@@jonron3805 when we think about assault.. What generally comes to mind is brutally raped and killed. But sexual assault by definition an act in which one intentionally sexually touches another person without that person's consent, physically forces a person to engage in a sexual act against their will.' If we take the more un noticed instances like a male family member of a girl assaulting her and the girl reaches out to someone, i kid you not 9 out of 10 times people fail to believe the girl or think that she must have done something provocative. This is just one of the many instances.. If a women in assaulted in the workplace or catcalled in the streets and talks about it, she often gets blamed for dressing or behaving inappropriately. I hope i gave you a practical case where the assaulter was NOT shunned.
@@jonron3805 and yes people do condemn the assaulter and openly sympathize with the victim.. But mostly when its too late. Like the victim had been brutally murdered. Often these same people will go and defend assaulters they think are nice men who would never abuse anyone, and even worse blame the women who have been abused. This is just a result of rape culture which is unfortunately too rooted in our society that we fail to even notice its harms. So my point is you cannot go around pretending that victim blaming does not exist. It does and its problematic on so many levels.
Exactly like why are we adding that innit it's two different things, visti blaming is so common in our society and people take it as a part of culture when it's not.
EXACTLY!!! like if a woman has had boyfriends in the past and if she's a virgin or not, how does that matter? if she's been sexually assaulted how does her 'character' or the number of men she has slept with matter? i am just so tired of this mindset that if a girl is promiscuous, she's inviting rape.
The ONLY person at fault when someone is sexually harassed is the assaulter. The victim is NEVER at fault. Remember that. Edit: I agree that there are other factors which may lead to a sexual harassment case (protecting assaulters, letting convicted assaulters out of prison, etc.) However, the ultimate reason someone gets harassed is because the assaulter chose to do it. It's their fault, periodt.
Not really There are many at fault Constitution of the country as this keeps repeating (one of the assaulter was let away in Nirbaya's case as he was a minor) Society in which we live in, as the rapists are guarded and protected (even children are getting raped and the society still blame the victim's family) Finally the assaulter who is a psychopath, who deserves to die no matter whether he/she feels guilty or not
“sexual harassment” is a very broad term. If you meant “rape” then your statement is correct. But if someone reports “flirting, staring or hugging” as “sexual harassment” then your statement MAY NOT ALWAYS be correct.

But if you are naked on the street then it’s is definitely going to draw attention and there will be sexualisation obviously. It’s just human nature. Men and women are attracted to each other. And it’s not like men can look at a naked woman and then decide whether to get attracted or not. It’s happens naturally at a subconscious level. I used to think not looking the eyes of a boy was something I came up with myself during school days to protect myself. Hearing that said here, I don't know what to say. I wonder if I was subconsciously made to think that was how I should behave.
I am atleast glad I got out of that mindset and I know the familial life society wants me to have is not worth going through all of the biases they are going to suffocate me with again. I'll escape this. 😐
It's appalling that even in the executive and judiciary there is always a policing of the survivor's "character" making it seem as though sexual violence to some people are more justified than others. Society as a whole needs re education on such matters.
Recent incidents of victim blaming only show us how far we are from change
Everyone school and parents must now teach boys how to behave.
You know, there was person in my section in school, who thinks people shoud use rape as a torture method, I mean whats wrong with him? Rape is a very bad thing, but torture method, rape, what???? This mentality of people thinking rape is to be used as punishment is like leading factor to rape. I mean whattt?? This is so wrong!
So many people are like this. There are many other sick mentalities. Like once I was talking to a stranger online on domestic violence. In the flow of words, when I asked him what is his thought on rape, he said, when men can't get sex legally, they try to have it by force. Then I asked what is this legal sex, he said a wife. If he marries a woman, it is perfectly fine to use her body according to his needs.
I agree man. The answer is to sexual assault isn't more sexual assault.
I remember I was around 10 or 11 and two of my neighbors aged between 14-16 used to harass me by saying "mujhe kiss karona or mujhe hug karona" and stuff like that. I was so dumb back then that I used to take it as a joke but now that I look back at it I feel really disgusted
Disgusting. How could a person do that and feel No guilt or humanity whatsoever?
The victim is never at fault. It's only and only the assaulter's fault.
I'm feeling guilty as a men by reading comments even though i haven't Ever did anything wrong with girls
because of few whole community is being blamed And innocent are suffering 😢
It's always easier to fix the blame than to fix the problem.... and nobody seems interested in fixing this particular problem , anyway . Perpetrators have been encouraged by this attitude and only become bolder .
SOCEITY: Take responsibility for you sexual assault.

