This game demonstrates why sound designers are important. I don't know if the voice actors or recording engineer were experienced in their craft, but it certainly sounds like they are, and those skills can be taught. Even the music sounds pretty good, despite the fact that a non-composer put it together (some parts of the MIDI work are choppy, but as a whole, not a criticism), which makes me applaud the job well done.
Pretty cool story here: I know the dev did at least some of the soundtrack himself, and he also had me produce the song towards the end and had my brother do the voice acting. For my part I’m nowhere near pro level production, but David (the dev) had such good vision for everything that the music and voice acting really came together beautifully in the end. Great example of what passion, vision, and hard work can accomplish.

You know it's such a good balance of farming sim and horror because even though I'm an absolute weenie at horror games, I'm super tempted to buy the full game when it comes out just because of how satisfying the farming part looks haha
I agree. While I enjoy the mystery and the horror aspect of this game (albeit not that much yet), I can't help but feel like I'll enjoy farming more. Like, I wanna cut those tree stumps, weeds, and grasses myself because that's satisfying to me somehow, to see the entire land clean and clear. And I also wanna plant those tomatoes in an orderly line. Nothing against the way he did it, I guess the neat freak in me kept kicking in. 😅
Insym's sense of priorities is worrisome. *As a stranger breaks into his home with an axe, howling like a banshee while his house is on fire:* "JUST A MINUTE, I'M BUILDING ANOTHER COOP! WAAAAIIIT"
@italiankidspaghetti2383 facts brotha, even with a shotgun id run so fast I'd do that classic cartoon trope of running in place before speeding off a few seconds later
I am so excited for the full release of this game. The way how the dev(s) used a certain element within the game to check your haunt level was a unique concept that I loved and the feeling of looking over your shoulder in anticipation of what may come and get you. The game had beautiful moments of the uncertainty of the unknown and fear as well as walking away from the past. So grateful you found this and shared it with us all. This is my definition of hauntingly beautiful. Thank you 🙏
The concept comes from Amnesia the dark descent. in it a specific picture of a person will change to look horrified if your sanity was low. This game takes that to the next level tho by giving it multiple versions based on how badly it is.
This game has the potential to be as good as Still Wakes the Deep. Great voice acting, good mechanics, smooth gameplay, and full of attention to details.
I love how they combined physical and metaphysical endangerment with the serenity of routine farm life and strategic planning. (I don't want to spoil anything, so I am purposefully vague. I loved the demo! I played it a few days ago and I was thrilled I saw Insym is streaming it.)
When you heard the creepy noise outside and looked out of the window, I looked closer at the screen. It cut to an advert with a woman screaming.... scariest part of the video so far 😂
1:02:02 my mom is the best tomato grower in the world. She would grew two (yes TWO plants), they would get as tall as the house roof and 5 feet in diameter. We literally had infinite tomatoes in the summer. We use to go knock on neighbors doors and beg them to take some. We supplied our whole extended family and neighborhood with tomatoes for 10 summers. We had to pick them twice a day! Boy I miss those tomatoes, they were the best tasting
We did that one year, it was my wife's first garden and we had so many tomatoes we couldn't give enough away. It was like magic the amount of maters that came of those plants
So “bought the farm“ is like an idiom for dying, at least in the United States. I’m not sure elsewhere. I wonder if that’s euphemism or a hint that maybe the main character is actually deceased?
Definitely an intentional use of the term, but I think it's a bit tired for main characters to be dead the whole time, lol. It's just thematic building, I'm sure
in the beginning of the game he couldn't move at all while driving. what if he died in car accident then and everything after that is just his purgatory?
I thought it was kind of obvious he's supposed to be dead which is why it works, they're not trying to hide it exactly. He's completely alone, doesn't eat, and refers to his time here as eternity.
I'm stuck in the hospital and the only good thing about it is that I can watch as many Insym videos as I want:) My guy, I've been here with you since 200k subs, can't wait for you to finally reach that 1 million you deserve!
@@JeffReams Man, I remember the WTTG verse days. I can't believe how far he's come after streaming Phasmo almost daily for like over a year. Branching out again really boosted his growth
Honestly blown away by the quality on display. Having played the demo myself, not only is the presentation incredible, but the variety of jumpscares and horror is incredible. My ending had different effects entirely than what you had here. Very excited for the full release of the game.
