- With the Varanasi District Court allowing prayers in the basement of the Gyanvapi Masjid - the locks have literally come off and this could be the start of something really big. While demands to 'hand over' Gyanvapi have increased - there is something big standing in the way. The Places of Worship Act, 1991... that disallows the conversion / distructioin of any religious place.
What will happen next? Will this act be delolished itself? A lot depends on how this act is read by the Supreme Court of India.....Here's more on the law that will determine the future politics of India.

Yes historical injustices should be mended. In that case, wherever Shaiva Kings destroyed Vishnu mandirs or Buddhist stupas must also be mended. If you want to dig out the truth it must be applicable for all religions remember that. Wherever Hindu upper castes destroyed Adivasi places of worship must also be restored. Hope you understand the bigger consequences. There will be more riots & bloodbaths & many states in India will try to disintegrate.

Sadhguru also said few days ago- 'Both parties should sit together and make an agreement and stop this issue for and ever.'
Now, if people want that a particular political party should not restart another andolan for votes, and this should stop and we need to move forward, then they should understand that the logical solution is to voluntarily hand over the sites to Hindus without engaging further in legal battle..
Kashi Mathura and Ayodhya are not some random temple sites; these are among the holiest of Hindu pilgrimage sites..
If the emotions attached to these are not understood or underestimated, and the Muslim party continues the battle, there is a strong possibility that politics of India will linger around religion for long..
Its the Muslim Community and Congress who didn't want to discuss. If they had given Ram Janmabhoomi earlier. Then no frenzy of mandir masjid would have happen. But sadly it will go on now.

The Tamil Nadu Waqf Board has claimed ownership of the 1500-year-old Manendiyavalli Chandrashekhara Swami temple land. The temple has 369 acres of property in and around Tiruchenthurai village in the Tiruchi District of Tamil Nadu.

This Act was the best feasible way to solve the problem and at time of independence and making of constitution. There were not chintus who was lurying people to vote in name of tenple mosque. A nearby shiv mandir, durga mandir, hanuman mandir is where a person draws religious connection although they respect every god. You visit Shiv mandir more because you are closer to mahadev and subconsciously chant har har Mahadev more than you chant Jai maa Kali or Jai maa Laxmi or Ganpati Bappa morya.
You are more inclined to gurudwara and dargahs without even knowing what exactly are you praying there. I have been to dargah, gurudwara but I don't even know what am I exactly praying there, I don't have any problem with people going there because they believe in it, can I put generalization of my pov to every person present there? Absolutely no. At a temple I visit, be it birthplace of Hanuman g, or a Durga maa mandir I exactly know what I am praying and therefore it makes a huge difference in what exactly I am drawing my faith from where I choose a place of worship, a deity for me.

There is no definition of RELIGIOUS CHARACTER OF PLACE OF WORSHIP. SEC.3 > STARTS WITH , " NO PERSON " So, this section is applicable to any person whoever may be. However , it is a continuing section as clarified in SEC 1. NOW , SEC.4 > Sub-Sec.1" Religious character " Of "place of worship" shall be the same as it was existed on 15/08/1947. [ Here law makers added two things, specification of "Place of worship" by adding "Religious Character" using preposition "of" . Hence two terms are not synonymous. And also added the cut off date in accordance with item 2 of aims and objects of the act. SEC4.> Sub-Sec.2 > All pending cases at the starting of this act with regard to conversion of "Religious Character of any place of worship existing on 15/08/1947." will be abated .This sub clause has a proviso that , if any conversion of Religious character of place of worship took place after 15/08/1947. suit will lie , but in according to Sub-Sec.1. Next,SEC 4> Sub-Sec.3> issues where SEC.4/1-2 are not applicable.

Easiest way to solve this impasse or dispute is to ask the gods to intervene. Several Buddhist Shrines and Monasteries were destroyed by Hindus and temples were constructed in place of them. Badrinath temple is one prime example of that and one of the major reasons for the decline of Buddhism. History should be read, not changed. It is true that any no. of old mosques in India may have had Hindu temple their earlier because most of the people in India were Hindu and the mosques were build after the arabs invaded India.
But demolishing every mosque and building a temple their may cause civil unrest between different factions of the society.
It is also true that it is the right for Hindus to get their places of worship back. But we should also keep in mind that India is a secular and democratic country and these important decisions should be taken with proper discussion with both the factions

Well someone at that time did not have an idea that Hindus will be awakened, they thought Hindus would stay weak.
It is really simple we became a nation from 15 August 1947 and after which the laws of constitution becomes applicable to each and one of us equally. Our history starts from 1857 the first war of independence and everything before that is just every king trying to satisfy their ego and trying a way to make a name for themselves. Listening and being proud of these kings is really good but that doesn't mean we should be go around changing syllabus and history itself for it. Whatever happened was in the past we should learn from it and proceed to build a strong and united nation.

The invaders wanted to restructure the beliefs of the people so they built mosques in places of temples but they were not aware that unlike their beliefs ours is completely decentralised. Akash, just a quick clarification on Places of Worship Act which most people miss to understand is this - Clause 4 > sub-section 3 reads as follows:
“(3) Nothing contained in sub-section (1) and sub-section (2) shall apply to,
(a) any place of worship referred to in the said sub-sections which is an ancient and historical monument or an archaeological site or remains covered by the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958 (24 of 1958) or any other law for the time being in force;”
Therefore, not only Gyanvapi and Mathura temples, but almost all ancient temples of Bhaarat that were destroyed during Mughal rule and converted into mosques are eligible to be reclaimed legally as they are all 500 years old; and this POW Act of 1991 does not stop them from doing so.
I highly encourage you to double check what I am saying. It is mentioned in the act itself.
