    Gotta respect Bernardo for making a video like this

    We were just talking about this after class. You can learn something from anyone, no matter the color of their belt.

    Love it. Remember the buggy choke was invented by a white belt at Ralph Gracie in Berkeley named Austin not that long ago. The sport evolves so fast

      Yes, Austin Hardt, to be specific. I train at RG-B and Austin was using this technique in competitions as early as 2016. And yes, he was a white-belt when he developed it. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves for inventing this ingenious submission.

    This sounds very weird and I'm legitimately in shock. I do this thing where I go for runs and drills movements in my head. I kept thinking this exact way you're showing to choke someone and was gonna try next time in class. To my shock I get home turn on my computer, open youtube and this video was one of my top suggestions and not only that, it only had just been posted. I've never experienced anything like this in my life...fucking nuts.. I was drilling this in my head whilst on my run

    I did this with one of my training partners a few months ago and it caught him off guard too. He always does the over under pass, I was attempting to set up a version of the canto choke and this exact position presented itself. I've since used it successfully on several other training partners with great success. It really does work well. Just like he said in the video, I started doing the canto choke from different positions after watching Bernardos video with Flavio Canto, amazing how things work out.

    I like the variation. The defense of the first choke would be to push the leg over your head, which would lead nicely into the second modified choke

  • @jdsmith2888
    @jdsmith2888 17 дней назад +1

    Bernardo, I have the counter for this choke its the same thing I do when someone tries to push my head across the center line. Control the hand that your opp. is using with your under hand. Say Hi to Mike for me and looking forward to seeing you again.

    Yeah i thought "isn't that just a canto choke?"
    Well, with the other leg, and the other arm. So i guess it's new!
    That's amazing

  • @congac33
    @congac33 14 дней назад

    I've actually done this before. It's very similar to the hand in triangle, where you feed that same hand into deep in the collar to take up space and close down on the carotid. You flex that had away from the neck, which presses the wrist INTO the neck, like the Helio choke.
    Both work, just not super high percentage.

  • @BrianOSheaPlus

    Should call it the Fletcher choke, after its inventor!

  • @huxco
    @huxco 16 дней назад

    Good to know. Over under is my favorite pass technique.
    But I wonder if that is much of a risk because as soon as I got the "under", I drop my shoulder on the opponent belly.

    • @GMunoz-oj5zb
      @GMunoz-oj5zb 16 дней назад +1

      I was thinking the same thing. I was seeing as good counter when your triangle fails and they start stacking you with that leg over their shoulder, of course you will need to be faster to get their lapel under your leg

  • @Minx717
    @Minx717 15 дней назад

    I have learned a move from a white belt I was giving privates to! He messed up the grips for a John Wayne sweep and swept me straight into a paper cutter variation. It’s is named after him. I use it all the time but he doesn’t remember how he did it 😂.

  • @BrianOSheaPlus
    @BrianOSheaPlus 16 дней назад

    Bernardo, could you escape this choke by turning to the same side as the over leg to relieve the pressure from the lapel on the under leg side?

    • @GMunoz-oj5zb
      @GMunoz-oj5zb 16 дней назад

      To be honest the way I see it is to push forward the leg that is over the shoulder

    Love it. OK everyone, let's crowd source a name for this...here are some ideas:
    BB (blue belt) choke
    BB Over Under
    Honor Choke
    Crooked Canto
    Twisted Canto
