    The $195 technicians fee for them to learn how to perform their job should NEVER be a cost paid for by the customer. I would have fought that fee. I learned this by watching a YAA video on RUclips.

      when GM has the benefit of putting out a Hummer dealership and every part of the country, I really feel it's on them to figure out how to get them properly trained. trained. I'm not for you to have to subsidize whether they're staff. anywhere you go in the country is probably trained to help you do this. you should definitely fight that. fee

      While I agree with you, we pay "professional fees" all the time. When you hire a lawyer, for example, part of your payment goes to pay off his or her student loan debt and any other professional classes taken. I *would* prefer they instead increase the price of everything slightly and not actually put a line item stating that you're paying for them to learn how to do it as well!!! 😂

    I can't believe the dealership charged you to call the GM techline so they could figure out how to perform factory approved service/upgrades on the vehicle. That's on them if they don't know. I wouldn't have paid the $195.00. Did they want ya to pay the mechanic's tech school tuition too?

      I don't know if this is relevant, but I come from electric RC airplanes. When you overprop a motor it will try to spin the motor up to RPM come hell or high water. If that means pulling so much juice that it fries your speed controller, electronics that control your motor, that's what its going to do. Bigger prop means its going to draw more current, might be bigger tires means that the motor on your hummer is going to draw more current then the engineers planned.

      @@jeffk464 I'm sure you're right, but that doesn't mean the dealership should pass that techline fee onto the customer. Especially since it's advertised as being capable from factory to do it. Now that the dealership knows how to do it, they don't need to call the techline anymore to do the service. Essentially TFL paid for the mechanics continuing education

    Those look so much better for the size of the truck. They need to have those as an option right from the dealer so you aren't having to pay for them to learn how to code.

    $40 a sensor for TPMS is pretty cheap for dealer cost, but they could have moved the original ones to the new wheels.

      bolt in ones can, some are attached to the rubber schraeder valves and have to be replaced when the valve is replaced. it depends which type yopu have

      @@justintarvid Some makes and models will auto learn sensors. They just need to be the correct frequency and be compatible. Simply drive and the vehicle will learn the sensors in a few miles.

    When I got my Ridge Grapplers this past summer they were over $400 a piece. Multiply that by five tires, add tax and mount and balance... ouch.

    Those BFG Mud terrains looks really good, but will be slick on wet/icy/snowy roads since they don't have any sipes. Might be a cool video to show how siping is done and have the new tires siped! You could do a before and after performance test on wet//icy/snow roads to show the difference.

    Wait... So because the dealership wasn't properly trained and had to call Techline, they charged you for that? That's BS. I was a Nissan Master Tech for 4 years and NEVER charged any customers for having to call my tech support. I even had engineers come to the dealership and look at cars without charging the customer. As the dealer tech, it's MY responsibility to know the product I'm working on. If I need to be educated, that's at my (the dealership's) expense.

    I work at a Ford dealership in Southern California. I'm the tech who would perform that type of programming. Normally, I would charge a flat $210.00 programming fee. I can contact Ford technical line anytime for no charge to me or the customer. The interesting issue is, most late model Fords and other car/truck manufactures will no longer allow reprogramming the ABS computer for a larger tire size. This is because it can negatively affect emissions since EPA measures emissions in grams per mile.

    Great video! Could you guys do a decibel comparison from the factory tires to the new 37s? Stands to reason with that tread pattern, the new tires are making more noise than the old ones, but how much would be interesting to know. Thanks!

      MTs are good for deep snow but light snow and rain are definite weaknesses. I chose Ridge Grapplers because they're basically a super aggressive AT tire. Not quite 3 peak mountain snow rated but have a good amount of sipping for snow and rain.

    Wheel and tyres look great but I would have thought that all terrains with the 3peak rating would have been better for your needs and possibly be better on range than the M/T's will be interesting to see what effect they have on the range over the 35 stock tyres.

    What is the app you are using to measure speed and altitude? I have 37’s on my 2017 Ford F250 Black Ops Edition, but I’m wondering how accurate my speedometer is reading with the bigger tires.

    the next day... wow, I had 37's on my H2 in about 30 minutes including the spare. only gain a little over 1" in ride height with 37's but they look better.

    Im surprised the rails for the spare, arent mounted towards the back, and have some sort of a slider mechanism... I mean if you're already taking up half th ebed with the frame, why not have it go the long way...
    Also 37s just give you an inch lift... not sure it's worth the 5K+ price tag

    Looks good! If your worried about cost why did you change the wheels? Tires would be the same for any vehicle. Can other vehicles even be recalibrated to correct for tire size?

      Calibrating for the correct size tires can be done for any vehicle. It may require a dealer to do the reprogram.

      Rhe original wheels cost more to replace if damaged. When they sell the hummer back they'll have non scratched up original equipment. So they don't have to worry about them when they go off road. 1 is already scratched

      because this vehicle has Ride adjustable air suspension. and crap walk and so many other adjustments that the computer would need to know. when I suggesting the height I think that it probably would have to be calibrated if there's going to be new wheels and tires

      Leaving it fully raised leaves essentially no travel in the suspension. So at max extract mode the ride is super stiff.

    $195 to call GM and ask a question?
    Is that the dealer ripping you off or is that reflective of GM charging their own dealers for tech support?
    Not a good look either way, and makes me think that buying a GM product in its first 2-3 years of product cycle could be a very expensive mistake.

