Thanks so much for watching! This one was a real mind bender. Keep an eye out for upcoming reactions: The Color Purple, Lethal Weapon, and 12 Monkeys. As well as the Battlestar Galactica Miniseries. All of which is available now on Patreon.
This is one of my all time favourite movies, great to see a reaction to it… so looking forward to 12 Monkeys! Oh and I should also recommend La science des rêves (The Science of Sleep) by the same director as this one. I wouldn’t erase painful memories, but I would want to erase my memories of certain favourite books/movies/games of mine to enjoy them for the first time again.
In 2001 my husband died, in 2003 my only child died. In 2004 I decided to go back to university and took a film studies class. We watched this film and at the time I thought hell yeah, please erase my memory. By the end of the film I knew I would never want to give up the good memories to erase the ones that hurt. This movie is in my top 5 favorites for sure. So glad you were able to experience it. Oh and they filmed 2 scenes with Naomi that were edited out.
I'm so you experienced so much loss so close together, but I love that this film helped shape your perspective on holding on to those good memories. Thank you so much for sharing.
My heart feels for you, Tracy. You experienced the top two hardest losses in a short time. I know each death also brings all the agony of the others to the fore. You’re probably tired of people calling you strong, but you really are. In 2019 my only child died, my daughter Laura. My mother died one month before Laura. In total, I lost 6 female family member in 2-1/2 years. I crawled in to bed and am just this year (2023) emerging. Much love, esp to all the moms who children live in heaven. 💕🐝💕
"we don't learn or grow if we just erase our regrets or mistakes, it might ease the pain tho" is the perfect summary for this movie. I love it so much and it really makes a person think, would you if you could? should you? really enjoyed your reaction, have an eternally sunshine day!
No, I personally would NOT erase ANY of my memories, mainly for the same reasons he outlined at the end of his video. In fact, when I saw this movie, up until when he actually started getting the procedure done, I was saying to myself "Don't do it, don't do it..." To ME, losing any memories that you could potentially learn from and ESPECIALLY losing any good aspects... that concept is just devastating to me. During the movie I started to imagine how I would feel if there may have been past life events that had been forcibly and completely removed from my memory, and that thought alone was enough to break me. Watching Joel try to rescue some memories after he'd changed his mind but it was too late was SO painfully sad to watch! 😢
Love this film. The story is told very much like a brain malfunction - scattered, distorted, falling apart. But Joel and Clem are so much like a real couple. Exactly the type of opposites who’d fall for eachother.
I enjoy the connection between this movie and Arrival - knowing a relationship will end with pain doesn't mean we should give up on all the good things that happen before the end. All these collected experiences are what make us the people we are, and if we skipped over something that will be painful we also skip over that part of ourselves that may have learned something so profound that it shaped the core of ourself into a better person who is inspired to do fantastic things... you never know.
THANK YOU. Both of these are among my favorite movies and I didn't really think about the connection until i was watching this reaction. Great insight.
One of the best representations on film of what memory feels like. Easily in my top 5 of all time. Timeless little Kaufman masterpiece. *edit* the score is by the legend Jon Brion. It’s a gorgeous score.
god I love this movie. But it *always* makes me cry rewatching it. The most poignant film I've ever seen about the bittersweet end of a relationship, and the painful quandary one feels torn between wanting to forget everything and make the pain go away, and wanting to hold on to all of those beautiful precious good moments you had shared with someone you loved.
Ever since I first saw "Inside Out" (as a 30-year-old adult), and noticed firsthand how actual feel-good brain endorphins can sometimes come along with tears, that movie turned me into a tearjerker seeker. But that being said, there have only been a total of 7 movies in my LIFE (5 of which I'd seen after age 30)... that I can remember ever triggered me to cry, and THIS one TIED WITH "The Land Before Time" in getting THE strongest response out of me. To ME, losing any memories that you could potentially learn from and ESPECIALLY losing any good aspects... that concept is just devastating to me. During the movie I started to imagine how I would feel if there may have been past life events that had been forcibly and completely removed from my memory, and that thought alone was enough to break me. Watching Joel try to rescue some memories after he'd changed his mind but it was too late was SO painfully sad to watch! 😢 I've noticed it's been literally impossible for me to cry to a RE-watch of ANYthing... but this one definitely came close. After the wheels started turning in my head after I finished my own FIRST full watch of this movie, I totally broke down. Then when I started watching reactions of it, I caught myself starting to slightly tear up just from re-watching the shorter clips of the REACTIONS (which was previously unheard of for me). But... a full second re-watch did NOT have the same effect as the first. I'm still looking for a repeater-tearjerker, lol.