I really appreciate how you value voice acting. So many games are riddled with actors doing what I call "anime dub acting". It's really nice to see appreciation for acting that sounds more natural. And kudos to @DavidWehleGames on this game, it's story, and the aforementioned voice direction!
Kinda just want to point out, they had the sun rise in the west and set in the east, it's the other way, noticed when they said the cans to shoot was on the east side of the house
I put my money on mental illness. Because he sees stuff that isn't there and the sun setting and rising on the wrong side might just be part of it. Clearly something bad happened as an adult but it seems to also reach back to his childhood.
Lots of ancient religions associated the setting of the sun in the west with death or the land of the dead; having it rise in the west may be intentional if people are right about the death theme
That final scares was perfect, at least in my eyes, the game leaves you questioning the Shed Note for so long before it hits, and it's silent, no startling stinger, just pure terror
45:30 best moment hands down. Also absolutely lovely game, the forest is gorgeous and the mechanics are pretty cool (like petting the cat), the ambiance is so immersive.
Just this demo is more of a complete horror experience than half the indie horror games out there!! I can't wait to see the full version! (and after seeing a comment about the dev, I truly hope we do get the full release! I'd easily watch dozens of hours of this game!) And a side note... I had an emotional day, but the beginning/afternoon of that final day actually made me cry. Literally, tears streaming down the face crying. The cutscene, the song, the shadows in the field vanishing once pursued... I dunno, there was such an atmosphere to it, it was unique and truly, truly stunning to see in a game. I don't know if I've ever been hit in the feels so hard by a game demo, ever. Not many full games stack up to that level either. This dev's truly got a talent and an artistry for their craft.
The fact that I wanted to play it myself but also couldn't stop watching Insym's video is both a testament to the game devs and Insym's entertaining personality.
I'm not normally someone who tears up or cries during games/movies but the voice acting in this demo alone made me tear up multiple times, it's utterly incredible! I cannot wait to see what this game has in store with the official release
1:18:10 The To-Do list lets you sleep EARLIER than nightfall. All you had to do was stand near the bed for 4 minutes instead of running around for 3.5 minutes.
looks like a game taking from the horror tv series called From, where on day is all normal and at night monsters comes out. would be cool to have a horror game about that series.
That game looks very cool with unique mechanics! Looking forward to seeing you play it on full release. Also, regarding the running water in the middle of nowhere thing - some off-grid homesteads have pumps that filter and provide water from a local well to the house. Didn't see one here, but that would make sense
That ending was so silent hill, game looks amazing, im guessing when she tried saving the deer she got hit with a car. He stared to long and caused him to fall apart.
Running water in rural settings isn't a mystery or magic. Ostensibly, your house would have a water pump, if it has electricity. And a well would be a given, too.
I swear I remember that exit and had immediate flashbacks to the time I lived upstate NY. In a small cabin. Spooky stuff happened. This game made me so emotional because of the memories. I'm just glad the interior of the house is completely different
We 100% have farms that are most likely haunted. The Halloween season up here is amazing. Throw in the tons of abandoned factories and psych wards and it can be pretty fun
I played a bit of the demo, and the nights where some things are mega-spooky raised the hairs on the back of my neck, and gave me chills like nothing else. Really great atmosphere in this game so far.
I clicked on this because I have been brainstorming a horror farming game for a while, but a lot of the things that would make it different will be directly related to it being in Arkansas. The major crops that would be the most lucrative would be rice, soybeans, cotton, and corn just like Arkansas grows in real life. The summers would be very hot and humid, the area would be prone to thunderstorms that can produce tornadoes, and ice storms happen during the winter causing the roads to ice over. The main demon will be a symbol of the corruption in small towns from meth and the opioid epidemic. (I'd have to make it an obvious enough theme that people can pick up on it without it being too preachy) I would want the harvesting to take longer so it's more of an investment, and I prefer going into town like you can in Stardew Valley. I'd probably have it centered around the really small unincorporated community your farm is in (basically a gas station, a hair salon in someone's house, an antique store), a small nearby town (Farm supply store, dollar store to buy food at, fast food restaurants, a donut shop, a bar, and a family diner), and a larger town with the "Walmart" and some strip malls with more varieties of stores and restaurants. Like real small towns in the US, there would be a food desert (large distance between grocery stores) which is why you would often get groceries at the gas station, dollar store, and the "Walmart." Food would be important because it fills up your stamina, but you'll need to eat 3 meals throughout the day to be able to work all day without napping. Sleeping wouldn't fill it all the way up, and you'd need to eat dinner at night and breakfast in the morning to do so. (Or a much larger breakfast) I think the game should start with you having some food in your kitchen that needs to be replenished after a while so a player would get used to needing to actually eat throughout the day. The second town would have had a grocery store in the past but it's abandoned now, but the town with the "Walmart" would have a small grocery store on the farther side of town. I want the distance between things to basically drive home that you need to keep your truck running to be able to do anything. If you can't, you'll have to walk and the distance will take up a lot of your time. I might put a crappy motel somewhere outside the largest town just in case you don't get back in time, but it be sketchy, (harmlessly) haunted, and smell really strongly of old cigarettes. If you end up making friends, you can also stay at their place at night so you don't have to go back in the dark. The dark would obviously have monsters, but there would also be wild animals you'd need to avoid either hitting with your truck or getting attacked by. On top of this, there's a serious increase in muggings, burglaries, and carjackings once hard drugs flowed into the area.