I'm so grateful to this channel for just existing.
I feel that sexual crime against women is so rampant that instead of better enforcement of laws, the easy route always ends up being blaming the girl. Every argument, justification, logic dies in the face of, " par izzat toh tumhari gyi na, uska toh kuch nahi hua". It's so frustrating!.
I think without consent no one does anything.
@@mrtriyja7800 criminals take consent of their victims, yeah sure
blaming the victim is just like if someone is robbed it's his/her fault that they are rich.
Here I want to register an incident that happened in our state,a 17- yr old girl was harassed by her teacher. At first, the teacher used to flirt with her through chatting, and then taught lessons private and later he harassed her. When she complained it to the principal, she gave irresponsible and worst answer like,"You are equally guilty for replying to his flirts and going out with him(even though for learning).,Just leave this issue, also will u question things that happen to u in public like buses and trains.....That girl was really very depressed for months and committed suicide later...This was filed as a case and spoken all over the state but later people have forgotten and there was no clear judgement to the injustice happened to the girl as they framed the guilt on that girl itself.I really shame on our society who just blame the victims and leave the perpetrators
The fact that this channel has not monetised themselves came as a shock to me. The respect grew unlimited then.
Yes so true all these things are so commonly seen and the worst part is that feeling of helplessness that comes with it ..
THIS IS BECAUSE THE EGO OF SOME PEOPLE IS SOO FRAGILE THAT EVEN WOMAN TRYING TO SEEK JUSTICE IN THE SOCIETY AND THE COURT FEELS THREATENING TO THEM
Women do not need protection when you all men try to ask for our consent & understand our emotions. A true Women always need love and respect.
We will learn to defend ourselves, they must learn to respect everyone
First women should learn to respect men , love his soul not his money, he is a human being not a Bank ,

Why do we victim blame?
The answer is simple: It's a defense mechanism, because we don't like to think that bad things can happen to us.
Well said it’s all in the mentality
Thanks for taking such an initiative and speaking out on these topics! Unfortunately, the society we are in still continues questioning a woman's morality by playing this blame game. But when people like you try taking steps to reiterate some basic sense and sensitivity to the society, I believe we can dream of a world where a woman can confidently walk out, any time of the day!
When I was sexually harassed, people told me I should have just enjoyed it because she was a woman.
@@Nimish204 this society is so messed ypu know it makes where a man is stereotyped has s hyper sexual creature where he should enjoy sex even when it's against his consent.
1.) if man gets raped by woman he supposed to enjoy.
2.) if woman gets raped by a Man then she attracted him he was unable to control.
So in both cases society only blames the victim not the preparater not one who has invaded the personal space of someone.

@@RojaJaneman rape law
@@RojaJaneman
1.) rape law
2.) sexual harassment
3.) voyeurism
4.) stalking
5.) domestic violence
In India legally all these crimes can only be committed by men and victims are always women. This needs to be gender neutral so that everyone can get justice and every criminal is punished irrespective of its gender.
☺️ couldn't agree more. 💞
The last line literally gave me goosebumps 🥺❤️
Just like to add that before any opinions are formulated regarding any crime that the narrative in congruence with the evidence is established first.
Too many people pick their sides based on conjecture or even opinions before the actual story comes out.
Ofcourse, beyond that - blaming a victim over the degeneracy of a sex offender is something you'd only expect to see holding ground in this country.
The scary part is this getting normalised in the society..
Not to take away from the seriousness o the topic, but the ‘Khuli Twacha 4.56%’ and ‘Breathing > 7dB’ were spot on.
Rape isn't always about sex.. It's about power.. So it doesn't even matter what we wear.. It's just an excuse to justify their shitty mindset and actions.
It's never the victim's fault
Hindi version eagerly awaited
Our motive should be changing the society but until it's done, at least our legal system should use brains to give rulings but apparently 'Rational Decisions' is too much to ask from Indian Legal System.

Exactly....this same mindset also appears in many other incedents at small level
when someone steals man's wallet, pulls jewellery of a woman, in a fight if boy is beaten then family members says it's your fault you shouldn't have to be there......
It's sad that we live in a society where the victims of sexual assault are always considered to be at fault but the only person at fault should be the assaulter
Women in saree, salwar kameez and burqa get raped. Children get kidnapped from places filled with people. People who lock their houses also become victims of theft. All of the above does not imply you would not take precautions. Start being logical. Instead of actively protecting your children by not sending them out alone, why don't you teach kidnapper not to kidnap? Because in that case you are logical. However, when it comes to women, all the logic evaporates. Now don't say that women are not children and they have agency. This is not a question of agency. It is a question of safety and precautions.
Thanks for taking my suggestion! (probably): why women's character is questioned first?
Please make this in hindi🥺
I need to send it to many people
The criminal must commit to the crime for the crime to occur. It just can't be victims's fault.
I think that most of the people who are commenting here are not like that in real life. If we want change in our society then we should first change ourselves.
Change society's mind
I was abused when I was a child, now who is to be blamed..?
You should study the teachings of Lord Krishna.
When he was born, death was waiting for him. However, he did not walk down the path of evil.
Often times, people bring up their traumatic childhoods as a way to justify themselves doing evil actions as adults.
Your abusive relatives are probably dead, it's time for you to move on and build a future for yourself.

I want to share my experience. In our school teacher arrainges lectures about sexual harassment only for girls and not for boys! Where they used to tell us how to talk, how to wear cloths etc. At last our teacher asked us for questions, I asked a question to lecturer that why do we blame only girls for rapes and why don't we teach boys how to behave , how to talk with girls, etc.. Then our teacher didn't answer my question and told to sit down. No one listened my question.
From that time I am angry on this rubbish mindset..

Educational institutions should come forward and teach that this propensity of blaming victims of sexual violence is wrong. Only then the person will come out and say it openly if she undergoes one ... If not the perpetrator will continue his actions with many others.
