two is much older than fortnite and has lackluster updates, and is still going strong because it hasnt changed how the game works. a game only being fun when you play with friends does not mean its a good game. the only remotely valid point here is the last point, but children being the decider of what makes something quality is silly. "The game can be trash, but if you have fun friends it's still fun. The reality is, it's not the game that's bad, it's the people that have grown older and desperately want to recapture the frenzy of their childhood" I hear this a lot, about all sorts of games and its just entirely incorrect. people dont want the game to be the exact same it was when they were a kid, which is proven by the OG season. the game just currently has all sorts of issues. I'd rather die in the top 50 than win against bots, its so unbearable when the entire point of the game is PVP and you cant even get into fights until the last 10 players. Currently the game literally has an aimbot 'gun', I've played a couple rounds and its entire purpose is it shoots and aims for you. How you wrote this comment, understood all the words and thought it was still correct is bonkers to me. People DONT want the game to be season 1-10, they want it to be good.
Epic shifting to focusing on kid only content is the biggest mistake they could've made. I pretty much hate the game and most their skins now. I'm amazed they had the Alien skin come out. Can it even be used in Royale now?
Fellow fn creator here. Dope vid. How do you get such high quality content of the trailers and other gameplay that’s off YT and not yours? I assume downloading it?
Hey man glad you like the video. To answer your question yes I download fn trailers and gameplay to better emphasize my point when discussing a specific item, game mode, season, etc.
I used to watch guides on how to do battle pass challenges in chapter 1. I would race to do challenges the second the udtae would finish. Grinding to tier 100 felt so worth it in the early seasons. Getting john wick in season 3 was great achievement. Now I don't even look at the challenges because it doesn't matter. I canget level 100 from creative or fortnite festival
Epic's biggest problem is that they absolutely do not respect any of their older games and content. Unreal and Unreal Tournament were delisted by epic, making them impossible to legally play now, and that mentality is present in Fortnite with how much they implement FOMO in Fortnite. Missed a battle pass season? Now you will never be able to get an iconic character that used to be available.
Players are quitting because of epic games abandoning br mode. They are loosing massive players count. The core players had enough with epic games destroying the game. Fortnite needs to be Fortnite not metaverse.

@@ltisdabest21 ''og'' ''Chapter 2'' LMAOOOO
@FattestGarfield Well unfortunately for you chapter 2 is whats coming back later this year
@FattestGarfield🗿
They’re gonna end up pulling in a fraction of the people who came back for OG 1 and then all the chapter 2 glazers will be proven wrong
@@Mojixzengonna be crazy how 5 people play it
season OG was some of the most fun i had with my friends in fortnite ever since chapter 1
Chapters 1 - 3 felt like one big book with each live event ending on a cliff hanger making you wonder whats next
And each end of chapter event felt amazing
The End resulted in the zero point recreating reality zero from the ground up
The End² resulted in the island being double sided which was amazing feeling especially in that 1st flipping scene and felt like a superhero movie for the whole experience
Fracture was.....
Pretty mid gameplay wise tbh but in the lore it was amazing!
The Zero Point finally exposed and uses all the power it has left to gather parts of every reality it has ever made to make a new island and atmosphere just to keep it & the loopers safe becoming dormant since then
After Fracture the storyline just hasn't existed, most of the chapter 4 seasons didnt make sence aftwr season 1
All of the Mega biome rifts in somehow??
I thought rifts were connected to the Zero Point & thats dormant so how does that work??
Then the next season theres just a jungle inside the island?
The fracture event had no jungles what so ever & if it did we would have seen them in the islands floating around.
Did the Zero Point stick them there as one last security measure during fracture or something?
Because theres no way reality zero Reality 659 and the ageless' reality all makes a perfect jungle naturally.
Then the next season Kado Thorne just somehow puts 3 massive chunks of his reality throught a time machine??
How does that work?
Then season OG happened which
What the hell happened inbetween season 4 & OG? We never got a cinematic.
Anyway 1st 4 mins of the big bang were amazing
A great recreation of the end (atleast music wise) i still don't get how strapping a time machine on the rocket forces the Zero Point to big bang again but ok whatever
Rest of the event was just 1 big advertisement.
Anyway my thoughts on actual Gameplay since no one will read that big Yap session about the zero point.
Personally I think they should just keep it simple, like they did for chapter 2 Season 1
This gun shoots fast
This gun shoots slow
No mods no nothing just a simple gun and thats it.
Don't think they would need to do anything with non gun items
Most of them this chapter seems like they would be in OG
Especially since flowberries are just portable hop rocks.
Also if the leaks are true and we get chapter 2 for our OG this year it should really be renamed to "Chapter 2 Re-Looped" instead of Chapter 2 OG since atleast in fortnite terms OG means OriGinal
Chapter 2 is not the Original map so therefore should not have OG in the name of the season.
Anyway yap session over bye 👋
Fortnite OG was the first season since Chapter 2 Season 3 I played daily and regularly with my friends who had returned when OG came back. None of them play anymore and quit when chapter 5 came out.
Idea #1 - Cycle through OG Seasons weekly:
Instead of having every season available at once, or only having one OG Season indefinitely, cycle through different seasons weekly so people aren't getting tired out of the same thing over and over again.
Idea #2 - Transforming the Season 1 map:
The Season 1 map + Tilted Towers is here, but with a twist.
I hope they start to hear the backlash from the people who want to save their game.
when donald started talking abt the "bulldozer" and "armor plating" ik we were all thinkin the same thing 😭
I don’t like how they keep trying g to make the graphics “better” but they lost the art style that made it look so good in chapter 1
Fortnite OG was the last season of Fortnite I will ever play regularly. I’m 23, with a full time job. Everything they’re doing with the main game is just way too much. OG Fortnite let me just hop on and play with friends like old times and have fun. Doesn’t feel the same way now
I didnt think I was gonna see a killdozer reference in a fortnite vid. Nicely done and RIP KILLDOZER
SUPER underrated video! Excellent work! 🔥🔥
Honestly your right I can remember a time playing if fortnite my friend made a story about his skin being a toy soldier and how he was abandoned by his owner being rifted into the world to fight we laughed I don’t think we ever had those types of memories in new games
The original thought process used to be “let’s make something only Fortnite would do” .
I’ve always thought ch4 and beyond feels like modded fn, ch2 and 3 changed the art style a bit but you could still see that was inspired from the old one, ch4 and beyond is literally just throw anything at the wall and hope it sticks with no regard to the identity of the game.
There is still a part of the development team that tries to be consistent with the games identity and I see that in things like the shockwave hammer, the rocket ram (which are highly regarded as the fan favourite items of ch4, I wonder why) and some of the ch5 items like flowberries/flowberry fizz feeling like very goofy fn style items, but it just doesn’t matter when they add anime mythic or decide that every weapon now has mods and bullet travel and change the game to look nothing like what it used to
theyre so focused up on their metaverse that they dont care about br
I hate the new season, I hate the attachments, I hate the movment.

