I saw this play in London in the late 70’s and it was BRILLIANT! I remember it like it was yesterday- feel so lucky I had the chance to see these two performing together. SO good!!!
I love the songs from The Point, especially the versions that Davy & Micky recorded. Wish they had done a live taped version also to see what the play was like! May Nilsson's music live forever :-)
I saw Micky last Thursday. He was great and phunny. It began to rain as he took center stage. His sister, Coco was with him singing. For a 63-year-old performer, he sounded excellent, and looked much younger too. The special seating was only half full, and the audience behind us was between 60 - 85 people. It wasn't a jam packed turn out. Micky sang "Purple Haze," and Coco sang: "Different Drum." Concert lasted one hour.
You can actually buy the original London cast recording online. I was looking for it for many years as I had seen the London production and all of a sudden I was able to find it when I searched.
thanks! interesting segment. Natural entertainers. I am lucky to have the LP from the cartoon "The Point" which followed. I remember seeing the cartoon on TV some decades back.
Damn Micky! He's rockin that fro he's got there. Usually I'm weirded out by big hair, but damn he looks hot there. The only time one of the Monkees' hairstyles ever scared me was Davy's mullet. Fear the mullet...
OMG I don't know who's cuter, Micky or Arrow. I miss Davy so much. Micky should've somehow played Arrow, 'cause he and Davy were buds. ( love the monkees AND the point)
One correction. Micky came on August 28th, which was a Thursday, not a Friday as I had originally mentioned. The sound / quality of music was like 85 -90% as good as they sounded like some four decades ago. Not bad for a 63-year-old performer! Everyone loved it. At one time, a woman came running up to the stage, jumped onto the platform and gave Micky a hug. Security was cautious and decided she was not a threat. Micky reciprocated the gesture, and the concert continued in fashion.
Anyone got clips of micky and davy [romoting the single oh my my or i love you better i know they did do it on a show or something would be cool to find that i love oh my my changes is my fav monkees album of all time
Palmer Alaska State Fair, August 21st. If you do come, bring a tennis ball with you and toss it in the air. I will see it, and come and introduce myself. RU able to make the trip? I've been a Monkees fan since I was five , which was 1966. Such great music and memories!
Yeah, the decade of the sixties was contrived of cool music. I wish I could have met them as a kid. Oftentimes, I wonder how my life would have been like, if I was a teen during the sixties. I'd be ten or twelve years older than what I am now. I'll tell you how the concert was like.
@girl920 Agreed on all your points. Really wish they'd recorded this version. Davy and Micky's voices fit so well together. Love 'em. What's the name of this song?
Now,I've asked this several times of many people but there's got be a copy of their performance in "The Point" somewhere. This performance with the piano alone is great! Would love to hear the whole song just of that. Where can I get a copy of this here in the US?
I still love and miss Davy so much. I loved him the first time I saw him in 1966 and always will.

I love this video of Micky and Davy! Love it, so sad Davy is gone.
Old EastEnders fan here just realizing that the little hostess was Susan Tully 'Michelle Fowler'. She was about 9 at the time. Excellent delivery!

Great to see Arrow. Wasn't sure how such a key element would be presented in a musical of The Point.
