The Great Escape 2 has been released several times over the years in the UK. Originally on rental VHS with each part on separate tapes. Then eventually sell through video and eventually DVD. Don't think it's ever been on Blu-ray. It's also had several UK TV showings over the years on different channels. Part one is essentially a retelling of the same story from the movie, with part 2 being set after the war and seeing the Nazi's hunted down.
Hi, just came across your channel really looking forward to this. I have the US Kino Lorber release in 4K and it does look good but there are grainy and soft spots but the big thing there was no HDR or Dolby Vision on the Kino release. so I can’t wait to compare them I’m sure the Dolby Vision version will win out as it almost always does. as far as the great escape 2 goes it definitely had a VHS release and at the very least a German DVD release and probably a US released but I’m not sure about that. I have no doubt that part 2 looks as good as it does as this was shot on film not videotape for a TV miniseries here in the US. also, as standard practice, a 16 mm copy is made from the film and that is what used to make tape for TV stations to air it and probably the VHS and even possibly the DVD was made from the 16 mm copy so the actual film is been basically untouched since 1988 and I’m guessing the 4K was scanned from that so it should look really good. At least I’m pretty sure that’s the case. Enjoy your contact. Have a great one.
@ German version, probably the best version I have seen , bitrates were hitting 250-300 per second. There are some reviews on RUclips. Still waiting for my Arrow version.
The slipcover over the hard box appears to be Arrow's new way. This began with 'The Warriors' and 'Conan' sets. Using the same artwork on each is, in my opinion, a wasted opportunity and boring. I make and show my own custom sleeves and slipcovers and never repeat he same imagery twice.
Hey just came across your channel. This looks like a really good set, might be picking this one up. Thanks for uploading this video!

Were you referring to the day for night scenes (shot during the day to stand in for night)?

This movie is grainy and somewhat soft in many scenes. No resolution upgrade is going to change that. Nice review.
thank you, and thanks for stopping by and taking time to comment😁
Sounds like Arrow has done anything decent transfer. Remember, the DVD not looking great. Good unboxing, mate
