3 years ago i would have cursed you for this statements, i identified as 100% gay. Then i met my same sex twin flame (i won't dive deeper into this topic). Part of the twin flame journey is bringing shadow parts of the soul to light. Since childhood i was kept low, victim mode, no confidence. What i thought was love all the time was just my hurt inner child looking for some type of leader person, someone to look up to. So i fell in love for stronger males i subconsciously thought could give me some shelter or direction in life.
After healing all this messed up parts of me, stepping into my own power, for the first time i was open to the opposite sex. I used to think i wasn't man enough for a woman.
Don't get me wrong i still like the same sex but it is not the same.
So many people today confuse love with a feeling of lack. Something they look for in the other person. To know what true love is you gotta learn to love yourself first.

Well , I had HOCD , I can tell you a way to overcome temptation, whenever you feel any sexual temptation, take a deep breath , and tell yourself, " My body is the body of christ , it's a temple of Holy spirit " , no matter what I will not let this temptation destroy my soul , I was redeemed through Christ's sacrifice at the cross , I will crucify my temptation" . Practice meditation on bible , it immensely helped me. I am a straight though.

To deny reality is to hurt yourself further. You can't control how you were born as. If a religion wants to change you, then it's not a good place for you to be at.

So u were not gay, u were bi. Not being open to having relations with the opposite sex is not the same as not being attracted to the opposite sex. Can you explain how u “healed” the messed up parts? Did you try to “convert” yourself from gay to straight? Or are you referring to being “confident” and not depending on others to give u shelter or direction in life? The latter is great, but that does not change orientation. Not all ppl are gay because they are inconfident and looking for a same sex person to be their “leader”. You cannot equate being gay with a series of negative personality traits like “lack of confidence”, “seeking a leader”, “victim mode” that u saw were messed up. Because anyone could’ve been like this regardless what their orientation was, and the solution to fixing this has nothing to do with changing your sexuality nor is the root cause always related to your sexuality. If we assume you were truly gay to begin with, is it really loving yourself to suppress yourself and consider what you were born with “evil” and “messed up”. I see lots of contradictions or plot holes in this testimony.

Youn are just fine as you are If you are wondering about the question of whether your sexuality is a sin or not, I welcome you to consider the following thoughts for clarification. Let’s look at some basic fundamental facts based on extensive research & ongoing R&D. During fetal development a verity of biochemical agents are introduced which determine the development of the fetus. Major agents such as testosterone & estrogen & a host of others agents determine size, weight, hair color, eye color & sexuality along with a host of other traits that make us who we are. Variations in the amount & timing of the introduction of these agents have a major effect in the development of the fetus The fetus is a passive participant & has no influence or say in these matters. Sexuality, for example, & all other secondary traits are thus given in us. Well, this begs the question, is homosexuality a sin. If your religion or belief system states that it is, then there can be no argument. These are the rules based on this system’ dogma. If you accept this system, you must accept the rules.
If however you are in a belief system based on logic, reason, observation & common sense, the conclusion is totally different. Replacing ancient religion & mythology with reason leads to another conclusion. There exist many variations of human sexual expression. When you leave various ancient religious beliefs behind & use knowledge based in research, you can see the true nature of humanity. You leave ignorance, hatred, & prejudice behind. In the book Gay Straight & the Reason Why by Simon Levay PhD explanations regarding this aspect of humanity are clearly explained & is based on research & not ancient text which had no benefit of understanding humanity. Being gay is no more of a choice than having red hair. They are both based on genetics & clearly not a sin. Peace

I didn’t even specifically pray for this I simply asked Jesus to heal my heart. And he did! Thanks be to God.
Previously I used to be predominantly attracted to the same sex. I even had a male lover etc.
But at this present time, I feel predominate attraction to the opposite sex in 99% of cases.
on the rare occasion I experience same sex attraction, but it’s not something that I find appealing; As God’s goodness is so much greater.

      1. Accept Jesus Christ as lord and savior with all your heart.
      2. Renounce and divorce the spirit of homosexuality. Do some spiritual warfare and chase the demon out in Jesus name.

I shouldn't engage... but, he's talking about different things and treating them the same. I've heard a lot straight christians say they have sinfilul sexual desires they need to fight as well. But it is not the same; desire for a woman who is not your wife, addiction or porn, sexually abusive fantasies (or realities), these sexual sins are different. I would agree that a deeper relationship with Christ may take someone further from those desires, but it will not change a sexual orientation. I believe that homosexuality (and to some extent gender dysphoria) are the result of the fall, but sexual orientatio is more about mechanics that morality. I think from the picture in Genesis sexuality is supposed to be heterosexual by default, yes. But because of sin, some peoples sexuality does not work that way. Just like some people are blind, or deaf, or have missing limbs. We would NEVER tell those people that their state of being is further from Gods origanal good design, and that they therefore need to deepen their relationship with God and he will bring them closer to original and good design and intention for them. We would never tell them that their state of being is further from God or what God wants for their lives than their able bodied siblings. Or imagine telling a Deaf person that they shouldn't even use that word to describe themself. It's cruel denialism/erasure. So no, while some people may find some level of fluidity in their sexuality, and bisexual people can supress or ignore one side, the vast majority of people do not experience a change in sexual orientation. Yes, a deeper relationship with Christ will always lead us further from sexual sin (what we do), but when we tell people something fundamental to their identity and how they experience the world (part of who they are) is imoral, that is a recipe for chrushing shame and dispair. Thank God I am no longer in that place. The church has for ages and will continue to discuss and debate what sexual actions are sin and what aren't, but the church needs to STOP dehumanizing and treating gay people like they are further from God and inherently imoral because of the way they experience sexuality. If being straight doesnt make you inherently more righteous, being gay cannot make you inherently more sinful. Treat people like the children of God they are.

