Hello IGP! Ryan here, the solo developer of the game! Once again I can't thank you enough for playing my game! I know I mostly say this on every of your video but I really do enjoy your content and get excited when I see you play man, it's always an honor seeing you play my game. I really really appreciate it dude and it makes my day every time. I'll be honest and share something I never really did, things haven't been the best lately but that's a part of life. I was also rejected by bigger publisher who wanted me to make changes because they felt my games were 'too dark' and wanted to turn my game into something totally different. But I just want to create the games I’m passionate about and tell the stories I want to tell. As long as people keep enjoying them and as long as my health allows it, I will keep doing my best. I’m incredibly grateful for all of your support being able to do this, because it's the reason I can keep doing what I love and what makes me happy. So I just want to say thank you, and I appreciate you all really! I'm sorry I put you through that in the end, I felt kind of bad now haha but I am glad you enjoyed the game! 😊 Thanks again to IGP and to everyone else - hope everyone enjoys it as well! Feel free to give me any feedback as it really helps me out! Have a wonderful day everyone 💙
Dude your game has blown up! Everyone is playing it and everyone's loving it! Stay to to yourself. Much love❤ can't wait to see what's next. I know it'll be fire!
Man, your game is actually awesome, reminds me of among the sleep, it's been years since i played and it was one of the first games i ever watched in yt, yours truly brought it back and it feels great, thank u so much for developing games like this, greetings from Uruguay
@@lol.953Yeah, but the monsters mostly come out at night.... mostly... IGP!!! Wait, Don't Go! I'm scared! My mommy always told me there were no REAL monsters, but there are, aren't there?! Why do they tell little kids that?
this shit hit me on a personal level, i OD'd on benadryl as a kid after convincing myself my parents would stop fighting if i was gone. was living nightmares for most of my elementary/middle school years as my brain was healing, and this game felt like it captured a bit of that feeling. solid work and thank you for being genuinely you throughout the playthrough, it helps ground the experience.
@@IGP I appreciate it, and to be fairly honest, yea, it was a hell that I still suffer the consequences of today. I consider myself very lucky in both surviving the experience, and finding the right people who've shown me that healing can look a lot less scary. It's honestly surreal just how much this game reminded me of my own audio/visual experience as a child, feeling like everything was so slightly off, and home being the place I feared the most.
@@IGP honestly IGP I love that you communicate with us in these comments. And OMG this game made me tear up, I'm a very empathetic person and can usually feel people's emotions, it happened with Edith finch when I played it and it happened with this game after I watched your video, I guess when it comes to things, well written games, movies and just people in general kinda do that to me😅 Great video as always man, may not have kids of my own yet but I could only imagine how you were feeling playing this game, great job.
@@vincenttrigg4521 honestly me too, I know what's it's like to take an attempt on your own life, not fun, not fun at all, kinda destroys the metal state.
“I’m gonna go hug my kids and tell them I love them” god dude, certified RUclips dad. This game, like you said, clearly plucked at your heartstrings. Thanks for such an amazing, heartfelt playthough, I know a lot of RUclipsrs struggle to be able to turn off the Content Creator brain for long enough to be that serious, and I love the way you do your videos.
Steelkrill is so fascinating. They dont just make horror. They explore horror. The real scary moments of this game is all the trauma this child is experiencing and not the monsters themselves. This is real horror that humans experience. Not some horrific cryptid or anything like that. True genuine fear that almost everybody can relate to.
I do appreciate you acknowledging that it might not be the dad who's bad. People always assume it's the men and sometimes it's just not. Apologies for being so serious for a moment.
It's not always the dad. My dad is a wonderful altruistic man. My mother ruined his life with the divorce when I was a baby. She lives a much better life than him in another state while I live with my dad and we struggle most of the time.
If you have watched IGP and Icy play Among the Sleep, which this game seems to be heavily influenced by, there is a twist that shows exactly that it’s not always the dad who is the monster, but the hero!
