Yeah, I lost my voice last week after being out for a week. It all ready to be recorded, I just need audio!
      Stupid I know.

Hi Pascal, good video, as usual. There are two items you missed in your comparison of PIR with mm-wave. 1. Line of sight; you can 'hide' your mm-wave sensor in a cupboard (handy for security purposes).
    2. Another item is in hot weather, the PIR sensor will become less sensitive.
What I do in my automation is add a condition for the automation to work. Example, in a living room you might want to turn off some of your sensors if you are out but your dog is still in. You can of course disable the complete automation, but using a helper that is set in the dashboard makes it more user friendly for 'Not-Nerds' like my spouse. 🤓

True enough and well spotted, there is the mmWave tutorial coming up, I am going to speak about the combined strength of both PIR and mmWave.
I clean forgot about the line of sight though.
It was a video from hell, but I’ll chat about that in Saturday’s live stream I think.
I hope to catch you there, if only to keep me honest 😊

Mostly i use mmWave sensors for detecting people in a room, they have the advantage of not turning the lights off on you when you are setting still (like reading , etc.), but i do use one PIR sensor under my bedside table for detecting when my feet hit the floor after getting out of bed to go to the bathroom for example. I didn't use a mmWave sensor there because i didn't want my bed covers triggering the sensor and turning on my LED strip under my bed. I have mmwave sensors in my walls totally hidden from view which is another advantage of mmWave sensors. Good video 😀

I like the video because each step is really well explained.
Although in my opinion, it would have been done in the same automation to turn it on and off. Instead of using 2 automations to do it

Right now I aim for simplicity, but it can indeed be done in one automation.
As you pointed out, each step is explained and splitting it allows for easier understanding.
      Thank you for your comment.
