Great stuff. I’m a dad of a HS frosh pitcher, and the way you broke it down was perfect. Straight forward without any fluff. When my kid was younger, it was hard for me to find trustworthy content to help me help my kid. Too much snake oil out there. Thanks for creating content to help kids become better players.
Best part of these is that Trevor teaches in a format that doesn't make a person confused by listening to it. Easy for kids to understand, but enough of the science behind it for adults to enjoy!
I'm 48 and I still pitch for fun. But I've learned so so much through your channel, Trevor Bauer. Miss you in Cleveland! Though I love you in Cincinnati too.
Some of the best pitching tutorials on the interwebs. Common sense + biomechanics. This is A+ material that's applicable from college coach to back-yard dad. TB just earned it. Great content, thanks.
Gosh... You have absolutely no idea what these mechanics videos Trevor made mean to youth players like me in China. Very few people play baseball in China and the coaches are not that good... Different coaches teach you different things and you don't know whom to listen to. They don't really know how to do arm care, too. I just recovered from my little league elbow and I am trying to fix my mechanics. This video really helps a lot
My son is 7 & moving to 8u. I pitched D2 for a season which officially qualifies me as an expert on seeking out the knowledge and information I was lacking. His hitting coach played MLB & there are pitching coaches but he is 7....have a mound being delivered this week but have been developing a long term plan for when they begin kid pitch....no one cares I get it...but you have offered so much insight as to the exact things I did incorrectly to help provide resources and actionable intel for my son on sequencing and most importantly point 1 on your upper body mechanics tips. I taught him tight-v infielder throwing like Trosky and felt like the half moon, thumbs down “longer” arm is necessary to pitch and was struggling to show him....turns out he is neutral and throws it hard as f and accurate already (well above his age) because he is athletic and strong lower body and uses his entire body...so i now feel confident to leave it alone. Thank you again. Would be glad to donate to a charity or cause (i pay for lessons and this is no different.)
This video was absurdly interesting! Throwing being such a natural/organic thing, that I think it is so easy to forget about what each motion is supposed to accomplish. Absolutely every movement throughout the pitching motion has the sole purpose in delivering as much energy into the ball in as consistent and accurate way as possible. When looking at it that way, it makes so much sense on why your approach seems more "engineering" and less "sports". I love it!
Thanks, TB! Great stuff. I've been working on a high velocity throwing program and find your videos to be clear, concise breakdowns of proper throwing mechanics.
Trevor, love you content , me and the boys 9 and 12 watch and try to apply everything you teach ... they just have a little trouble staying with the videos so we try to simplify things
Thanks for putting out quality content! I liked hearing all of your thoughts. It was difficult to visualize some of the stuff you were explaining, adding some videos of good examples of each of the 4 aspects really would have helped me understand more of what you're saying
What I’m getting from this is that Driveline and TopVelocity share similar views on lower half mechanics. Only difference is that Driveline teaches a purely rotational back leg whereas TopVelocity teaches both extension and rotation of the back leg.
Great video- specifically will help me teach rotation and blocking. When you eventually sign with my beloved White Sox, we’d love it if you came to a practice to Coach my pitchers! Cmon you know Bauer, Giolito, Kuechel, Lynn and Kopech would shred through lineups all year. Sounds like a dynasty in the making.
It would be nice to get some more visuals in your explanation ... I understood most of it but my 10 year old will find it difficult... But thanks for what you are sharing he will find it helpful for sure ... Thanks...
Thanks for the video. For me it would be nice to have even more visuals along with your auditory explanation. A little too much auditory learning here, for my type of learning anyways. Thanks again.
I like it. My son is too soft on his front leg. Any drills to help? I am guessing you don’t like the “Top Velocity 3X” program then. No extension through the back leg.
I love the content in this video but as more of a visual learner having a video of a thrower that follows along with the information would help me a lot.
Thanks again Trevor. Question on blocking. What role does the back leg play on blocking. I see a lot of pitchers with high velocity with tremendous recoil after ball is released as the back leg comes around and swings toward first base? (RHP - For example, Clev) To me it appears that after the front leg firmly plants, holding that rear leg on the ground - into the mound - as long as possible to stop hips as trunk rotates, is equally important to blocking as firm front leg. This is not forcing a rotation of hips around front leg toward first base, but instead looks like natural recoil from decelerating the hips using the right leg (holding your ground, as long as possible until after ball release), then hips almost snap around swinging the right leg toward first. 🤷♂️
VERY good video. Nice job of using "frame of reference " stuff, i.e. car crash example. I would like to see "stick figure " diagrams also, but that's just me. Keep up the great work, and thank you!
Hey Trevor, I appreciate all you’re doing with your RUclips tips, I find them very helpful. My name is Garrett Egli and I play at Sam Houston state, I was the guy in the orange shirt and white leggings on your most recent video about lower half mechanics. You had positive comment to say about the rotational part of my lower half. However, I’m a 6’ 4” 214 pound right hander sitting 86-88. If you have anymore feedback on how I could make that next jump I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
Understand that until the Humerus is fully outwardly rotated that forwards energy and momentum can start to be counted! There are 2 Kinetic chains involved, #1 the lengthening chain where all contractions are counted towards lengthening antagonist muscles ending in the Humerus's full outwards rotation to length and #2 the shortening chain where all contractions and momentum can then be counted towards Velocity. Therefore any momentum before this can not be counted. The only force length relationship to previously stored momentum saving in the 1st Kinetic chain is tension in bone and Facial (Tendon) tissues that is virtually negligible and not worth mentioning! This is a classic mistake all well meaning baseball novice biomechanical practitioners make. Words?
He talks about mechanics like someone who has no idea what he is talking about. I know he understands the movements but the presentation was 😬 For a clear explanation go to topvelocity’lower half’
The best video ever of pitching mechanics

