Mike........I laughed my butt off when I saw Evil Roy with a bandanna on and heard your narrative. Please keep it up and stay well and safe as we all love you like a brother.
In 1968 Dad came home from an Ohio Gun Collector Show with a Replica Arms (Uberti) 1861 Colt. It became my job to cast roundballs for it, and to also disassemble, clean & reassemble after a trip to the range. This is the old, pre computerized manufacturing Uberti, so much of it has been hand-fitted. It is smoooth and accurate - smoother than the current production models. I've gone on to 1860 Armies, and 1858 Remingtons, Rugers, and even an 1851 Colt Navy (with that tiny and worthless bead front sight). The 1861 is still my alltime favorite.
I bought one of those back in the mid 1990's. It's a beautiful gun. General Custer carried two of them. I'm not a fan of Custer. Good shooting there! Pennsylvania's a great black powder state.
I just purchased an Uberti 1861 36, and was searching You Tube. 1st video up was yours shooting the your 1861. Along with the 2 1858s I bought last month, black powder really has my interest. Really enjoying your videos...keep em coming.
thanks for taking me shooting Mike ! I live in Cal, and all my ranges are closed. And thank you for dressing up... really got me juiced to go shooting again :-)
Don't feel bad, it's the same here. (Probably just about every where else too, except privately owned land). I haven't fired a single shot since last fall!
Mr. B., you have a great sense of humor and have made my day with this video. I enjoyed such days at the range and in the woods back in the 80s and 90s. Your video takes me back. I look forward to your work always. Thank you!
I have not had as much luck as you with the reduced main spring. I got a lot of miss fires in both my uberti and Pietta 1860 Army's. I been eye balling that 1861 Navy I may have to get one. Thanks mike good video as always..
Black Powder TV he would have had to file taxes for 2018 or 2019 for that to happen. There is no way he could have claimed/hidden all those ill-gotten gains, he would have the same problem as Al Capone. Even Evil Roy is afraid of the IRS.
I've always loved your videos. During all the Covid issues over the past year. I've spent much time at my private range. My 61 navy has seen a lot of use recently. I decided to retire my pietta 51 navy, (brass frame) it was my first cap and ball revolver.
It is A good thing you took care of Evil Roy , I read in the New York Times April 5 he was arrested for his antics but released April 25 because of the spread of covid-19 in the jail system .
Nickel the back strap and trigger guard like I've see on many original 51s and 61 and even 1860 cartridge conversions as well as brass. It looks like silver plating. I may buy an 1861 since no one has an 1851 now and no back orders.
I know that 1861 is supposed to be lighter and better, but I can see why folks preference the 1851 Model. I love the octagonal barrel design. I also like your hat. Thanks for the tip about Wild West Mercantile. They have great Western apparel and accessories. I picked up some very nice items from them. Take Care and Keep Shooting, Mike!
I have 2, absolutely fantastic revolvers. They are my go to gun for shooting on my property. I use track of the wolf nipples, so far perfect. Uberti navy's, 51 or 61 have perfect springs in my opinion. Any 44 Uberti Colt spring needs upgrading to a firmer spring. My Taylor's conversions work perfectly on my pair of 61 Navy's. Great video as usual, its so good to see you, thank you. I so love the sound of black powder revolvers in the woods, sounds like my 11 acre woods. Always ready for a yankee invasion here!
I have been meaning to pick up a 1861. Would love to add a navy caliber carbine to my collection, so I ordered the grip and backstrap for a 1873 revolving rifle from taylors and co. thinking of maybe a cherry stock.
Good to see you again! Go Squire! Good 'ol Navys! I m having a lot of fun with mine! Authentic Colt Series, two of them. Well, I fire one of them and keep the other one in new reserve. Two old Model Navys too! I fire a light elongated 122g, a medium 130g and a heavy 148g. No filler , . Only BP and a few drops of good oil on the loaded balls. Curiously this Navy weighs just as much as the New Army! With the new 'Silver Steel' why didn t that 'ol Colt trim its barrel/cylinder weight (barrel thickness)? The New Navy not selling, Curiously, the New Model Pocket of Navy Caliber, which came out, it seems a f t e r Colt died (Colt personally designed the Creeping Lever models), was modelled after the popular Old Navy (by the folks that took over?)!! I wonder if this was due to the want of making it more appealing? You know, riding the coat tails, so to say, of the popular Navy?! Hmm?
