Just got out of the shower and figured I'd warm up to practice a bit. I always loved doing this song and I got to debut the full thing with an extended solo at the Jazz club Fascings in Stockholm Sweden back in 5774/2014. Great audience. great time!
For those curious or interested the shirt I am wearing is of an flag from a troop of Jews who fought on the side of the Union during the Civil War. The thirteen stars are arranged in the shape of the Star of David and it is on display in a museum in Boston.
Typically I do not get political on this channel despite being super political, but I made the shirt as part of a political project I am leading to add Jews and other religious minorities to the Civil Rights Act, Title VI, and Voting Rights Act. Currently religious minorities are excluded from those protections and while the First Amendment does prevent Congress from instituting a national religion there is no real protection against systematic discrimination based on religious status in the USA. I found this out upon suing the US Department of Education for including antisemitism stereotypes of Jews and other minorities which mirror those created under the Nuremberg Laws by the Nazis in the US national curriculum. The Federal Office of Civil Rights told me in a letter that Jews and other religious minorities are not included in the Civil Rights Act or Title VI but I could affirm Judaism is a disease and sue each individual school for disability discrimination individually. Obviously I am not going to affirm that and so my only option is to have us as well as other religious minorities to the Civil Rights Act and Title VI before trying again. I decided to toss in the Voting Rights Act after reading it to discover it has the same exclusion.
Thus I am asking people to write our Representatives to ask that we get added to these acts. If you want to get involved please send the Bill below I wrote to your local Representative requesting they sponsor it and if you want a shirt let me know.
THE RESTORE THE FIRST ACT
Be it proposed that in order to restore the Rights of the American citizen under the First Amendment that the Civil Rights Act be amended to include protections for religious minorities as well by altering the verbiage of Section 105 Subsection A Point I, Section 105 Subsection A Point II Subpoint 3, Section 106 Subsection I, Section 107 Subsection M, Section 301 Subsection B, and Section 302 Subsection 1 to reflect, “prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, and religion”.
Be it proposed that in order to restore the Rights of the American citizen under the First Amendment that Title VI of the Civil Rights Act be amended to include protections for religious minorities as well by altering the verbiage of §2000d and §2000d-6 Section A to reflect, “prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, and religion”.
Be it proposed that in order to restore the Rights of the American citizen under the First Amendment that the Voting Rights Act be amended to include protections for religious minorities as well by altering the verbiage of Section A, Section A 1, Section E Subsection C, Section E Subsection A, to reflect, “prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin of naturalized citizen, sex, age, disability, religion, and tax exempt Native Americans ”.
