Kenny Everett was a genuis,I'm 32yrs old but can remember some of his shows before he died, the guy was a LEGEND!! wish he was still around, and the Squeeze nuff said R.I.P Kenny you truly are a comic Legend
Honest to God..Just this whole upload is one I watch at keast 2 - 3 times a month. It just has me howling with tears running down my face because it's so wonderfully silly. Then add in a fantastic song, & great VT..especially with The Sweeney. One of those rare uploads. I can be feeling like shit, but watch this and despite untold views before, it just cheers me uo instantly, and makes me cry with laughter. Rare thing. RIP Kenny. Legend.
0.43 our fave part of the kenny everett video show it is off the lone ranger by quantum jump kenny had some stunning bands on his show and squeeze i love them.
In good old Aussie, I fondly remember the Thames TV intro before the Match of the Day played over here on a Monday night with Brian Moore way back in the seventies. Happy days.
They're clearly miming to a different recording to the hit version, which is an edit of the full-length album version. Was this one of those Musician's Union rerecordings that had to be done to prove the band didn't mime?
@xxxKINGFROGxxx I remember once Kenny had taken the Thames TV bit & replaced the london skyline with cartoon breasts... cant think why I remember that so vividly!
I retract my comment , in fact despite being born late 85 I'm heavy in to NEW WAVE music , it fact the middle part of this song ( the instrument solo) sounds very advanced for the late 70s differently a mid 80s new wave sound .
Personally I always thought Kenny Everitts links into other stuff were the best bits of the show. Never thought much of his characters really, though 'best possible taste' and sid snot did have their moments. He was actually better when he was just talking to the camera himself. Gotta love squeeze, bit anti p.c as well with the old 'oombongo' link there...probably wouldnt be able to get away with that these days despite the fact there is obviously no malice meant.
I think it may have something to with the released recording had Harry Kakoulli (sp?) on bass, he left just as CFC was a hit and was replaced by the guy in the clip; John Bentley. So perhaps they had to re-record it to prove they could!
The Indians send signals from the rocks above the pass The cowboys take position in the bushes and the grass The squaw is with the corporal, she is tied against the tree She doesn't mind the language, it's the beatings she don't need She lets loose all the horses when the corporal is asleep And he wakes to find the fire's dead and arrows in his hats And Davy Crockett rides around and says it's cool for cats It's cool for cats Cool for cats The Sweeney's doing 90 'cause they've got the word to go To get a gang of villains in a shed up at Heathrow They're counting out the fivers when the handcuffs lock again In and out of Wandsworth with the numbers on their names It's funny how their Missus always looks the bleeding same And meanwhile at the station, there's a couple of likely lads Who swear like how's your father and they're very cool for cats They're cool for- Cool for cats To change the mood a little, I've been posing down the pub I'm seeing my reflection, I'm looking slightly rough I fancy this, I fancy that, I wanna be so flash I give a little muscle, and I spend a little cash But all I get is bitter and a nasty little rash And by the time I'm sober, I've forgotten what I've had And everybody tells me that it's cool to be a cat Cool for- Cool for cats Shape up at the disco when I think I've got a pull I ask her lots of questions as she hangs onto the wall I kiss her for the first time, and then I take her home Invited in for coffee, and I give the dog a bone She say she likes the discos, she's always on her own I said, "I'll see you later," and I give her some old chat But it's not like that on the TV when it's cool for cats It's cool for- Cool for cats (Ooh-ooh-ooh) (Ooh-ooh-ooh) (Ooh-ooh-ooh) (Ooh-ooh-ooh) (Ooh-ooh-ooh) (Ooh-ooh-ooh) Very kind Thank you very much Thank you
This show was way ahead of it's time, nothing like it on TV today, RIP Kenny.
This whole show seems like a huge fever dream and I absolutely love it!

We want Squeeze back together !!!
Will see them at the o2 after lockdown
Where would we be if hadn't had Sid Snot in our lives?
Just saw them live in Dublin- great performance, real pros.
Only Kenny had the balls to play Bohemian Rhapsody in full on Capital Radio.....it made Queen!!
They're clearly miming to a different recording to the hit version, which is an edit of the full-length album version. Was this one of those Musician's Union rerecordings that had to be done to prove the band didn't mime?
KEYBOARD PLAYER - LIKE A BOSS
Really catchy song! Hooray for the 80s!
Well, it's early 1979, but the style is early 80s.

Sorry, it's just not the same without the legendary dancing girls who appear in other videos of this. :(

@zarathustra2k1 I've also got the single. Pink vinyl in a picture sleeve. It seems like it was only yesterday.
thanks for the delicious new look at jools. ahhh, i'd like to be a cigar for just five minutes...!
@gemimasaliva Have never heard this version, either. It's not on any of my records.
There's Gilson's nice 20" TAMA bass drum again....hang on...it might be a Ludwig,,,,
i thought it was - The Escape Club 'Call it Poison' but after watching the clip on youtube, i was pretty close but no cigar!
Priceless, the best show on earth and twenty five years on political correctness killed the video show IE, british comedy
Kennys great. Wonder which one of squeezes pants he got in to
Jools is smokin!!

I think it may have something to with the released recording had Harry Kakoulli (sp?) on bass, he left just as CFC was a hit and was replaced by the guy in the clip; John Bentley. So perhaps they had to re-record it to prove they could!
the audio @ 0.44 is taken from The Lone Ranger by Quantum Jump

In this video, he is John Thaw, who was in a car
What recording is this?
why at :25 does it start playing "Goodbye Girl"?
Anyone know what version this is? Sounds different to the single version I know.
Its the version on the Kenny Everett show...
Where's the blondie?
In this Cool for Cats video, the background has two cars and a couple of a man and a woman
Geez, they look like kids!
Could it be possible that these guys are miming??
Of course they are. It's a TV show in the 70s/80s.
@JohnnyLovely2 Brit humour is at its best when its wierd. Monty Python prime example.
Not the same without the two girls though
2true m8
i live ear.
Jools Holland has hardly changed. at all..... blimey
0:42 - Translation, anyone?
The Indians send signals from the rocks above the pass
The cowboys take position in the bushes and the grass
The squaw is with the corporal, she is tied against the tree
She doesn't mind the language, it's the beatings she don't need
She lets loose all the horses when the corporal is asleep
And he wakes to find the fire's dead and arrows in his hats
And Davy Crockett rides around and says it's cool for cats
It's cool for cats
Cool for cats
The Sweeney's doing 90 'cause they've got the word to go
To get a gang of villains in a shed up at Heathrow
They're counting out the fivers when the handcuffs lock again
In and out of Wandsworth with the numbers on their names
It's funny how their Missus always looks the bleeding same
And meanwhile at the station, there's a couple of likely lads
Who swear like how's your father and they're very cool for cats
They're cool for-
Cool for cats
To change the mood a little, I've been posing down the pub
I'm seeing my reflection, I'm looking slightly rough
I fancy this, I fancy that, I wanna be so flash
I give a little muscle, and I spend a little cash
But all I get is bitter and a nasty little rash
And by the time I'm sober, I've forgotten what I've had
And everybody tells me that it's cool to be a cat
Cool for-
Cool for cats
Shape up at the disco when I think I've got a pull
I ask her lots of questions as she hangs onto the wall
I kiss her for the first time, and then I take her home
Invited in for coffee, and I give the dog a bone
She say she likes the discos, she's always on her own
I said, "I'll see you later," and I give her some old chat
But it's not like that on the TV when it's cool for cats
It's cool for-
Cool for cats
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
Very kind
Thank you very much
Thank you