Oh also, I've always loved this movie but never thought I wanna erase a person until my last relationship blew up. It was my longest relationship I've had and it ended with a lot of hurt feelings all around, cheating, lies, betrayal. After that I rewatched this movie and thought "Yeah I'd erase that one" but now 2+ years later I don't think I would, it was painful and we both made mistakes but I don't doubt there were invaluable and necessary lessons and growth in that
My favorite Charlie Kaufman movie is Adaptation, directed by Spike Jonze. It would probably be my favorite of his regardless, but the fact that it got a fictional character nominated for a real Oscar is part of it.
I’m SO excited to be watching you react to this today. This WILL make you think, for sure. You are a lovely reactor, and this 52 yr old from Seattle has enjoyed many of your reactions. Thanks for your thoughtfulness and authenticity. Sending a hug after such an intense flick. Cheers! 💜
Both of the leads in this are so wonderful. Jim was just coming out of a very bad breakup in real life when he was cast and the director Gondry said he was so beautiful in his complete misery that he was perfect for the role. Kate reminds me so much of a couple of my exes... mainly the ones that had borderline personality disorder.. a beautiful magnetic mess. Exciting and terrifying.
Apparently, he wasn't too happy about Ellen Pompeo being cast as Naomi because she reminded him too much of his recent ex Renee Zellweger, as intended. Lol
Awwww I did not know that about Jim at that time! 😢 I am sure it made the film better, but just, wow, now I'll never see this movie the same way again, and it had ALREADY made me cry, without already knowing that! There are actually only 7 movies in my LIFE (5 of which I'd seen after age 30)... that I can remember ever triggered me to cry, and THIS one TIED WITH "The Land Before Time" in getting THE strongest response out of me. 😢
I loved your reaction to this movie. There's something truly magical about Jim Carrey's more dramatic roles. If you have not seen it before, I would love to see you watch "The Truman Show." It is probably my favorite Jim Carrey film.
Joel and Naomi wasn't really a thing. She's in all the deleted scenes, but it's pretty clear they're "relationship" was practically non-existent by the time Clem came along. They were just living together because the House was in both of their names and they would have the occasional conversation about getting back together. That's why Joel brings it up near the beginning. I think a lot of the scenes with Naomi were deleted because it does give off this feeling that Joel was a bad person but that was hardly the case. They didn't really have much of a connection with each other that matched the one he has with Clem.
So, so glad you watched this film. It's beautiful, sad, tender, funny, and poignant. I think the experimental nature of how the film is put together (time skips, overlapping memories, props, unique sets, etc.) combined with great chemistry between Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet and a believable story with layers makes everything work amazingly. I know that the scenes with Joel as a child are a little weird, but I think you put the meaning together well when you observed that so much of Joel's personality can be seen projected from those memories from his childhood. I'm not someone who would want my memory erased, but I think that this film really demonstrates how human that impulse can be. The terrible things we say and do to each other when we're hurt and in relationship... the depths of our pain. I think Joel's line at the end of, "Enjoy it," demonstrates not only his own realization of what to do now that they have a second chance, but also how we should try to move through those moments ourselves: intentionally, while we still have them. Thanks again for watching this!
It's getting harder and harder to find actors who HAVEN'T been in blockbuster super-hero/fantasy movies... Jim Carrey was Riddler, Kirsten Dunst was Mary Jane Watson, Elijah Wood was Frodo (also "Kevin" in Sin City), Mark Ruffalo is Hulk, Tom Wilkinson was Falcone in Batman Begins...
Typical of most relationships I’ve been in. I’m the shy guy who blurts stupid things out at the worst possible times and I’m always attracted to the creative types who are spontaneous and basically everything that I’m not. Opposites attract I guess.
Great reaction! I love that there are so many ways to interpret the meaning of this movie. That's a sign of really great art. Thanks for sharing your reaction with us!