I just got my first Black Powder revolver - a Pietta 1851 Navy . Personally I like the octagonal barrel better than the round. Perhaps other people felt that way back in the 1800’s? That would account for the proportions of sales ! Thanks for this video , Be Well !
Gotta say it...That is some pretty damned good shooting. I have the same model and recommend it highly for anyone that enjoys black powder, or shooting in general. High maintenance...yes....High enjoyment factor....hell yes.
I believe that the creepin rammer Colt's are the best lookin revolvers ever....ever! However I never heard anyone say that they were easier to machine, seems counter-intuitive to me. I would have thought the straight lines of the 51 would have been cheaper to machine than the sexy curvy lines of the 61....Hmmm. Thanks for an other episode of keeping Evil Roy from running roughshod over the country side. Once again Hans Up proved a bit more difficult to contain, another job well done.
Best percussion handgun by far . I’ve got a Uberti 1851 Navy London model and if it was good enough for Wild Bill it’s good enough for me . I think your right about the wood grips . Noticed you was shooting low to avoid the neckerchief 😂
I am a fan of the Uberti 61 Navy. It's a lot of fun at the range. I can really ring the 30 yard plate at the range with it. Uberti seems to make a good revolver.
Great work as always Mike. I gotta say, I agree with Sam Colt. The 61 is just a better looking gun than the 51. That's just mine and Sam's opinion though. They're all beautiful.
Good shooting! I'm fixin' to go down to our back forty and do some shooting with the 1862 Colt Police. But I know I won't hit the targets as well as you do.
Hi Mr. Beliveau, thanks for continuing to provide content during the epidemic. I think that the new style colts are lovely, but that the '51 has a certain panache that's hard to get past. Oh, and the octagon barrel (especially, I think, on the London model) has an allure all its own. Could you comment on the state of uberti replicas in recent years? I see that you noted fit and finish problems, how is the chamber/bore sizing (I've heard that undersized bores are common) and internal part hardness? Have they gotten any better? Thanks.
Does the Uberti 1861 Navy have an 8 in. barrel like the Pietta 1861 Navy? I ordered and bought the Pietta and it came with an 8 in. barrel. I also some years back I ordered and bought the Pietta 1862 Police, and when that came it had a 5.5 in barrel but then I was surprised that it t came with a half fluted 6 shot cylinder. Pietta has been good firearms but they seem to miss the historical correctness. I really love the 1861 Navy Lindon model you have. Thanks for sharing.
Mike I get such a thrill out of your videos I'm sitting here at the guard shack at my little gated community in 18-hole golf course watching your video and laughing out loud peoples going through my driveway wondered what's wrong with the guard signed Joe security Oklahoma
I just got one of these but have been having trouble with misfiring and barrel coming loose. It’s on it’s second trip to Cimarron warranty repair shop. Wasn’t the London Factory shut down in 1856, five years before this gun was made? Did they still have blue frames in 1861 called “London Model”?
Nice shootin pard. Having a hard time even seeing the sights on mine with my 50 plus year old eyes. May have to give in and finally get some glasses. Lol. Hate to be on the receiving end of any draw. Keep the videos coming. Love the history and technical information you provide.
Why was the 1851 so hugely popular and the 1861 a minor success? is there really much difference in the feel and balance to an experienced gunman? I think its a beautiful design and don't get it why it was so under appreciated.
Very nice video. I have a Uberti 1851 Colt Navy with a brass back strap and a Uberti 1851 Colt Navy London Model with just the steel back strap. I also have a Uberti Colt 1861 Navy with a metal back strap. Did Uberti also make a Colt 1861 Navy with a brass back strap? I'm a little confused. Thanks as usual for another great cap and ball video.
