- This is a demonstration for a client running a 12"x9" hammer mill dry with a 1 mm bar gap spacing. At the end of the video we show the results of the test using a screen sieve analysis. These mills are great for the small scale miner or prospector as they can be powered with gasoline or diesel motors for use in remote areas. They can process around 1000-1500 lbs/hr at 1 mm bar gap spacing and produce product which more than 50% passes a 50 mesh screen. This product is perfect for running directly onto a shaker table or sluice box for recovery. Under normal conditions we would use water and suggest it to all of our customers. This particular customer asked for a dry demonstration. If you stand up wind its not too bad, but would not recommend running like this for a long time. I have posted a link in the "about" section to a video of one of our hammer mills running wet and you will see there is no dust. It makes a great slurry to run directly on to a shaker table or down a sluice box!

I have good suggestion for you
If you wanna extended life of diesel or gasoline engine in such dusty working environment add two stage air cleaner that you can find on farm tractor first is dry separator with glass mushroom syclon and second is wet (oil) cleaner,
Also its better you connect 3-4 inch flexible hose (like vacuum cleaner hose) and connect two stage air filter 2-3 yards away from engine, and you need to clean it each week,or 100 hours,

How long do your hammers last. What material are they made from?
Would it be possible to construct one machine like this for breaking down not only pistons but engine heads, intake manifolds, parts of the block.. I need a way of recycling and breaking down aluminium to a 8-6 mesh powder before seperation and melting. =)

Is it spinning counter clockwise? Most I've seen spin clockwise and it creates a vacuum so no dust in your face it pumps it out the bottom
More important is the pulverized rock is being slug into the screen rather than armor hence the screen will prematurely wear to failure. Only a combo wet/dry hammer mill is a must. Dont forget armor wear plates unless you want the body to fail early.
Sir is it possible to crush clam shell with this mill.if not could you suggest for any mill

What is the avg cost on this machine. Same setup? Is the -50 mesh equivalent to fine flour?

The 50 mesh minus was the smallest screen I had at the time of the test. There is a lot of material that is smaller than 50 mesh, too. Fine cooking flour is between 100 and 200 mesh for comparison.

Very impressive, although some other impressions are also hard to miss: That this is not an environmentally friendly method with regards to it producing dust as a final product AND as loads of fine particles in the air, and that it is not quite wise of the dudes operating the mill to not wear breathing protection..
