- Took the FZ09 for a small touring ride across the state for work. Other than a bird hitting me in the helmet the trip went surprisingly well. My make shift (North Face backpack) tail bag worked flawlessly and was free. You'll notice the mic hanging out of my helmet, must have fallen out when I put the helmet on. Lucky for you no riveting commentary this time lol.
good to see you got the riding gear on full jacket, helmet, gloves, shorts and tennis shoes
Safety first.
+North50 I wear shorts sometimes, but with them, I wear armored undershorts, and double kneepads, one soft and snug to my legs, and another harder a little more loose. And I wear riding boots as well. :)
+Riggro I've been trying to be more responsible and wearing full gear when riding. Just sucks sweaty balls, literally, in the summer in south Florida.
this is my go-to fz09 video if i just want to watch an fz09
:)
Very nice... thanks!
I enjoyed the engine sound... no wind, either!
Poor birdie... RIP.
Bloody hell - can't wait to i get mine in late march.. oh boy it's gonna be a lovely year and before you know it - the winter is coming soon.. :)
Enjoy your new FZ and ride safe brother
Great video sir!
Thank you, that's very kind of you
Touring an FZ-09 is not so bad ( If you do less than 80 Mph you don't need a screen) but you do go to many gas stations !!
hehe. I love the full jacket on, with shorts!
It's hot af here, plus they are Kevlar shorts lol
I'm not hating! I just like the fact that you're at least playing it as safe as possible. Love the yamaha!
camera angle and your camera is very good and your bike too :)
Thank you, sometimes you get lucky.
what happened at the 4 min. mark ? , the bike slowed down all of a sudden . hahaha!
I don't know, I just felt like giving the bike a rest and taking in all the sights. Lol
Cheers buddy
since I know you actually read the comments, I have a question. Bought a 2016 r3 last season, first bike ever. I put 2600 miles on it in 3 months. Like every rider before me who started on a 300 I now want more power. I am torn between the fz 10 and the 2017 09. What do you think? is the 09 fun in the twisties? I live in Arkansas and there is no shortage of great, scenic, winding roads in my area. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
I have no experience with the fz10 other than it looks like Johnny5 from the short circuit movie. I'm not a fan. On the other hand I can't say enough good things about the fz09. Great bike, good price, comfortable, fun, very quick but lacks some top end. I'd imagine you'd be very happy on either bike after the 300 :)
Thank you sir!
What camera and mic set up do you have? Great picture and sound quality!
why the jacket if you are wearing shorts? just curious. liked the video though
Some of the video I'm in jeans, was just to hot riding back home from working all afternoon to change back into jeans.
Gotcha, always nice to get a reply. Subbed! Keep em coming.
+Zack Smith thanks for the sub👍🏼
Okay, so quick question. I'm going to get the ECU flashed this winter on my '15 FZ-09 because of the snatchy throttle response (especially in A mode). I've got the stock exhaust, but I'm debating getting some kind of aftermarket exhaust. I used to have an FZ8 and ran it with a TwoBrothers slip on. Without the tip I'd end up with a headache after a ride. With the tip in, It was fine. So, I've heard a lot of exhaust sounds from the different aftermarket pipes, but I have no idea how loud they really are. I don't want to buy something that I will hate, but I also don't want to do the flash, then get a pipe later and have to reflash the ECU.
Anyone have some input regarding a decent exhaust that isn't too loud?
Samiam 666 Most are very tolerable with the DB killer in them. I ran the Akra wide open with no restriction and loved the sound. Could always use ear plugs which isn’t bad idea either way. Arrow also makes a nice exhaust for the FZ09.
Samiam 666 Who are you having do the ECU flash? I would recommend vcyclenut.com
@@north50 Yes, I think that is where I'm leaning.
sweet sound man, do you also have a power commander on it?
No power commander installed yet
Sound is amazing man. I'm trying to decided between this or xsr900 as my next bike
+Kaha K I don't have any experience with the xsr900 but can't recommend the FZ09 enough. Just a flat out fun bike to bike.
hi hope you read this but don't suppose you could tell me what that pannier bag is you have that's ideal for me
It's funny I get asked that s bunch. It's an old NorthFace Recon backpack that I strap under the seat and I kind of tuck the top part under itself. Works great and didn't cost me anything. Plus it's easy to take off and wear when I get somewhere.
Pause it at :51 you can see the North Face logo👍🏼
Sick 09, Is that a pyramid windscreen?
Also, how did you delete the front turn signal mounts? Looks awesome! Thanks
+tdf9891 thank you, it is the Pyramid windscreen. I should do video on the turn signal delete. I have some pictures on my Instagram account "North50". Basically cut the stalk out so there was a big hole and then built it back up shaping it, primed and painted them. Also moved the front turn signals inside the headlight some I'm still legal.
+North50 I'll have to check out your Instagram thanks for the response.
question whats the big difference between the Akrapovic titanium and the Akrapovic carbon race line
I don't have any experience with the Carbon Akra for the FZ. I know it sticks out more. I had a carbon Akra on my 07 GSXR 750 and it was the best sound of any bike I've owned. I believe the titanium pipe is a bit louder in a higher tone sort of way compared to the carbon version.
hmm..the FZ seems a little thirsty..ha!! plus you had to really tone it down with the sherrif by your side
+Adrian Wallace (Simplly Addy) It did ok, I was hammering on it some which eats up the mpg's. Just hard to not want to hear the exhaust, I feel just cruising it could have made it there and back in two tanks.
ahh..that explains it..how many mps's does she do?
+Adrian Wallace (Simplly Addy) On average in standard mode around 40+mpg. In A mode grabbing hands full of throtle it drops but still does pretty good.
sweet..more reasons why I'm gonna get me one of these..the blue in your bike looks pretty amazing
Are you riding on the high beam or is that blue steady light for something else?
High beam was on
How's the overall experience? was it loud enough to make your touring a bit tired?
or vice versa
+mohammed nawas
It was comfortable enough and the snappy throttle kept the trip fun. It was 2.5 hours each way but didn't feel like it. The exhaust is something I really enjoy about the bike and never felt like it was droning in my ears.
+North50 that's great. i am too about to get the same exhaust. waiting for my first service to be completed.
I removed the baffle, if the exhaust is to loud you can leave the baffle in.
is this with cat or without? and with baffle or without? thanks!
It's a full pipe which I believe eliminates the cat. I run the pipe without the baffle and love revving the engine to get people's attention. Like when the light turns green or someone is on their phone driving like an idiot. It's pretty loud in the higher rpm range.
What did you use to plug the mirror holes on your bars?
Plastic push in retainers like these

what cam are you using
GoPro hero 3+ black the natural light makes a huge difference. If it's cloudy out or later in the day it doesn't seem as crisp.
thank you for the respond

Is comfortable travel on a naked bike?
Yes it was comfortable, I wasn't sore or stiff after riding and felt like I could just keep going. A windscreen would help I'm sure just to deflect the wind hitting you in the chest all day.
