Nice work bud as always. Massive kudos to you for takin someone else’s crap away with you. If everyone did just a little bit, our beautiful spots would be even better. 🇦🇺💪😎
What a great camping spot! We hate anything that bites really 😂 That black sand looked awesome. Since our spring sucks here (still feet of snow on the ground and -14°c last night) it's really nice to see your weather while we wait to ride. *T4S*
Had a bad reaction to sandflies after being bitten all evening without realising it. Next day I was full of welts and in sheer hell. Don't use Bushman, use RID, it's not sticky. I don't mind the random breathe tests, the more it keeps drunken a-holes of the road the better. 👍
@@BikerBytes yeah I don't know if my reactions have changed over the years or if it's a different type of sand fly but I remember in the day I used to get that shit, big welts that I'd scratch till they bled and it would be a week of misery. But these days they only seem to itch me for maybe 30 minutes which is a helluva lot better but still enough to royally fuck up any chance of a good night's sleep 💩😬

Well that was fun while it lasted Josh. Up here in the great white north its usually they need suspicion to get you to blow. I have never seen random breath test where I am. Anyway it's a good thing. Cheers Josh

Is good you get the random breath tests, we get them in the UK too, mainly around Christmas, but at other times of the year too, and normally get tested as standard procedure if we are stopped for any other reason too. Our limits are stricter too... 0.035 so we can only have a pint tops, although with time we can have more... It seems a lot won't touch a drop, I'm good with having a pint, or if over a longer period, acouple... but am a lightweight, so can't risk more... also screws us if we get caught over the limit for around 10 years on insurance premiums and I'd probably lose my job too, as well as my licence... So I tend to not bother unless an occasion calls for it (like a pub lunch lol) 😀
Yeah mate losing your license for DUI here is a major pain in the arse too, thankfully I haven't had the pleasure. Definitely lost the license a couple of times but that was for other naughty activities 😬 Pub lunch is the perfect occasion mate, cheers 😎🍻
There are sandflie proof screens, just doesn't come with all tents. Worst thing to do is scratch, find a aloe vera plant and slice some leaves off and use the sap to significantly reduce the itch and help heal the wound.
This tent is advertised as having "Polyester inner tent with No-See-Um mesh windows for ventilation but no biting insects" I think they lied to me 🤔 I don't generally have a bad reaction to the sand fly bites they only itch temporarily thankfully, must be all the beer in my system 🍻 cheers
@@MVDBR Cheers. Certainly is a faulty mesh. I have a Australian Army issue mosquito net and sand flies don't get past. You may notice the itch will come back every high tide for a few days.
Sand flies (Ceratopogonidae family), are referred too as Blackflies, or No-See-Ums here in Alaska. We use repellent products that contain Deet to keep them and mosquitoes at bay (Ben’s is the brand I use). Deet works great as a repellent, but it eats plastic so can damage helmets, cameras, or anything else that’s plastic on your bike. So I have to be very careful how and where I apply it so I don’t trash my gear.
Cheers yeah the tent I have is supposed to be No-See-Um mesh but apparently that's bullshit 🙈 I usually use Off! brand insect repellent which also uses DEET but I had run out of that stuff before this trip hence why I had the useless Bushman. Apparently Bushman uses 20% DEET as well but the Off! is much less sticky in my experience.
@@MVDBR yeah, the Ben’s repellent I use is %100 Deet (strong stuff). Too bad on the tent not being tight enough, that sucks when you find out the hard way.
We have random DWI checks in New Mexico as well. They only do the breath check to those they suspect are intoxicated though. They don't breath test everyone...
Unfortunately I get an allergic reaction to those little mongrel Sandflies. So this type of beach camp I leave to winter time. Apparently if you dose up everyday on Berocca for a week before heading into Sandfly country they won’t go near you. Yet to test that theory.
I guess that could work, but next time if there is a next time I'll have my trusty tropical strength Off! I haven't tried that stuff in extreme sand fly conditions but at least it's not awful sticky crud like the Bushmans 🍻
I use sawyer permethrin on my gear for insects. It's safe for use on clothing, tents and backpacks. Seems like bug repellent keeps the sand flies from biting me, but they still seem to harass me even with bug repellent on...
Haha not really much mate just give her an extra long and thorough shower with the pressure washer, and an extra generous helping of WD40 on the chain. That's literally about it 😁 Cheers

First let me say I rarely consume alcohol. Back in the 60's & 70's many states in the U.S.A. had mandatory highway sobriety check points. They ended because police over used & abused the check points infringing on citizens rights causing massive traffic jams and lengthy delays to travelers. Some days it was like navigating through a military state with multiple check points. Most of the arrests were non alcohol related.
Yeah thankfully they don't often set them up on busy highways here and if they do, they don't stop EVERYONE just stop a few then let the traffic resume, and rinse and repeat. But generally they are crafty and set em up on backroads where drunkards are trying to sneak home from the pub 😁