In the US at least, mothers are almost twice as likely to be ‘the bad one,’ at least for the child. At least by the numbers. It’s most likely because mothers are more often awarded custody than fathers or some other factor, I don’t know. With that last bit in mind-It’s BOTH equally, sadly. I may be biased, since I had two mothers and they both were horrendous people, attacked by father for as long as they could. I’m so grateful he never gave up even after I became an adult. But the courts awarding custody to mothers much more than fathers also partly allows for mothers to get away with it when they otherwise might not. My father fought for me until I was not longer a minor and never was given custody. There are no factors that should have prevented him from being awarded custody-not financially, not medically, NOTHING. Too many stories of fathers fighting for their children and the court continues to say ‘no.’ And Dad gets blamed and might be handing over child support his baby may never see. This ignores many of the other family dynamics at play here, but this is a topic that I hold dear to my heart, forgive me for getting on my soap box.
@@florpleborp2275the thing is, statistically fathers are likely to get custody IF they actually fight for it. the thing is, the way men are raised, very few want that sole responsibility. not that there arent any bad mothers that fight battles with good dads, but the reason a majority of kids go to the mothers is simply the way women and men are conditioned by society. women are ""supposed"" to be the primary caretakers, and its a thankless job that many men know they dont want to deal with
My little brother was a massive fan of horror stuff, even though he was 5! We let him watch stuff as he was terminally ill, but he genuinely enjoyed it. He had a cartoon cat plushie that he wouldn’t go anywhere without. I miss you Toby, hope you’re enjoying some awesome horror movies up there
I know some people might say stuff like “oh you shouldn’t have let him watch that stuff at that age” but screw them, this is endearing as hell and he better be having a good time watching those horror films. I hope you kept the plushie too.
this hit way too close to home i am a bit of an over protective brother myself with my little bro and i sometimes have nightmares of something bad happening to him which makes my protective instinct to kick into overdrive but besides the point as one brother to another i will say hes doing great where he is
As an adult who has lived through childhood trauma for 17 years of my life. This game depicts my nightmares. We had a downstairs in our house. Every nightmare I had when I was little was of watching skeletons crawling up out of the concrete floor in our basement, and chasing me up the stairs. For me, hearing abuse (mental and physical) will make a child be afraid of either parent. So for me, this game isn’t one parent. It’s both.
This has to be and one in only game where you're playing as a toddler and experiencing what it like in their POV. They can't talk, but they understand things good or bad (toy wise, even though it a video game, pretty sure in the real world toddler's understand words from what parent's are saying to them by expression).
Among the Sleep did the toddler thing many years ago, but I love Steelkrill's take on it. So many aspects tying into the lore for the kid in this one. Both games are fantastic.
my heart dropped as soon as i heard the parents screaming at each other... any child who goes through that.. they don't deserve it. if you have, i give you the absolute biggest hug and all of my love. you didn't deserve that.
This and Among the Sleep are some of the coolest games because of the fact you play from a child’s perspective. You can easily make simple, unassuming things look terrifying because that’s how kids see things! We need more horror like that
Okay I just want to put my theory out there I'm only at 32:14 in the video and I can already pretty much guarantee you. That those mannequins they're like cutting in half or the red bear that lays there giving you items. Sometimes those represent dead bodies, but the kid in the game can't perceive where death is. So that's what he sees destroyed toys. I just want to throw that out there
4:09 the parents fighting has the be the most frightening and traumatic thing I’ve heard in a horror game. Growing up in a house like that gives a whole new meaning to the story. Props to the actors, dude. 🥲
Just another reason why I absolutely adore you, IGP. I didn’t think there was another person like me who is so heavily affected by things having to do with children being hurt or scared or sad. Even before I became a mother, it was like that. I can’t even watch the movie Poltergeist because I am so viscerally affected by Carol Anne screaming to her mommy for help through the TV. I heard you choking back the pain and the tears in your voice when the baby’s voice came through during the parent’s argument. Being a parent just changes you, man.
90 minute horror game video to watch at night? Hell yes. Congrats on 3 million subscribers Indy! I’m so happy for your success, can’t wait to see you hit the next milestone!
So I want to mention this as I picked it up upon IGP playing and making up his mind on how the game would end, the Monster using Mother's voice was a smart touch. I believe it was a lure mechanism for Aiden to come out of hiding. Aiden felt secure and happy around his Mother, and upon seeing the ending, how Father was drunk and beat up his wife. Father still in drunken state tried to lure out Aiden with soft voice just like how Aiden's mother did. "Aiden, it's me. Your mother'' the monster using that probably masking the Father using those lines to lure Aiden out of hiding.
