Catholic questions and answers videos will be very useful for faithful and suspicious non believers. Generally we can see the argument from the non Catholics those have no knowledge or clue about the faith. All the doctrines are biblical but they disagree frequently, because they don't know about the scripture or their misinterpretation of the scripture.
Introduction 2:28 I am spiritual but not religious. I am a good person, and I don't need religion. I don't believe in organized religion. 8:58 You believe Jesus is God but Jesus himself says in Matthew 24:36: "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only." If he doesn't know that, then how could he be God? 15:19 That may be true for you but not for me. Whatever is right for me, may not be right for you. This is my truth, and that's your truth. 21:10 There is no good or bad. 22:50 I believe in God, but I don't believe that Jesus is God. I don't believe in the God of Christianity. 28:06 Have you ever read the Gospels? 29:04 Was Jesus a lunatic? 31:27 Was Jesus a master at deception? Was he a liar? 32:55 Maybe Jesus was a good man, but his apostles created a legend out of Jesus. 37:50 I am not interested in God. I just want to have fun, and enjoy life to the fullest. 44:05 Since God said that capital punishment was necessary for certain crimes and since the good thief on the cross acknowledged that he was being justly punished, how should we understand Pope Francis when he says that the death penalty is now inadmissible. 54:27 I am a recent convert to the Catholic Church. How can I know what is right and what is wrong when Popes are changing doctrine? 59:29 We must be living in the End Times. Look at what is happening in the world. The loss of God and the rise of totalitarianism, etc. How do you respond to these claims? 1:03:43 How can you explain purgatory to a Protestant, and what Bible verse can we bring up that mention purgatory? 1:06:28 How can we equip people in faith formation at the parish level to be better at defending the faith? 1:08:55 Why can't women be ordained as priests? 1:11:42 I am personally opposed to abortion but I would never tell anyone, nor my children, not to have one. 1:14:19 It doesn't really matter if you are Catholic or not, as long as you are a good person you'll go to Heaven.
People who want to be spiritual but not religious? I don't know how to diplomatically say, "What it sounds like is you don't want to be told you're wrong about anything, that anything more powerful than you exists, that you worship your own ideas, and want to be able to dodge any sort of attempt to corner you into saying something absolute. Also, that you can chase the next squirrel or shiny thing if you want without any sort of restrictions." Of course there are self proclaiming spiritual people who can pose more complex arguments and rebuttals other than what was stated here or, "...oh...", so be prepared for an actual argument with someone who has thought through their spirituality. And that burden of proof game can turn against you if the person you are talking to has a half a brain. These are all great points of argument and a necessary first line of verbal defense but a lot of it is word play or rhetorical tools and not rigorous apologetics. I'm only saying this because I have learned through a history of being confrontational that most people aren't going to roll over because you made a sensible argument or three.
Yep. Most of these "spiritual" people tend to also suffer from the capital sin of pride. They are masters of their own destiny (aka Luciferion philosophy). We live in an era of self worship, it's repulsive.
Words have consequences. When the topic of ordaining women comes up, I’ll start off by pointing out that a woman can no more be a priest then a female monarch can be a king. A female monarch is a queen and a female ordained to the priestly order is a PRIESTESS. That word has very pagan connotations, as it rightly should. I simply point out that the Catholic Church cannot have priestesses. So I never talk about female priests, I always talk about priestesses. By simply doing that, I often get my point across and “win the argument“ with no further explanation. A few people will further argue the point, but they are the rare exception. That one comment about female monarchs can’t be kings has actually completely ended the discussion with Catholics who were were vehemently for ordaining women. They couldn’t bring them self to say priestess.
Thank you your session.
