As a Chinese, the story of "Journey to the West" is a household name. The idea of Black Myth Wukong comes from this. It was written by "Wu Chengen", a novelist from the Ming Dynasty in China. His creativity is wild and unrestrained, mainly around the story of the four monks and apprentices of Tang Dynasty learning from the scriptures. The book is one of the four famous ancient Chinese novels. depicts a fantastic oriental world. As far as I know, the video shows a spider monster, but I don't know the specific plot, because the authors must have adapted the story.
Kind of feel like the cutscene was about to show a signal that gamescience is not just rushing for a good game but focusing more on story telling. The "get out" warned by the giant spider was more likely to be said in a protective way, so it's sort of like a attitude transformation after ( i guess) some specific matter, and we shall see how everything will unfold when the game comes out, cant wait to see anyway!!

In fact, the giant spider and the girls are probably two storylines. The ending scene happened a long time ago, and “快逃” it didn't mean to get out, but to run away.
The post at the end of the video has a pair of wooden couplets, while the wood at the beginning of the video has decayed. Maybe it implies a predestined relationship between the old spider and the main character in the past. According to the novel, the uncle of these spiders is a centipede with boundless power.
I saw this game months ago and I felt like it's too good to be true. The visuals are unbelievable, the concept is amazing and honestly games with Chinese culture theme/myths are interesting and they give special vibes.

*SPOILER Ahead + BACKGROUND Story: The developer has told that they are gonna change the original story to create another version of Journey to the West (that happens after the ending of novel). This particular clip is telling us the story between 2 important characters in the novel: Zhu Bajie (Male) who is one of the 3 companions like Wukong for their monk teacher to protect him along the journey to west, while the 2nd important character here is ChangEr, which is the old lady presented in this video. *Original Background Story: In the original story, Zhu Bajie was originally a god in heaven but broke the rules by falling in love with a fairy goddess, ChangEr. Not only falling in love with her, he even accidentally caused a chaos in heaven while persuing his love and to get attention from ChangEr. Sadly, he only found that ChangEr has no interest with him and because of the mess he created, he is being punished to the Earth to experience unlimited torturing life reincarnations that caused by his love for others, which is one of the most suffering causes - Betrayed by Love. In one of his reincarnations, he became a half Pig half Man who falls in love with a girl. Of course you would see the ending of this one-way-love isn't gonna end well but he is eventually saved by his Monk Teacher and promise to help the Monk Teacher by joining him to the journey to the west, while helping and learning the way of life in the journey. *Game Story: The developer rethinks how the story may goes with the original story. What if.... ChangEr is actually in love with him as well, while breaking the rules of heaven together back then? Of course they made some adjustments in the original legend as well. In this story, ChangEr is also punished by the Gods of Heaven, and she is turned into a Spider Demon. Why a spider demon you may ask...For those who are well versed with Ancient Chinese Legends, there was a group of fairies which we normally call The Seven Fairies who are the Goddess of Weaving (An interesting fact why the Spider Demon sisters are normally came with 7 person even in the original story). There was a saying that one of the Seven Fairies is actually ChangEr. Note that this is a punishment for the love that is prohibited in Heaven among gods, the punishment by heaven usually comes in an irony way. Previously, ChangEr was one of the Goddess of Weaving in the form of Silk Moth (A bug that produces silk by sacrifing itself) with the spirit of scarificing herself to help people, but now, she has became a Spider Demon who weaves only to kill, not for love. How sad and irony is this punishment... Not only that, remember that Female Spider will eat the Male after the intercourse...Along the reincarnation of Zhu Bajie, both of them met in this life, but became enemies, since one is protecting his Monk Teacher while the other side is trying to eat the Monk Teacher. Because of their positions in this life, it looks like the god is still punishing both of them in this life in the crueliest way possible... But in this particular clip, the developer is showing the idea that when the Journey to West ends, ChangEr is still waiting for him despite after so many years...Is the groom here Zhu Bajie? Not exactly. It's actually Wukong changes its form into Zhu Bajie, and pretends to get caught by the daughters of ChangEr to have a chance to slip in this place as he has something important to get from here (no more spoiler for you). Of course, if you watch this clip again, you would see that the Elder Daughter and 2nd Daughter actually knew it's Wukong while the others not, but they still let him continues as they know how suffering is their mother all these years, and hope to give their mother a chance to marry the guy she loves along these years... Well.. sad to say that in this game story dimension, it's very likely that both Zhu Bajie and especially ChangEr, would still undergo the suffering again by not being together. There are actually a lot messages and easter eggs inside this clip, but the English translation here is so bad, it's like totally a different script with the original Mandarin one. If you know how many ancient stories reference as well as real life structures the developer is using in this clip, you would be amazed. Also for the song that being played in this video, some of the lyrics are actually written with the ancient chinese books reference that is hinting us this is a story between Zhu Bajie & ChangEr instead of Wukong. And if you look closely in the Spider Monster in the end, you can see there's a Moth at the back of Spider. Why? It's because this is a hint for audience as Moth in Mandarin is the "Er" in "ChangEr". This is why I wanted to write this comment so bad so all people from anywhere in the world could understand that it's so much more than just a good graphic game. Rewatch this video after reading this, you would have a whole new experience! Peace!

