The thing with AT is that it is such a pain to get to and over the 30 years I have been going it has only got worse. And I hope it is built as Merlin do need a good wake up call.
I think initially they will push 2 or three night park and hotel stays. They can always add a second gate and a water park if they want longer visists in the furture. Hotel space will also be limited when they first open so hopefully it will grow over time.
They got permission to build and are already laying the ground work for each area of the park. Plus when it it is complete and up and running remember people in the EU will visit.
They’ve said a final decision will be made in June. But honest as you say with some of the things they’ve already started if this doesn’t happen I will be surprised 😀
I'm a novice when it comes to building. But Comcast has bought the land with the option of buying extra. They have also purchased a local building company in Bedford. Surely if they've bought a building company and loads of land it must be going ahead?
Another interesting thing is Page Thompson is classed as "President of new ventures" for the new building company. He was the universal executive at the public consultation
my big concern is build height restrictions in this country, I just hope the park just doesn't feel really small. there are some cool big designs in orlando and I fear uk one will look all farty.
The big parks in the US are best with multi day tickets. The prices go down. Really only Disneyland gets constant local one day visits, but those people buy Year passes. Locals always get discounts as well. That includes food, resorts, and gift shops. So I imagine that's the same business model they are going to present if they build in the UK.
This is a good point - Disneyland is very different to Disney World in that sense. And this is what you'd assume it'd be more similar to, on a much smaller scale. I just really struggle to imagine this whole proposal going ahead in this climate, and in the UK. It just seems an odd choice.
@richardu why would disneyland paris build in france with the weather they have? Going on last phew years England's weather is better there's no difference. They will build this park like Beijing with lots of lands purely indoors like kung-fu panda
hehe yup i rather be in que for half an hour that moves then one where is stand still for 15 minutes and then get in. Weird that. But i would love to see a universale park in Brittain might inspire your other parks do make a litle more effort like they do on the mainland. Ok the ones on the continent might not be as themed as universale but then most don't they don't have a multi billion corperation behind then and they still do pteey well compaired to the Brittisch ones.
How can anyone decide if it's worth it or not until it's built also i now expect some impressive things considering how good epic universe is shaping up
For sure anything right now is pure speculation. But it’s interesting to consider how it will benefit and potentially harm the current UK theme park industry 🙂
I was confused why the flights you were showing were so expensive until I realised you were trying to only find conveniently timed ones to make it a day trip. I've seen flight prices like £40-£50 for that on Google Flights for afternoon and evening flights, but that's before you add on somewhere to stay the night which I imagine is a lot more expensive with kids to pay for as well. I hope there'll be a good way for you to get to the park by the time it's open!
Great video. If it's useful found individual tickets prices for Islands of adventure on their official website. Varies a lot e.g. Saturday August 31st £133, Wednesday 4th September £97
This will def happen, the theme park in Kent however by the company- The London Resort is def now not happening! Now going to be turned into a Nature Reserve Park! As for the prices, you can still get in cheaper than what you showed by coleecting vouchers from: Breakfast Cereal Boxes, Drink Cartons, if you book in advance etc You also forgot to mention other Theme Parks as well that are really well themed like: Legoland Windsor! What IPs would you like to see done for this Park as Universal do own a shit loads... And they already bought that nearly 500 acres of land 😀 BTW-when do you think you will do history videos for Thorpe Park/ Chessington Zoo/World of Adventures, Alton Towers, etc?? How you been anyway? 😎
I’m good mate. How’s you? I’m super hopeful on this one given the progress they’ve made so far 🤞 As for IPs that’s a tricky one. On one hand I can see an argument to use the main ones like Harry Potter, Jurassic Wolrd etc since they are popular. But also to try something completely new. I know there were rumours of UK themed IPs like James Bond and Paddington 🤷♂️ Legoland does have theming but still not quite on the Universal scale As for history vids. I’ve been working on Thorpe Park for a few weeks. So hopefully I’ll get that out soon(ish) 😀
@@coaster_dad Good to hear mate, My hernia is playing up today which is rather annoying + hopefully settles back tomorrow as got my meds earlier- but getting that sorted out in late May 👍🏻 Yea, there is sooooo much to choose from via IPs 😀 Yeah, I remember when the theme park in Kent said about James Bond/Paddington which would be really good! + yeah HP they will prob use-you said Jurassic World but I was just talking about UK IPs...... IPS based off of: Roald Dahl's books would be great IMO. No, not on the scale as Universal but still worthy! Ah nice, don't forget any bits about the history of TP- like when Windsurfing begin at the park in 1980, Thorpe Park adopt a ‘Pay One Price’ policy. in 1983, Mr Rabbit Show/Cap’n Andy’s Revue both in 1985, etc Look fwd to the Thorpe Park video, how long will it be??
Even if this goes ahead, there's something about it that just doesn't add up. Our weather, the cost to get in etc and who would want to stay in a hotel in what essentially is a non-resort location? It won't operate in the same way as Orlando which let's face it has so much else to do in the area having the biggest competition on their door-step. Why would they want to be a big fish in a small pond is essentially my question. So many American corporations come over to Britain, all guns blazing only to find it's not that easy. Look what happened to Best Buy.
A good question. But I think they want something in Europe given they only have parks in the US and Asia and they obviously feel the UK is a popular tourist destination. I am curious if it happens how different it will be from the US offering because as you said this ain’t no Orlando over here 🤷♂️ I suspect we’d have more indoor areas/attractions
You have a major international city a very short distance away, so that is essentially what will draw people in. Lots of tourist attractions in London and for tourists who enjoy theme parks, they will likely book a nights stay and enjoy it as much as possible. This is only the beginning, they will build out and offer more over time. Plus there is the possibility of other attractions and hotel’s opening in the region over time becoming more touristy.
I agree. It's hard for us to even guess how this would operate, because like you say, it wouldn't be a resort. With regard to food in the video - don't forget that Disneyland Paris' food is incredible poor in comparison to the US parks. Which is very odd, given the French reputation. But I can imagine food would just be average at best.
The thing with AT is that it is such a pain to get to and over the 30 years I have been going it has only got worse. And I hope it is built as Merlin do need a good wake up call.
It will definitely be interesting to see how they react if this goes ahead!
I think initially they will push 2 or three night park and hotel stays. They can always add a second gate and a water park if they want longer visists in the furture. Hotel space will also be limited when they first open so hopefully it will grow over time.
Yeah I could see them doing that. Potentially exciting times ahead 😀
I think Universsl is learning a lot from Epic Universe with consensus being they need a lot more hotel rooms!
They got permission to build and are already laying the ground work for each area of the park. Plus when it it is complete and up and running remember people in the EU will visit.

