- A simple guide on how to effectively be effective (and polite) while using a teleporter and building your own. If you know any rude, crude, teleporter-stealing dudes... shoot 'em a link to this video and say, "Check yo'self, fool!" and then throw up a sideways peace sign. There's no way they wouldn't take you seriously after that.

Pro engi TF2 tip: if you build a tele entrance it'll be grateful if you build an exit as well.
When you see a built entrace without an exit, it meets the tper is currently in transit, the engineer doesn't have time yet, or is building it. Just be patient. Engineers have to deal with a lot while you guys yell at them.

I don't play tf2 myself, but if you were using a teleporter and were paranoid about getting killed, wouldn't it be easier to use a taunt kill just before you teleport to insta-kill whatever's in front of you? (I'm thinking of the gunslinger when I say this.)

Fun Fact : Teleporters wont take anybody moving faster than 5 Hammer units / s. So if there are a couple of players trying to take the tele at once, and you taunt while being on the tele, you'll take it before all of them.
Get this to the top. Really helps if people won't stop dancing around on teleporters.

The shortstop's shove mechanic is actually a reference to how the Scout doesn't let anyone on the fucking teleporter and constantly tries to shove them off of it despite the fact that he is literally the fastest class and could already be there in the time he spent shoving people
It's also a reference to how he always pushes people away from health packs when he has taken 5 points of damage

It's also worth noting that if you've got a weapon that can boost your mobility or speed, like a rocket launcher, powerjack, etc, it might be a good idea to let another guy who doesn't have one of those take the teleporter first. Sure, you might be higher on the priority list, but you can always just jump to the front or pull out your speed-utility-thing and make your way to the front that way.

i feel this also applies to medics despite their increased movement. sure they're higher on some versions of the priority list, but they're also squishier and less able to handle a fight 1v1.
SoundSmithTF2 Sticky/rocket jumper + quick fix medic. The GRU have gotten me to the front lines when teleporters weren't there, but I always took teleporters when they were there tho.
To be fair, a medic can also just pocket a Scout since their speed matches their pocket on every medigun now.
I still don't understand why they did that. The Quick-fix is basically trash-tier now, right?

@@michaelhammers7828 If you slow the video down/go frame by frame (, and . keys)/pause at the right time, you can see a soldier walking away as Dane turns to the left just after the spy was killed. You can also see in the killfeed that the kill was credited to a played named 'Based' using the Direct Hit; this kill message shows up unhighlighted, showing that Dane was in fact not that player. From this evidence, I conclude that Based -- a player playing as soldier with the Direct Hit equipped -- must've come out of spawn just after Dane, and recognized the scout's shifty behavior just as Dane did, and acted on spy-checking the scout almost simultaneously with Dane, giving the outward appearance from Dane's perspective that his Rescue Ranger instead fired a rocket, killing the spy instantly. This appearance is made more convincing by the fact that Based walked away almost immediately after securing the kill, that Dane only caught a glimpse of him, that the video was cut soon afterwards, and perhaps most critically that the video lacks sound. On that last note, had the video contained the sound of the recorded clip rather than Dane's soothing, dulcet narration and tastefully chosen music, we would've heard the sound of a soldier's footsteps, perhaps a soldier voiceline pretaining to a spy callout, and the soldier's call of "Medic!" as he walked away, this last detail being visible in the short glimpse of the other player.
I hope this discussion has settled the debate on not only what happened, but why it was perceived as it was.

As a Medic main, I still get angry remembering a time when an Engineer had a level 1 teleporter right at the spawn and the frontlines needed healing so I tried to take it... but then an idiotic Scout shoved me off, teleported, everyone died and then the Scout tried to blame it on me

I'll add one thing to the list. While queuing for the teleporter, do some basic spy checking. Spies like to hide near the entrance and wait for players to leave before trying to sap. Put a stop to that early by aiming a few puffs of fire or a couple of rockets in nearby corners while you wait, the dispenser on the other side will refill your ammo anyways.
I'll add one thing to your comment: when around any Engineer buildings, take a few seconds of your time to spy-check the area. It will take no more than three clicks to, at the very least, get a camping Spy out of his comfort zone, and maybe even reveal a cloaked Frenchman so you can get an easy kill while helping out your fellow hardhat-wearing support class.