Dude, sometimes my stepmother would act like she wasn't mad and say sweet shit like the monster in this game to me just to beat me, don't rule out that the mom was doing it just because the dad is a POS as well
I didn't get those father hugs you mentioned at the end, and i swear, i swear im crying, thank you so much for being a dad for your kids and telling them you love them, i can really tell that they will never forget those words. Besides that, i love how you just talk with us trought all of your videos, love you igp:)
I love your empathy for other children and the obvious deep, deep love for your child. It’s so wonderful to hear a father talking about how much they love their family and to see an emotionally open man. I think you are a great role model, even if you don’t mean to be. You’re what a man should be. Open and loving and affectionate and fiercely protective. Thank you for showing this to your young audience.
Seeing you genuinely sad at the end hits like a train, I just know your an amazing parent to your kids and I'm sure they are so happy to have the best youtuber out there as a father and a loving one at that, I'm so glad to have stumbled across your channel so please keep it up man!
For those who r new to Andy's channel he is a father himself so he is speaking in a father's heart, and he doesn't like how most children r from their parents
This game was intense, definitely some dark subject matter. I like the idea of ‘scary’ toys being good and ‘friendly’ ones being deceptive, but I felt like it was a little underutilized with the design of the monster stalking us being pretty much equally as scary as the toys were. Obviously you still want the monster of your game to feel intimidating but honestly, i think it could work if the monster was a little closer to conventional ‘cuteness’. (I say this as a kid who was terrified of Beanie Boos because of their enormous eyeballs, my dad used to hide them around the house and I’d get freaked out seeing their glittery eyes staring out from a dark crevice.) But plot wise, DAMN. Anything that covers bad parental relationships and how they affect the kid, goes right for my heart.
Story time: I VAGUELY remember daycare. Around 18+ months at least. I don't remember the circumstance, but during nap time I SOME HOW managed to go outside in the backyard and bring the sprinkler inside. Not sure if I brought it in then turned it on or if it was all ready on. The lady that watched us was a very patient Jamaican. I was a... sneaky (?) kid. Dad was in the Navy, so we lived in naval housing since I was born until about 4 years old. In that time, I managed to dump an entire paint can on the hardwood floor and 'hide' it under a rug, wake up in the middle of the night and eat a stick and a half of butter before barfing all over the hallway, set my dad's pillow on fire, and have a hot iron fall on top of my hand (which had me in a zinc lotion/ointment wrap for a bit). To my mom's credit, she was also caring for newborn twins while dad was working. I knew not to touch dad's handgun though.... I am an ELDER millennial (Xillenial?). My folks are boomers, rub dirt on a cut kind of people. So we sorta were allowed to run amok. I got all my dumbass moments out of my system before age 5... I don't ever recall having odd perceptions of things that scared me. Honestly, I think I gave my folks nightmares. T_T.
hearing the argument, and the visuals and sound drop really brought back some ptsd haha. I have trauma from my dad, my whole family does, and seeing your parent as a monster is really what it feels like. Im older now, 20. seeing these games are definitely an experience again I find these interesting when people include parent fighting, it touches into many peoples hearts and minds. laying out what some people went through, and as that someone, its fairly well done. the calling out, distorted feelings, props to the dev. I like the many things you point out, like the distortion in the mothers voice. I know not many people would wanna read someone else's trauma, but these kinds of games really hit home, and they are done really well. and as usual, played well by our one and only IGP. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk, I hope the people who watch this video heal from their trauma, and know they are loved
If I was there the time you wrote it. I’ll definitely give you a big hug, patting your back and saying “It’s okay now…” I’m 36 today, but it’s still affect my behaviors when things related to him. I can still remember the day when I was still at junior high, seeing my mom being beaten and crying on the floor. People won’t easily spread their trauma to others. So a simple hug would be enough to heal. Fingers crossed for you.
All those slap made me jump on my chair in shock, thats messed up, its a horror game but man does it bring something good, awareness to something that should never exist. Also, not enough stunt for that trike man!
Same to you, @R0seBird. This game definitely touched on memories from my childhood. I remember doing a reflective writing exercise once about how my love for horror stemmed from the fact that the idea of monsters in my closet or under the bed was less scary to me as a child because of the very real monster living in my house (my father). Half the reason I was drawn to the movie monsters was the idea of having them as my "scary friends" and what it'd be like if they were protection from him so within minutes of this video I was like, is this where this game is going? It's a very sad thing for a child to grow up indifferent to fantasy horror or even drawn to it because they've had a parent create real horror for them and this game has done a very good job of tapping into that childhood headspace I had and others may have had. For everyone else who has known that experience, my heart goes out to you and I also hope you continue to heal from that trauma.