It is not about being homosexual and becoming heterosexual. God loves you and meets you where you are. He gradually reveals Himself to the believer which draws us to a deeper repentance and faith in Him, so that it becomes easier to deny our passions. Some people mentioned Milo Yiannopoulos. He is a good example. He still has same sex attraction, but the Spirit has revealed the love of God in such a profound way that Milo has chosen the celibate life. A priest is another example. They still have sexual attraction but they, (most of them), remain faithful to their vow of celibacy.

Have you ever wondered why “Baal” worship was a thing in the Old Testament? It is because after the fall, the demons were thrown down to earth. But the story was told backwards by the Baal worshiping nations. In their story, Lucifer won and dethroned God, and became God- thus spreading the message that we humans can become Gods. The tactic was not only for us to believe this lie, but to stop worshipping the real God of heaven and earth.

As for homophobic people who just hate gay people just because they’re gay, they are in danger of the same fire, when they assume they are safe in their hatred. So you see, what I am doing and what the homophobic people are doing is much different. Does this mean that the only option, the only hope, for a gay person who can not be attracted to the opposite sex no matter what is to live as a celibate, and that as a celibate they have to resign themselves to be loners in a world that is sexualized and a Church that is all about families? And how is that a hopeful message.

human sexual or romantic attraction is observed to be dynamic and not static. "gay" and "straight" are reductionist cultural categories and not actual biological attributes. a person of the majority orientation from ancient sparta would be considered the minority orientation to a modern westerner due to their behavior, despite not having a different set of genetic traits
this question is as silly as asking if someone raised on bland occidental food can be "converted" to eating flavorful african or asian food. can't force preferences on people like that, it might come naturally though if they are curious and adventurous

It doesn't need to be a cross If you are wondering about the question of whether your sexuality is a sin or not, I welcome you to consider the following thoughts for clarification.
Peace

I remember it all. It… pulled out all of my pain, and replaced it with serenity, safety, and comfort. Something I needed so very much.
Do I miss those days? Of course I do! I’m feeling sad just by making this comment, but I realized that he was not a partner. He was more. There was no actual love. It was beyond love, or lust. I can’t describe it, but I knew it wasn’t meant to be. He wasn’t my partner, he was my hero. I felt like my world was empty, cold, and cruel when I was forced to leave him.
      I was alone.
Over the years, I was living a life of despair, but I eventually pulled through.
I was approached by a woman who had an infatuation with me for some reason. At first I was reluctant to engage in any conversation because I wasn’t prepared for it. I suddenly felt an overwhelming feeling. It forced me to respond in kind, and we kissed. It was amazing at first, but it was only sexual.
There was nothing there. It was just a physical response, nothing else.
I dont think I ever changed from homo to hetero. I learned that they are both worlds apart. Pain can bring people together.

@@user-pr1ql3zy6g from your reply, I'm guessing you're a young man. I've had to learn to calm down, knowing sexuality isn't everything. That's the first step I think...
But in regards to your sexuality, you have a very clear attraction that you do not decide to have. You only decide what to do with it.
In destructive relationships, you have to summon the courage to stand-up for yourself in the MOMENT; i.e. when you're being talked down to. By doing this the relationship will go in the natural course it is meant to go.
      But back to (homo) sexuality:
      - I don't think God would have made you the way you are except for a reason.
      - Half your battle is not against being gay, but against the oversexualized culture and for chastity. The Church believes true love is chaste (not to be confused with abstinent).
Your struggle is your own, and you will have to carry it. But keep calm, God LOVES you, Jesus LOVES you. Don't go chasing waterfalls. Life is good brother.

