A huge shoutout to Isotarge, Trep and TSR Stormed for help around this.
Original Pause glitch video: • Banjo-Kazooie Leaky Pa... - Игры
Brand new fun and broken glitch, AND already a clear and detailed explainer? You spoil us.
Also, re: your comments at 27:50 that "any% with cheats" isn't technically the main pure speedrun category... I'd say it's a lot more of a pure speedrun than any% NG+ is (furnace fun moves), which most people run anyway because it's fun.
Thanks! Ive always loved the category as being purely the fastest way to beat the game from power on
17:45 rip everyone watching this on their phone at night
the Short Abbreviation for this is POG
Haha, thats great!
Taking a wild guess here, but I imagine the glitch stops working in Spiral Mountain is *because* of the Bottles puzzles. Originally on 360, if you watched Banjo collect notes in a Bottles puzzle, it would stay "collected" and wouldn't let you pick it up on that save file. Wouldn't be surprised if whatever patch they applied to fix that is what stops POG too.
I've always wanted to tamper with the orginal version of BK XBLA and you might be right about that. Another theory is that since file select in BK's house gets rid of POG, maybe that has something to do with it.
Can't wait to see some further advancements with this glitch! So awesome to see how far it's come in such a short amount of time. Incredible work :)
Incredibly well made video. Hopefully soon 810 and DoG will be no more
*42 minutes*
Oh man I'm ready. Super exciting times for the community! 🤞
Who would've known that Leaky was the most powerful being in Banjo-Kazooie
Edit: Snorkel is now in close 2nd :)
deepest lore
Its 'THE' TSR Stormed!
You may want to consider adding time stamps in the description to make the video a little more digestable for newer people
Super cool video, thanks for all your work into this being possible you're a real beast
i wonder if losing the last life and hitting game over at the same time would do something to the lives count, but this isn't sonic 1/sonic 2
You sound exactly like David Farrier (journalist). So much so that I can't confirm you are not him. Thanks for the videos.
10/10 video
Nice explanation.
This is so sick. GG guys !
Those were certainly a lot of very weird and impressive effects with this glitch. I don't use glitched very much and even if I did, I only have the Nintendo 64 version of the game.
Man, seeing this glitch reminds me of the time I found a similar glitch in another game (Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure) where you would gain control during the pause menu. In that game, pretty much everyone hated the glitch and it killed interest in the game for a long time, until separate categories without the glitch were made. It's always interesting seeing new big discoveries being found in games and how they affect the game and community.
Really great stuff here!
Woo! Wee!
This feels very similar to the parallel universes in Super Mario 64
Very Nice!!
Absolutely.
Okay but how do you have negative jiggies?
Oh yeah ignore that bit. Just a side effect of an infinite jiggy code for testing
So, this is the Banjo equivalent of DK64's "Tag Barrel Storage"?
Kinda yeah. Probably a bit closer to srm in oot
i broke the endgame cutscenes once (the teaser demos for stop n swop) but didn’t collect the egg out of fear, don’t know how i triggered it either
I wonder if you can emulate a glitch like this on N64 and see if any of the effects could be the same on there. By emulate I mean hacking the game RAM to enter a state like this, as there doesn't seem to be a usable glitch that lets you do it via gameplay.
We did try it and get close but I dont think it had quite the same effects. Pausing seems to work quite differently on n64. We can replicate the save and quit stuff pretty well though
At 8:36 why do you have negative 4 jigges?
Good spot, thats not related to the glitch. I had just used an infinite jiggies code to do testing quickly and the -4 was a side effect
Could duping notes be used for 100%? Like is that requirement collecting 100/100 notes in each world, or do all you need is 900 notes total
100% has an implied source requirement for the notes, so if someone did a run I dont think it would stand as the official WR. Pretty sure itd be faster though
Why are you recording Xbox 360 through composite?
Mainly just a speedrunning habit. Although I do have HDMI capture equipment, I'm playing on a CRT to reduce input lag, hence the composite input.
@@The8bitbeast in that case why not use RGB? or a VGA monitor, the Xbox 360 had an official VGA cable
@@Cade_The_Squirrel Yeah there would be better capture methods possible, but I dont play enough xbox to justify it
@@The8bitbeast man I wish I could be so passey about things like that, OCD is a bitch
