    ...And remember: keep your mouth shut. The easiest way to get caught doing anything is by telling someone you've done it.

    TL;DR: If it's not your network to mess with, don't mess with it.
    If you're using your own home network, I think you should be able to have a say in which devices access it or not. If someone has gained access to your wifi network, and you don't want them to access it, you should have a right to disconnect them. Same goes with disconnecting your own devices from the wifi network. I can't see how they could constitutionally make that illegal.
    And even if it were to become illegal to disconnect yourself from your own network in the future, there would be no way for the them to find out unless you reported yourself, unless they were promiscuously sniffing your home wifi packets, in which case with them being a government agency you might probably have a stronger case against them than they against you.

    It has been illegal in Ireland to use apparatus to interfere with wireless signals since 1926..

    As the majority of legislation covered here falls under U.S regulations, I thought I'd throw my two pence in for the U.K law.
    To perform an unauthorised WiFi deauthentication attack is an offence under s.3 of the Computer Misuse Act 1990. The reason it falls under s.3 is due to subsections (2)(a) and (2)(b):
    (2)(a) states that it is an offence if the individual "impair[s] the operation of any computer", such as enabling it to function correctly by deauthenticating the device.
    (2)(b) states it is also an offence if you "prevent or hinder access to any program or data held in any computer". This would be impairing access to the internet deliberately, thus preventing access.

  • @JosephsStuff
    @JosephsStuff 7 лет назад +3

    IMO it would be better for this to stay a grey area, as if you are caught and brought to trial you could argue that the specific rules about deauth attacks are only in place for corporations, an thus wouldn't apply to you.

  • @okageking2433

    I'm not a black hat, but here's my opinion.
    The FCC are not going to be on board with the personal use of wi-fi deauthers. However, because of the lack of documentation regarding the personal use, then as we stand, there may be a loophole where we can get away with using deauthers on individuals, without to much of a legal consequence. However, the moment that a larger scale attack happens on a personal network, and it becomes enough of a threat for people to worry about, the FCC will issue documentation prohibiting the use of deauthers similar to that of jammers.

  • @Dylankatz
    @Dylankatz 7 лет назад +1

    Then, of course, the CFAA (Computer Fraud and Abuse Act) destroys basically anything like that. It's completely illegal to use anyone else's devices in a way they don't want you to. The laws are pretty close to that vague.

  • @RichBeaden
    @RichBeaden 7 лет назад +1

    In the EU its covered by the Computer Misuse Act, or atleast in the UK.

    • @methanoid
      @methanoid 7 лет назад

      Rich Beaden you reckon? Try the wireless telegraphy act. Ofcom is the responsible body.

    • @lmaoroflcopter
      @lmaoroflcopter 7 лет назад +2

      Meth Methanoid only from the perspective of RF interference. Actual deauthentication attacks are covered by the computer misuse act.

  • @lmaoroflcopter
    @lmaoroflcopter 7 лет назад

    So the UK does indeed have laws on this subject.
    1 from the perspective of interference the wireless telegraphy act.
    2 from the perspective of deauthentication attacks see the computer misuse act and the extensions to it that came bundled with the police and criminal justice act.
    That said I've seen Cisco gear (and probably others also) have the capability of using deauth attacks to actively defend against evil twin attacks being performed against your network.
    AP broadcasting your SSID without being registered as "allowed" on your network. Cisco kit can actively run deauthentication attacks against any clients that connect to that network.

    • @namedguy292
      @namedguy292 6 лет назад

      Cain Null It’s not taken down it’s an IP address, can’t take down Internet address IP’s. Make sure your node mcu is plugged in with power, connected to “pwned” or whatever you set it as and retry. If it doesn’t load then, your deauther isn’t programmed correctly.

    In the UK, it is illegal to "access computer material" without the owner's permission. This could cause deauthers to be illegal because they would communicate with a device and therefore tell it to disconnect from a WiFi network. This could get you up to five years in prison (per offence).

    Is malduino a project made by you? If yes, can you pls make a usb case, like the rubber ducky one or classic transcend ones. Malduino elite is way better than rubber ducky because it has the switch so u can switch between 16 programs. And secondly, can u make it to sell on Aliexpress? Or another way so it can be shipped to Moldova?

    • @jessev9686
      @jessev9686 7 лет назад

      just cover it with epoxy or sugru or hot glue. the benefit of epoxy is that it is pretty hard, and you can grind it to whatever shape you want, whereas sugru is more flexible and more easily removed (as in, it can be removed at all vs epoxy which is nearly impossible to remove) as it's less adhesive than expoxy or hot glue. hot glue is the cheapest and most readily available option but it's messy and annoying to remove.

    4:30 if you use your brain...then you get the answear...ofc you can not legally deautch other than your self maybe. Pentesters may be an exception because it is their job and they "normally" are hired and signs a contract first.

    They are legal to use yourself to block hackers from your own wifi networks, but to use them on other people's wifi is illegal and falls under "hacking."