The TV series "Journey to the West" has a happy ending. However, the original story of "Journey to the West" is very dark in terms of story content and characters. In the original story, the spider monster is just a monster, but here, it is endowed with more human interest and even has emotional connection with Wukong. As a Chinese player, I am looking forward to the game to tell a wonderful story.

Sun Wukong “Red-Buttocked Horse Monkey” (Chikao mahou, 赤尻馬猴) “Tongbi/bei Gibbon” (Tongbi/bei yuanhou, 通臂/背猿猴) "Six-Eared Macaque" (Liu’er mihou, 六耳獼猴) - the Macaque King (Mihou wang, 獼猴王) the 4th primate has the same ability to use transformation like Wukong, so he disguises himself as a perfect copy of wukong until wukong finds him in chapter 56-58 and they fight their way into and out of heaven, the reason we dont know/cant tell whos stronger is beacuse since they couldnt be told appart due to Macaques transformation they are sent to buddha where he instantly knows whos the impostor and when he tries to flee buddha traps him and wukong kills him, meaning that to kill him he needed buddha to hold the impostor down

There are so many details in every frame, if you can read Chinese, you'll find stories of weapons, NPCs, architectures and even the abilities. I'm really really looking forward to this game. I am definitely sure the dark version story of the new monkey king won't let you down!!!!

So from what i know, one of the Sun Wukong abilities are he can transform himself into something else, thats why in 07:36 he change himself into something else.. can't wait to play this game for real!! 🔥🔥
He transformed to one of the creatures he beaten before, you can find the creature in the monster list, just before the newly beaten one. So I guess it is not about up the level, it might be about the ability he gained and use in the battle. Check out the yellow stamina bar in the left when he transformed to the stone, it is dropping very quickly, might be treated as a timer as well. By the way, the last boss he fought is named Red Beard. In the cut-scene, it is showing the female creature the first time. And this is a famous chapter in Journey to the West. It calls out a memory that sometimes, you don't know the one you are facing is a human being or a creature

For example, the 1st skill is to 通幽（Tong You），which means Wukong can make contact with ghosts and go through hell. 2nd skill is to 驱神，it means Wukong can drive out gods. The 43rd skill is 假形，this is the one we’ve been talking about, Wukong literally can transform into everything he wants.😃

The world building is so amazing. To have this classical Chinese story realised into a video game with such beautiful graphics, I honestly never thought I'd see it in my lifetime. Also, it's not even straight up just the original Journey to the West story. It looks to be an interesting take on it. Super hyped for it and I hope it lives up to expectations and some more.
In the mid of dragon fight, WuKong turns into a top-heavy non-conductive stone man, huge defense and strange gait, that walk is obviously slower to maintain the balance, also easily fall down. Meanwhile the background music tries to be funny as well.
7:35 I really like this part of the fight. It shows that Sun Wukong is a trickster and makes fun of people, and the music reflects the ridiculous scene.

I'm loving this so far cause it looks like it's Wukong before his war in heaven against the gods and he was strong as hell in this period. Now I'm wondering is this game gonna go all the way through to the Journey To The West arc and Wukong gets his headpiece that limits his powers and keeps him from from "having too much fun". But also, Wukong seems stern and serious so this might take place after his monk friend died and he slowly became this what what we're seeing right now in the game. I really hope we get ALL of this in one game! If we do, I'm gonna flip🤩🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯💯🙏🙏🙏🙏
actually, this game's story is more likely to be based on the follow up fiction of the famous 'journey to the west' with 4 different main characters, one of them is the monkey we're seeing and will be playing. But he is not the WuKong that most people know, they're two complete different characters.