The 1861 is a beautiful handgun! Are there plans to put it on paper? Seems like you missed more in this video than usual but I still enjoyed it just like all of them.
Mike: Plenty of great info, as usual. You frequently shoot both Uberti and Pietta revolvers. Sometimes in the same video. Do you have a preference between the two brands?
Just looking at the 61/36 one has to wonder, it the barrel isn't the same at the one on the 1860 model Army, with just a little bit smaller whole through it?
Way to go Mike , Another Great Black powder video ! Poor Evil Roy takes the brunt of your venting , but someone has to sacrifice ! Great Job ! Dirt Hawk Ya'll !!
Mike........I laughed my butt off when I saw Evil Roy with a bandanna on and heard your narrative. Please keep it up and stay well and safe as we all love you like a brother.

The 1861 is still my alltime favorite.
I have had both the 51 and 61 Navies by Pietta. The rack and pinion loading lever does make a remarkable improvement.
I bought one of those back in the mid 1990's. It's a beautiful gun. General Custer carried two of them. I'm not a fan of Custer. Good shooting there! Pennsylvania's a great black powder state.

That first group on Evil Roy was impressive, rapid fire with one hand. Damn fine shootin' .
I just got a Sheriffs 1861 to enjoy during the quarantine and love it. It’s my most reliable Colt pattern revolver I own.
I'm jealous, I wish I was 2 miles away from my nearest neighbor.
Robert Scott my neighbors wish they were 2 miles from me too.
You and me both buddy, You and me both.
thanks for taking me shooting Mike ! I live in Cal, and all my ranges are closed. And thank you for dressing up... really got me juiced to go shooting again :-)
Don't feel bad, it's the same here. (Probably just about every where else too, except privately owned land). I haven't fired a single shot since last fall!
You may try to find a local shooting club with an annual membership. Many of the private ranges are open in Cali.
Love the 1861. My Replica Arms ‘61 was built of Uberti parts in 1970. Best shooting revolver I ever owned.
Enjoyed the video and the history. Appreciate it very much.
Such a graceful looking pistol! Definitely one of my favorite BP revolvers!
Love the period gear and super shooting!
Mr. B., you have a great sense of humor and have made my day with this video. I enjoyed such days at the range and in the woods back in the 80s and 90s. Your video takes me back. I look forward to your work always. Thank you!
Excellent video Mike. Great job on the Uberti 1861.

Evil Roy story was funny. Keep having fun out there.
I hope Evil Roy got his Stimulus Check. Poor feller...
LOL!
Black Powder TV he would have had to file taxes for 2018 or 2019 for that to happen. There is no way he could have claimed/hidden all those ill-gotten gains, he would have the same problem as Al Capone. Even Evil Roy is afraid of the IRS.
I love those grips Mr. Mike!
The ending was great.
Greetings from Mechanicsburg PA. Love your channel and love the content. Thank you
That's pretty funny about Evil Roy trying to rob a bank from the drive-thru.... Great video... again!
Each to his own, Mike - I love the look of the Navy.
Great video Mike!! All contents were spot-on!!
Great video!! I have always enjoyed your fun and informative work.Gotta have a 1861 Navy now!!
wowsers! Easily one of the coolest guns in the west used by one of the coolest youtubers. Great commentary aswell keep up the good work. 👍
You come up with the best names for your targets.
I've always loved your videos. During all the Covid issues over the past year. I've spent much time at my private range. My 61 navy has seen a lot of use recently. I decided to retire my pietta 51 navy, (brass frame) it was my first cap and ball revolver.
I started off with a brass frame as well, in 1972.
@@duelist1954 since the recent inflation in price and demand of modern ammo. Those of us with an armory of black powder firearms are surely grateful!
Love those navy revolvers, I like the wood grips. Good choice!
