if anyone ever asked me what northern soul was i’d play them this
Good shout, I still remember the euphoric rush dancing to this, all around u the niter bouncing, brilliant
KTF
There's aa few, but off the top of my head, I'd play "I Still Love You" by The Tamangoes (Gino Washington.) KTF SoT.
Wow! Frankie! Love it! ❤❤
Northern Soul challengers come and go but Frank Beverly and the Butlers remain no. 1
Driving uptempo dance beat, brilliant soulful vocal performance, real-life lyrics with the emotion of a relationship in terminal decline
It’s got the lot!
Hi mala what a phenomenal dance track for sure I rememberd at the palais Nottingham late 70's the whole place whent wild all the best for the new year ✊🏻
A lot of these songs all sound the same.
Absolutely and unlike so many Northern Soul artists Frankie finally found global success with Maze. The cat is a true great.
One of the best intros and classic tunes love it 😀
Bunny sigler girl don't make me wait. Is another with class intro.
Major, major bonus points to the great Gamble label (recording home of the Intruders, Music Makers, etc.) for having the foresight and absolute GREAT TASTE to reissue this 1967 monster classic. Frankie Beverly And The Butlers remain among the absolute masters of Northern Soul, and the Sassy label original 45 is not that easy to come by these days. One of the most perfect records ever made.
Yes to all of that, much harder on Gamble than Sassy though, several hundred Sassy copies turned up in 25 count boxes in the UK in 1976/1977. £4 each.. if only we'd known...
@@stockholmfox6969 ........The Gamble 1968 [re]issue used to be worth over 50% more than the original 1967 release on the small Sassy record label. [Gamble actually acquired the distribution rights for the record and slightly changed the arrangement].
However, following the release of the original Sassy recording in the 1970's - it's value has also rocketed. As a result both editions are highly sought after and fetch a lot of money these days.
Takes me back to the scooter rallies, mid '80's..Great stuff! KTF
Happy days Ted Hornchurch 👍✊🌜🙂
Quality never disappoints ktf 👣🎷🎺🎶
Pure Soul, WHAT A RECORD!
I never knew the Frankly Beverly (who is from Philadelphia) was signed to Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff's record label in the 1960's.
Imagine MAZE being signed to Philadelphia International Records (PIR) in the 1970's with the direction of Gamble & Huff. I can see the hits.
All these records are so expensive because people from the future went back and bought up all the good shit.
If we only knew then what we know now 50 years ago bought them sold them buying again