@@Raptured_Night Yep pretty much, all of my childhood and teenage time had to become "be scarier than the other" specialy when i went in foster home and juvie, that was another can of even worst worm in my case, at least i knew my dad trigger!
This hit me way too hard. The way the kid "dreams" and processes everything is almost identical to how I did as a kid, the nightmares haunt me even as an adult. Yet, I have no memories of my actual childhood, all I know is from second hand accounts, and extremely vague memories of emotional responses I had to certain events. Makes me wonder how much I've forgotten because my mind forcibly locked away the memories as a safety measure.
You always find some of the coolest horror games and I’m here for it. Been watching for a few years and the content has never let me down, much love IGP and keep up the good work❤
As someone who had to deal with this around the same age, you never really forget. Almost 40 years later, I still remember the yelling, the crying, the abuse, and the beer cans all over. This game captures it in a chilling way. Not many tend to touch on subject like this in the way SteelKrill does, each of their games have had the same harrowing effect, but are so well done I can't really say it is a bad thing.
Just finished... and the title was NOT kidding... i can rewatch and still not be ready! That was AWESOME! Thanks for the amazing content as always IGP! Congrats on the ever-growing channel!!! ❤❤❤🎉
had a super crappy day but IGP posted so maybe it’s not too crappy. your videos always cheer me up man, can’t wait to watch this one and many more after.
I’m 20-30 minutes in and I’m putting in my theory, both of the parents are bad people, the Father is more physical, taking out his rage on objects, whereas the mother is more mental, physiologically harming her child by pushing horrible thoughts into her child’s mind. The intro/tutorial is how the child pictured what happened, the father being this aggressive beast that chases him around, causing the Aiden to run away. He is then found by his mother, who, very creepily, calls out to him, attempting to kidnap Aiden it seems, before his father swoops in and grabs him. They seem to view Aiden as a trophy, a tool to hurt eachother, not loving Aiden, only what they can do with him, not wanting the other one to have him because they love hurting them. I also see another possibility where Aiden doesn’t understand what’s going on, and sees his father as a bully, but he is actually trying to protect his son from this despicable side of the mother that has shown itself. This one is less likely though, since it’s similar to another one of their games.
Well. I’m sorry Aiden’s mum. God, this game double subverted my expectations, at first you think it’s going to be the classic dad hurts wife, but then it completely flips itself, making you think it’s the mother who’s the villain, only to show it’s actually the Dad again. This is the only game I’ve ever watched or played that’s made me feel ANYTHING like this. I don’t have kids, I’m not married, I don’t even have a partner, hell, my parents are still alright with eachother post divorce. But this game, it made me feel like I knew this child’s pain and trauma. With red bellies hand sticking up at the end, showing that he’ll never escape his father mentally. I’m going to go hug my cat and cry a bit whilst I watch this again now.
Hearing you talk about parenting throughout this is like heartbreaking. I think I would have been a lot happier if my parents were more like you, you're amazing
Dude, an IGP video over an hour long is absolutely perfect for me right now. My parents are celebrating their wedding anniversary (they left me behind because I'm a little shit) so they'll be out for a while, leaving me home alone. Just gotta get snacks and I'm set until they get back.
IGP I want to thank you for being a comforting presence during this watch. I love your videos and have watched many of them throughout me growing up and you've always brought me Comfort and Entertainment for years. It took me a bit to finally watch the video due to the Contents of it and how it affects me but when I finally decided to Sit and watch it I'm happy it was you who was plaything through it. You've helped me get through this amazing game and see what it's all about and I appreciate it. Keep Doing what you're Doing. 💜
As someone named Aiden, this video had me straight up having another type of reaction. I genuinely felt immersed in the story and it was just....great, absolutely fantastic. Great video as always IGP.
I can tell everytime IGP pauses walking that this game is actually getting to him. I mean, it was getting to me too, but man... Its heartbreaking to hear both the story and IGP's reaction to it.