If I wasn't so easily scared playing games by myself, I'd sooo absolutely get this. It is such a cool game, and so good already! Can't wait to see more.
I had seen this dev start developing it when he was doing the mechanics for fear during the whole game instead of just jumpscares, what a wonderful experience to see this come to fruition, it looks amazing, I appreciate his love of horror and the respect he has for the person playing he doesnt condescend you with cheap thrills, even I was unnerved at certain point in the playthrough. I cant wait to see you play the whole thing!
When this goes full, i certainly hope they extend the daytime. Figures they have to, I know you skip time but I can't see you exploring past your own plot without the ATV on such short time.
5:15 And, so far, it does it without adding unnecessary tedium, like making you go back and forth picking up each piece of trash and dropping it in a can individually. Other games should really take note here!

Transcriber’s notes: some of the words in the song wasn’t too clear so i put alternatives of what i heard in (….) anyways i think the devs for this game made it themselves and they definitely cooked
1:27:56
I loved the alternative lyrics as repeated lines (although song might not actually do that)! Thanks for your service! ❤
Nice job on the lyrics! This song will be on Spotify soon enough if you wanna keep an eye out :)
What’s the name of the song???
Holy Shrine by Big Crick!
The song started playing right as I read this comment that’s wild
@@esssteeaa gen Z's only way to own a house :P
Insym's sense of priorities is worrisome.
*As a stranger breaks into his home with an axe, howling like a banshee while his house is on fire:* "JUST A MINUTE, I'M BUILDING ANOTHER COOP! WAAAAIIIT"
"Go check it yourself you big ass baby...."
*rustling*
"I NEED TO GET BACK TO BED"
Most realistic MC ever 😂
So real. Me when I take my dogs out in the backyard at night and the tree rustles weirdly
30:40 haha so funny, can’t tell if that was intentional or just a random event happened at the right time 😂
Honestly we all would do the same there no way ill be checking on the creepy rustling at night 😂
I fkn love still wakes the deep
Maybe the mc is in a personal purgatory of their own making haunted by something.
in the beginning of the game he couldn't move at all while driving. what if he died in car accident then and everything after that is just his purgatory?
I thought it was kind of obvious he's supposed to be dead which is why it works, they're not trying to hide it exactly. He's completely alone, doesn't eat, and refers to his time here as eternity.
Would also explain why his dad hasn't come to visit him yet, since his dad is (presumably) not also dead
I'm stuck in the hospital and the only good thing about it is that I can watch as many Insym videos as I want:) My guy, I've been here with you since 200k subs, can't wait for you to finally reach that 1 million you deserve!
Get well soon dude
@@cerealkiller8223 tnx dude
I can't cuz my internet speed is being cut for YT to around 126kbps, thank you, my "beloved" country for starting a war :)
I can’t believe he has almost 1,000,000 subs. I remember when he had a couple thousand when he was playing Phasmophobia for the first time.
@@JeffReams Man, I remember the WTTG verse days. I can't believe how far he's come after streaming Phasmo almost daily for like over a year. Branching out again really boosted his growth
The anxiety I got every time you went outside in the dark!!!
lol real
Honestly blown away by the quality on display. Having played the demo myself, not only is the presentation incredible, but the variety of jumpscares and horror is incredible. My ending had different effects entirely than what you had here. Very excited for the full release of the game.
