They were caught by surprise by the Germans, and lost millions of people. I'd say they had ample reason to never be caught off guard and/or unprepared ever again.
The Soviets used millimeters at that time. The French and Italians did as well. The Germans and Japanese used centimeters. It was just the Americans and British who still used inches in the 1940s. The actual reason these videos give all the gun and armor measurements in inches is that this is the North America channel. The Wargaming Europe channel has these same videos but uses metric for all the measurements.
It seems like a Bigger Moskva, and the Moskva was Considered to be a Medium Cruiser, So this is about as big as a Battlecruiser. Jesus Christ how big would their Battleships be, let alone Super Battleships... Im scared of what will come to World of Warships in the Future...
That's exactly what it is. The Project 66 cruiser (what's called Moskva in this game) was its immediate predecessor. Stalin looked at the design and demanded that they make it bigger. The result was Project 82 (Stalingrad).
General_Dave_1 well these are technically battlecruisers by international definition. The term "large cruiser" is geopolitical term invented to avoid using proper terms in order to avoid any escalation of geopolitical tensions between NATO and Warsaw Pact alliances during the Cold War. It's similar to "through deck cruiser" and "helicopter destroyer"
Feral Lion Also, the "Large Cruiser" designation was used instead of battlecruiser for Alaska to keep funding for the USN Battleship Bureau, and to basically, keep them happy despite the rapid decline in BB effectiveness in battle.
Wait a sec the HMS Hood was designated as a battle cruiser and was armed with 15 inch guns. This class of ship would fit somewhere between the heavy and battle cruiser class
Soviet strategy to make the most powerful Heavy Cruiser in existence. Take a battle cruiser and call it a heavy cruiser. GENIUS! According to design specifications that needed Stalin's approval or face the gulag, this ship was the most powerful, strongest, fastest ship ever. Laid down in quick fashion 12 years after it was outdated.
That ship is close to being called a battleship. I believe it would be a holy terror! Small ships, beware!7:39-I'll bet it was a bitch trying to sink it
This "1:42 Scale" video series is based around the ship models displayed at the Central Naval Museum in Saint Petersburg. It's a Russian museum, so naturally there's an emphasis on Russian ships. eng.navalmuseum.ru/
well i did not know that but still russian ships are nothing in comparison to jpn ones, jpn had so many great worth mentioning ships such as mogami hiryu nagato shokaku fuso dds in general and many more
Well in some respects yes but they only had numbers on thier side not quality the thickest a piece of armor for yamato was shot at by a us 16 inch gun and it pierced it no problem
true but they did not even show the ship bc it was not complete but even if they had ,the uploaded this vid in a channel with the name 'world of warships' not 'russian navy ,fuck yeah'
if this bakemono makes it to the premium shop , i want alaska. because right now , the only this that could , maybe , match this beast , is scharnhorst
Looks awesome, going by previous statements this would be a battle ship on the single criteria of it has guns of 12 inches or more. As a premium it would be awesome but i can not see it being any less than a tier 9. Even tier 9 is pushing the envelope 35 kn 180 mm citadel armor 144 mm on citadel from the top and 12 in main guns this smells like a tier 10 which means a possible second U.S.S.R cruiser line. Compared to Moskva it has the same gun lay out except 12 in guns this time armor thicker the aa will probabily be stronger, Moskva will be shorter and narrower. Displacement puts it in the same weight range as an empty Iowa class except its longer 897 ft vs 887 ft and almost as wide as Iowa 105 ft vs 108 ft . I see only a few things holding this thing back size, turning, stealth or lack there of, and rate of fire. Looks fun would buy if premium and grind if not.
Please WG. Make videos about ww2 ships that were finished. You have a lot of vessels from other naval powers to choose that are more interesting than soviet designs. Don't waste your budget :)
mybugatti100, no, Moskva Was a Medium Cruiser in the Soviets terms, this is a Heavy Cruiser, and Clearly, Heavy Cruisers in their eyes are bigger than other nations Battlecruisers.
This ship has 12 inches guns Scharnhorst has 11 inches guns If this Russian cruiser has better gun characteristic like dispersion than Schan, we riot!!
