I love how unstable it is in literally every second of taxi, take-off, flight and landing. But if you shoot something down with it, the pride couldn't be larger. Especially on a multiplayer server.

Loved the video! But it hurts a little bit seeing OP ramming the RWR or trying to lock and seal the canopy when it’s open by forcing the levers. It’s amazing how sturdy this beast is because I can see people coming in and just smashing everything they see 😂

that red button you pressed was to disable the mig 21s somewhat autopilot, you use the trigger to shoot the cannon and for missiles or other things you use the weapon release , the weapon release has a cover and is behind the red button you pressed :) Good video

In a regular MiG-21bis the guarded push-button releases external stores, the folded trigger is only used for the cannon (the bis version features an internal GSh-23 cannon). That's why it has a guard, which is not necessarily the case in other versions, particularly those that cannot carry any guns at all (I think the MF version has the radar target track button there, rather than in the middle like in the bis, but I'm not sure about that). Is the internal gun removed in the reconnaissance version?
If the guarded button's the stores release, the trigger must have a master-safe function for it, meaning that it need be unfolded to arm both the gun and the stores release system. MAPO Mikojanja kept the gun wiring for the GP-9 cannon pack, which can be switched for a full one during routine ground servicing, in the -21M/SM and later.

Most are for startup, emergencies or manual operation of certain systems, in combat there's only about 10 switches and buttons you need to use on the MiG-21. And radio controls. The MiG-21 had a few radios for different frequency ranges.

This plane has outlived its same generation the f4 phantom. It’s dogfight with the f4 phantoms are classic during their campaigns in the vietnam war. This is one of the reasons why the USA established the top gun school to train US pilots in the art of dogfighting in which during that time the USA is loosing its edge on that art of aerial combat.
i could be wrong, but iirc the fishbed was used more as an interceptor and was used for hit-and-runs sort of, not really dogfights if they could avoid it. Still interesting though

And, considering what we know about the MiG 21, I can almost guarantee you it was a situation of two or three MiG-21s jumping a single F-16. Vietnamese pilots weren't even allowed to take on an F-4 one-on-one... so they laid traps for them. Have a single MiG fly by, try to get an F-4 to chase it... then fly into two other MiG-21s laying in wait. But, one-on-one... they were dead meat... just ask Vietnam's "most famous Ace". Oh, right... you can't. Because Randy Cunningham and Willie Driscoll killed his ass, in one-on-one combat... up close and personal... without a gun.

This plane has outlived its same generation the f4 phantom. It’s dogfight with the f4 phantoms are classic during their campaigns in the vietnam war. This is one of the reasons why the USA established the top gun school to train US pilots in the art of dogfighting in which during that time the USA is loosing its edge on that art of aerial combat.
i could be wrong, but iirc the fishbed was used more as an interceptor and was used for hit-and-runs sort of, not really dogfights if they could avoid it.

The reason we put the F-4 to bed was that we have lots of budget to build new 4th generations fighters like the F-15, F-16 and so on. North Korea and a lot of other poor nations are still flying this crate. It was neat in 1965, but not anymore.

Yep... so if you're keeping score at home, the score is now MiG-21 (one)... F-16 (4,789). And, considering what we know about the MiG 21, I can almost guarantee you it was a situation of two or three MiG-21s jumping a single F-16. They do very well when they have a numerical advantage... just ask the Vietnamese, because that's the only way they could win against the F-4. Vietnamese pilots weren't even allowed to take on an F-4 one-on-one... so they laid traps for them. Have a single MiG fly by, try to get an F-4 to chase it... then fly into two other MiG-21s laying in wait. But, one-on-one... they were dead meat... just ask Vietnam's "most famous Ace". Oh, right... you can't. Because Randy Cunningham and Willie Driscoll killed his ass, in one-on-one combat... up close and personal... without a gun.

I felt that F-14 was made rougher in surface and details than Mig21 when I watched similar walking around videos.
The AK47 of the skies, no frills but supersonic robust killing machine.
