      It is possible. Just make sure the rope is strong enough. Also consider that this pulley system is giving a 2x mechanical advantage. Add more pulleys and more rope to get more advantage.

      You attach the pulleys with the "jubilee clips" also called "hose clips". The wooden lift part just slides up and down the ladder and is not attached

      It looks like a black rubber mat which prevents the ladder to slide at the floor.

    How about no DIY shelf, no pulleys, no motor. Just the ladder, some rope and a 150 lb plank to get to the roof. Two people lifting. There's got to be a way.
