But no, he goes "only if you'll marry me too" and at first I was like "ok, that's really sweet but such an odd way to respond, but whatever, it's Alec" and now that I had time to rewatch the scene like a dozen times I notice that Magnus expression changed a little after he heard that, like the words hit him unexpectedly and what I think now it's that Alec knew this was something Magnus NEEDED to hear so he said to make it as clear as possible; I mean, he's centuries old and this is the first time in his long life he loves someone so much he wants to marry him, he also didn't think he was worth it (we know about Magnus insecurities), that anybody could ever love him that much, and even though Maryse told Magnus about Alec's plan, I think it meant a lot to him that Alec himself told him he wanted to marry him, that despite the obstacles, the drama, he wants to spend the rest of his life with him as much as he wants to spend the rest of his immortal life loving his archer boy. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why these two are the definition of soulmates. Thank you for coming to my ted talk, now if you'll excuse me, I need to go find a dress for the wedding.
@@echovalentine6206 that's exactly what I love about this characters and the reason why I'm so invested in their relationship. There's so much depth in their dynamics... It's not like regular couples in shows where they say and do exactly what they want you to notice, and don't get me wrong, that's not bad but... Malec, oh boy, Malec is all about the details! How they can literally have conversations with just stares, how they are so in tune with each other's feelings and struggles and they show genuine interest; even when the rest of the world seems to be oblivious to their problems, they always have each other's back. They did a great job writing these two, and the casting was a match made in heaven, 'cause Matt and Harry's chemistry is mind blowing.
This scene finally shows why Magnus is the hero of the whole series. At the end of the day he saved that world. Through all seasons he did SO MUCH for others, unfortunately putting himself on the second place. Lost his powers twice, lost his apartment, lived in Institute feeling like a burden, was in coma, got back to his worst nightmare (Edom). Saved Alec, saved Clary, saved Jace. Couple of times. He forgave Maryse, he took care of Madzie, he refused to get all the goods to live the way he believes is right. He has done so much for Alec. Sacrificed so much. He’s selfless, never wanted anything in return for the things he’s done. He was doing all of those in complete silence being unnoticed. Never wanted attention for that saying "it’s nothing". He was hiding his worries and fears because he didn’t want to burden other people. He preferred to suffer alone. If he promise something he’ll do it. He never let anybody down. He’s pure gold. Now he needs to rest and for just a moment be loved and feel that someone is finally taking care of HIM and he can focus on his own needs. What I also love about this scene is Alec. Like he finally saw how amazing Magnus is and how much he can do for their love. In previous episodes I felt like he didn’t really appreciate Magnus. But seeing him kneeling on the ground with tears in his eyes makes me think that he has already understood how much he loves Magnus and I could tell how painful it was for Alec to loose love of his live AGAIN. Dear Angel, just let them finally be together... with no interruptions. I think the others should also appreciate Magnus’ help a little bit more. Magnus was actually the only warlock helping them and if he didn’t the shadow world would be probably completely destroyed by now and so many people including Jace and Clary would be definitely dead. Magnus is a definition of a "decent person" to me. He did all these things instead of just being selfish - he might as well refuse doing anything that would cost him this much. And that would be totally okay. But well, he didn’t. He’s a very underestimated character, and he’s 1000 times better than the leading ones of this show. Brave, committed, funny, reasonable. Alec’s so lucky to have him. Also, Harry’s acting is incredible.
Alec said to Magnus that “ it’s only edom You always come back” but then Magnus replies with “Never thought I would be a runaway groom” and Alec JUST SHAKES HIS HEAD BECAUSE HE KNOWS HIS HUSBAND WILL COME BACK (1:18)
Why on Earth did they cancel it? How does a person decide to do such a horrible thing and still be able to live with themselves afterward? UGH I NEED MORE MALEC!!!

It’s because of Izzy they have a relationship, she is the one who invited Magnus to Alec’s wedding, which he gate crashed and the rest is history, if not for that little push Alec would have gone through with that wedding and there may never have been a Malec at all. So thank you Izzy you gave us the most epic love story ever!