I find it interesting there was so many "best" listed yet she was not tested so how do we truly know? Lets leave the opinions out and just give real facts. I like these videos with the history you are doing but this really feels..... off with the wording used.
I can feel the russian bias coming ...
FranClyn
i can allready See Dat He Spam at long range 😐
Stalin flavored shells!
FranClyn
i can see ppl bitching about it already, litterly
Oh yeah, this would be hinting we'll be having the Alaska and Stalingrad
Design B-65, Essentially a shrunk down Yamato.
It's always cool to see people calling the ships coming, B-65, Stalingrad, Alaska. =)
"Cruiser"
They should make an episode about the Sovetsky Soyuz class battleships
David Jeong there is actually a cruiser class named like this?
Nope, it's actually a planned soviet 'super battleship'. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovetsky_Soyuz-class_battleship
You know what sovetsky Soyuz means?
The Soviet Union
I guess that could work too, as the battleship tier after the littorio class.
I didn't realize those ships were that close to completion. I really enjoy these vids.
My Des Moines will be ready to take on this seaborne KV2.
Wing hung yuen will it also be ready to sink?
I guess, but I can imagine the citadel of this vessel must be vulnerable.
Wing hung yuen it's a Russian super project so it gets the best Russian Bias ever to be given to a Russian weapon in any game ever
Commander_Timber_Wulf Shells guided by the hand of Stalin. ;) Just send some political rivals to the gulag.
Look at the speed, the guiding hand of Stalin makes it faster than most CAs, DM included. It's more like a seaborne KV-1S.
*Stalinium Rounds Intensifies*
"look! we are russians, whe must compensate something, we must build everytime the biggest thing of his class!"
Matteo Orlandi their DDs are cruisers and their cruisers are battleships
Harrison Fisher and their battleships are super star destroyers.
Mr. Derp And their CVs are floating airports, submarines underwater battleships with forward firing torpedo launchers
They were caught by surprise by the Germans, and lost millions of people. I'd say they had ample reason to never be caught off guard and/or unprepared ever again.
yES THATS VERY TRUE! LOL
... Why inches? Why always inches?!
donnu
DrPapaPenguin because it causes less stress for the weak minded.
DrPapaPenguin because naval measurement used inches for almost everything in the 40s.
The Soviets used millimeters at that time. The French and Italians did as well. The Germans and Japanese used centimeters. It was just the Americans and British who still used inches in the 1940s. The actual reason these videos give all the gun and armor measurements in inches is that this is the North America channel. Captain_Dorja the germans didnt French didnt Japanese didnt Soviet didnt

Well do you want a Super Carrier made by British?
JUST WAIT UNTILL AND YOU FUCKING SEE
General_Dave_1 well these are technically battlecruisers by international definition.
The term "large cruiser" is geopolitical term invented to avoid using proper terms in order to avoid any escalation of geopolitical tensions between NATO and Warsaw Pact alliances during the Cold War.
It's similar to "through deck cruiser" and "helicopter destroyer"
The Sovetsky Soyuz was around Yamato size.
Feral Lion Also, the "Large Cruiser" designation was used instead of battlecruiser for Alaska to keep funding for the USN Battleship Bureau, and to basically, keep them happy despite the rapid decline in BB effectiveness in battle.
This isn't a Heavy Cruiser, This is a Battleship!!!
Haha, I love how it was Stalin's passion for heavy cruisers that spurred the project!
Guess I gotta save cash and make more burger for the glorious Stalingrad
The vanity project of one man ... Anyway, can I buy the model ? Did not notice a link in the video ...
heavy cruiser?! this is a bloody BB!
Wait a sec the HMS Hood was designated as a battle cruiser and was armed with 15 inch guns. This class of ship would fit somewhere between the heavy and battle cruiser class
Naw, it would pretty comfortably fit in battlecruiser considering its armor and 12" guns.
What's the BGM starting at 2:30?
Barrikady...
aint that the company that made that ungodly ML-20 howitzer and A-19 field gun?
The Stalingrad remembers me of the canceled ship kronstadt
Feet? Inches? What is this, the 19th century?