@douglas3286 it’s certainly looking likely. But until they commit they could pull out and sell the land. 🤷♂️

I think they stated a max height in the proposal which was decent so fingers crossed. 🤞
I wonder how the portal design and total park atmosphere of Celestial Gardens at Epic Universe will factor into the design of this park.
Indeed. Curious to see what happens with this one

Yeah to be honest last time I went to London for a week and did all the parks down there. Kinda sucks living so far away 😭
Yeah I do feel for enthusiasts in scotland

Good to know. Still very pricey for one day. So keen to see what they do if they come here 😀

@mikekaraoke it’s a tricky one. I want to make sure I get as much history as I can. So probs a few more weeks til they’re ready 🙂
7:49 if you think £150 for the flights is bad you should see the train prices!
Ha yeah I’m a bit screwed living up here huh 🙈
@@coaster_dad driving is honestly the cheapest option. Last time I drove it was around £80 in petrol. Yeah it’s not great!
I’m very hopeful it’ll happen.
Yeah I genuinely hope it does too 🤞
what is the predicted footfall for Universal uk ???
Interestingly I can’t see that in their proposal. Which is weird you’d think the have a ballpark number for how many guests they expect in a year 🤔
8. 5 million people. visters a year that is about 2 million more than visted theme parks in the uk in the last 12 months )
