Go after Rantanen instead better player. Better numbers. Better everything. A player who has a career high of 26 goals isn't worth it. Goals win games not assists. To soft and perimeter player when the game matters most. He's already overpaid.

Marner had a 30 goal season i believe but I agree rantanen will be worth the premium for the change of scenery alone

If Hayes were the GM he would have a triple A hockey team but all taking hometown discounts so he’s happy. 🤡 don’t even remember the days before we got superstars

TSN went from the only sports channel on cable TV to the RUclips channel that everyone makes fun of. Wow..keep doing what you're doing.

Alot of contracts arnt going to be so bad or look like steals later.
It's a bad time sign guys this off season because they will see projected growth and want big $$$
Guys who have previously signed 6-8yr deals are who should target.

17:25 if all 23 players base every year on keeping or raising their cap percentage then how do you every improve your team?

    Pay the same.

The thing is that every team will have the same amount of additional cap space so every new contract will increase. You won’t be adding players at today’s prices, they’ll cost significantly more.

$12M x 8 years for Marner. Not a penny more. It's obvious it doesn't work with Matthews, Tavares, Nylander, Marner, and Rielly getting all the money. The Leafs need to save some of this new cap space to bring in other talent. The Leafs are already spending an extra $5.4M next year when you factor in McCabe and Woll's extensions. If the Leafs just start handing out more massive contracts to the same players... they will never have a good enough team to make a deep playoff run.

Why all the hate on Mitch Marner. He is the best player on the team.

i really like MJ during the games but he really needs to stop making excuses for Leafs players demanding every single penny and doing nothing for the team in return. The COVID excuse is complete and utter nonsense because Tampa had to navigate the same cap restraints, had to sign the same amount of core pieces (Kucherov, Point, Vasilevskiy, Hedman) around the same time as the Leafs did, and they won 2 Cups and went to three straight finals with the stagnant cap. The Leafs core pieces demanded overpayment, or at minimum the upper end of "fair" value and have 1 playoff series win in 8 years. Why did Tampa navigate the cap easily?

Marner’s contract should match Matthews’ remaining term and dollars. Ink dries a couple minutes after they get destroyed in the first round again lololol. Clown ass team.
