    Oh wow, I wish we could replace the door assembly with the new one instead of having to replace the whole door. Curious how much replacing the whole door would cost. I do love the upgrades Airstream has made, especially the new table and permanent u-shaped seating. But Robert's upgrades were fantastic and we might entertain doing some of them ourselves. Airstream could learn something from this: the drawers under the beds instead of cabinets, AWESOME! And that camera system is the best! Thank you for sharing this Brad.

      @@ThirteenAdventures Can you also suggest that they make more floor plans where the windows are on the camp side instead of street side? We love the front bedrooms but all the big windows are on the street side. I hate "peeping" at my neighbor's camp site. I sent them an email about it myself but maybe you'd have more pull since you're a celebrity. 😄

    • @ThirteenAdventures
      @ThirteenAdventures  27 дней назад

      Albeit far from any celebrity, I'll mention it! The major reason for the lack of windows there in many models is the door. Even those with the windows on that side (23' & 28') with the door open, you loose one window.

    Wow! Both the Airstream and truck are really nice! I couldn't help chuckling to myself though as my wife and I purchased our "New to us" 2005 Airstream 28" Classic last year. Yes, I have had to replace a couple things myself, kitchen faucet upgrade, replace the city water inlet, replace a Fantastic Fan motor, added an Easy Start to the AC, added a StarLlink cable connector and a few other odds and ends, but the trailer and everything else is still sound after almost 20 years. We are planning on hosting at a campground just south of Yellowstone for four months and I will be pulling my AS with my 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7 diesel. I bought the truck new and believe it or not it has the old hand-crank windows LOL. Oh, well, Airstream does make a good product and I hope the New models hold up as well as the vintage ones have. Happy trails!!!

    Did a lot of research as it sounds like they did and the 27 globetrotter with twin was exactly the one I was sold on as well my only thing I wasn’t totally sold on was the fabric on the chairs. Always felt like I was sliding off them. Then they announced the pottery barn and after waiting for 8 months to see one in person with a very similar lay out and liked the fabric we ended up with it have been very happy with our decision.

    Lots of information here about air stream. I think all Travel Trailers suspension needs to be inspected often. This was something that never crossed my mind. One youtuber's Travel trailer (NOT air stream model but single axle Springdale) leaf spring suspension broke into half on one side and they had to get the whole trailer towed by a tow truck from the side of the road. I am sure there must have been cracks or tale signs if they had inspected it. All in all, its wise to inspect any travel trailer suspension. Also lug nuts are necessary for inspection and must be Torqued to spec.
    Question: How much does this exact airstream weigh? If they mentioned I may have missed it

    • @ThirteenAdventures
      @ThirteenAdventures  19 дней назад +1

      Inspection and preventative maintenance is key to longevity, safety and peace of mind when traveling. The GVWR of this model is 7800lb. Im not sure what the weight is. After you add a second AC, ProPride hitch, and now all of the work they are doing to add batteries, upgraded inverter, etc. it changes the unloaded weight significantly.

    I think Airstream just found two new embassadors, thats got to be the most imformed walk through on any Airstream on you tube ever seen and his modifercations were well thought out those under bed drawers were sound sence and his chopping board simple but again very sound thinking. A little sad we can only get the International in the UK because the Globetrotter has far more to give ( i hate those slidding cuboard doors the look cheap somehow) Our imports are uprated to 240volt mains hence the restrictions on self importing ( plus the heavy import tax s ) So just a dream at this moment in time but i have e mailed the importers to sound them out. I’d love to hear more about their comment of “we bought the airstream on sale.” I believe they ordered it, and maybe even shopped that order to different dealerships. By “on-sale”, do they mean they just named a price say 5% to 10% less than listing? Would love to know how they negotiated this “on-sale” price. Thanks.

    Enjoyable video & educational as well. We seriously looked at Airstreams for the last year but ended up going in a different direction in order to stay tolerably small. I was curious about the setup for the trailering app in the truck. I have one in my Chevrolet but haven’t been able to connect my factory installed backup camera with the app in my truck. So I haven’t attempted trying the TPMS integration either. Could you ask Robert about any tips on how to get those 2 features in the GMC to work?

      They are monitoring the video questions and will hopefully have some answers for you. Keep in mind that they are on the road now and sometimes not in great coverage.

    • @ThirteenAdventures
      @ThirteenAdventures  22 дня назад

      From Robert:
      If your truck is equipped with a Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TTPMS), it is an easy setup. Make sure you purchase sensors that your vehicle will recognize, we purchased OEM sensors from GM. The local tire shop removed the old valve stems and installed the new ones with the sensors. Our local dealership helped program them for free, it took less then 3 minutes. You can also purchase a programmer, make sure you get one that is compatible with your manufacturer. Less than $10 on Amazon: amzn.to/3wyQg9u
      I do not believe there is a way to get our GMC’s infotainment system to recognize the wireless camera installed on the back of the Airstream. We purchased the Trailering Camera System from GM. It is hard wired and plugs directly into a camera port beside the 7-pin connector. The trucks infotainment system automatically recognized it. Once you input the dimensions of your rig during the setup, it will then display the invisible trailer, backup assist lines, etc.

    Hi Brad, great vid, thank you. Could you ask Robert how he mounted the camera? It looks like he may have used 3M VHB double-sided tape or similar. Did he use any sheet metal screws? Obviously I need to be careful with that. I doubt Robert used the bolts/nuts that came in the package. I'm about to diy mount my own GM camera to my '21 GT25FBT. I will likely remove the globetrotter placard as well. I don't have the rear trunk area to drop my camera wiring harness down into so running it through the coach would be much more difficult. I'm considering an exterior run.

    • @ThirteenAdventures
      @ThirteenAdventures  13 дней назад +1

      Thanks for watching! I'll send them a message to ask. Also, Ive seen a number of people add this and other cameras to the back of their rig. Most of the time, it was attached with both VHB and sheet metal screws. Ive seen the wiring inserted behind the tag and ran down between the interior and exterior wall into the inside cabinetry and up to the front (much more invasive and difficult). Ive also seen it ran straight down the outside of the rig into the bumper and then to the front underneath the rig. The second option is much easier

    • @robertnancy20
      @robertnancy20 13 дней назад +2

      I made ALL the exterior shell penetrations behind the Globetrotter emblem so if something went wrong or the camera needs to be removed, they can be covered and hidden by replacing the emblem. I cut a penetration large enough to get the plug end of the camera cable through the exterior and interior shell. There is wiring in that area so be careful not to hit it when cutting the holes. The cable was run thru the exterior and interior shell, behind the rear seat cushion, down into the right side with all the other wires where it was brought forward. (I wanted to drop it into the rear trunk storage but was unable to). On the forward end it was dropped into the belly pan and out the front end. The excess cable was left coiled in the belly pan. I used the supplied camera mounting hardware with large fender washers on the inside for added support (it could also be riveted). I set the camera mounting frame into a large bed of Sikaflex caulk to make sure it was sealed well. The two emblem holes were closed with a pop rivet and Sikaflex.
      I have seen pictures where a hole was punched in the center of the rear bumper and the camera mounted through the hole.
      Good luck with your installation.