It's such a well-made game. perfect voice-acting, perfect story telling and everything. Eagerly waiting for full release.
1:38:00 "do not look too long" continues to look at EVERYTHING
He make mad
I really appreciate how you value voice acting. So many games are riddled with actors doing what I call "anime dub acting". It's really nice to see appreciation for acting that sounds more natural. And kudos to @DavidWehleGames on this game, it's story, and the aforementioned voice direction!
Kinda just want to point out, they had the sun rise in the west and set in the east, it's the other way, noticed when they said the cans to shoot was on the east side of the house
The main character is dead and is probably on the other side of the world. No sure what's the story behind Claire though
I'd easily watch dozens of hours of this game!)
And a side note...
1:25:15 we can now confirm that insym is indeed a crow
That or he built a Scaresym instead of a Scarecrow
18:45 was amazing, not the biggest scare you've had, but you could definitely see true horror inside his eyes
after that he obviously decided not to f-around to much anymore, since he already found out
The fact that I wanted to play it myself but also couldn't stop watching Insym's video is both a testament to the game devs and Insym's entertaining personality.
I'm not normally someone who tears up or cries during games/movies but the voice acting in this demo alone made me tear up multiple times, it's utterly incredible! I cannot wait to see what this game has in store with the official release
0:53 foreshadowing 1:30 is chef’s kiss
I love that he didn't even see it XD
wtf that's scary
goofy jumpscare tbh
I have 15 chickens he said... ''meanwhile 12 of them are outside the fence and not producing any eggs, so frustrating xD''
Insym is the type of character that dies first on horror movies for not listening, lol
1:18:10
The To-Do list lets you sleep EARLIER than nightfall.
All you had to do was stand near the bed for 4 minutes instead of running around for 3.5 minutes.
That end of demo with the song and the rain has got to be one of the best ones I've watched ❤ can't wait for the full game!
looks like a game taking from the horror tv series called From, where on day is all normal and at night monsters comes out. would be cool to have a horror game about that series.
Sooo minecraft?
looks like this isnt a demo. its feels like whole episode of the game and you wait for the next chapter. the sound design is great and va.
I've seen this guy's socials, seriously sounds like a guy just trying to finish his game
My brain for the first part of this video: But tomatoes don't like being planted in shade.
1:08:19 « we should go to bread 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🍞 »
That game looks very cool with unique mechanics! Looking forward to seeing you play it on full release.
Also, regarding the running water in the middle of nowhere thing - some off-grid homesteads have pumps that filter and provide water from a local well to the house. Didn't see one here, but that would make sense
1:15:34 “That’s a nice view right there” and that cloud behind the house looks like a giant scarecrow !!! 😱 😵 💀
nah that's just how farming in appalachia be like
(real talk, this game looks beautiful, and I'm very excited for it!!)
That ending was so silent hill, game looks amazing, im guessing when she tried saving the deer she got hit with a car. He stared to long and caused him to fall apart.
If this were the case, he wouldn't have laughed like it's a good memory when the deer ran away 🤔
Fun fact that cats name is Flynn 😉 I should know it was modeled after my cat, thanks for feeding him ❤
I love that Flynn is immortalized in this game, how cool! Thanks for sharing him with us ❤
Running water in rural settings isn't a mystery or magic. Ostensibly, your house would have a water pump, if it has electricity. And a well would be a given, too.
Heh, rural exit to route 81 in NY in the opening scene, means the game is connonically set somewhere near me
So...got any demon farms?
I swear I remember that exit and had immediate flashbacks to the time I lived upstate NY.
In a small cabin. Spooky stuff happened.
This game made me so emotional because of the memories. I'm just glad the interior of the house is completely different
What kind of spoopy stuff?
We 100% have farms that are most likely haunted. The Halloween season up here is amazing. Throw in the tons of abandoned factories and psych wards and it can be pretty fun
Bro doxxing himself online
I played a bit of the demo, and the nights where some things are mega-spooky raised the hairs on the back of my neck, and gave me chills like nothing else. Really great atmosphere in this game so far.