I said this last video too but GOD what i would do to be 13 and have this info from a trusted source at my fingertips. Awesome videos.
Same man.
I wish more players would do this.
Man I have done a 2500 mile trip . Listening to him and Tom house... because I can't find anyone to coach my son . So I learn..
@@vectorjiu-jitsu955 thats awesome, weird coincidence with your youtube name, im taking my first jiu jitsu class tomorrow!
@@willdoolin3 awesome brother ! Took mine in 2004 many many moons ago . If you enjoy this technical type stuff you will love jiu-jitsu

The realest in the game, I love how you pour your heart and soul into the game and you help others while doing so
Thank you! You used my video at the 4:10 mark. I greatly appreciate it! Awesome video. Working on that delayed trunk 🤙🏻
Explained better than any trainer on RUclips!!!
I'm 48 and I still pitch for fun. But I've learned so so much through your channel, Trevor Bauer. Miss you in Cleveland! Though I love you in Cincinnati too.
This is the most helpful pitching video I’ve seen
God bless you Trevor

Really helpful, thanks a lot.

Perfect example of a great block is Verlander. That ground reaction force that man generates with his left leg is crazy.
Outstanding!!! Must watch!
Thanks, TB! Great stuff. I've been working on a high velocity throwing program and find your videos to be clear, concise breakdowns of proper throwing mechanics.
This is the greatest mechanical explanation I’ve ever heard

Great video, Trev!
Who needs pitching coaches and online trainers when you have Trevor Bauer on RUclips !
Awesome! U da man Trev!
Excellent, sent it to my son

This video was amazing. I have been having a hard time explaining this to my son. Hopefully he can catch on after watching this. Thank you Trevor

This is an incredible video
Great vid Trevor! If u get the chance it’d be awesome to get Tim Anderson on Bauer Bytes!
Can you talk about Tommy John and how to prevent. What do you think causes it
throwing causes it
The only way to make sure you never get Tommy John is to never play baseball
Trying to be too far ahead of the block with too long of delaying your arm movement?
Energy, force vectors and impulses, when dynamics class finally comes in handy lol
I like how you just say it!
Wish I had a time machine. Could have used this video when I was a teenager.
Thanks so much for this content Trevor! P.S. sign with the Jays!!!
Love the tips, wish I would have had coaches that taught me this when I was younger
I wish i had your vids while i was pitching in high school
Thank you Trevor! I've bought MVP machine and it's a great book. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. For me it would be nice to have even more visuals along with your auditory explanation. A little too much auditory learning here, for my type of learning anyways. Thanks again.
How would you describe the activation of “the drop” are you pulling the right glute towards the ground? How do you cue the feeling?
It's almost like a single leg squat or you could think about weighing more while moving forward
I like it. My son is too soft on his front leg. Any drills to help?
I am guessing you don’t like the “Top Velocity 3X” program then. No extension through the back leg.
You can throw hard but considering that you are essentially doing a 100% push every pitch you cant maintain velocity over 100+ pitches
I love the content in this video but as more of a visual learner having a video of a thrower that follows along with the information would help me a lot.
Thanks again Trevor. Question on blocking. What role does the back leg play on blocking. Do you have drills or tips on how to get a better front side block?
I got a TopVelocity add before this video 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ryan Petras pretty ironic
VERY good video. Nice job of using "frame of reference " stuff, i.e. car crash example. I would like to see "stick figure " diagrams also, but that's just me. Keep up the great work, and thank you!
Trevor needs to start a pitching lab .
Thank you
Great video
Pure genius
it is so much easier said than done
Would be awesome if there are more visuals to go along with it. But otherwise great stuff!
How do you separate the phases? im not able to stay back with my upper half while my hips open
How is the content free ! An elite major leaguer who EXPLAINS better than 99% of the coaches who get paid to teach
That’s why squatting for 6 months of the off seasons doesn’t boost peoples velocities like they think it would
Hey, there's nothing wrong with my lower half mechani...oh, you mean PITCHING mechanics...heh heh, yea, my bad.😉
From looking at footage of me pitching, I have a weak lead leg block. It gives instead of straightening out. Are there any drills/tips to fix this?
Check out treadathletics video on front leg progressions
Yo bro you win Cy Young this season btw
So then what are some drills to help feel these things?
Awesome
Can you do a video on how to rotate the pelvis
man you are a good fucking dude.. big fan of urse from scotland
Can you give us drills to help
its better if you can have picture to demonstrate and show ,,,it will helps more !
Where have you been my whole life bro????
🔥🔥🔥
This why you my favo
Driving is what causes the hips to open up though!!! Don't you need to push off the mound in order to open up the hips and rotate?
Wish my teen would poor into these videos. I forward them and they collect edust.

my d3 pitching coach says to rotate as late as possible 😭😭😭😭😭
He probably means upper body or torso rotation! Hips open first then up the chain.

I would ask you to do hitting tips but you don't like hitting.
You & D.D.GetBusy~IWannaSeeYouBatFlipLol😍😍😍
Keep going. 4 points not 3 ok, I guess we can handle it. Joking aside, thanks.
This is high level shit
He talks about mechanics like someone who has no idea what he is talking about. I know he understands the movements but the presentation was 😬