@@four-x-trading5606 but what kind of answer are you expecting from God ? You know God can answer you through a video, comment, person, a passing thought..etc. Being gay is one thing and acting upon it is another one.
In all those years of you "asking God" to help you and show you the right way, did you make a little effort to understand God and this world/life he gave us?
We're here temporarily as a test. God made limitations to our actions wisely, coz if everything was permissible there'd be no test or reward/punishment. This world filled with crimes and tragedies would be our heaven since only in heaven everything you wish for is permissible. Would you like that? Add to it, God made the forbidden things harmful too, so that we not only follow his orders blindly but also get convinced with reason. Like drinking harms the liver and smoking damages the lungs,, r@pe, theft, murder, etc all harm others hugely. Same with being gay, same sex relationships have the most rates of life-threatening STDs spread among them. Can't this be God's answer ? You said you were asking God to show you why it's wrong- well, not long ago, the Monkeypox spread and it's well-known that it targeted mostly same-sex partners, didn't you think may be God was answering you and showing you something? Perhaps, God has been answering you through all those years but you're just not paying attention?
There're ppl who love their parents or siblings romantically, should they also act upon this coz they don't understand why this is considered a sin? We all have to sacrifice some of our desires in this temporarily world for us to reach heaven, where we'll not be restricted and we'll be rewarded abundantly. May God guide you and help you out through this mission, I know it's hard but don't give up.
We may be from different religions but i'll say this verse anyways; "Allah does not require of any soul more than what it can afford. All good will be for its own benefit, and all evil will be to its own loss." Qur’an{2:286}.
So I believe God- who created you- knows your capacity and knows you're strong enough to handle this trial he gave you. So if you were a little patient, He'll reward you generously. May God bless and help you, brother.

I just wonder what it takes for a heterosexual to become homosexual?? Faith ? Prayers ?? attraction is not a sin. sin is the act. We believe in miracles.. we believe that it's possible that things can happen even if we don't have any control of. I believe , and it's possible I win lots of money on lottery.. but please don't ask me how much money I've spent/lost on lottery. should I give up? should people with same sex attraction also give up their hopes? What do you think: Which life is easier: when you give up and accept celibacy as fait or living the hope of finding "true" love and opposite-sex attraction ???

Never give up hope Read on for knowledge If you are wondering about the question of whether your sexuality is a sin or not, I welcome you to consider the following thoughts for clarification.
Peace

Homosexuality is a romantical and also sexual atraction to your same sex or gender... Being this The case thats not a sin of any kind, having an atraction is not wrong the bible just Says that having sex with someone of your same sex it is wrong. Oh theology of the body institute did answered it alright. The answer, believe in change. Theres a path to being straight, & theres a path to being gay. & If you go the path for being straight & face obstacles of the unwanted presence (gay fetish & so on) - you'll create a pattern of straight behavior that will undeniably defeat gay state of mind like water on fire. For more example - our brain has tones of traits that not necessarily align with each other. There could be two people inside of the brain. & Two of there brains could work together or separately when choosing to. There a change accuse. Each brain has more surfaced & deeper different roots. So you can shape unwanted branches, such as "victimhood" for example. Then water it less. Then unwater the roots. & That can boost your steps into the straight path. & If lgbt will argue that change is not a practical idea - then i can point out at gayish behaviors (giggling, breaking wrist, chewing gum like women & so) - will develop gay traits. & Putting on makeup can change someone interest from straight to gay. So the other way around - not trying to get attention by artificial, instead facing disagreement or hate of others & going beyond fear of rejection of society will make a guy resilient & more straight, therefore more attractive. In his own eyes & his environment eyes.

There is a channel on RUclips called "Be the Bee." It explains it like this: Flies look for garbage, while bees look for sweet honey. So be the bee.
I don't think it is distinctly LGBTQ+ to think this way. It is a very Christian idea. Unfortunately, many of us Christian's think it is more about sin management than starting with a relationship with God. He reveals Himself gradually to all of us, making repentance smooth and natural; sharing in His life in the Trinity.
Fulton Sheen put it this way:
The Father loves the Son, and the Son loves the Father. They have such adoration for one another that they can't help but look at one another and sigh with a living smile. That breath in between the Father and the Son is the Holy Spirit. When Christ was about to leave this world, He promised us the indwelling Holy Spirit- that we might walk in His ways, love as He loved and be gathered up from fallen corruption into the love of the Father, and the Son, in the Holy Spirit.
      - Much love to you. Enjoy God's eternal love in this life. Don't worry about what people say. All that matters is what God calls you. Just be sure to respond when He calls. Thank you for getting back to me :)

