    Had a great time listening to your podcast !! I made that blanket in crochet before!! I hated sewing it together !! It did turn out beautiful for us both!! I gave mine to my mother in law. I’m not that far from Canada I live in Idaho by Yellowstone…in the mountains. I have been to Scotland a couple times as a tourist. It’s really nice! I can see why you would want to live there. When I was there they had a bagpipe competition going on, I had never been in a crowd that was closer than shoulder to shoulder it was an awesome experience, the people behind me were breathing on my neck ! The guy in front of me walked in step with me I tried very hard not to touch him I kept my palms up and open flat so they would touch before my chest did. but it was impossible because of the people behind me were pushing , but not hard. We were shuffling down the street, It was jam packed! It funneled out and Then the players stood in a circle about 50 of them to practice, when the sidewalk opened to a square, I was right beside one of them and they started playing it was so loud , it had been pouring rain and the wet cobblestones made it even louder! I could feel the music bouncing off me ! What wonderful memories it brings back. I loved it !! Great video ! Thank you ! It’s been fun knitting with you! 😁😁

      Aw yeah it has so many project pages on ravelry !! So nice to see the different colour combo. And yeah i found it difficult to put everything together and sew the ends (so many ends :'( )
      Thanks for sharing that memory ! Felt like I was there aha. I've never been to America, but would also love to visit the mountains !!

      I hope you get to visit America someday, please feel free to stay with me and my husband if you ever get the chance. We have a spare bedroom, that fits two people nicely. So you can bring a friend. I think we would enjoy chatting about all the yarn projects!!

    Hi I just wanted to let you know that both my daughter and I were influenced by other podcasters raving about Seeknit interchangeable needles and we each bought ourselves the complete Koshitsu premium set and honestly weren’t impressed with them. We both find that the yarn gets caught where the needle meets the cable which is annoying. I then decided to get the chiaogoo bamboo interchangeable set and I love them. They don’t catch the yarn, they’re pointy and the really great thing is you can also use your red cables from your regular chiaogoo set on the bamboo set and vice versa. Anyway, just thought I’d let you know my opinion. 😍

      Thank you for commenting that, that's really really good to know !! I'll definitely look into just getting the chiaogoo ones as I love their metallic ones so it would make sense. Interesting that sometimes the hype can be a little overboard and reality doesnt quite match :)

    Enjoyed hearing about your journey. I lived in Brussels/Waterloo for 12 years. When I first started watching your podcast I had you as a Flemish speaker!!! People often ask me if there are things that I miss about Belgium. I always say the boulangerie and the health system. I’m knitting the Mia sweater using Zakami fingering and KFO silk mohair. I had started the Morel sweater but gave it up as I didn’t think the yarn suited the pattern. Also I didn’t love the layout of the pattern. Moby sweater pattern is much more logical and I’m sure you will have no problems with it. Love your Lumme sweater.
    For content, I really liked to hear what you think of the different yarns - feel, finish, how much they grow with blocking…. Also do you have any fears when you hold PHW with Alva together that they might react differently when blocking?
    After all that, have a good day and happy knitting 😊

      Hello! Sorry for taking so long to reply, I saw your Zakami Mia sweater on insta and it is STUNNING. What a work of art ! I didn't have any issues with blocking the PHW and Alva together, so it's all good ! Hope you're having a great time :) PS: I also miss boulangeries so much !

    I had a lot of fun knitting on my slipover while watching this! I am about to finish my PhD in neuroscience, and I can't wait to be where you are now -- I've been in the striving stage for so long, it'll feel good when the training is done! I'm excited to have a "real" job with a bit more work/life separation and balance!

Something else I didn't mention was the precariousness of some of my training and assistant roles, always on temporary contracts, which can add a layer of stress on the day to day. Neuroscience is a fascinating area, you are very commendable for doing a whole phD on it !! I wish you all the luck !!

    I was knitting on a sock while listening - it was good to hear about your language journey - the first time I watched you on RUclips I could tell you were a French speaker with a Scottish accent - great combination! I have a question, maybe for the next Q&A video - how do you manage the two yarns when you knit fair isle? (I’ve noticed you’re a ‘thrower’) and how do you get the tension even - so that the strands are not too tight across the back?
    Thanks so much for an enjoyable and informative channel.

    Really enjoyed this video. Kinda nice to just hear you speak about some of your knitting thoughts and learn about your personal stuff,. I was knitting on the Morning Sunshine Cowl by TellyBean Knits while listening to you. I am using it as a palette cleanser and was wondering if you use any projects as palette cleansers or in between larger projects. I usually knit socks in between projects but thought the different textures in this cowl would do the trick for me.

    • @thewoollyworker
      @thewoollyworker  Год назад

      Thank you so much! And yeah absolutely, I think I like vests as a palate cleanser, because there usually is minimal finishing and they work up fast. But if I want a really really quick knit, I might do a hat or mittens ! I find socks to take more time than I wish. Cowls would be good though !

    It gave me chills to think that someone wants to move to Canada…😂I live in Edmonton, Alberta and my brother-in-law lives in New Lanark, Scotland with his family. When we compare notes, our climates are very similar, I think we are almost on the same latitude??? We are hoping to go and visit him this year, but that is still to be decided, it will be our first time there, and he’s been there for 13 years, and before that he was in England for 12. Overall each place has pros and cons…you get used to what you have. I can relate to your experience and journey to becoming a therapist (if I can call you that) as I am a nurse and have seen friends struggle to get to where they are as psychologists. Congratulations not only on your knitting journey, which is amazing!!! But your accomplishments as a therapist. My kids are starting out in their adult lives and it’s interesting to watch as a spectator 😂❤ I can not wait for those retirement years when all I do is knit…what covid has enlightened me with is i enough yarn that will last me a lifetime!!! Thanks for sharing! I’m off to continue on with my Copenhagen Cardi for my mom❤.

Kept me company while working on the body of my Azor sweater; I just split for sleeves earlier today. :D Not to play devil's advocate, but with the Chiaogoo sets you can buy individual needle tips to match the rest of your set. >:) I bought a couple extra tips in US 3 and 4, as well as the tiny red ones in size 0 and 1 for socks. :)

    I prefer wooden needles to metal. I hate the clicking noise and find metal needles to slippery and lose more stitches. Wooden needles are warm in your hands. I have 2 sets of interchangeable needle sets by knitters pride. Regarding the Lionbrand wool, if you hold it together with a mohair it makes a much softer fabric. I have used it to make a Moby sweater that way.

    • @thewoollyworker
      @thewoollyworker  Год назад

      Oh sounds interesting! i can't wait to try knitting with some wooden ones then. I find it is faster with metal as they just slide right into place. And interesting about lionbrand !! amazing you were able to make such a nice sweater with it !