I loved this movie when it first came out and I admit I haven’t seen it in a while, so thanks for rekindling my love for it and I’m glad you enjoyed it. ❤
This movie is even better the second time around i spent the first time so confused lol but once you know whats going on you pick up so many things story wise i didnt notice the first time...Like, I didnt realize the memories went perfectly in reverse at first,(i thought it jumped around) so its cool to watch it again keeping that in mind.
This was written by Charlie Kaufman, who also wrote Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Anomalisa and Synedochy, NY. All deal with and challenge the idea of identity and self. They are all mind-bending and thought provoking as well as kind of crazy.
I LOVE the theme of this movie... That sometimes the PAIN is WORTH all the HAPPY TIMES... Even though Joel and Clem wiped their memories, they still end up together in the end. Call it fate, or destiny, whatever... Joel and Clem were simply MEANT to be together DESPITE all the hard times... Also, for the record... I would NEVER erase my memories!!! The bad memories are your MOST POWERFUL memories that are foundational to who you are as a person... You start messing around with those and you might becomes a completely different PERSON!!!!!
This is one of my absolute favourite movies♥️ I don’t think I would erase my memories, even the most painful ones. Because you can see, they’re still in pain.. they just don’t know why. That’s so much worse.
"...they're still in pain and just don't know why" - YESSSS I also noticed that! There are only 7 movies in my LIFE (5 of which I'd seen after age 30)... that I can remember ever triggered me to cry, and THIS one TIED WITH "The Land Before Time" in getting THE strongest response out of me. To ME, losing any memories that you could potentially learn from and ESPECIALLY losing any good aspects... that concept is just devastating to me. Watching Joel try to rescue some memories after he'd changed his mind but it was too late was SO painfully sad to watch! 😢
It's assumed that Clementine also had a similar process to her memory erasing & her whole Patrick thing kinda made her feel the urge to go to Montauk like Joel.
Okay, this is fascinating to me. Charlie Kaufman wrote it, and in his version-Joel and Clementine don’t land up giving love another go around…knowing that the merry go wheel will eventually stop.❤ Whereas for me~that’s the entire point of the film. It’s at least a delightful and unexpected dessert that popped up when I wanted it, as the film had already unraveled. (dessert~as I do now, with my coffee & every so often, I get spontaneous and DO that!) Perhaps not the entire point, but a strong one, being that life isn’t necessarily about ‘loss’ if falling in love doesn’t take you all of the way through it. I found their willingness to just do it, to continue to begin their relationship (again) anyway~the beautiful and brave exclamation mark of the film. Had Michael Gondry NOT changed the film, and hearing the tapes had merely sent her packing…what would we think of the film? I am fascinated to reimagine it this way. I felt that the Dunst-Ruffalo relationship definitively ought not to have ended. From her perspective, the young man who she likes and vice versa, still is interested, despite knowing that she had been so weak as to idolize their boss, much less involve herself with him despite his marriage, and be manipulated into erasing him by his ongoing control of her. All of this adoration of the process which had elicited from Mark Ruffalo a distinct groan earlier on, hence now that they were now on the same page regarding the erasure of life business, in a better position to move ahead and turn that page to ‘the Help Wanted section’.
This is silly but my Mother always forgets movies, she’s a sharp person, but she’s seen so many. So, the other day I said to her, remember that movie…and she only vaguely did because she’s not an indie fan, but once she recalled the concept: I said, ‘I would LOVE to tick off all of my favorite movies and then watch ‘em all up!’ Okay, not all of them. I love a film that starts so many conversations. Fun to watch you enjoying it, and it makes sense that the ending can’t be ‘wrapped up’…so, I really understood your ending your ending. Bravo 👏🏾 🌹 on the film pic~everyone loves this movie.
One of my fave films. Though tragic, I like to think Joel & Clem find "eternal sunshine" through the continuous erasures. Had the option not been available, they would have never talked again.
Good reaction dude. I've been crushing hard on Kate Winslet since I was a young teen boy. Beautiful, talented, smart, my perfect woman. And she totally nailed American accent. Not many British actors can.
This is my favourite film of all time and I’m always looking for new people to react to it. Must’ve been a while since I last checked, but you had the best reaction to it that I’ve ever seen. It’s so heartbreaking and speaks to love and separation in equally painful measures. I’ll be subscribed forever if this is the way you see the world❤️
32:04 😭😭 An early draft had an old Clementine going to Lacuna at the end of the film. A glimpse of her file shows a long history of previous memory erasures. The final draft finishes on a more optimistic note.