Here's the short, real-world, answer; a woman's sexuality is rooted in emotional connection, so it's not that difficult for a lesbian to transition to bisexuality or heterosexuality if she falls in love with a guy. Male sexuality, by contrast, isn't emotionally based and is largely innate. Even the testimonies of the very few "ex-gay" men who marry and have children ofen include acknowledgements that the the feelings they have for sexy guys remains an ongoing challenge, but not feelings for women, no matter how comely they might be. The word "homosexuality" is the term the wicked/abomination chooses to use to identify their actions. That's why it is important to stop thinking , and reading and believing in scriptures. You get sexual urges because your mindset and believe that you are x or y. Rather , start to believe , your body is vessel of Holy spirit , every sexual sin is sin against body of christ and Holy spirit. Put god first , not your own thought. Critical Response:
1:44 - No, one is not redundant and the other is not contradictory. These terms are used to signify a difference in sexual orientation between individuals based on which gender they have the ability to, and are sexually attracted too.
2:21 - No, it is not. You cannot claim that sex is a recognition of the distinction between male or female this way. And no, it also doesn't mean "same-difference". While you are correct on the Etymology, using a words etymology as if it defines current meaning of words is illogical. To be exact, it is an Etymological fallacy. Just because a word originates in a certain way, does not mean it's present meaning or even historical meanings will match the etymology of the word. If it's not immediately clear how silly Dr. West is being here:, let's try to do the same with a few different words. "Butterfly", "Scapegoat", or "doughnuts". The last one might be in a way the most fitting example, as the "nut" in doughnut would refer to a small, usually round piece of fried batter in it's etymological origin, which is exactly the part of the dough shape we don't usually associate with doughnuts anymore.
2:52 - No, they do point to something substantive, specifically, as noted before: "a difference in sexual orientation between individuals based on which gender they have the ability to, and are sexually attracted too." The huge irony here is, If we'd apply the same etymological fallacy as Dr. West did here to his use of the word substantive, would mean "Self-existent", which would by definition, necessarily *not* apply to anything god created at the beginning, as those things did not exist seperate from other beings or causes. Not only that, "substantive" is not used in modern day language to commonly describe specifically "what god created at the beginning", and "what got created at the beginning" is most certainly not any kind of etymological measuring tool, which is how it's being used here. Using a non-regular definition that doesn't even apply to the subject in an explanation for an etymological argument, only helps to further push the argument being made straight into the territory of being completely and utterly misleading.
3:04 - And now, just to drive home the point even further about the utter ludicrucy of before: I challenge anyone reading it to try to use the earlier fallatic etymological argument from Dr. West on the term/idea of: "to become one-flesh".
4:15 - If any desire other then that god created in the beginning is a distortion *and* a privation, gives some serious logical problems to consider. Applying this reason in other areas should show pretty easily that the implications of this are nonsensical. How about the desire to go cycling? For example. Replace cycling with basically any desire specific to things which were invented to humans or the way we live now, including ones like cycling that Dr. West would never describe as such. To steelman this problem even further, How about your desire to watch this video, dear viewer? I can only include, based on the argument provided, that wanting to watch this video from Dr. West is like "cold in the absence of light".
6:00 - One can make as many metaphorical arguments as they want, but this does not change the reality that there is no currently effective known way to change your sexuality, that efforts to repress your sexual orientation are quite widely established to have serious negative impact on mental health (often leading to suicide), and that there's also no known way to suddenly make a gay person get heterosexual attractions even in situations where sexuality is repressed.
6:36 - The "god made us this way" stance is a result of the above problem. The by now well established lack of ability to consciously decide or change your sexual orientation. This results in a squaring off between those with a message like Dr. West, and the reality around us. Dr. West ignores this problem, and his reason for ignoring it basically comes down to "But jesus". - Yeah, that didn't solve the problem mate.
7:49 - I am actually going to mention and subsequently ignore the implication of homosexuality being some sort of addiction that's being made here.
8:40 - And here we get to the crux of the problem. Dr. West equalises his own struggles with "sexual deviency" to specifically peoples sexual orientation as they relate to attractions to those of various gender by... completely ignoring the actual practical aspects of lumping the various different claimed and implied deviencies.
To summarise / My hot take on this video:
A man who misapplies etymology in logical reasoning makes an illogical argument that would've made his flavour of Christianity at best impossible to spread via the medium he uses when that argument is steelmanned, while not actually answering the question in the title, and ignoring the problems that resulted in other interpretations of Christianity around this subject while simultaniously disavowing those as problematic and damaging.

      1. On contradictory: The video claims Homosexuality is contradictory because the two root sections of the word in etymology are contradictory. Heck, even with current day compound words, the two sections of a word or term can be contradictory without making the meaning of a word contradictory such as in the terms "Silent Scream", "Old News", "Negative Income", "Bittersweet" and "Plastic Silverware".
There's however a bigger problem with the claim of contradiction from the video, that I hadn't even catched before. The video is outright wrong on the etymology. "Sexuality" comes from the Latin "Sexus" not "Sectio"; which in Latin refers to our gender-specific-genitalia or our sex depending on context, contrary to "section" which means section or division in the context the video proposes. The supposed contradiction doesn't even exist.
      2. On Sexuality: This word can refer both to an action and to ones capacity for sexual feelings. The video discusses homosexuality in the latter context in the places I responded to the video. And no, there is at current no known way to change your sexuality. There is ample scientific consensus that none of the currently commonly attempted methods to change ones sexuality are effective.
      3. On Science: Statements like these are why scientific education in schools is so important, specifically the part of what science is, what the scientific method is and how it can and can't be applied. There is no "The field of science". Something can't "not fall under the field of science" in the manner you're suggesting. Science is the study of structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world via observation and experiment, specifically via the scientific method; a way of collecting *imperical evidence* . Rather obviously, we can study both human behaviour and related factors like our sexuality (again, second definition from earlier used here) by asking scientific questions and researching those questions.
In addition: "empirical" refers to verifyable observation in contrast to pure logic or theory. To claim Sexuality isn't "empirical" is true in the most useless sense: Empirical can't be applied to "Sexuality" in this manner.