It is A good thing you took care of Evil Roy , I read in the New York Times April 5 he was arrested for his antics but released April 25 because of the spread of covid-19 in the jail system .
Can't wait for a video review of Hans Üps Nerf pistol.
Nickel the back strap and trigger guard like I've see on many original 51s and 61 and even 1860 cartridge conversions as well as brass. It looks like silver plating. I may buy an 1861 since no one has an 1851 now and no back orders.
HaHa....great story about poor old Evil Roy. Also great review of the 1861 navy. There goes part of my stimulus check!
Mike... I'm glad you made the decision to replace the wooden grips back on. They seem a lot more classic. Shoot lots and stay safe.
Excellent, fun, and thorough reviews. On some of the most excellent black powder revolvers. We love this stuff. Peace
I know that 1861 is supposed to be lighter and better, but I can see why folks preference the 1851 Model. I love the octagonal barrel design. I also like your hat. I have 2, absolutely fantastic revolvers. They are my go to gun for shooting on my property.

My Taylor's conversions work perfectly on my pair of 61 Navy's.
Great video as usual, its so good to see you, thank you.
I so love the sound of black powder revolvers in the woods, sounds like my 11 acre woods.
Always ready for a yankee invasion here!
Multiple shots, then a smokescreen.
*Deadly.*
God Bless you!!!
This is great, Mike. Exactly what we needed.
Great seeing you burning some powder Mike! Stay safe!
Mike your tip of using milk carton cut out worked great for keeping my powder dry from the lubes patch. Thanks for the tip
WOW! You can actually see the ball going through the air toward the target, Evil Roy.
I'm thinkin it's more likely a wad. Hmm? Cool effect just the same.
I have been meaning to pick up a 1861. Would love to add a navy caliber carbine to my collection, so I ordered the grip and backstrap for a 1873 revolving rifle from taylors and co. thinking of maybe a cherry stock.
This with the poly grip is easily the prettiest modern black powder revolver in existence
Great video mike I hope to see more in the future
Good to see you again! Go Squire! Good 'ol Navys! I m having a lot of fun with mine! Authentic Colt Series, two of them. Well, I fire one of them and keep the other one in new reserve. J'adore comme toujours vos videos, be safe and take care, from France.
Gotta say it...That is some pretty damned good shooting. I have the same model and recommend it highly for anyone that enjoys black powder, or shooting in general. High maintenance...yes....High enjoyment factor....hell yes.
I think I like the wood grips better too. Poor evil Roy he can't catch a break, but he can catch lead very well LOL. Keep up the great work.
I believe that the creepin rammer Colt's are the best lookin revolvers ever....ever! However I never heard anyone say that they were easier to machine, seems counter-intuitive to me. Thanks for an other episode of keeping Evil Roy from running roughshod over the country side. Once again Hans Up proved a bit more difficult to contain, another job well done.
For a second there, I thought you were channeling Arizona Ghostriders with the Evil Roy story.
Best percussion handgun by far . I’ve got a Uberti 1851 Navy London model and if it was good enough for Wild Bill it’s good enough for me . I think your right about the wood grips . Noticed you was shooting low to avoid the neckerchief 😂
Watchout boys! Sheriff Beliveau is back and he's got his spiffed up new '61 navy gun loaded and ready for a fight!
The wood is the best looking on that revolver.
God Bless you!!!
I am a fan of the Uberti 61 Navy. It's a lot of fun at the range. I can really ring the 30 yard plate at the range with it. Uberti seems to make a good revolver.
Hey Mr!, Maybe you should make a video based on Marty Robin's, Big iron on his hip. I don't know what caliber that was. 🤔👍
Great work as always Mike. I gotta say, I agree with Sam Colt. The 61 is just a better looking gun than the 51. That's just mine and Sam's opinion though. They're all beautiful.
Pretty good shooting still even with a miss.
Good shooting! I'm fixin' to go down to our back forty and do some shooting with the 1862 Colt Police. But I know I won't hit the targets as well as you do.