That was the saddest thing I've ever witnessed in a video game! Well done dev! And well done to you good sir, the one and only IGP! I love your content my friend and the way you express your thoughts....😢
i grew up in a very harsh household lets say that, so this game and story really hit me hard and i have to say it its very good demonstrated i hope the dev gets the support he needs. truly amazing story writing
So eerie! The sound effects and the interactions brings out the games creepiness and helps us to really feel the toddler's experience. Way to go Steelkrill!
Man this playthrough hit hard in so many ways. Going from feeling sad to angry to just completely heartbroken and the cycle continued. Thanks for sharing the playthrough IGP. I don't think I could ever play this game myself.
Despite all the depressing things happening in the story what truly brought tears to my eyes was the end when you said you are going to hug your kids and tell them you love them. It really hit hard and I have nothing but respect for you IGP. I wish you and your family nothing but the absolute best from the bottom of heart. Have an amazing night and I'll see you in your next video.
I will say as someone who grew up in a similar environment and was told “you have a good life compared to others” etc, learning as i grew older that no it wasnt ok what was happening. Hearing a youtuber care and really feel for the situation is nice. Appreciate you as a human IGP❤️
God I love the way you play horror games like these, not playing for the action but for the story. The way you immerse yourself into the characters and environments is super engaging, and the theories you craft on the fly are super interesting to listen to on top of super entertaining gameplay. I love how much you explore environments as well instead of just flying through them like most other letsplayers, and not just in this game but all of the games you play. You're probably one of if not my favorite youtuber on the platform and i hope you keep making content like this forever
Hits close to home, hearing the baby cry while the parents argue and shit gets thrown was gut wrenching, thanks for your super good understanding of parent relationships while playing this IGP
There's a game called "It's Just a Prank" where you snitch on your friend when her dad calls you, and the screams of that girl after that are horrifying. I don't get scared or emotional easily but that shit had my heart thumping. The game also forces you to sit through the call and screams.
I’ve been watching you for years and have enjoyed every second of watching you explore and experience every genre of games. Laughs, scares, edge of your seat suspense but this game truly opened up a whole new range of emotions. The empathy in your voice for Aidan, “I’m going to go hug my kids” comment. Thank you for continuing to play these games and giving us, your audience, a truly unforgettable experience. As for the developer, please continue to make whatever your heart desires no matter what other “larger” companies say. This was incredible. That darkness they said you should steer away from is what had me truly invested in this game.
I'm a mental health practitioner who works with these kinds of kids later in life when they're teenagers, and it's so heartbreaking how often this kind of thing happens in our society. I come from a really fucked up home too. I can't change my own past, but I can help them change their futures. But the stories I've heard will live with my for the rest of my life. Poor kids. No one deserves that
I don't usually watch your videos immediately when they come out, not because the videos are bad, but because they need to be savored. Each video is something special, so I like to draw it out to enjoy them. Usually saving them for when I'm laying in bed at three A.M. and unable to sleep. I cannot say the amount of times I have gone back and rewatched videos, especially the multiplayer horror games.
I watched Skilly play it first, but I've cried with both yours and his playthroughs. I couldn't possibly imagine putting my daughter through that. Christ.
While the premise of playing as a toddler is similar to Among the Sleep, this story is MUCH darker. I agree, though, I'm like 90% sure this is related to Stairway 7. Such heavy subjects in these indie games, man. I'm a parent of 3 and this whole story HURTS.
First off, I cannot believe that this game was made by a single person. That’s insane! Second, congrats to Indy for hitting 3 million! Finally, Jesus Crimminy Christmas this game is absolutely terrifying. Watching the tutorial section I was considering playing it for my channel but after seeing the rest of it...Uh-uh, no fuckin way.
This game is great and I loved watching you play it, the game has some minor bugs but that’s to be expected and I can’t hate on it because it hits home so hard
This honestly made me feel so sad really. No child deserves to go through something like that. But the bad thing is that it happens to too many kids. I wish I could give that baby a hug. I just finished the video now and my god this kind of horror hurts me rather than scare me tbh.
This took me back to Among the Sleep, which is probably one of my favorite games ever played on this channel. It's so heartbreaking how this turns out. Another great video IGP! ❤
I know its an old game and IGP may have already played it in his times, still I would absolutely love to see a trip down memory lane and watch indie play condemned dude he would love it.
parents fighting ring real horror, this was such good video it made me cry, hearing horrible parents fighting each another, makes you think of your own life and such. good times and bad, keep up good work igp, love your videos man!