@@night6724 I wish I could but this channel doesn't allow links to be posted, so this might get a little complicated.
I would recommend trying to find Cornell University's Meta-Analysis page of research on conversion therapy efficacy and risks, showing out of 13 major studies meeting a set of basic scholarly accuracy standards that look into the efficacy and danger of conversion therapy, 12 show results indicating notable risk of serious harm and/or ineffectiveness of the attempts at conversion therapy.
From the available research it can be concluded that: At an absolute best, attempting to change your sexuality through such measures is ineffective in at least most cases, and has a risk of serious long-term harm to people attempting it, even with non-invasive methods.
Notably, the one study of the 13 that *doesn't* show serious risks and claims efficacy, was made by Dr. Nicolosi, who runs/ran a for-profit conversion therapy practice, and would stand to profit from these results. While that is no guarantee of it's inaccuracy, it is worthwhile to consider the effect of conflict-of-interest here.
The conclusions on the ineffectiveness or conversion therapy and attempts to change your sexuality and risk of both are (logically) also shared by all major medical associations.
And no, I don't think Milo is a liar.
Even in the studies that find major problems with the efficacy, a common trend is that a significant chunk of people who go through conversion therapy who *want* it to succeed, will identify as heterosexual for a while, just for that to crumble after some time and signs of PTSD or otherwise mental trauma relating to repression of sexuality coming up.
The real problem, as indicated by the scholarly material mentioned appears to be that attempts to change sexuality don't actually change your sexuality, instead they repress it. This can have some success at repressing sexuality short term, and some cases long-term, but that comes with the same mental health problems any other kind of repression and intense disacceptance, dislike or discontent of oneself comes with. - ESPECIALLY - at the point where it starts becoming obvious that nothing actually changed about the person's sexuality in the way they hoped.
*There's a reason we don't take this approach as humanity in attempts to change stuff about ourself in mosts contexts with any level of scientific background.*

      1. You're going to have to ask me a more specific question about gender I am afraid.
      2. These studies *do not* proof you can't change your sexuality. I never claimed as such. To quote myself: "There is ample scientific consensus that none of the currently commonly attempted methods to change ones sexuality are effective."
      3. You can endlessly claim studies are biased all you want but that's not helpful if there's no good reason to assume that. A good example of a reason to suspect a study's outcome might be affected by bias would be if there is an established conflict of interest, as in the case I cited. I am not randomly calling that study problematic here. - Nor did I argue for you not to consider it's findings too, just to be cautious with it because of the *valid reason* the study might be problematic.
      4. "Give me physical proof it's impossible to change" You are asking me to proof a negative, and an irrelevant one at that: For the calling for people to change their sexuality to be a problem as I noted earlier, I only have to note the impossibility of changing sexuality (in some, most or all cases) with current methods, which is all I've made claims about in this entire conversation and my initial critical response to the video.
      5. If your concern is about what is natural, you should get off the device you're commenting on, which is not natural, and stop talking about the fact some people are gay and will have relationships with those of the same-sex, for which there's ample indication this occurs naturally in not just humans but also various other species of animals.
Immediate caution/clarification, because I see you mentioning Natural in conjunction with Natural law: "Natural" has nothing to do with "Natural Law". Natural law is a concept of ethics derived from certain interpretations of Christianity, and "Natural" refers to matters which do and don't occur in nature.
      6. "You can’t say it’s impossible to change when millions of people have changed."
I can certainly say it's not possible to change your sexuality with currently known methods in the face of millions of people *claiming* to have changed their sexuality, for the same reason I can certainly say it's not possible to become a tiger with currently known methods in the face of millions of people claiming to have become a tiger.
There is no basis to assume people can actually change their sexuality, nor become a tiger, with currently known methods. This does not change because millions of people would make such claims, those claims should be resulting in research, which it has, repeatedly, which repeatedly results in findings contradicting these claims.

      1. I am unsure. The fact our sexual attributes also have a factor relating to personality; which is generally called gender identity (not to be confused with gender identity when used in descriptions of social gender; how one presents their gender socially), is something that has been known for almost a century at this point. To discuss about how fluid that factor can be isn't really all that helpful imo.
      2. Me: points out potential bias in study based on factually establishable issue with author in relation to research.
You: You act as if studies are never biased.
Yeah, no, I did not. I encourage you, and myself to check on potential problem factors with scholarly material, especially on critical issues like this where the amount of research available is more limited, and even when there *is* a risk of bias, that isn't a reason to ignore the findings of a study, but it can certainly be a part of looking at how the consensus breaks down, and whether or not the concern of bias seeped through into the methodology.
"But scientists are more likely to be liberal" tells us nothing regarding the accuracy of scientific research. Nor would "This scientist is conservative" be a valid argument from my end to suggest bias in research.
And just to kind of hint at the elephant in the room: It isn't exactly surprising scientists tend to lean more to the social left when you consider that social conservatism is literally based on maintaining tradition and to oppose change to such, and innovation in contradiction to such tradition, while generally speaking the goal of science is to learn more about the world, how everything around us works and to innovate based on that.
An effect that is no doubt also increased by the consistent attacks on the validity of science and the results of scientific research from the political right over the past few decades on all kinds of issues ranging from major things that impact everyone such as climate change to virology to subjects that affect specific groups of people, such as on the effects of adoption by same-sex couples.
When one side of politics keeps attacking science on a consistent basis in major, and socially contentious areas of basically every single field of science, It shouldn't be surprising that scientists might not identify as much with that side of politics anymore.