There's a deleted extended scene of Mary listening to her own tape. It explained why she decided to leave and send the Lacuna files their clients. To me, that's one of the best scenes and should've been left in the movie.
I can relate to that. Clementine really reminded me of my ex in some ways, the free spirited nature versus my overly structured self. And yea, it's interesting how isolated I have become recently. I think I'll try to work on that....Hope you can as well. 💙
@@CasualNerdReactions I think there's different aspects of "free spirited" and likewise different aspects of "overly structured", and I do believe there are optimal times/places for both types of tendencies. For example: DURING my free time, I can be quite spontaneous and free-spirited (while still sufficiently maintaining my work and other responsibilities when it's time to do THAT). But for one of my exes, on the other hand... he did not seem to understand that intentionally forgoing work responsibilities (especially excessively and at inopportune times) can threaten one's ability to feed and provide for oneself (which also puts the partner at risk too).
I’m not the biggest Jim Carey fan and I generally hate romantic films but I absolutely love this movie. The entire cast is awesome, especially Jim Carey.👍
Fascinating is a great way to put it...The concept of reviewing a relationship in reverse. Of dissecting it one memory at a time. It makes me very introspective. Plus I love the creative filming! Each scene inside erasing Joel's memories is so unique. It definitely has its uncomfortable moments, but there's so much of this movie that has me coming back for another viewing over and over. It's such an artfully crafted film. Glad you enjoyed it! ~Caroline

I agree with your last toughs, its not about the destiny...
Human Nature (2001) is from both the same director and writer. It's *great* , but was never popular, sadly. Tyrion Lannister and Eowyn are both in it! Along with _many_ other notable actors.
Maybe "Frodo" was just that aspect/character who wants/shows how he wished he could be loved that much, for someone to want to erase him from their memory. Her beautiful face, maybe some of the aspects she told about Joel, and that clinical lab, made him want to become an object of Love from Clem's Eyes. His point of view is like the third person, that looks at the "neighbors green grass", thinks it's greener than his, but also shows how wonderful, a relationship can be seen from a "third person/objective" point of view, as to how the point of view would have kept these memories and would have even copied/mimicked them for themselves. Creepy as it was, also complimentary, and also again, an objective point of view about a couple's love. ❤
Fan Theory: the ending scene where Joel and Clementine are looping down the beach, it indicates that after they meet, they fall into the same pattern, they meet, fall in love, erase their memories, and meet again. And it goes throughout their whole life till the end, which makes it sad, but I find it heartwarming a bit, that true love never ends, that u may leave, but it'll always come back to u, but in a sick sad kinda way
one of my favorite movies EVER!! it’s so surreal and dream-like, and hauntingly beautiful. Michel Gondry is a revelation 😌 after this, you should check out Be Kind, Rewind! another great Gondry film, starring Jack Black and Mos Def!
I came back bc i always look up reactions to my favorite films! I always believed she was in Montauk....bc she went through the same process and Joel...told her in her memory erase...to meet her in Mantuak...subconsciously they both wanted to stay together 😢😢😢
Charlie Kaufman movies are ....unique.... if you liked Eternal Sunshine, you may also like Being John Malkovich (the film that made Charlie K well known). There's also Synecdoche New York, and others. The only thing they all have in common - ironically - is their uniqueness.
Oh my god, I thought that the "Eternal Sunshine" reactions were drifting off now that Valentine's Week is over, but I gasped so hard to see another in my subs, and by one of my favorite reactors! You are always so empathetic and insightful and attentive (can I pile on any more complimentary adjectives, lol?), that I'm sure this reaction to this FANTASTICALLY romantic, clever, and thought-provoking film will be no different! I adore every second of this movie and wouldn't change a thing, and I love that I've got another excuse to watch it (or a condensed version) again today! :D EDIT: 30 Seconds In, and you have no idea what the film is about, other than Jim Carrey and dramatic and "different kind of love story"? WHOOP, I'm super hyped!