I'm at 27 minutes and I'm starting to think that looks like some sort of laboratory for testing. Also I apparently didn't like daycare one time my mum spoke about the past and I apparently hiked over the fence and started to follow them home somehow so I couldn't perceived it as a safe place
Just finished watching…. And I can’t stop sobbing. My daughter is a teenager now, but she will never be too big for me to scoop her up and hold her in my arms. “I love you forever, I like you for always. As long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be….” ❤
As someone with not the greatest childhood, this game is super uncomfortable and unsettling. Which is praise for Steelkrill to some degree; the variance in setting/themes per game is so different and grounded in itself. Honestly pretty peak. A piece of art is only "great" if it evokes some kind of response from you...
hey IGP! i remember this channel being under 1m subscribers. Seeing more and more people love your tastes really makes me appreciate the community you developed. Happy 3m!
Watched this with my husband, we both didn’t have the best childhoods and were vowing to do it differently for our two kids. One of which I gave birth to last week. We both felt like shit at the end, just hit a little too close to home for the two of us.
I also love how safe rooms are not actually safe, cuz why do they have lockers. And when the monster arrived and IGP hid somewhere, anywhere, I realised that it's not just making the game more difficult. but also almost depriving you from safety. Such a good game with unique monsters and lore. The atmosphere is crazy!❤️🔥
I watched Skilly's play through and he was ADHDed the whole game (his own admission) and even he didn't miss the chocolates at the beginning. I laughed so hard when IGP walked passed them 😂
I watched Skilly's playthrough, and he noted something that, when he said it, i thought it didnt make much sense, but he noted the (possibility at the very least, but it does make a lot of sense) Kid is actually autistic. His playthrough is... Typical Skilly lol but i enjoy hearing him share his thoughts hahahaha
I thought that too towards the end, but I think the game was going for the trauma causing him to retreat to comfort items like the dolls and the show. Hard to separate reality from fiction when you are lost in the fiction trying to escape the hell that is your home and the monsters in it. Not to spoil anything for the other viewers, but the ending really ties it all together that the parents were not aware of the damage they were doing to the child with their toxic relationship with each other.
@@IGP Yeah, i agree. Except that at the start, as the mother is telling the bedtime story, she does say "he was a kid different from the others", which is something i was also told in my childhood (i'm autistic and the b#### i got by being autistic lol) anyways, sorry for that, and the fact that Aiden specifically picks ugly dolls, or the least nice looking ones, because, as his mother says it, "he doesn't like leaving them alone". But your thought process makes so very much sense too. The constant arguments and yelling could have made Aiden attempt to hide in his own world (btw, Autism, in ancient Greek, means, "in one's world") by evading other kids (the yelling) and the nice looking dolls (not being left aside, the whole "fake nice smile" and stuff). Also, thanks for reading my comment, IGP (was gonna call you Indie but That's your choice). I always love a good chat about a great game/movie. Peace!
This was genuinely difficult to watch. I teared up several times in the beginning, the argument, the kid crying... One of the reasons I like watching your content is that you don't make fun/light of games like this, you acknowledge how impactful it is. And I appreciate that.
Thanks for the video, IGP. I guess I gotta take a break from studying LMFAO. Also, fright month is coming. I can't wait for the videos you'll show us with the numerous games that might pop out from that month!!
.... That parent argument was too real for a game. That's just sadness on top of horror.
thats actually a free sound clip you can find online, ive used it before for a song. if you are talking about the one in the beginning.
I wanna stop watching after hearing the babies voice. I want to go wake my son up and hug him.

Hey, you did amazing. As someone who's been in a similar thing, not murder, but the abuse as a child, you done well representing it. It hit hard
Because sometimes, the real monsters come in a nice way and in a friendly face. Those words ring true
It's those friendly faces that cut deeper

IGP!!! Wait, Don't Go! I'm scared! My mommy always told me there were no REAL monsters, but there are, aren't there?! Why do they tell little kids that?
@@FilthTribeFTP We are told there are no monsters when we are kids, when we get older we realize that we are the monsters
this shit hit me on a personal level, i OD'd on benadryl as a kid after convincing myself my parents would stop fighting if i was gone. was living nightmares for most of my elementary/middle school years as my brain was healing, and this game felt like it captured a bit of that feeling. solid work and thank you for being genuinely you throughout the playthrough, it helps ground the experience.
