Oh boy the benefits of doing without makes it so easy to be so happy with little that is like clean luxury! Thank you so much for this video! Sincerely, BM
I've had a few of those shower water heaters that took some getting used to. One that stands out had a thermostat that kept turning the heater on and off. Nearly scalding water for a minute, then unheated water for a minute. The reason I remember it so well was I was sharing the shower with a new friend one night and while I was soaping up I moved her to under the water flow and when the heater kicked on the water got very hot. She wasn't used to hot water and she screamed a little and yelled "what you trying to do? Cook me?". Just one of those vacation memories I'll never forget.
After spending $50 the night before for a nice place I wanted to see what else was available John. I think there is another 1 or more pension houses in town also.
Maylin and I stayed at pension house in Bohol can't remember the name of it but was nice and saved us money.. Totally her idea but was glad we did as it was very simple and we had everything we needed
Good video Rod. I normally take a bucket shower in my apartment. You can take a hot bucket shower anywhere if you carry a 4 liter rice cooker around with you, but really a 2L electric kettle would probably heat enough water for a good bucket shower. One boiling gallon of water to 4 gallons tap water. Really, You could shower with a little over half that much but I like dumping the leftover over my head. You can be as comfortable as you are creative.
Interesting video Rod , some reasonable accommodation there for the price , and good enough for a night or three when you are travelling around . I’m not into sharing a cr , and I do like a warm shower except when it’s really hot outside, but the option is there for budget travellers , who I’m sure will be happy at that price . Looks like you are having a real good look at Bohol, and that’s something that I would like to do more of , even though Ive been there before . You give good info Rod , thank you .
After spending $50 for a nice room I wanted to see what else what available Brian. Fortunately, most of the rooms had their own CR. Backpackers and local travelers are used to the low rate and shared CR.
Yes I was quite impressed at what you found for the money there Rod . They were more than good enough for what I would normally use when travelling. As long as they are clean , comfortable and hopefully wifi
Thanks again Rod. Elmar looks like a great place to stay while your looking for longer term ( 6 months or more ) accomdation in Bohol. I will definatly keep it in mind should i be able to get my act together for later this year.
You can just boil some hot water and scoop the H20 to bathe like the locals do. It’s right by the pier so a good value for temporary lodging, and they have karaoke - I’m sold.
Good video rod, that’s pretty cheap but I prefer a bit more luxury it all depends on your budget, I’ve been told that the price of hotels in say Thailand or Vietnam are way cheaper and better than Philippines, the Philippines has a lot to catch up to do, enjoyed watching 😉👍.
I prefer hot water as well boogieman. I have gone without a few times and it is often a little warm because of the temp of the pipes but sometimes it is uncomfortably cool.
I lived here in Elkhart, Kansas , once the temperature goes upward 80 degrees no need to use hot water . Although it’s a personal preference but a hot and humid climate like Philippines cold water showers is very refreshing just like eating halo-halo at midday.
Would you say that Bohol was the most relaxing trip you've taken in the P.I. ? Looks like a good option to just roam around at your own pace without spending a lot of money and enjoying a little fresh air and elbow room by comparison to the city.
Bohol was a fun trip Barney and we could have easily spent another week there. I have a new appreciation for Bohol and there are several larger towns with most of what one would want and need also.
I have gone without hot water several times Bob. I found that it is often a little warm because of the weather but may cool a bit after a few cloudy days.
The pale is often used here instead of a shower head Gary. They fill up a cup or scoop and pour the water over themselves, soap up and rinse the same way, so many places have these in the shower area. They also may splash their bottom instead of using toilet paper.
Mate i like to watch your vids, But you really need to be more consiense of camera movement,, too fast and/ or too close it can make some people , like me a little woozy, slow it down please.. Eddie Jagna Sydney
32,000 for rent for a 1 bedroom or larger studio should work in several units. IT Park has Avida, Asia Premiere, and Calyx. Santoni's, Persimmon, Tancor 5 in the Mabolo area would be good options. Baseline and Horizon 101 near Mango Square area might work for you CarlosDanger. Good luck with your plans. I have done videos on all but Baseline.
"Secure" can be a pretty relative term. I have heard from expats that even with 2 layers of guards, one at the main gate and 1 at each elevator, girls they didn't want back in got in.
Glad that you can get out of the big city for time....Let your girl friend shower first, that way you will not be the one to discover the electrical short in hot water heater. :-))
@@regsragnarok I stayed in a Nipa Hut, complete with giant lizards, mosquitoes, coffee cans with fuel for lights. Pump your bucket of water and go to the outhouse and squat over a hole in the grounds. My Grandmother lived in one. Stayed there a couple of weeks. I know roughing it. I just didnt like the budget pension houses :)

You can save lots of money if you don't need a bit more comfort William.
So true. I am a living proof.
Got $0 from $400,000.00 401k and 43yrs of federal service because I did not hire a lawyer. So, again I have to live without nothing but me.

LOL. That sound dangerous on a couple of levels ricky. Glad to hear you survived it.
Those are great value Rod! Thanks for checking them out.

