US and British troops stationed in Afghanistan celebrated a Christmas lunch provided by the German government followed by a game of American football.
Christmas was celebrated by around 50 members of the US armed forces and 10 British Royal Marines at the airbase in Bagram, 40 kilometres (25 miles) north of the capital, Kabul.
The British Royal Marines celebrating lunch were stationed in Afghanistan before their compatriots arrived last Thursday.
Fifty-three British Royal Marines landed at Bagram airport, near Kabul last Thursday, to spearhead a 1,500-strong British contingent of the new UK-led international peacekeeping force.
Around 100 Royal Marines are already in the country to lead a force that will eventually number 3,000 to 5,000.
The multinational force will be under overall US military authority, with the promise of American assistance in an emergency.

Great Britain and America have one of the greatest relationships between two countries, they are much more than just allies

The U.K. And USA should join forces and be brothers in arms for every conflict the world will throw at them. Together, just like the end of ww2 we can win and fight together. We should build better ties with our American cousins rather than our European neighbours, fammily is stronger.

There is a strange father/son big brother/little brother relationship between the U.S and U.K. we fight about stupid shit but in the end we're brothers and sisters from across the pond I am for one yank who loves my brothers and sisters across the pond cheers from America
The UK and US are family. The CANZUK counties are just extensions of the UK culturally.
The only reason we have fought with the US so much up until the 2000s is because they’re the ones we always rivalled and competed with, we treated the Americans like the french, sort of family but a dangerous competing rival.
Unfortunately this will never change. No compromises are ever going to be possible as long as these 2 countries don’t collapse.
The USA will never join the commonwealth or any agreement where Britain is considered the leader.
Britain will never join or co-operate with any American intervention adventure unless Britain gains something in return, in order not to look like a “2nd rate power”.
As long as five eyes exists our friendship is safe.
Despite our falling outs, when no disagreements are involved Britain and America have proven to be shining beacons of democracy, freedom and progress.

Much respect and appreciation for the Brits..(that one friend who is so close that you get on each other's nerves, you argue and bicker like family..but that is always the first one there to 'have your back'!) I notice strange things; like the Brits.. when eating any food that requires a knife, will always keep a knife in one hand and a fork in the other, turned inwards. Most of us are less efficient, only picking up the knife to cut food, then retiring it and not keeping it 'at the ready' :) What the Brits do makes more sense! And cheers to those Brits here..I'm sure they would rather be with their mates and be having traditional British Christmas fare!