Now, after CW rewards have been revealed, we collectively as seamen have a ship to have wet dreams about.
please add this to the game
dann that intro is sweet
THAT IS LIKE THE IJN YAMATO
That ship is close to being called a battleship. I believe it would be a holy terror! Small ships, beware!7:39-I'll bet it was a bitch trying to sink it
yes! my favorite russian ship
For one second I thought the title of the video was wrong because it looked like a German Cruiser.
If this was added to the game in its current state this ship would be op af
where is the museum ?
i like how they make vid about every fucking ussr ship and they have done like 2 vids for jpn ships
dimitris vakas well they are near Russia and many of thier employees are russian
This "1:42 Scale" video series is based around the ship models displayed at the Central Naval Museum in Saint Petersburg. It's a Russian museum, so naturally there's an emphasis on Russian ships.

Sooooooooo, are you guys hinting at a Russian cruiser sub-line? (plz)
stalingrad and alaska pls
Bruh, that thing is a battle-cruiser on steroids.
1:42 is russian ships only, right?
I really wish you guys would just stick to metric for the stats.
need that in my Port
isn't this suppose to be a battlecruiser or battleship?
You mean, Battlecruiser.
if this bakemono makes it to the premium shop , i want alaska.
because right now , the only this that could , maybe , match this beast , is scharnhorst
I want it! Stalingrad is awesome! :-))
Interesting outward angled rudders. By 1951 it was obsolete.
WHY IS THAT CRUISER SOOOOOOOO BBBBBBBBBBBIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
It's not a cruiser it's a battlecruiser
That's not a heavy cruiser, that's a light battleship.
nah i think its a Battlecruiser.
by the armor and the speed.
I NEED this in my port
Looks glorious
That is not a heavy cruiser at all.
This should be Called a battlecruiser
Is that A museum? Tell me plz
Museum in Saint-Petersburg.
Okay how much?
This would be a tier 8 Premium BB
Looks awesome, going by previous statements this would be a battle ship on the single criteria of it has guns of 12 inches or more. can you make it to tier x premium
28miles firing range !! the hell !!
Inb4 desginated Battlecruiser class
this is a battleship
Effectively a battlecruiser.
Yes
Please WG. Make videos about ww2 ships that were finished.
You have a lot of vessels from other naval powers to choose that are more interesting than soviet designs.
Don't waste your budget :)
what a sea beast
Isn't this the moskva?
mybugatti100, no, Moskva Was a Medium Cruiser in the Soviets terms, this is a Heavy Cruiser, and Clearly, Heavy Cruisers in their eyes are bigger than other nations Battlecruisers.
All I want is a T8 DD premium
Lo Yang
This ship has 12 inches guns
Scharnhorst has 11 inches guns
If this Russian cruiser has better gun characteristic like dispersion than Schan, we riot!!
Duc Viet Truong There is a 15 year difference in the design of the ships, of course Stalingrad would have better guns.
If they're going to add another Russian super ship that was never built/completed, they better add the Alaska...
hevey cruser?!?!
more like a Battle cruser or a battleship want to be...
Now that is a Model. (Even though its Russian)
Sexy looking ship. A bit pointless after the war though, I would have thought the USSR had better use for the money than this.
I guess you can say Staling is very Rad!
DON'T KILL ME PLEASE.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *ded Not a big suprise*
I find it interesting there was so many "best" listed yet she was not tested so how do we truly know? Lets leave the opinions out and just give real facts. I like these videos with the history you are doing but this really feels..... off with the wording used.
Moskva is a pretty ship
its not the moskva
bordelman niko well..... it's stalingrads' hull with 220 mm guns
Moskva is a smaller version, the Project 66 cruiser design. Stalin demanded that they make it bigger, and the result was the Project 82 Stalingrad.
Muy bien, but yeah those two ships look identical
Love!
Something built in the 1950's... so don't put it in the game.
Gorillazilla Mikhail Kutuzov is a 1950s era CL, and it's in the game.
Ah the typical russian bias from WG. When will they learn that most people don't like the bullshit.
Not really, Kutu is a paper ship, just takes 1 BB to look at it wrong and your deleted
lol I love how this is so biased...
Here comes the Russian bias!
proof of Russian bias
What's the BGM starting at 5:40?
