I was there, right front of the stage. Halford's band opened for SLAYER. That was the first ever SLAYER concert in Bulgaria. Man, what a roasting heat it was that day... awesome memories though, it was EPIC !!!
+Karl Keesel Something happened in between that time frame where his range just declined. The worst point was around 2008/2009, he sounded pretty poor during that time. From 2010 onward he's been getting better than he has been in a long time. Lately Priest have been pulling out songs like Screaming for Vengeance and performing them with a decent amount of success (of course, not like in 82, but pretty good none the less). He even did the ascending high note that he used to do in the 80s at the end of Desert Plains recently, which surprised me. It was probably to do with smoking, and age. He was a heavy smoker till sometime in the mid 00s I think. He's gotten better since quitting, thats for sure. Age also changed his voice, which happens to some, but not all singers.
***** yes is true.... robert plant suffered a same type of lost in his voice between 73-75 but later 77 to 80 his performances are getting better and his top between his solo career between 82-84 when he has a clean and high voice even better than the led zepp era... but later 85 onward he lost his voice again...now in recent years he has regained some of its register, having a finer voice (similar to the zeppelin era) even reaching the same old notes in the early led zepp career..... Halford has now experienced a recovery of his voice quite similar to Plant, even at the age that they currently have...Bono from U2 also recovery his voice and now he sings better than the beginings of the 2000s he sounds like the old days...Bono and Robert Plant were constant smokers..
I saw him at is absolute prime in January 2001, Resurrection world tour. 5 days before Rock in Rio. It was the best night of his career. From 2002 he started sounding different and from 2003 onwards it just wasn't the same. He had 2 insane years from recording resurrection 1999 to Live Insurrection in 2001. He blew his voice
I hoped they'll open the show with that track. Sound wasn't great, that stadium's acoustics sounds like a bunker. But oh man.. the adrenaline and euphoria! Instant goosebumps!
Nunca cantó Painkiller tan cómodo como en ese 2002 🔥🔥🔥 Impresionante. De hecho, fue su último gran momento vocal, ya en 2004 al regresar a Judas Priest estaba tocado…
Where is the rest of this show??? Great footage. I don't think this is crucible tour though. Pat Lachman is still playing guitar here. Must've been in between the two albums.
Rob,s best live vocal range of Painkiller of all times

Halford was a heavy smoker too up till the mid 00s I think.
He almost certainly blew his voice out. He's an old man guys. Singing like this will eventually result in that kind of damage.

Porcoddio...Painkiller intro was never this accurate and brutal...Bobby Jazorbek is such a killer drummer...
Yes! This is very cool my friend!

Boling Metal! Halford & Dio The Greatest Metal Singers Ever. Bar None!
So he went out of the (very) high mix for the 1st chorus and just did it in chest voice? :D Nice to hear him mix it up more in all honesty

How many times has he forgotten the lyrics to this song or messed them up?
It's understandable though...:)
Is there a recording of the Slayer performance that night?
Wow didn’t know the bassist from AAF was in his band lol
