Always trademark your brands if you've got the budget to do so. If you believe that your brand will be successful (which you should do), it gives you the power over your own brand. Don't let noone else have that power. People in this life can be wicked - I've heard people that have trademarked other peoples brands as they are blowing up and then make them buy it off them for a large sum. The cost of trademarking is pretty light when you think about that. Even if it's not that, you want the power over your brand. If someone decides they want to use your brand name without permission, you can actually charge them a fee to do so. This is something every brand should be thinking about when starting up, especially if you have a product or if you're developing some sort of brand.

I love the trademarking topic 😁 One thing I dislike is how with Brexit our UK trademarks don't seem to have any EU protection. I've trademarked a few marks and without a lawyer. Some will literally charge for them to do a search you can do for free.

I actually did have a case where the examiner was rightfully overruled for his decision to reject my application by whoever was above him. And to add to the point of if it's worth it people should look at supreme and their issue with not trademarking. No matter how small you are you should protect what's yours. I’m about to graduate from uni, but don’t have a branding/logo solidified yet… however I have my products which will be exhibited to the public/ industry experts etc and online so do want to protect my work. Is there a way of doing this without having a logo/finalised branding?? Or would I have to trademark under my own name???
You don't trademark an invention/or process the same way you don't patent a logo, slogan, brand name etc. Trademarks protect logos, slogans and brand names, so it is different but still holds a lot of weight. I hope that helps xx

Hello! Thank you or your video! Could you please advise, can I register a trademark in UK without legal assistance and remotely if i am from Kazakhstan and I live in Kazakhstan as well? Or can only UK citizens do it?
I paid the 170 and got a letter to say that there are others similar to mine... I edited my name so it would not conflict but it wasn't enough... I think I chose the only viable class but it was the same as theirs... I'm going to seek legal advice to see if I can get help on this.
@@TadiiGI changed my the areas I was covering and submitted it, i've got to wait 2 months for any conflicts, fingers crossed I get it :) One other issue is that you get lots of spam delivered to your address because it's made public as a result.

I'm glad it came at the right time. So I trademark my name and 2 logos but my logos are stylised text of my brand name if that makes sense. Yes I did it all in the same application. I believe it was £170 or maybe £220 because of the additional class I added, I did try and find receipts but I couldnt find it. I know I didnt pay any extra logo and name wise if that makes sense. I really hope this helps💕

I 100% agree. I’ve heard the same thing about people trademarking other peoples brands and it’s mad! Definitely protect what’s yours and believe in it

Does trademarking hold the same value as "owning" or patenting the idea, as apparently mine is not patentable as its a way of doing business.

I registered my business first, so my trademark is owned by my business. So it could be a good idea to do this

if I do not want to add my personal address on my trademark registration can I add a virtual one instead, do you think this is wise?
If your business is registered I’m sure you can use that business address for your trademark! I’m not 100% sure so perhaps do a bit of research xx