Some spider species have females eat the males after reproduction. Since mama spider does not want to kill her lover, she tells him to run for it before spidey instincts take over. Also IIRC(my Journey to the West knowledge is rusty), the first person view you are watching from is probably Tang Sanzang, the monk. He's probably deliberately not rendered for this trailer for spoiler reasons?
Hands down this looks to be one of the best games to come!!! The gameplay looks outstanding, the graphics are beautiful!!! The day this comes out. I'm taking at least two days off. At least. I will be streaming this one for sure!!! Man I can't wait!!!

(repost from a comment I wrote on the IGN trailer) The bestiare (I assume it's a bestiare anyway, considering a new entry for an enemy was unlocked right after Sun Wukong killed it) actually has stories related to each creature instead of an entry. The first one, for example is the story related to mountain bandits. There was once a boy whose father was an alcoholic, and was in jail after committing crimes whilst drunk. His household's situation was getting worse, but he still took good care of his mother. The rest of the village knew, and called him a saint (this is not the direct translation, it's supposed to be but a compliment for "a good person"). On one terrible year (there is no direct translation for "荒年" it basically means a year where something like a flood or drought or something terrible of that sort happens), he and his mother escaped to the mountains, but unfortunately they ran into some mountain bandits. The bandits knew only of greed and murder, and the boy killed his own mother because he knew that if she was captured, she'd be tortured. He joined the bandits. The village found out about the situation and no longer called him a saint, but a villain. One day, someone found that every single bandit was killed, without a single one to spare. The people of the village argued about what happened some thought it was a powerful hero who passed by, others thought it was a monster, and there were other ideas as well. Eventually the issue was put in the back of the villagers heads, and they didn't really think about it until one day a villager came back covered in blood. He said that he saw a massive thing, not quite a man, not quite a monster, wielding a huge knife, while asking for money on the road. The villager did not deny that it looked something like the boy who joined the bandits years earlier. Despite asking for money, it also spoke of helping the innocent and doing the right thing. I apologize if anything is slightly inaccurate, Chinese isn't my first language and I needed help from more fluent speakers to translate this story. Some sentences seem slightly out of place and a bit sudden in English, but this is roughly the order that the story told it in.

This game looks amazing!!!! I know it's gonna get downgraded for release for consoles but hopefully not to much because its really one of the best looking games I've ever seen.
As some video authors speculate, the story is about Pigsy (one of the chief characters in "Pilgrimage To the West") and his lover, who was probably a goddess in the moon who is called Chang'e. Tons of infomation are hidden in the 6 mins plot! The lyrics, actresses' lines and the items in the scene contain so many details. I assume the translation work will be tough because some details can only be interpretated from Chinese, even as Chinese we can't figure all out. Can't wait to see it!

Elden Ring so far has the best and most sensical story in any of the souls games. I am glad despite hiring Martin they still retained their old style of story telling. The game doesn't throw anything at you you have to add two and two yourself. Of course if you are too lazy to do it then the story won't unfold for you. Better watch some Lore videos to understand what is going on.

So what I'm getting from this video is every time you defeat a boss you maybe get their transformation in a new staff with their abilities so that's going to be awesome so as we seen him turn into that thing I'm guessing that was a monster that he defeated before and gained his transformation but my question is is this game going to actually do the whole Journey to the West

That rock shield thing in the fight with the red-beared dragon is called Rock Linlin (石嶙嶙). It is a rock goblin the Monkey defeated earlier in the game. You can see its drawing in the demon atlas from the menu demo. He's clumsy but immune to physical attacks. And his designated music is all goofey and fun.
I think its gonna be like *God Of War* where its almost like an open world game, where you can go certain places in the area and do mini missions before going in for the main quest. And many skill & armor upgrades. 🐒
5:23 may be homage to the story where wukong enters the waterfall because all of the other monkeys were to scared to do so, and thats where he discovered a mentor and other stuff... this is gonna be fun..
As a kid watching the Original "Journey To The West" which has fascinated me in alot of ways, and i hope this game portrays the same feelings that i felt when watching the show