New season dropped this past weekend and this video aged like a fine wine because of it.. lol
imo, as an old player who played from season 5 to 8, and only got back into it last december (true story the peter griffin skin alone got me back into fortnite lmao) ive been heavily enjoying the wackier and more out there ideas. airbending was one of the most fun ive ever had in fortnite i aint gonna lie. but i 100% understand the greivances with the wacky ideas that stray further and further away from fortnites true identity and totallu sympathize.
it would be so cool if they would make a weekly rotation of the first 10 seasons and every week we get to play a different season. maybe even include some early chapter 2 seasons.
Had a lot of fun with the Fortnite OG thing they did. Made me not only comeback to the game but I found myself playing it regularly throughout November. Wish it came back
They bring back all OG seasons on december 6th bro 😭
@ ik 😂 very happy now. Definitely coming back to play it
I miss the original sounds guns made when you picked them up during the games beginning. Miss it.
You explained this perfectly
you cooked with this video. everything was so on point
The funny thing is that this only really started after Donald left he was the only one who didn’t fully turn it into a promotive mess
the execs are literally delusional, think they’ll earn money without thinking about their own players and releasing shit.
Fortnite is basically super smash bros 💀 but 100x less fun
"because people can play with either their favorite character from a TV show or movie or their favorite musician" that's the thing tho, most collab skins are battlepass.. want darth vader? boba fett? khaby lame? peter griffin? nuh uh, you didn't play back then, so you cant.
@@Krisztian08 Yeah, that's true but there's also collabs in the item shop as the TMNT skins and the avatar skins, A few of the musicians such as Travis Scott and The Kid Laroi was in the item shop
If these companies like Epic, activision, etc would actually listen to the community and bring back how the game used to be they would be making a lot more money. I don’t understand why they don’t realise this
They don't care about the players they care about investors
@@gabrielblanchard3081 and the thing is they’ll probably gain more investors once they start making the game good and listening to players
release og fortnite as a separate game for an upfront cost
I can picture Tim sweeney crying himself to sleep when Fortnite: OG was the success it was as it basically said "Nobody fucking wants or cares about your metaverse shit"
I think a main factor is that employees need to do something and if they kept OG it wouldn’t require much work
The sad part about this is that we cannot actually do anything about it right now. Epic looks not at the fun of the game itself but at the money.
I wish Fortnite would have a definitive ending then pull a season og for every chapter in place of new seasons
For are those people whom say epic don't want br
Fortnite at start wasn't even a br
Evolving always is needed
No way u only have 3k subs
keep up the great videos
I couldn't agree more with you, very clear and well realized video man
Epic's biggest problem is that they absolutely do not respect any of their older games and content. Unreal and Unreal Tournament were delisted by epic, making them impossible to legally play now, and that mentality is present in Fortnite with how much they implement FOMO in Fortnite. Missed a battle pass season? Now you will never be able to get an iconic character that used to be available.
❗Epic does not hate og
Fortnite purpose was to test and showcase unreal engine features.
Thats why they keep changing the game so much.❗
stop eating the epic slop and wake up
We kinda got it now with Reloaded🤷🏻♂️yeah its smaller/shrunken down but her it has all the core POI's

Players are quitting because of epic games abandoning br mode. They are loosing massive players count. The core players had enough with epic games destroying the game. Fortnite needs to be Fortnite not metaverse.