Goddamn, I'm sorry that happened to you. Must have been hell...
Glad you're still around, hope that's all healed for you in all ways possible.
And OMG this game made me tear up, I'm a very empathetic person and can usually feel people's emotions, it happened with Edith finch when I played it and it happened with this game after I watched your video, I guess when it comes to things, well written games, movies and just people in general kinda do that to me😅
Great video as always man, may not have kids of my own yet but I could only imagine how you were feeling playing this game, great job.
I'm glad you survived. I hope life is treating you better than it was ❤
@@vincenttrigg4521 honestly me too, I know what's it's like to take an attempt on your own life, not fun, not fun at all, kinda destroys the metal state.
Facts, man.
Sometimes it's dad, sometimes it's mom, sometimes it's both, and not even being horrible, just flawed.
Too many stories of fathers fighting for their children and the court continues to say ‘no.’
And Dad gets blamed and might be handing over child support his baby may never see.
This ignores many of the other family dynamics at play here, but this is a topic that I hold dear to my heart, forgive me for getting on my soap box.
@@florpleborp2275the thing is, statistically fathers are likely to get custody IF they actually fight for it. the thing is, the way men are raised, very few want that sole responsibility. not that there arent any bad mothers that fight battles with good dads, but the reason a majority of kids go to the mothers is simply the way women and men are conditioned by society. women are ""supposed"" to be the primary caretakers, and its a thankless job that many men know they dont want to deal with
this is the type of game that makes me want to spawn in the game's world and protect the baby at any cost.
The anger I felt at the end was palpable, I was legit clenching my hands so hard that my nails left marks on my hands.
My little brother was a massive fan of horror stuff, even though he was 5! We let him watch stuff as he was terminally ill, but he genuinely enjoyed it. He had a cartoon cat plushie that he wouldn’t go anywhere without. I miss you Toby, hope you’re enjoying some awesome horror movies up there
Bro this made me cry 😢😢

I’m crying rn that’s really sad I hope ur doing better
We got Among The Sleep tho?
@@IGPhonestly I thought about among the sleep again when you posted this, been years since I heard about it last
@@IGP Agreed. I've actually had ideas for like, a similar idea myself, in terms of toddler horror, cause IMO, it's arguably scarier
my heart dropped as soon as i heard the parents screaming at each other... any child who goes through that.. they don't deserve it. if you have, i give you the absolute biggest hug and all of my love. you didn't deserve that.
I just want to throw that out there
this theory intrigued me. With the child's limited knowledge of reality, what they see is made up of what they know.

I can promise you that alot of people are like you and IGP. My heart aches so much when I see or hear children getting hurt or being scared.. :(
Im genuinely struggling to watch this right now at 11:58. My daughter is 10mo old
Most people are like that, a large majority of people hate it when children are harmed in any way
90 minute horror game video to watch at night? Hell yes. Congrats on 3 million subscribers Indy! I’m so happy for your success, can’t wait to see you hit the next milestone!
Erm, it's actually 85 minutes 🤓☝️
So I want to mention this as I picked it up upon IGP playing and making up his mind on how the game would end, the Monster using Mother's voice was a smart touch. I believe it was a lure mechanism for Aiden to come out of hiding. Aiden felt secure and happy around his Mother, and upon seeing the ending, how Father was drunk and beat up his wife. Father still in drunken state tried to lure out Aiden with soft voice just like how Aiden's mother did. "Aiden, it's me. Your mother'' the monster using that probably masking the Father using those lines to lure Aiden out of hiding.
Dude, sometimes my stepmother would act like she wasn't mad and say sweet shit like the monster in this game to me just to beat me, don't rule out that the mom was doing it just because the dad is a POS as well
Made it through the whole video fine and then teared up when you said you were going to hug your kids and tell them you loved them 😭😭😭
I didn't get those father hugs you mentioned at the end, and i swear, i swear im crying, thank you so much for being a dad for your kids and telling them you love them, i can really tell that they will never forget those words.
"How would this kid know how to use a screwdriver?"
Clearly, someone has forgotten about Rugrats.
