i played this a bunch. not my favorite, never beat it. But could do Rastan with one quarter. a similar but slightly better game imo. Black Tigert isnt terrible. its solid But watch this and then go watch a full playthrough of Rastan. The music will have you boppin...

That's actually how I found out about _Ready Player One_ : I told a coworker that I missed playing Black Tiger, and that it was never ported to console, so he told me about _Ready Player One_ and Capcom Classics. Now I just emulate it, but don't tell anyone ;-)

I remember playing this game for free on my 360, it had some restrictions, but the full game was all there. It's so good I still remember it and the score... Just awesome!
1:40 he is a merchant and got petrified in a dungeon, in a place not so easy to reach... he got rescued by a hero, saying "thank you, i am in debt to you!". he has a flame flail and a demon eye armor at hand, but instead of giving it to the hero, wishing his best luck, he "maybe" can sell him something. 🤑 such a nice person.
The music by Tamasan (Tamayo Kawamoto) is something special for an 80's game. The ending fanfare changes key 4 times and the main theme has variations throughout the game:
You don't hear too much whole-tone stuff , and various chunks sound like they were influenced by Thelonious Monk. I'd love to work up an arrangement of this for a jam session.
Loved this game and shoved alot of quarters into it playing doubles with my friend. Was the first arcade game we actually finished. I downloaded it onto my phone a couple weeks ago and am once again addicted to it.

Excellent port that even features music & sound effects simultaneously in-game, something that most AMIGA games did not back in the day as the AMIGA was not known for its sound mixing capabilities!

Hey I was listening to the Ready player one audiobook and this was mentioned. Wanted to see what it was. It’s uncommon for me to not know what an arcade game is.
Man... the beginning of this music sounds so much like Thelonious Monk's "Epistrophy." Between that and the whole-tone sounds, this really has that Monk feel to it. Edit: there's a lot more to it than Monk--I hear strains of Bach, Ravel, funk, etc. All using the same underlying melodic theme. The main theme is really a masterclass in theme and variation.

2 days ago, I went to see my friend at his antique shop and he had an old The New Eagle magazine from 1990 featuring a comic strip called Black Tiger: A Computer Warrior Story and I'm surprised to discover Black Tiger was a computer game.
It does, there is a trick to it. You have to move stick to right and after hitting jump, simultaneously move stick up but dragging it like, right, top+right and then top. I hope it makes sense! I could do this in my sleep :P
What is the pit-traps in the first levels supposed to be?? Some kind of meat-eating plant with spikes just wating for some poor soul to fall to his death? Could someone plz explain? Thx.

I'm 19 mins into the gameplay and honestly its very average. I used to be the best in this game in our area. Its been probably 32 years since I played this game and I still remember all the hidden bonuses and he missed couple already!

The potions protect you against poison, some enemies (tbh I can't remember which ones) poison you which means that in addition to taking damage you lose the dagger throwing part of your weapon
I spent hours on this game: would sit there an just kill the skeletons on each level to try to get the highest score or getting 999,990 didn't necessarily mean you would finish the game.
Right, I can't figure out the purpose. He seems to lose one when hit by magic, or flames, but he still loses vitality, so what good is the potion for? My only thought was maybe you die instantly if you don't have one?
If Castlevania can turn the Vampire Killer into a Combat Cross... Imagine what Capcom can do with the hero's weapons... I mean look at what the Devil May Cry and Monster Hunter franchises have pulled off
@@MegaManXPoweredUp Yep, it makes the game overs much more punishing than they seem at a glance. You lose your score, effectively losing all your experience points towards gaining additional health bars.
Strangely enough this American version was released before Black Dragon, despite being developed by Capcom. Black Dragon even fixed a few of original American version's bugs (mostly graphical glitches in the background tiles). Its also much more difficult. The American version was pretty merciful for an arcade game of any region.

It's tied to how many Points you earn. More Points means more Health.
@@MegaManXPoweredUp Yep, it makes the game overs much more punishing than they seem at a glance. You lose your score, effectively losing all your experience points towards gaining additional health bars.

Strangely enough this American version was released before Black Dragon, despite being developed by Capcom. Black Dragon even fixed a few of original American version's bugs (mostly graphical glitches in the background tiles). Its also much more difficult. The American version was pretty merciful for an arcade game of any region.