I was playing the other day and me (a pybro) and another pybro both respawned and there was only one teleporter. We both stood next to it and used the "go go go" voice command at the same time. He ended up going through and then it got sapped, so I could fix it with my homewrocker. Honestly one of my favorite moments in the game so far.

I'm not good enough for comp so this is a pain for me. I am polite to heavies, soldiers, engies and meds, but noone is ever to me.

Teleporters save almost as much travel time as medics save respawn time. They're important in getting people to the front in a timely manner. I feel like tele priority also depends on what weapons the classes are using. Say there's a demo on a map that has clear (ish) terrain and a high skybox. The demo could just as easily sticky jump across a good portion of the map, and a medic (provided the med is using the quick fix) could get a ride with the demo and save time for others waiting in line.

One time in a pub, I had a player tell me that I had the best teleporter placement he'd ever seen. All I did was do what any Engie should do (get it close to the front line, faced away from a wall, pointing where people should go). I think that says less about my Engineer skills than it does about the average pub Engie's skills.

i see people fighting over teleporters so often that its just absolutely frustrating to even once get teleported.
and even if there is a linem often people think they are the special snowflake and cheat. going in front of everyone wich makes everyone wanting to go first.

I'm sure most people are familiar with soldier's slower walk speed, therefore placing him at higher priority on the list but as a self proclaimed airstrike god soldier, I just rocket my way to the front lines. Even if I see a scout on the tele I always just press z + 7 while looking at him and rocket jump into the enemy's face. I also like how teleporters are usually placed in front of the spawn door because whenever someone is qued up for it, I can give them and myself a speedboost.
I like how the intros are the same but different each time.
I have to say, with so many new players coming in, or as it feels, I say this is very informative and useful.
Plus, as an engine main myself, it's nice to spread teleporter etiquette around.
Also, interesting fact in case people didn't know, using the Eureka Effect's teleporter function while your teleporter is sapped makes it easier to remove the sapped if your teleporter is far away from you. You can still teleport to the exit. :3

Pro-tip: equip the eureka when you try to put a tele down. If you do, as long as 1 half of the eventual system survives, they take half the metal to upgrade and half the strikes to do so, regardless of what wrench you use afterwards. And if your tele has a line and you gotta be at the front fast, warp over there, this won't use the porter's charge. Once you're done doing your thing, warp back and get your proper wrench.

Fun fact: I learned this years ago when I was was in line for a tele, if you taunt on it, no one can push you off and you can teleport first. Just don't use a long taunt, because you'll probably die on the other side.
This tutorial on how to use teleporters correctly really helped me especially who goes first in a line so I was playing Pyro and there are a bunch of different classes at the same Teleporter and they all made a line and I was before medic but I knew to let the medic go first since he’s gonna affect the team more and sniper was after the medic and I knew that he needs to be behind people more so I should take the teleporter so tutorial really helped so thanks

I feel like from my own experience as a medic if there are teammates on the other side with a sentry gun within sight of the exit then I would go through first but otherwise I would let the heavies, soldiers and demos go first so that I don't have to see a respawn timer again

Having a good engie will probably win you the game, one time there was an engie that put a teleporter by the roof door on sawmill with a dispenser by it, and a sentry on the next roof guarding it. That set up made it easy to teleport in, spray pipes, run to get more ammo, and keep a sticky trap behind the dispenser for when he calls out a spy sapping. Had 3 team wipes in the first round

so ur saying if iam a scout and i see a leave 1 teleport theres no need to go to it cuz scout is fast enough to go to the other teleport so my team can go the teleport cuz there are not fast. but a level 2 or 3 teleport its ok cuz it takes 5 and 3 seconds.