3a. "I can give you physical proof you can’t grow a tail or a horn."
No, you wouldn't. Not only because using a standard of "physical proof" (Which isn't a term used in this way usually in science; Empirical evidence is what you'd probably be looking for), but also because Humans can absolutely grow horns and tails. Among other things various types of cysts and cancer can cause one to grow one or multiple horns (I do not recommend googling thiis in image search), and humans can be born with a caudal appendage (or to put it more simply: a tail), although is incredibly rare, with documented cases worldwide being in the double digits.
3b. "But if you don’t like that what makes a person homosexual? Do you believe it is genetic or hormonal or what and if so why is that impossible to change when people are getting surgery to change their gender?"
It is unclear what exactly causes our sexuality to form the way it does (which for the record: would have to be understood first before attempting to come up with a credible attempt at making any method to change anyones' sexuality, making that more of a problem for you then for me). We do know some bits and pieces but overall we really don't know that much. Twin studies have for well over half-a-century pointed to at least partial causality pre-birth, but nothing more concrete then that as far as I am aware. Scholarly research into same-sex couples raising children does not appear to show those children to be more likely to be gay, which makes environmental factors of the specific imprinting/mimicing type very unlikely to be part of the causality. Lastly there's genome-wide-association studies. The most notable of which is probably (Ganna et al. 2019: Large-scale GWAS reveals insights into the genetic architecture of same-sex sexual behavior), which have established at least a partial genetic causality behind whether or not people are gay.
This last study also disproved earlier hypotheses about a single gene (Xq28) being the cause of non-straight sexuality, Which was, to give a rather succinct example of the earlier problem with right wing undermining of science, was used en-masse in right wing media and politics to suggest there is no genetic causality to Homosexuality. Which is notably the exact opposite result the study found.
Lastly: Gay and straight people do not appear to have different hormonal balances based on their sexuality.
This is not what makes people gay.
Hormonal factors during pregnancy *could* play a role, but I want to stress that there's currently zero evidence for that, nor good reason to asssume this is specifically the case. Only mentioning this as a possibility that has not yet been ruled out.
3c "Btw I will mention this there is a doctor in Texas who claims that he guarantees a couple can come to him and their child won’t become homosexual. Do you think that’s ethical?"
I am not sure what doctor you are referring too, but:
To be able to make such a claim, especially in the context of medical treatment, not just parts of the causality behind homosexuality would have to be known, but also at least one of the predictive factors, and a reliable method to modify that predictive factor. Science simply hasn't found the answers to those questions yet.
Making claims about the efficacy of treatment without proper scientific basis such as is necessarily the case here, is also commonly referred to as pseudoscience.
Rather obviously, the fraudulent sale of pseudoscientific medical services as would be the case if your claim about this doctos is true, is incredibly unethical, without even considering the ethics of trying to change the sexuality of a minor.

The problem is always on language. Homosexual on the Bible and traditional language refers to acts of a person. Whereas today it means those who have same sex attraction, or those who exclusively have same sex attraction, or the traditional view. Those who are anti religious tend to mix between definitions to mock and refute Christians. Whereas the way that politicians use the definition is to say those with exclusive SSA but also use opposing political person's uses of the word in ambiguous ways to slander them as saying something particular. Everyone is confused. Modern language would dictate perhaps that everyone is bisexual. Or suggest the kind of things that LGBT people say, that "we don't know what we are, maybe you're bisexual but think you are homosexual". If you want to communicate the Christian message in modern language, explain how early Christianity and ancient Rome, everyone was perceived as what we modernly call bisexual.
So if we love people we encourage them to live a monogamous Christian marriage. But as for ones attractions, like the LGBT say, we are open to discussing with a person to help them figure out what they are. Of course our goal is to figure out if they are bisexual or homosexual, and if they are bisexual then they can pursue a Christian marriage fully and authentically. If they "are not bisexual" but "are homosexual", then we say what Jesus said... - Some are born for the Kingdom of God, and some are made for the Kingdom of God, in that they live celibate lives for the Kingdom of God. But we don't have to know this necessarily is the case for a "homosexual", rather just that anyone who will never shake their exclusive same sex attraction in this life can live a fully happy and authentic holy life as a religious or a lay celibate devoted to great works for the Kingdom!

I agree! These terms are artificial. We're only male and female. That's why traditional marriage laws have never been discriminatory. Traditional marriage laws are equally applied to all men and women regardless of personal preference.

    • @AutoGamerZ_
      @AutoGamerZ_ 2 года назад +6

The fact the rule applied equally over men and women does not make it less discriminatory. This does cover discrimination in access based on personal attributes; but not discrimination on the actual function of the law, which is where the problem starts.
It's simple. If Jane can marry Mark, but James can't marry mark, a distinction has been made both on the basis of sex, and sexuality, which is discrimination if it that distinction is arbitrary in nature. It would not be discrimination if there's a functional reason to do this (that is strong enough to overcome the right to equal protection of the law as applicable to not just one, but both individuals seeking to marry at the same time) but there isn't.
If you believe there would be such a functional reason, I'll gladly hear it and discuss.