That bird sounded like the noise Ross makes when he was describing the noises dinosaurs would have made 😂😂
I love how hes purposefully just deciding not to go to bed when suddenly something just starts walking at him and he decides to just go to bed 18:40
Dude kept working outside at night and then kept acting surprised whenever he get scared. 😭
Yeeeeesss, I love farm horror, Pumpkin panick now have a deserved companion on my list
Song is Holy Shrine by Big Crick in case someone didnt already comment that
god damn.. i was looking for this.. xD
thank you..
18:51 I almost had a heart attack, lol.
(I'd have to make it an obvious enough theme that people can pick up on it without it being too preachy)
I would want the harvesting to take longer so it's more of an investment, and I prefer going into town like you can in Stardew Valley.
It sounds pretty cool. But also sounds like a lot of work to develop. I wish you luck and hope to see it one day.
The most scary part about this video is how Insym constantly forgets his tasks.
The music at the 1:29:00 mark paired so well with the rain and accidental tomato beat
It’s the part I keep replaying. It’s literally perfect!
What's the song name
If I wasn't so easily scared playing games by myself, I'd sooo absolutely get this. It is such a cool game, and so good already! Can't wait to see more.
The way he plays really grinds my gears.
18:50 Bro got so scared he ran his character into the exterior wall. If that was real like you'd prolly have knocked yourself out and gotten got! xD
Insym, you are my sunshine
The "slurp" sound is the painting changing.
I swear, the horror of this game is this guy not going to bed when he should and practically BEGGING the monsters to take a nibble out of him!
I saw Hollow played this game and he went to bed on time so his encountered less monsters and that made it slightly boring
Other games should really take note here!
the ghosts walking away part is so emotional to me, almost made me cry.
I am SO excited to see you play the full game when it comes out!!!
"the forest becomes the farm" history of humanity in a single sentence.
New Minecraft mod looks pretty realistic😂
I don't know if he ever noticed the screen going blurry 😅
I like the subtle horror of the game. Like the man in the backseat or the scarecrow
I think the cut scene transitions are some of the best I've seen in a game period honestly. It's just so seamless and natural.
~Super poignant moment~ :, (
Insym: SICK MY CHICKEN JUST POOPED OUT LIKE 17 EGGS BRO
I honestly can't wait for the full game, and I can't wait to watch you play it. It's hard to find youtubers who play to explore the whole game environment before completing the game, and I absolutely love that😊
I wish listed this as soon as I saw you play it. I can't wait for the full release. Also this reminded me a lot of pumpkin panic except it's the realistic 3D version.
this demo was a lot better than i thought it was going to be. bravo
The survival instincts of a fly.
so annoying yet so entertaining
Farming Anxiety Simulator
Even after watching gameplay, the demo was so much fun. Great video, Kudos!
This game looks wonderful. Farming & horror is a cool combination that I hope more devs work with in the future
I dont usually get scared watching - but this got me! i loved it - i cant wait to see you play the whole game when it comes out
LOL yelling "friend" Every time you swing the axe. 😂
I've never wanted a full playthrough from Insym more than I do right now 😭 I really hope the developer can get the support they need to finish the game!
Tomatoes aren't rotten, they're catfaced, they're missing nutrients in the ground as they're growing or they were overwatered while fruiting.
dude im playing 7 days to die, ive had this on the background and im not the type to be scared of horror games, but just hearing you play this is making me jumpy in MY game, MY GAME ISNT EVEN SCARY
29:50 - Aren't eagles daytime predators? What was this bird doing in the middle of the night?
Just listen to that music.... the atmosphere... so immersive. Thank you!!!! Cannot wait to see the full game.
30:41 voice lines really called us babies
18:50 holy cow, I wasn't expecting that hahahaha
1:40:02 When he turned around that got me good. 😂
This is going to be such a good game when it comes out.
That was hilarious!
wow subs went up by 3k in just the last few days since I last took note! 1M is so soon!! Congrats Insym!
Also, calling it right now, old boy died in a car accident and this farm is his purgatory/afterlife.
I'm so excited for this game! Thanks for playing it!
This is basically Pumpkin Panic in 3D with a high budget.......and I'm ALL for it. Can't wait for full release.
I really hope this can be played out as a farming sim. It's pretty good so far in what you have to do and the cutscenes being short and detailed is nice.
This game made me so tense, that even flipping the To do list felt like a jumpscare at one point. Very-very atmospheric. I'm intrigued. :3
When you went into the abandoned garage, the sound you heard was actually a figure standing up by the van. I wonder if the guy with the flashlight is the same person 🤔