I love wood and steel. With the exception of the A5 I do not like glossy finishes, preferring straight oil, no lacquer.
Beautiful pistols sir and you have them shooting pretty good thank you for sharing this one sur
3:33 if the 1861 was twice the price of 1851 , then no wonder was undersold
Stay with the ivory, liberty, reminds me of Wild Bill.
Darn that ‘Evil Roy’... whupped him well enough. And the wood is prettier in my humble opinion.
What a beautiful gun l love your vids, but please stay safe my friend cheers for Australia
Hi Mr. Beliveau, thanks for continuing to provide content during the epidemic. I think that the new style colts are lovely, but that the '51 has a certain panache that's hard to get past. I see that you noted fit and finish problems, how is the chamber/bore sizing (I've heard that undersized bores are common) and internal part hardness? Have they gotten any better? Thanks.
Fantastic video, Your right, I like the wood grips better too, they just look like they belong.
as always I enjoyed the video.
Them cap and ball hit hard
Does the Uberti 1861 Navy have an 8 in. barrel like the Pietta 1861 Navy? I ordered and bought the Pietta and it came with an 8 in. barrel. Are the sights on the 61 any better than the 51 with respect to ease of use and/or point of impact?
Not especially.
@@duelist1954 thanks
I just got one of these but have been having trouble with misfiring and barrel coming loose. It’s on it’s second trip to Cimarron warranty repair shop.
Wasn’t the London Factory shut down in 1856, five years before this gun was made? Did they still have blue frames in 1861 called “London Model”?
Another good one! Thanks.
Loving it!❤ Thank you.
Nice video 👍
I wish I could have some revolvers.
Nice shootin pard. Having a hard time even seeing the sights on mine with my 50 plus year old eyes. May have to give in and finally get some glasses. Lol. Hate to be on the receiving end of any draw. Keep the videos coming. Love the history and technical information you provide.
Sorry, any draw facing you, I meant.
Try some low power reading glasses. I'm 73 and I find that a pair of cheap low power readers allow me to see the sights and the target.
Thank you sir, I’ll give it a try 👍🏻
mike youre the best.
Great video, Keep them coming. Good old stories. Hahahaha.
Great vid Mike! Love your mask.
That is a beauty. But I dig those eagle grips.
Why was the 1851 so hugely popular and the 1861 a minor success? is there really much difference in the feel and balance to an experienced gunman? I think its a beautiful design and don't get it why it was so under appreciated.
My '61 navy is my favorite revolver, percussion or cartridge.
Do you prefer the 61 or the 51? Does the cosmetics and cam make the 61 favorable or the traditional look of the 51 make it? Thanks
Valuable Video, want to buy!
Nice gun. I have 1862 "Rebel Confederate" frome Uberty it`s the good thing.
Like that Evil Roy has a mask on! HA!
Another fun video.
Mike,,,,What's the reason for the reduced power main spring ? Great videos ,,stay safe.
should have a contest winner gets to shoot there, I like the rem better I load mine with 50 cal sticks as much as it can hold plus the bullet.
The 1861 is a beautiful handgun! Are there plans to put it on paper? Seems like you missed more in this video than usual but I still enjoyed it just like all of them.
Cool video!
Mike: Plenty of great info, as usual. You frequently shoot both Uberti and Pietta revolvers. Sometimes in the same video. Do you have a preference between the two brands?
Cant wait for my local shooting club to re-open... New smoke pole and rock-lock pistol to work on :)
Just looking at the 61/36 one has to wonder, it the barrel isn't the same at the one on the 1860 model Army, with just a little bit smaller whole through it?
David Tong Yes, you are correct. To my knowledge, the one with the correct barrel profile was the short run of USFA 1861 Navys.
Way to go Mike , Another Great Black powder video ! Poor Evil Roy takes the brunt of your venting , but someone has to sacrifice ! Great Job ! Dirt Hawk Ya'll !!
Great video. Do you recommend .375 or .380 round ball for the Uberti 1861 Navy? Thanks.