I’m currently dealing with the potential end of a twelve-year friendship. Like THE friendship. And it sucks because it’s no one’s fault. He’s dealing with severe mental health issues and has been for a long time. And I can’t seem to help, which would be ok, but it’s gotten to the point where we are hurting each other (not intentionally). He’s neglectful and angry. I’m impatient and push too hard. Apparently I don’t listen well. Just last week we got back in touch and made plans for the weekend, but it fell apart and ended badly. Now we are back to me begging to talk and him ghosting. It’s awful. The days are so long and the not knowing if we can work it out or if this is it is really heavy. Any kind of breakup is just devastating. I completely understand the urge to just erase it all so the current pain stops. But I’d lose SO much if I did. Inside jokes, all the confidence I’ve gained through knowing him, and so much laughter. I wouldn’t trade it, even if this is the end. Even if it keeps going and gets worse before it does end. Because as awful as this is, the good was SO good that’s it’s still a fair trade. Mental illness is cruel and unfair. It’s erased the person I knew and is going to cheat both of us of more good that would have passed between us.
I’m sorry you’re going through that. I found myself pulling away from a very close friend recently for my own mental health and realizing I needed to do that was very difficult. I hope one things are different and you can recover what you had, but mostly I hope you find peace and healing in this season.
this is such a good movie. the acting is great, the music is great, the whole thing is so beautiful. the shots are well done. and the movie is so interesting and unusual. i absolutely love it.
First, a random comment (then I'll answer your question): There are only 7 movies in my LIFE (5 of which I'd seen after age 30)... that I can remember ever triggered me to cry, and THIS one TIED WITH "The Land Before Time" in getting THE strongest response out of me. Part of the "why" is below... Now, to answer your question: No, I personally would NOT erase ANY of my memories, mainly for the same reasons YOU outlined at the end of your video. 😢
Such a great movie! If you are into more indie type movies I highly recommend The Ice Storm, All the Real Girls, The Virgin Suicides and Ghost World! All fantastic movies!
The only way I’d erase my memories, is to erase my memory of this film. So I could watch it again for the first time. Would be pretty confused considering I have a tattoo of it though😅
It’s been quite a while, but I do remember it pretty well. I thought the whole concept of being filmed from birth was absolutely fascinating and watching him slowly come to realize his world wasn’t real was incredibly compelling. It definitely evoked a lot of emotion and now I want to watch it again 🤣
why is it like the 15th time I see this movie and I just now get why 2nd meeting Joel doesn't remember the clementine song when 1st meeting joel did... I'm stupid 😔
Please please please consider a film called "Synecdoche, New York", it's written and directed by the same person who wrote Eternal Sunshine! It probably won't ever win any polls, but I guarantee it'll be unlike anything you've ever seen before! It's deep and dark and hilarious and beautiful.
2 years ago the Kpop artist Taeyeon did a music video that was a total riff on this film, including the memory erasure, the fancy camerawork. Its quite amusing if you know the film. Plus its a nice son. ruclips.net/video/5LbFdY6vGsQ/видео.html
If you like a more serious, dramatic Jim Carey, I think you'd enjoy his film The Majestic. It was filmed near my hometown in California and a lot of people I know met him (not me though).
Wonderful reaction (as usual!) to one of my all-time favorite films. The direction, acting, story, effects are incredible. . May I suggest a film that, alongside this one, stands out... with some apt comparisons. The Film is "STRANGER THAN FICTION." A BRILLIANT film starring another comedic actor not known for his serious roles. Will Ferrell. (He's GREAT in this) Also starring Emma Thompson, Dustin Hoffman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Queen Latifah, and Tony Hale. It's SO GREAT... a strange, beautiful romantic story and SO UNDER THE RADAR. Nobody talks about it, but it's a fantastic film you will NEVER forget. (even if you erase that part of it!)
@@lucianaromulus1408 I haven’t, but it’s actually on my short list to put on a poll sometime this year. Although I’m not sure how well it’ll do. I’ll try to pair it fairly 😅
Bit late to the party here... only just discovered your Amélie reeaction (absolutely in my Top 3 films). I used to work IT support in a school, and one summer holiday I used the DVD collection in the media studies classroom as a library lol. They had a special edition of this DVD which came with a booklet that had the original screenplay! Turns out Howard got Mary pregnant and she had an abortion. Yikes. And in the epilogue, it said Clem had her memories of Joel erased multiple times. Double Yikes.