    • @Serquss

@@AutoGamerZ_ Laws are meant to control behavior regardless of ones personal preference to behave differently. For example, I really want to drive 100 mph; however, the law says I can only drive 50mph. Despite my preference, I must comply with the law or face consequences from the government. Even if I formed an organized identity group of individuals who state that we are born genetically pre-determined to prefer to drive at 100mph (which could be true since personality is tied to genetics), the law wouldn't be discriminatory because its equally applied to all citizens to behave the same way which is to drive at 50mph.
This logic applies to marriage. If marriage is defined as the ever-lasting union between one man and one woman, then that's the scope of behavior the law is regulating. If two men want an everlasting union, that's fine, but that's not behavior that falls within the traditional definition of 'marriage'. If three women want an exclusive union that lasts only six days, that's fine, but again, that's not the traditional definition of marriage. For marriage to be inclusive of these other type of arrangements, it would require a redefinition of marriage to mean something other than the exclusive long-term union between one adult man and one adult woman.
BTW, the traditional definition of marriage didn't only conflict with people who prefer same-sex relationships, it impacts those who prefer multiple wives, or prefer polygamy; etc. Again, the point is that, regardless of personal preference, the law was equally applied to men and women to behave specifically within the boundaries of how traditional marriage has been defined.

I want to make it very clear, just in case, that discussion is not about holy matrimony/religious marriage, and solely about civil marriage, which is the marriage as recognised under the law, and this isn't a discussion about the ethics, functioning or morality of religious marriages. This is solely about discrimination under the law, and what the law can, and can't do.
The law does *not* have free reign to control behaviour in private situations, and private actions in the public space. There are severe restrictions to this based on the right to civil liberty, equal protection of, and treatment by the law and freedom of religion. None of these are violated by speed limits on roads. The government has a compelling interest to regulate speed limits based on the public safety, and the enforcement of such restrictions are *not* arbitrarily different in whom they apply too, nor how they apply. Speed limit laws in that way are not comparable to laws that block access to the ability to mary for same-sex couples.
You really didn't actually really address the problem at hand, specifically by insisting that, because marriage laws that restrict marriages to opposite-sex couples apply equally to everyone based on their gender, there can't be any discrimination. This while ignoring that laws can also be discriminatory in how they apply, rather then just whom they apply too. *How* the law applies to people is what is important here. To reitterate: If Jane can marry Mark, but James can't marry mark, a distinction has been made on the basis of the sex of the applicants, which is discrimination if it that distinction is arbitrary in nature.
Given the restriction of limiting marriages to opposite-sex couples *is* arbitrary in nature, discrimination has taken place. The key here, that makes something discriminatory is that it's arbitrary. For this restriction to access to legal rights not to be arbitrary, the government *has to have a functional reason* (That isn't unconstitutional) to maintain the law as is, or to have that restriction in place. Something the government simply never had in this circumstance. You can call the point where the law is discriminatory "the scope" all you want, but the "scope" of a law is no less subject to the equal protection clause as any other part of the law, and can also be just as discriminatory as any other part of the law.
Heck, the government would need more then a functional reason to restrict recognition of marriages to opposite-sex couples, because the right to marry is long recognised by the supreme court, to fall under the first amendments' protection of civil liberty, meaning the government doesn't just need a functional reason, but also a compelling interest, to restrict the scope of marriages just to opposite-sex couples.
You at the end, talk about various other "non-traditional" forms of marriage, specifically those of more then 2 individuals. I am inclined to ignore this entirely, as it is entirely irrelevant to the question at hand. It may or may not be the case that restricting access to marriages to those with more then 1 spouse is also arbitrary or otherwise unconstitutional. Whatever the answer to that question might be though, it changes nothing about the arbitrary, and discriminatory nature and in turn unconstitutionality of restricting marriages only to opposite-sex couples.

    • @Serquss
      @Serquss 2 года назад +1

@@AutoGamerZ_ For the sake of clarity I am not referring to holy or religious marriage/matrimony. When I refer to ‘traditional marriage’ I’m referring to the traditional western cultural custom of one man and one woman forming a long-term union that is recognized by the community. This practice doesn’t require legal recognition by a government. Previously, these unions were largely arranged through local custom and/or religious tradition. In the United States, local and state governments became involved in the regulation of traditional marriage to prevent inter-racial marriages and miscegenation. Anti-interracial marriage laws are a thing of the past because they were racially discriminatory; however, U.S. states remained involved in the legal regulation of marriage.
But why would a government, community, or even a religious tradition be involved in recognizing this specific type of union? In other words, what’s the social significance of long-term commitments between a man and a woman, and how is it different from other possible unions between individuals? The answer has to do with children. The prosperity of a society is measured by its future prospects, and if children are to be future citizens who are expected to be replace older generations and support the society’s cultural, political and economic infrastructure, then there is a social interest in the effective creation and formation of children. Scientific research and cultural tradition has shown that children ideally have the best opportunity to be developed into happy adults when they are raised by one father and one mother from birth to early adulthood. This requires a stable long-term union between mother and father. The extent to which the society can support this specific union either through law, custom or tradition, will determine the long-term endurance of the society.
Same sex unions may be loving and long lasting, but they do not yield offspring, therefore the social benefit of preserving same sex union either through law, custom, or religious tradition is not the same as those unions that do produce offspring. Therefore marriage that is defined by the sex of the spouses is not arbitrary because fundamentally its purpose is to establish the ideal foundation for the creation and formation of future citizens, called children.