*SPOILER Ahead + BACKGROUND Story:
The developer has told that they are gonna change the original story to create another version of Journey to the West (that happens after the ending of novel). This particular clip is telling us the story between 2 important characters in the novel: Zhu Bajie (Male) who is one of the 3 companions like Wukong for their monk teacher to protect him along the journey to west, while the 2nd important character here is ChangEr, which is the old lady presented in this video.
*Original Background Story:
In the original story, Zhu Bajie was originally a god in heaven but broke the rules by falling in love with a fairy goddess, ChangEr. Not only falling in love with her, he even accidentally caused a chaos in heaven while persuing his love and to get attention from ChangEr. Sadly, he only found that ChangEr has no interest with him and because of the mess he created, he is being punished to the Earth to experience unlimited torturing life reincarnations that caused by his love for others, which is one of the most suffering causes - Betrayed by Love. In one of his reincarnations, he became a half Pig half Man who falls in love with a girl. Of course you would see the ending of this one-way-love isn't gonna end well but he is eventually saved by his Monk Teacher and promise to help the Monk Teacher by joining him to the journey to the west, while helping and learning the way of life in the journey.
*Game Story:
The developer rethinks how the story may goes with the original story. What if.... ChangEr is actually in love with him as well, while breaking the rules of heaven together back then? Of course they made some adjustments in the original legend as well.
In this story, ChangEr is also punished by the Gods of Heaven, and she is turned into a Spider Demon. Why a spider demon you may ask...For those who are well versed with Ancient Chinese Legends, there was a group of fairies which we normally call The Seven Fairies who are the Goddess of Weaving (An interesting fact why the Spider Demon sisters are normally came with 7 person even in the original story). There was a saying that one of the Seven Fairies is actually ChangEr. Note that this is a punishment for the love that is prohibited in Heaven among gods, the punishment by heaven usually comes in an irony way. Previously, ChangEr was one of the Goddess of Weaving in the form of Silk Moth (A bug that produces silk by sacrifing itself) with the spirit of scarificing herself to help people, but now, she has became a Spider Demon who weaves only to kill, not for love. How sad and irony is this punishment... Not only that, remember that Female Spider will eat the Male after the intercourse...Along the reincarnation of Zhu Bajie, both of them met in this life, but became enemies, since one is protecting his Monk Teacher while the other side is trying to eat the Monk Teacher. Because of their positions in this life, it looks like the god is still punishing both of them in this life in the crueliest way possible...
But in this particular clip, the developer is showing the idea that when the Journey to West ends, ChangEr is still waiting for him despite after so many years...Is the groom here Zhu Bajie? Not exactly. It's actually Wukong changes its form into Zhu Bajie, and pretends to get caught by the daughters of ChangEr to have a chance to slip in this place as he has something important to get from here (no more spoiler for you). Of course, if you watch this clip again, you would see that the Elder Daughter and 2nd Daughter actually knew it's Wukong while the others not, but they still let him continues as they know how suffering is their mother all these years, and hope to give their mother a chance to marry the guy she loves along these years... Well.. sad to say that in this game story dimension, it's very likely that both Zhu Bajie and especially ChangEr, would still undergo the suffering again by not being together.
There are actually a lot messages and easter eggs inside this clip, but the English translation here is so bad, it's like totally a different script with the original Mandarin one. If you know how many ancient stories reference as well as real life structures the developer is using in this clip, you would be amazed. Also for the song that being played in this video, some of the lyrics are actually written with the ancient chinese books reference that is hinting us this is a story between Zhu Bajie & ChangEr instead of Wukong. And if you look closely in the Spider Monster in the end, you can see there's a Moth at the back of Spider. Why? It's because this is a hint for audience as Moth in Mandarin is the "Er" in "ChangEr". This is why I wanted to write this comment so bad so all people from anywhere in the world could understand that it's so much more than just a good graphic game. Rewatch this video after reading this, you would have a whole new experience! Peace!

Wukong has 72 transformations in Journey to the West
He transformed to one of the creatures he beaten before, you can find the creature in the monster list, just before the newly beaten one. So I guess it is not about up the level, it might be about the ability he gained and use in the battle. Check out the yellow stamina bar in the left when he transformed to the stone, it is dropping very quickly, might be treated as a timer as well. By the way, the last boss he fought is named Red Beard.
In the cut-scene, it is showing the female creature the first time. And this is a famous chapter in Journey to the West. It calls out a memory that sometimes, you don't know the one you are facing is a human being or a creature

The world building is so amazing. To have this classical Chinese story realised into a video game with such beautiful graphics, I honestly never thought I'd see it in my lifetime. Also, it's not even straight up just the original Journey to the West story. It looks to be an interesting take on it. Super hyped for it and I hope it lives up to expectations and some more.

