wow, these commercials take me back to my wonderful early teen years! There are several other showbiz commercials I remember but I can't find them. One was kids talking about having to go to a grown up restaurant "and they make you eat stuff like Linguini....EEEWWWW!" Then came the "But at Showbiz Pizza you can act like a kid........" There was another one about a girl talking about having to to her chores and homework, and be nice......(look of distain). "even to my little brother!"
I actually realized that Freddy Fazbear's and ShowBiz Pizza have a lot in common for one thing they're both entertainment restaurants that opened in the 80s and they also specialized in pizza and entertainment by means of singing animatronic animals and they both have a big brown bear as their mascot the only difference is that one of them has a much darker history
1985 was the first year both CEC and ShowBiz Pizza assumed the "Where a Kid Can Be a Kid" tagline, since that was when the merger of the two companies was initially completed. The two chains then came closer together in 1990 when, after Aaron Fechter (who ran Creative Engineering, Inc.) refused to sign over the rights to his Rock-afire Explosion band to ShowBiz Pizza Time, Inc., a new program called "Concept Unification" was undertaken to eliminate Fechter's characters from the ShowBiz Pizza locations. The name of the animatronics was changed to "Munch's Make-Believe Band," with new costumes to match. In 1992, the ShowBiz Pizza Place name was retired and all remaining such locations were rebranded as Chuck E. Cheese's.
0:55 -- originally opened April 21, 1983, and still exists today as a Chuck E. Cheese 2.0 (following a 2022 rebuild after initially closing down in 2020).
I went to the location in the first commercial! Of course it was a Chuck E. Cheese’s when I went, but it’s still cool to say I was there before it closed!!! 🤩
Fun facts: The last original ShowBiz Pizza Place unit opened in Richmond, VA (at 10430 Midlothian Turnpike) on May 1, 1990. The last ShowBiz Pizza Place unit to both undergo Concept Unification and then close down was in Pasadena, CA (at 3765 East Foothill Blvd.); this unit closed in October 1993, as a new Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza unit (at 3737 East Foothills Blvd.) was built nearby.
I never grew up with Showbiz, because I was born in 2001. So I never got the chance to go. But I did go to Chuck E Cheese as a kid, which is nice. I also went to a place called Club Kids in my childhood, which was also a fun place to go to. There's also Xbos I went there too. It was fun. So in my childhood, I went to Chuck E Cheese, Club Kids, Xbos, McDonald's, Burger King, anywhere with a playhouse really.
Wow, Looks like the Chuck E Cheese character was carried over to Showbiz Pizza before they were rebranded entirely and I never knew that Showbiz Pizza used the “Where A Kid Can Be A Kid” slogan!
Prior to 1986, both chains were still using their previous slogans ("Share the Fun" for ShowBiz Pizza, and "Smile America!" for Chuck E. Cheese's) and even crossed over to one another on some occasions, and rarer still, even overlapped with the "Where a Kid Can Be a Kid" slogan during the first year or two of its usage.
0:29 So I just figured out the history of this place, so basically around this time in the 90s it was a showbiz pizza place then when showbiz pizza went out of business in 1993. It turned into a Chuck E. Cheese then sometime during Covid. It went out of business completely and was abandoned and by 2023. All that remains is the Reminence of what used to be the writing of Chuck E. Cheese.
Yes, 1983 for the one with Dragon's Lair... by the time of the merger, all of the pre-merger ShowBiz Pizza locations in the Seattle area closed their doors except for Lynnwood, which moved over to a newer location in 1986, and was thus the only ShowBiz location in the Seattle area to get the "Concept Unification" makeover.
I definitely remember the tagline Share the fun come on and share the fun at Showbiz Pizza Place, and then Where a kid can be a kid. I remember the Showbiz Pizza Place with the blinking lights around the logo and the other logo SHOWBIZ PIZZA PLACE which could be seen outside as pole signs So in 1983, the first one I went to was the one in Midfield AL which is now Family Dollar before that it was Good Year Tires then when that closed down I started going to the one in Roebuck AL then it became Chuck E Cheese now it's a Walgreens I really wish I took some pictures damn lol. It was the place where any kid be any kid.

Great video! Brings me back!! Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
Some of these commercials featured the great Chuck E. Cheese.
In the 1990 Showbiz commercial, Chuck E. Cheese and Billy Bob Brockali appeared.

Chuck E. Cheese was friends with Billy Bob Brockali.
It's weird how several commercials feature Chuck E Cheese before the concept unification was even in its earliest state
almost if not all of the commercials are from the 80's not the 90's
That was wonderful 👍🥰❤💖
