    Hey Jack - you are definitely in my top 5 list of RUclips woodworkers!! Your bare bones projects are either very, very practical, or very, very creative! Always gives me a smile to get the email from RUclips when I see 'Jack Houweling' in the list.
    Thanks, again and again!

    Reminds me of watching Olympic gymnasts on the uneven parallel bars. 😁
    Jack, as an aside I just wanted to tell you how much I admire your perseverance despite the hand limitations which I imagine are often painful.

    looks great but it needs more weight because it stops too soon

    if you want the chaotic effect to be more impressive, try to put more mass away from the pivots point, it'll swing more :) great video

    And a light show included absolutely free!! Pressing those bearings into wood gave me a "John Heisz" flashback... lol

    Very clever. I just know that, in the future, you'll find a way to put a little motor and mechanism on that to keep it going.

    I've seen a pendulum like this long ago, and if I remember correctly. the smaller counter balance was weighted heavier on the end to supply more inertia to the main swing arm. Or, then again maybe to much chlorine in my water. :)
    Anyway, came out nice and looks great in the dark...

    Fun build! Would the pendulum swing more if the lower arm had more of its mass away from the pivot point?

      Yes, I did test with weights in different positions.

    Very cool Jack, love it. On a side note: Those 34 thumbs down...Why ? Can you do better ?
    I'd like to see RUclips implement something so that when a person clicks on the thumbs down icon they have to give an explanation as to why....

    That’s creative.... but, for safety sake, when cross-cutting on a table saw, use an offset block on the fence. Cutting tight to the fence invites a dangerous kickback.

    Man, great project, but use of a miter gauge and trapping stock against the fence is a HUGE no-no.

  • @dimitar4y
    @dimitar4y 6 лет назад +4

    Come on, jack, that's lazy. You should either hollow-out the wood pieces or counter-ballance those things to make it keep swinging chaotically for longer! If they're too heavy, they just go down to gravity, and are less fun to watch.