I think there is another 1 or more pension houses in town Daniel and that is often all you need, a bed and shower.
A lot of showers don't work but I got use to the initial shock of the hand jug, so refreshing after a day out.
A cool shower can feel good after being out in the heat Jack but otherwise they can be a little on the chilly side for me.

Very interesting Robert. I hadn't thought of that but it would work. I have had a few quite cool showers here.
They all are clean and it's a great value. Not bad at all
Much cheaper than the $50 dollar room we stayed in the night before Wayne so it is a good option.
Some of these little places are very cozy for a nite or two. Thanks Rod
After spending $50 at the last nice place I wanted to find more affordable options Dennis. I think there are more also.
very good price for travelers in pension.houses..cheap accommodation. great video mate...
After paying for a more expensive place in town I wanted to see what else was available Geoff so these are options.
Thanks for sharing your videos and that's my hometown and god bless you more more blessings to come.
Thanks for watching!

Or.......” if at first you don’t succeed try try a gun”
Very informative video thank you 😊
LOL. It can be a challenge at times when it is a new "tool" you haven't seen before.

If I only need a bed and shower this would work but if I wanted to relax a bit more I would also go for something a little bigger Derek
Wow Rod! That’s a good deal. For the Pension place.
I would stay there Keith. Clean and a hot shower.
Very nice Rod thanks for that good information
Decent places for the price Kriss.
Not too bad of a place. Thanks for the video.
I think there were a few other pension houses in town also James.
no one ever talks about this .but if you and your wife both have a pension you, can have the world.
With the right planning for retirement, you can enjoy much more than the average person John.
Looks like my kind of place 🤑
I don't spend much time in a room so a clean bed and shower works for me Jeff.
Rod very affordable looks very clean also I would stay there but I would have to have the hot water

Good point Samuel. I have enjoyed a few cool showers after being out.
I thought I was the only one who call bidet a ass washer LOL
LOL. It is functional Yuri.
This is starting get interested 😁
There are options if you search them out Christopher.

First time to see a flusher like that
That was a strange type of flusher but it worked.
Hi Gary from mn does a hamburger there at McDonald’s taste like burger in USA
I think it does taste about the same Gary. The first Burger King I had tasted a little different but since then I am not sure of much difference.
I never needed hot showers there Rod, our home did not have hot shower water, one gets accustomed to it? Thanks Rod.
I have gone without hot water several times Bob. I found that it is often a little warm because of the weather but may cool a bit after a few cloudy days.
stick my 2 story house for 100 bucks a month in liloan , cebu . aircon, cable water, highspeed wifi , hot water all included. pay separated is lights
I don't blame you Mark. I have been through Liloan a couple of times. The traffic can get a little heavy coming back into Cebu City during rush hour.
please always evaluating the hotel by
security
cleaning
front disk staff
comfortable bed
hot water
thanks for the nice videos
Good points Joker. These are generally quick visits that I make so I try to cover the basics but security would be important also.
and fire safety
What are the pales for in the shower

Thanks for watching Charles.
@@AmazingPhilippines1 yep yep.......
Good price
You can travel very cheaply if you look for these type of places Manuel.
Nice places, hopefully no pirates/unwelcome visitors come off the pier.
It seems like a safe place at this time fendermon.

Any recommendations on apartment rental in or near Cebu City? My monthly budget for rent only is 32,000 php. Thank You

Amazing Philippines thanks for the reply and your vids are very helpful. I am in Subic now but can’t find anything decent and secure here
"Secure" can be a pretty relative term. I have heard from expats that even with 2 layers of guards, one at the main gate and 1 at each elevator, girls they didn't want back in got in.
Amazing Philippines mistake to bring short time to your primary residence.
Jagna is not very touristy so I guess they cater to travellers stranded at the pier area or businessmen or backpackers
I think you are correct Ariel.
Glad that you can get out of the big city for time....Let your girl friend shower first, that way you will not be the one to discover the electrical short in hot water heater. :-))
LOL. I am glad they don't use the "suicide" units with the electrical heating element in the shower head Michael.
Shower with Puzzle :-)
LOL. Life can be a challenge.
That's El Cheapo.
I have found a few of these cheap places in my travels John. Some are pretty clean and inviting and others not so much.
750 a day?
That was a couple of years ago Jayter so not sure the current price.
yeah tv seems to be all u care about oh yes and hot water haha
ill take the $7 room ,if the karaoki bothers me then ill evacuate in the middle of the nite ,bye bye $7 room
LOL. It is a pretty cheap price if you don't mind using the shared CR which we all use regularly when not at home Ruby.
@@AmazingPhilippines1 it looks like not a very busy house so most times you used the shared CR all by yourself
oh crab stop whining do like filipinos and use the bucket lol
LOL. I have use the bucket and cold water on several occasions Joe but still prefer a warm shower.
I use the bucket for baths when in Phillppines.😆
😝 yuck! to both places
Thanks for watching Greg. These are typical low cost options in the Philippines.
If you don't like the place, we have private resort called Banwa Private Island it cost $100,000 a night. In US dollars
