This Antique Mall Had Incredible Vintage Bargains I Had to Grab!

A huge 1950s kitchen room, a boutique full of vintage fashion, even a shelf full of retro soda brands we haven’t seen in years make this antique pavilion something different than usual! We’re in Champaign, Illinois, a college town where different kinds of collecting and some really interesting specialties are tempting us…and the bargains are ending up in our newly acquired van on its maiden voyage.
The first surprise is a 1912 Coke tray, priced like a 1970s reproduction…but this one is real! We start our pile to buy, quickly adding a sweet Torquay Mottoware chamberstick and other small delights before graduating to a big 1950s Wonder Pony (just $10!) and a wonderful 1930s display shelf that tells us how to sell boxes of socks to unsuspecting bachelors.
This antique and vintage mall has fun collections of things we’re not used to seeing…a case full of salt dips from Victorian times to 1930s Bimini Werkstatte examples…a selection of art glass paperweights (is that scarab Tiffany?)…paper dolls, comics, action figures and vintage hats that reflect a little different collegiate clientele all make this place a fun shopping visit.
We do a great job filling our van, contemplating more bargains on large items (a $22 Victorian chair and $75 walnut entry desk vie for space) while we survey terrific smalls ranging from a Golden Hour invisible hands clock to Manhattan/Park Avenue glass, hand thrown 1930s midwestern pottery and a fantastic kidney shaped table in a space full of Mid-century modern furnishings. A gleaming silver-plated Victorian beverage pitcher on its tilt stand shines brightly as we make our trips back and forth, filling the new van with wonderful old collectibles we can’t wait to show our Florida collectors at our upcoming shows!