@@CasualNerdReactions Thanks for the answer. You could watch it again, for the channel. I think if it's not "horror/jump scare" you can watch a good movie again and share your thoughts about the movie. That "first time watching" does not apply to EVERY movie?
I agree! I just prefer to know as little as possible even if rewatching. I considered editing my knives out commentary (a film I've seen more than most recent films) for RUclips and one day I may still.
@@CasualNerdReactions Okay. If you want to watch a truly EPIC movie with a lot of good actors: "The Right Stuff" from 1983, it is glorious, balance inbetween science and faith. And one of the best movies ever made. And a free histoy lesson about test pilots and the space race.
12 Monkeys!
I hope you add more Terry Gilliam to your list. I remember the first time I saw Brazil. Watched it twice in one night.
Ohh good calendar 👍
I'm calling it: 12 Monkeys is now my favorite reaction.
Also, Vertigo is an important film in relation to 12 Monkeys. I don't remember if you've reacted to that yet, or maybe already seen it?
In 2001 my husband died, in 2003 my only child died. In 2004 I decided to go back to university and took a film studies class.
Oh man, I looove this movie! Kate Winslet’s ability to disappear in the character is insane. I don’t see Kate, I just see Clementine.
"we don't learn or grow if we just erase our regrets or mistakes, it might ease the pain tho" is the perfect summary for this movie. I love it so much and it really makes a person think, would you if you could? should you? really enjoyed your reaction, have an eternally sunshine day!

Cheers! 💜
Thanks for the comment Stacy! Appreciate you.
@@that.ll_do_pig "...as intended" ? Wow, so cruel! :P
I watched this over and over years ago because I just loved it. I enjoyed your reactions and comments.
I loved your reaction to this movie. There's something truly magical about Jim Carrey's more dramatic roles. If you have not seen it before, I would love to see you watch "The Truman Show." It is probably my favorite Jim Carrey film.
I’ve definitely seen the Truman show. Very good movie!
Since I am an extremely independent and adventurous person, 'The Truman Show" actually freaked me out :P
@@CasualNerdReactions Since I am an extremely independent and adventurous person, 'The Truman Show" actually freaked me out :P
I got to see this in movie theaters when it came out. It was kind of amazing.
It's getting harder and harder to find actors who HAVEN'T been in blockbuster super-hero/fantasy movies...
Jim Carrey was Riddler, Kirsten Dunst was Mary Jane Watson, Elijah Wood was Frodo (also "Kevin" in Sin City), Mark Ruffalo is Hulk, Tom Wilkinson was Falcone in Batman Begins...
it's kinda sad that the memories of his childhood that he tried to hide in that didn't include clementine were erased as well.
Typical of most relationships I’ve been in. I’m the shy guy who blurts stupid things out at the worst possible times and I’m always attracted to the creative types who are spontaneous and basically everything that I’m not. Opposites attract I guess.
In mannerisms and quirks, not core values lol
Great reaction! I love that there are so many ways to interpret the meaning of this movie. That's a sign of really great art. Thanks for sharing your reaction with us!
Wow so psyched to watch this! Can’t wait!!
I loved this movie when it first came out and I admit I haven’t seen it in a while, so thanks for rekindling my love for it and I’m glad you enjoyed it. ❤
This is one of my favorite movies ever! So glad someone is reacting to it.
One of the most underrated movies ever! Amazing 😻
This is one of my absolute favourite movies♥️
I don’t think I would erase my memories, even the most painful ones. Because you can see, they’re still in pain.. they just don’t know why. That’s so much worse.
That’s a very good point!

It's assumed that Clementine also had a similar process to her memory erasing & her whole Patrick thing kinda made her feel the urge to go to Montauk like Joel.
Killing it mate! Great job
All of this adoration of the process which had elicited from Mark Ruffalo a distinct groan earlier on, hence now that they were now on the same page regarding the erasure of life business, in a better position to move ahead and turn that page to ‘the Help Wanted section’.
literally my favorite movie ever. it's even better the 2nd watch.
I adore your channel and the range in movies you watch is amazing. Thank you for the content. Your great xx
Thank you Penny!
I kind of dig old Clem showing up there.