I was screaming "Tommy Pickles!" at my screen lol
(I say this as a kid who was terrified of Beanie Boos because of their enormous eyeballs, my dad used to hide them around the house and I’d get freaked out seeing their glittery eyes staring out from a dark crevice.)
But plot wise, DAMN. Anything that covers bad parental relationships and how they affect the kid, goes right for my heart.
Could have used a porcelain face and a somewhat tattered suit/dress since those lil fuckers are creepy as all hells
Im older now, 20. seeing these games are definitely an experience again
I find these interesting when people include parent fighting, it touches into many peoples hearts and minds. laying out what some people went through, and as that someone, its fairly well done. the calling out, distorted feelings, props to the dev.
I’ll definitely give you a big hug, patting your back and saying “It’s okay now…”
I’m 36 today, but it’s still affect my behaviors when things related to him.
I can still remember the day when I was still at junior high, seeing my mom being beaten and crying on the floor.
People won’t easily spread their trauma to others.
So a simple hug would be enough to heal.
Fingers crossed for you.
@@許鎬元 you are so kind 😭😭😭 thank you. one simple hug really would be the start of enough. comfort sent your way as well
All those slap made me jump on my chair in shock, thats messed up, its a horror game but man does it bring something good, awareness to something that should never exist.

The beginning of this, the arguing killed me, just bad memories bruh
had a super crappy day but IGP posted so maybe it’s not too crappy. your videos always cheer me up man, can’t wait to watch this one and many more after.
keep your head up, hope you enjoy
I was one of those kids in that kind of experience, it’s crazy to watch someone get so emotional over something I’m so numb about
I’m 20-30 minutes in and I’m putting in my theory, both of the parents are bad people, the Father is more physical, taking out his rage on objects, whereas the mother is more mental, physiologically harming her child by pushing horrible thoughts into her child’s mind.

As someone named Aiden, this video had me straight up having another type of reaction. I genuinely felt immersed in the story and it was just....great, absolutely fantastic. Great video as always IGP.
I can tell everytime IGP pauses walking that this game is actually getting to him.

Another classic IGP video where he's yelling about how to do something within seconds of it telling him in plain text XD
that argument reminds me of my childhood home...
Oh my god the parents arguing in the beginning was so realistic scary.

I was hoping you were going to play this. Among the Sleep is one of my favorites and this one looked like it was along the same vein.

Reminded me immediately of Among the Sleep. The twist in that game was amazing.
Nice to see IGP mention Among The Sleep again. That was the game that jumpscared him so badly he broke the window he was sat next to. Outstanding!
I didn't even recognize this as a steelkrill game. Their games are always masterpieces
parents fighting ring real horror, this was such good video it made me cry, hearing horrible parents fighting each another, makes you think of your own life and such. good times and bad, keep up good work igp, love your videos man!
I hope you both are doing well today.👍
I also love how safe rooms are not actually safe, cuz why do they have lockers. And when the monster arrived and IGP hid somewhere, anywhere, I realised that it's not just making the game more difficult. but also almost depriving you from safety.
Such a good game with unique monsters and lore. The atmosphere is crazy!❤️🔥
This definitely feels like a spiritual successor to among the sleep. If not very inspired by
I was gonna say it felt more like a rip off of it, but...
Same dev I believe!

I watched Skilly's play through and he was ADHDed the whole game (his own admission) and even he didn't miss the chocolates at the beginning. I laughed so hard when IGP walked passed them 😂
THEY RELEASED THE FULL GAME ??? LESSS GOOOO
My dream is to have enough money to watch igp in my own movie theater. The thought of it makes me happy as hell.
The most terrifying thing is being betrayed by the ones you care and love.
Especially if the betrayal is in form of something irreversible.
I was still a middle schooler when I saw a few RUclipsrs played Among The Sleep. Now I’m an adult seeing this game and I feel old already.

I wasnt ready for the trauma in this one. I almost cried at that last walk. Hearing the story. Dang
And I appreciate that.
im only half way through, but notice how most of the daycare doors have no handles, only locks
42:55 Imagine going into a daycare and seeing that drawn onto the wall... That would freak me out O.o
My brothers in horror games, why am I watching this at night!?
I asked myself the same damn question
Thanks for the video, IGP. I guess I gotta take a break from studying LMFAO.
Also, fright month is coming. I can't wait for the videos you'll show us with the numerous games that might pop out from that month!!