In the mid of dragon fight, WuKong turns into a top-heavy non-conductive stone man, huge defense and strange gait, that walk is obviously slower to maintain the balance, also easily fall down. Meanwhile the background music tries to be funny as well.
7:35 I really like this part of the fight. It shows that Sun Wukong is a trickster and makes fun of people, and the music reflects the ridiculous scene.
Can it be executed in the real game though, they will have to make 2 sets (or even more, considering other transformations) of music for every fight

I'm loving this so far cause it looks like it's Wukong before his war in heaven against the gods and he was strong as hell in this period. Now I'm wondering is this game gonna go all the way through to the Journey To The West arc and Wukong gets his headpiece that limits his powers and keeps him from from "having too much fun". But also, Wukong seems stern and serious so this might take place after his monk friend died and he slowly became this what what we're seeing right now in the game. I really hope we get ALL of this in one game! If we do, I'm gonna flip🤩🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯💯🙏🙏🙏🙏
actually, this game's story is more likely to be based on the follow up fiction of the famous 'journey to the west' with 4 different main characters, one of them is the monkey we're seeing and will be playing. But he is not the WuKong that most people know, they're two complete different characters.
This game story happens after Wukong's famous Journey to the West, and the Journey happens after Wukong's war in heaven against the gods.

The bestiare (I assume it's a bestiare anyway, considering a new entry for an enemy was unlocked right after Sun Wukong killed it) actually has stories related to each creature instead of an entry. The first one, for example is the story related to mountain bandits.
There was once a boy whose father was an alcoholic, and was in jail after committing crimes whilst drunk. His household's situation was getting worse, but he still took good care of his mother. The rest of the village knew, and called him a saint (this is not the direct translation, it's supposed to be but a compliment for "a good person").
On one terrible year (there is no direct translation for "荒年" it basically means a year where something like a flood or drought or something terrible of that sort happens), he and his mother escaped to the mountains, but unfortunately they ran into some mountain bandits. The bandits knew only of greed and murder, and the boy killed his own mother because he knew that if she was captured, she'd be tortured. He joined the bandits. The village found out about the situation and no longer called him a saint, but a villain.
One day, someone found that every single bandit was killed, without a single one to spare. The people of the village argued about what happened some thought it was a powerful hero who passed by, others thought it was a monster, and there were other ideas as well. Eventually the issue was put in the back of the villagers heads, and they didn't really think about it until one day a villager came back covered in blood. He said that he saw a massive thing, not quite a man, not quite a monster, wielding a huge knife, while asking for money on the road. The villager did not deny that it looked something like the boy who joined the bandits years earlier. Despite asking for money, it also spoke of helping the innocent and doing the right thing.
I apologize if anything is slightly inaccurate, Chinese isn't my first language and I needed help from more fluent speakers to translate this story. Some sentences seem slightly out of place and a bit sudden in English, but this is roughly the order that the story told it in.

This game looks amazing!!!! I know it's gonna get downgraded for release for consoles but hopefully not to much because its really one of the best looking games I've ever seen.
As some video authors speculate, the story is about Pigsy (one of the chief characters in "Pilgrimage To the West") and his lover, who was probably a goddess in the moon who is called Chang'e. Tons of infomation are hidden in the 6 mins plot! The lyrics, actresses' lines and the items in the scene contain so many details. I assume the translation work will be tough because some details can only be interpretated from Chinese, even as Chinese we can't figure all out. Can't wait to see it!

Elden Ring so far has the best and most sensical story in any of the souls games. I am glad despite hiring Martin they still retained their old style of story telling. The game doesn't throw anything at you you have to add two and two yourself. Of course if you are too lazy to do it then the story won't unfold for you. Better watch some Lore videos to understand what is going on.

That rock shield thing in the fight with the red-beared dragon is called Rock Linlin (石嶙嶙). It is a rock goblin the Monkey defeated earlier in the game. You can see its drawing in the demon atlas from the menu demo. He's clumsy but immune to physical attacks. And his designated music is all goofey and fun.

It seems trying to be true to WuKong’s original story which the spider monster (mom) was once falling in love with WuKong and ended up bad in the end. And she has been trying to trap him ever since then.
As I remember, WuKong is also a powerful shape shifter who can absorb enemies’ power and transform himself into it.