    You would think GM would have waived the Tech fee. HAHA. & those wheels are pricey. Considering BFG took care of you, GM should have as well. Great review!, especially on something that very very few will ever own or drive. Looking forward to the next review from you all

      The spare tire carrier can fit a 37" tire. It was designed that way, just like the truck.

    wish i could see a side by side comparison...i am watching this video and looking at my hummer ev outside and i am not seeing the "oh my gosh i need to get 37s", when they need to replaced. I certainly like the idea of a bigger tire, i just can't get that wow factor. Rims are sweet.

      Well they went from 35 to 37 so I’m going to go out on a limb and say it went up 1 inch. They didn’t do a lift.

      @@pryme2013 Recalibrating the suspension to keep from bottoming out on the wheel probably added close to another inch...to the minimum height. Basically, they gained an inch of lift at the top and lost two inches of drop at the bottom.

    Just think after a year or two how much that compressor is gonna have to work. Living in Montana and working in the Auto Parts industry, I see a lot of failed compressors during the winter due to the compressor getting hot then creating condensation inside and then that freezes. Then they fail in the summer due to the hot weather. I wish they would go back to the shock and strut. Air on an every day driver is just asking for failure.

    I don't think it's fair to pass on the technician fee, and maybe also the reprogram fee.
    It does look good through. Should have weighed one wheel+tire before mounting

      @@fastfreeks I understand what is a fair cost to relay to the customer. Calling the help line to service a product from the same manufacturer should not be a customer cost to bare. Should the dealership be compensated for that time, the manufacturer should reimburse, similar to recalls

      @@andrewsbbq If you think that's bad imagine being a technician and having to supply your own tools generally have to be grade A tools as well (name brand). Techs don't get paid very much and the business doesn't supply tools (maybe some specialty tools) but the tech has to have 50k in tools to even apply for a job at most shops, some of the toolboxes cost 30k+. I would still like to see a sit down with a dealership and an independent shop as well as a couple techs and get their side of the story. They also got $2,500 in credit from GM so the dealer probably didn't get any money from the wheels or maybe they did. Manufactures don't work as closely with dealers as one might assume. Also some of the software/hardware that shops have to purchase can be in the thousands.

    Those are a good looking wheel. They look much better than the stock wheels. And I think the 37’s are a good look proportionally with the style, size and shape of the Hummer. Looks like a good fit.
    But. Dang, those are huge tires and wheels!

    cool. One of the 1,000,000 advantages of a 4x4 EV is not needing a $4,000 differential (front / rear) re-gear to keep your power RPM speed with bigger tires. Also cool you don’t need to have lockers . Also cool no fumbling with 2H / 4H / 4L t case like a caveman.

    so basically its a $5k upgrade to get a couple of more inches of ground clearance. I think my last rough country wrangler 1.75" lift cost me $179 and a few hours of labor.

      It's not a couple inches though. They went from 35 to 37s. Only 1 in of that is below the axle the other is above the axle not adding any kind of lift.

      @@USUG0 exactly. Check how much is spent to charge it on a supercharger, it efficiency, plus other expendable items as tires ans suspension part. Add in the more complexity to service and repair.

      @@RogerM88 A 2022 hummer V8 would cost as much as the EV in any aspect (the new ford raptor is priced well above 100k). With the difference that it gets 30-50mpge vs 10-15mpg of the V8. And thus, probably cheaper to recharge on fastchargers than refueling the V8. Surely much cheaper, if you do it at home.

      @@USUG0 don't use mpge. Use miles per KWH. Hummer EV gets 1.5m per kwh. So to go 100 miles it uses 66Kw. Prices vary but right now we are looking at around 32 cents per kwh. That gives you $21 to go 100 miles. If it were gas getting 20mpg, we would have to be over $4 a gallon. This thing is the biggest gas guzzler of the EV world.

    I remember watching a Model S drag race channel that would put taller rims / tires to improve their 1/4 mile time. I would assume the same would apply here.

      It's the opposite actually. Smaller overall diameter increases acceleration and decreases top speed.

      @@aussie2uGA Yes, from a total gear ratio standpoint of course. I think it had to do with the fact that the electric motors have so much torque they can't effectively put all of it down off the line so they increase tire and wheel height to gain traction off the start and top speed at the finish line.

    You swapped out 4 tires, with 37's, but you left the spare tire OEM rim! You should've swapped that out in the bed tire as well. Looks odd. Great channels.

    It cost just as much as any other car to put tires on. You just wanted new wheels which required new sensors and if you didn't want to pay for the recalibration all you had to do was read the owners manual it tells you how to " recalibrate " the system the bigger tires size in the settings on the center display.

    BFGoodrich are always smaller then they say. That “37” is more of a 35.5”. Go with TOYO or NITTO if you want a true 37”

    I’m surprised that they didn’t or don’t have a fix for the air compressor. That price tag ~5.5k to off-road in that type of car seems totally unacceptable especially since it’s not a cheap car

    Those bfg’s are $600 per tire. I definitely wish they were $400. So just add another mellow 3k for tires.

    Load Range E means nothing. Use the number rating. I have seen E from 117 up to 126. The ones you got are load rating 123. There is a better one with load rating 128. I only run the 126 or greater on my Ram 2500. I tow heavy with mine. And that is something you cannot do.
