In this talk, we will present how Data Science approaches personalisation in VeepeeTech, the European flash-sales leader: the goal is to provide the best offer to each customer based on the user interests to increase overall engagement. We provide personalised content to help our customers easily find the sales they are looking for on the Veepee website.

You may have received a similar message like this one on your phone from Spotify. Every day, we are reaching out to different users, via different channels and with different purposes. There are many aspects that need to be balanced: who should we contact at what time with what message to keep users engaged? This talk will explain how we are tackling some challenges related to messaging optimization. We’ll also take a look at some in-house developed tools such as our Experimentation Platform and our ML platform, Hendrix.
About the speakers :
Oriol Roqué is a Data Science Manager in the Data team at VeepeeTech. In his more than 3 years in the company, he has contributed to marketing related projects such as churn prevention and affinity targeting, while the main focus is still on recommender systems in the personalisation project.
Georges Kohnen, a former physicist, started as a senior Data Scientist at Veepee in 2017, before taking over the responsibility of the Data Science department in 2022. He worked on various projects including personalisation and forecasting topics, and is now in charge of aligning the Data Science objectives with the company priorities.
Bart Aelterman is a Machine Learning Engineer at Spotify, working from his home office in Antwerp. Bart has 10+ years of industry experience working as a Data Scientist, Data Engineer and Machine Learning Engineer at different companies, among which Veepee.