    • @AutoGamerZ_
      @AutoGamerZ_ 2 года назад +2

@@Serquss The primary problem I am seeing here is a lack of understanding of marriage recognition by the state, and the confusion of various types of marriage. You first state you're referring to a traditional custom that isn't about legal recognition, which would mean you're talking about something completely different then the area of complaint regarding discrimination, which is Civil Marriage, and continue to talk about the implication of both interchangibly.
While there are some differences in how marriage works accross states; Marriage as offered by the state is called Civil Marriage. This is the type of marriage in which blocking same-sex couples from marrying would be discrimination, and what those complains about discrimination were about. When I mention marriages from here on out, I am referring to Civil Marriage except if otherwise stated.
Questioning right now *why* the government initially got involved with the recognition of marriage is (perhaps surprisingly) not really relevant to the question of discrimination here. *The reasons the states have for recognising marriages, wouldn't actually change the problems with discrimination in access to said marriage.* The government certainly has a compelling interest in recognising opposite-sex couples' marriages, but the government would need not a functional reason to argue a case in favour of recognising opposite-sex couples in this manner, it'd need a functional reason to argue a case against recognising same-sex couples. This would, due to the 1967, by the supreme court established precedent marriage is a *right* under the protection of Civil Liberty, require not just a valid reason, but also a compelling government interest that weighs higher than the burden of the unequal access to the law in question towards the individuals being treated with an unequal standard under the law (couples of two individuals of the same gender, in this case).
Your conclusion comes into play here. To Quote you: "Same sex unions may be loving and long lasting, but they do not yield offspring, therefore the social benefit of preserving same sex union either through law, custom, or religious tradition is not the same as those unions that do produce offspring. Therefore marriage that is defined by the sex of the spouses is not arbitrary because fundamentally its purpose is to establish the ideal foundation for the creation and formation of future citizens, called children."
Even if this had been true and the entire story, this certainly provides for ample reason to recognise opposite-sex marriages, it however doesn't provide any argument against also recognising same-sex marriages.
Even if you could spin it in a way that *would* provide ample reason against recognising same-sex marriages, this argument still falls apart very quickly in considerations about access to marriage, because marriage, regardless of why it exists, doesn't actually require the couples to be able to, nor actually bare or raise any children. That standard *cannot* be arbitrary applied differently between same-sex or opposite-sex applicants. Such is, rather ironically, discrimination.
The social benefit in regards to raising and baring children that *do* have something to do with that access, the ones that are offered to the couples being married, notably don't apply any differently to same-sex couples baring children (For example via IVF, consensual insemination by a non-partner) or raising offspring in other contexts (Adoption, Surrogacy, Step-parent relations and so forth). Not only is there no reason to be found for blocking same-sex couples from access to marriage, it actually provides ample reason against this distinction, because same-sex couples and their children don't benefit less from the benefits of marriage if they are raising or baring children. This is true even if same-sex couples would fare worse at raising children as you claim.
Your reason might be able to provide for a possible argument regarding for example access to adoption, but not access to marriage as such, if it was correct. *Which it is not*
*The science does NOT show same-sex couples are worse at raising children then opposite-sex couples.*
A meta-analysis (basically a review of available, scholarly research that meets certain standards of peer review and methodology) of available research on exactly this question by Cornell University in 2017, found that 75/79 reviewed pieces of scholarly research, do not suggest a notable difference in parenting quality/child outcomes between same-sex couples and opposite-sex couples. There is a solid scientific consensus here, that same-sex couples fare about the same as opposite-sex couples in raising children.
      And to close this off:
"The extent to which the society can support this specific union either through law, custom or tradition, will determine the long-term endurance of the society."
*I actually agree with you here personally, in relation to recognising marriage in the law,* but maintaing the availability of that kind of stable union does not require in any way the exclusion of same-sex couples from recognition by the state in their marriage. Nor would it justify the negative impacts a lack of such recognition gives on the lives of same-sex couples that do raise children compared to opposite-sex couples raising children.

Peace

My experience say that the attraction and the need of same sex can nearly disappear totaly..it takes time and the right situation around.. anyway what we are looking for trough sex is Just intimacy that is missed when was the time to get it..if you work of intimacy in relationship whit no sex whit the same sex you can get free from the tendency..you cannot reverse the attraction..you can arrive to an asexuality state.. anyway the real problem remain it get smaller but remain and this is be able to relation yourself with other men freely whit no fear to confront..

I have problems relating to other people, because I am introverted especially with men.