I loved my take away from this...forgetting the bad memories isnt worth forgetting the good 🥺
There's a deleted extended scene of Mary listening to her own tape. It explained why she decided to leave and send the Lacuna files their clients. To me, that's one of the best scenes and should've been left in the movie.
Oh cool! I'm going to look that one up.
I love this movie but god does it make me more aware of my pain from past relationships and how isolated I’ve made myself because of them…
I can relate to that.
For example:
DURING my free time, I can be quite spontaneous and free-spirited (while still sufficiently maintaining my work and other responsibilities when it's time to do THAT).
But for one of my exes, on the other hand... he did not seem to understand that intentionally forgoing work responsibilities (especially excessively and at inopportune times) can threaten one's ability to feed and provide for oneself (which also puts the partner at risk too).
Man I saw it yesterday and I cried, again
"The Truman Show". Completely different from "Spotless" but just as fine. Seeing them both will redefine Jim Carrey for you (or at least, did for me).
One of my fave movies of the century!
I'm back...this movie caught me by surprise I didn't expect to ponder the question of memories
Such a great reaction. Beautiful recap of a wonderful movie
Adaptation is the most meta movie in history. Brilliant.
EDIT: 30 Seconds In, and you have no idea what the film is about, other than Jim Carrey and dramatic and "different kind of love story"? WHOOP, I'm super hyped!
GREAT reaction to one of my favorite films. Thank you for sharing your thoughts during and after the movie. 👍
One of my favorite movies. Ty
Happiness is good health and a bad memory.
Killer reaction! Glad more people are seeing this beautiful movie :)
this is such a good movie. the acting is great, the music is great, the whole thing is so beautiful. the shots are well done. and the movie is so interesting and unusual. i absolutely love it.
It’s a fantastic film, enjoyed your reaction and your thoughts afterwards 👍🏼👍🏼
First, a random comment (then I'll answer your question):
There are only 7 movies in my LIFE (5 of which I'd seen after age 30)... that I can remember ever triggered me to cry, and THIS one TIED WITH "The Land Before Time" in getting THE strongest response out of me. Part of the "why" is below...
Now, to answer your question:
No, I personally would NOT erase ANY of my memories, mainly for the same reasons YOU outlined at the end of your video.
In fact, when I saw this movie, up until when he actually started getting the procedure done, I was saying to myself "Don't do it, don't do it..."
To ME, losing any memories that you could potentially learn from and ESPECIALLY losing any good aspects... that concept is just devastating to me. Such a great movie! If you are into more indie type movies I highly recommend The Ice Storm, All the Real Girls, The Virgin Suicides and Ghost World! All fantastic movies!
love Ghost World
The only way I’d erase my memories, is to erase my memory of this film. So I could watch it again for the first time. Would be pretty confused considering I have a tattoo of it though😅
Have you seen The Truman Show? It's really good. One of my favorite of Jim Carrey. More a dramatic role as well.
I have seen that one!
@@CasualNerdReactions cool! What did you think?
It’s been quite a while, but I do remember it pretty well. I thought the whole concept of being filmed from birth was absolutely fascinating and watching him slowly come to realize his world wasn’t real was incredibly compelling. It definitely evoked a lot of emotion and now I want to watch it again 🤣
Since I am an extremely independent and adventurous person, 'The Truman Show" actually freaked me out :P
In the deleted scenes Mary had an abortion with the Dr and couldn't deal with all of it and erased it all. But they removed it
This movie is really brilliant. Big concept executed as well as it is big. Watch another earth if you haven’t seen it.
why is it like the 15th time I see this movie and I just now get why 2nd meeting Joel doesn't remember the clementine song when 1st meeting joel did... I'm stupid 😔
34:48 A bit like _Arrival_ (2016), although only one of them got to choose.
The Film is "STRANGER THAN FICTION."
A BRILLIANT film starring another comedic actor not known for his serious roles.
I actually saw Stranger Than Fiction in theaters and I loved it! One of the, maybe 10 films, I bought in my teens.

That's cool! These were all great. What are some other favorites of yours?

@CasualNerdReactions aw I hope you get to it eventually. It's relatively unknown but will forever be one of my faves, AND it has Robin Williams 😎
Underrated movie

I saw it in IMAX when it came out. I will be refreshing my memory and watching it again before the new one. I forget so much. 😅