All the parallels in that single exchange before Magnus portals away. Alec trying to be as strong as he's always been, but not being able to control his emotion this time around. Watching magic heal the rift, knowing that it's Magnus. And the song. The SONG wrapping the whole scene together perfectly. I'll cry over this scene forever. Like...wow.
Ok but like the reason why this scene is so effective and emotional is that Alec NEVER cries, the only time Alec cries are like 3 times in the entire series. But it isn’t as effective when jace or clary cries because let’s be honest they cry at least twice an episode, but even in the most painful situations Alec does not cry! The only time Alec is ever happy is with magus and so to see that emotional side of Alec makes this scene all the more emotional 😭
Alec cried almost all for Magnus! Yes, i agree!! He always shows his cold or arrogant or nervous side as well as leadership and caring attitude towards his family and every situation, but in times of danger with his parabatai or others, he lost his mind. However with Magnus, he cried and felt lost and pain more than ever. Well, I appreciate this so much

In my opinion this scene is even more powerful without a kiss, it's more emotional. They don't have their final goodbye, we don't have it so it crushes our hearts so much more. And even if I don't like this feeling, I think that was necessary to make us totally heartbroken 😞

Do you ever just cry because you're so happy for someone (even if they're fictional)? Like. Alec season one was miserable. He was made to believe that he would never be able to pursue love and happiness because of his sexuality. He locked it up as tight as he could for fear of not being accepted. Of losing his institute and the respect of the other Shadowhunters. And Magnus. Magnus was so certain that he was unlovable. That the people he put his heart and soul into could see something within him not worth sticking around for. He closed his heart off for so long he didn't know that he could feel love again. And then these two met and open worlds for each other. And I'm just so happy.
Just when Magnus shows Alec the rings he starts to whimper a little. The way he doesn't really cries but only whimpers shows how much pain he is feeling right now because he is happy and hurt both at the same time..they are true soulmates..🥰😘😍 On the other hand seeing them not getting the goodbye kiss hurts..😥😥

this scene aside from the wedding is my fav. the love that is shown through out the series is nothing like in these two scenes. I look at their eyes when they are asking each other and the love that I see there , is only something that I can dream of. I wish that I had come out earlier and was able to find someone to love this much. I cry every time I wath this and the wedding. LOVE is LOVE and I understand this is fiction but these two wonderful gentlemen make is look so realistic. The amount of pain Alec must have felt at that moment 1:56. Watching his entire life being ripped apart by watching not only Idris being destroyed, but having the love of his life, go away to stop it. This scene always got me. I remember cheering happily and crying when this aired because the amount of raw emotions they all put into this 🥺

Me too. See how loving and healthy their relationship is make me realized how amazing representation really is possible. Malec was the first time I had seen representation this good especially of a bisexual character in the genre of fantasy. It was a turning point for me, realizing that good representation can exist in the things I love. Also that fighting to have good representation isn't just an endless battle. Their relationship brought me so much hope for the future
The way they both need to propose to each other because this is a partnership and they are equals. The way Alec turns his head in fear when they go in for a kiss and the explosion goes off and he knows what the love of his life is about to do and the way he says “it’s just Edom” cause even going to Hell will not stop Malec from being together no matter what you throw at them ❤😭

One of the most beautiful gay couples done in media. Absolutely no stereotypes, mixed race, equal playing ground between the two of them, had their fights but always talked it out and made up, and knew when to take a break so they could rebuild what they had to start over. Perfection.
Every time I listen to this song, I become a mess. It is really up there with "War of Hearts", "Where Do We Go from Here" and "Where's My Love" when it comes to songs that instantly make me emotional. I just see those scenes in front of me, you know. The lyrics are so beautiful and I am kinda glad it was not the bgm for the Malec wedding because I wouldn't be able to cope with my emotions. 3B really delivered when it came to Malec, I am happy the series goes out with a bang but I'll miss them so much. They made these last 2 years that I've spent with them, bearable.

I gotta say. For a small show, this scene is so well done, the writing, music, acting... I could go on and on. It started out a little rocky, the pilot wasn't all that good, but the arc that Alec and Magnus has is so heart warming. Makes me want to watch the show all over again.

this scene aside from the wedding is my fav. the love that is shown through out the series is nothing like in these two scenes. I look at their eyes when they are asking each other and the love that I see there , is only something that I can dream of. I wish that I had come out earlier and was able to find someone to love this much. I cry every time I wath this and the wedding. LOVE is LOVE and I understand this is fiction but these two wonderful gentlemen make is look so realistic. Me too. See how loving and healthy their relationship is make me realized how amazing representation really is possible. Malec was the first time I had seen representation this good especially of a bisexual character in the genre of fantasy. It was a turning point for me, realizing that good representation can exist in the things I love. Also that fighting to have good representation isn't just an endless battle. Their relationship brought me so much hope for the future

It is really up there with "War of Hearts", "Where Do We Go from Here" and "Where's My Love" when it comes to songs that instantly make me emotional. I just see those scenes in front of me, you know. The lyrics are so beautiful and I am kinda glad it was not the bgm for the Malec wedding because I wouldn't be able to cope with my emotions.
